• How to create a splash activity , call a second activity via a button, simple data form 5 fields and 2 buttons

  New to Android need help with one solid build that I can refer to and study for future projects. The first activity is a background image with a button,when clicked the it takes you to the second activity which is a form with 5 data fields and 2 buttons. One button calls an intent to take a picture within the app and one button that submits the data from the form along with the picture to URL. lastly a third activity that says complete thank you. I can make some of this but don't know how to link button or open and merge camera with the app to be sent as a package of data. I suppose I could also hook into GPS acquire location as well as the camera call?

• C#: How to kill a singleton window

  Hi Everyone I'm working on a WPF application which should be utilizable with two monitors. In the main window is a button which detaches a part of the content in a second window wich can then be used on the other minitor. That second window I implemented as a singleton. That works quite good except that the second window doesn't get destoryed on application shutdown which means that the app keeps running in the background. Regarding that problem I'd like to know if a singleton is the right way to do this and if not what would be the right way. If it is, how do I get rid of the instance and why can't I access the singleton instance from app.xaml.cs? Thanks for your help.

• iPhone CoreData Migration and modifying data

  I have an app that has both static data and user entered data in the CoreData store. I understand how to do a lightweight migration to a new database version, but how to I add or modify the static data without affecting the users data? If I have 50 static data entries to add and a couple to modify (ie. spelling mistakes) should they be stored in a different sqlite db and copied over? Also, is it possible to look at the version of the data store so that this copy only happens the first time the app is started up after upgrading? Sorry for the general noob type question, but this is the first time I have ever had to deal with this sort of issue. Thanks, Scott

• Adding new column in Sales Order View Items in Magento Admin

  In the admin interface of Magento I need to modify the tables in the Sales / Order / View order so that it shows, besides the products name, their manufacturer as well. I'm trying to look for the file to modify to make that happen. I thought I would find a section with all the columns that are displayed in app/code/core/Mage/Sales/Block/Order/Item/Renderer/Default.php but by inspecting it there seem to be no reference to the columns/product attributes. I also tried to modify app/design/adminhtml/default/default/template/sales/order/view/items/renderer/default.phtml by changing <?php echo $this->getColumnHtml($_item, 'name') ?> into <?php echo $this->getColumnHtml($_item, 'manufacturer') ?> but it changed nothing, so I suppose that file is not involved... Can anybody please point me to the right file to modify? Thank you!

• How does one record audio from a Javascript based webapp?

  I'm trying to write a web-app that records WAV files (eg: from the user's microphone). I know Javascript alone can not do this, but I'm interested in the least proprietary method to augment my Javascript with. My targeted browsers are Firefox for PC and Mac (so no ActiveX). Please share your experiences with this. I gather it can be done with Flash (but not as a WAV formated file). I gather it can be done with Java (but not without code-signing). Are these the only options? @dominic-mazzoni I'd like to record the file as a WAV because because the purpose of the webapp will be to assemble a library of good quality short soundbites. I estimate upload will be 50 MB, which is well worth it for the quality. The app will only be used on our intranet. • iphone uiwebview / form

  Hey All, Okay, so I have an iphone app that presents the user with a UIWebview of an html page with a form I created. The form has standard stuff like a message box and dropdown boxes. Once the user fills out the form and clicks submit, it saves the information as nsstrings in my program. Okay, no problem there. That all works fine. However, I also wanna be able to edit this form as well. Once I save all this information the user selected in the form (as strings), is there a way to put it back into an html form using an uiwebview so a user of the app can edit the info later on?? I apologize in advance if I didn't give enough info.

• OpenId authentication and automatic registration with Spring Security 3.0.2

  I'm implementing an app using spring security 3.0.2 with OpenId login and registration. I can login succesfully, but if the user isn't registered i want to do: 1) Get some OpenId attributes like email and name. 2) Show to the user a registration form with just these two fields and the OpenId URI filled. I've been searching a lot but i didn't find an "ellegant" way of doing this. I wonder if some of u can come out with a solution to implement this strategy in my app. Thanks in advance.

• Accessing cookies in php which are set in java web application

  I am setting a cookie at the domain level on encrypted connection in Java web application running on tomcat and I would like it to be accessible in a php web application running on a same domain but different subdomain. Java web application running on https://javaapp.mycompany.com php web application running on https://phpapp.mycompany.com/subpath/index.php From java, I am setting the cookie with following parameters: Domain: .mycompany.com Send For: Encrypted connections only Expires: After 2 months Path: /subpath Name: __C Value: 1 Dumping all the cookies from my php web application running on https, I do not see any cookies getting dumped by the php web application. Whereas if I set the cookies in Java for any type of connection, only then php web application is able to see them if I run the php app on http instead of https. I believe php web app should be able to retrieve then cookies set for https only and for particular domain and all immediate sub-domains. What am I doing wrong here? Thanks in advance for the help.

• MPMoviePlayerController iPhone 3G & .mov file format

  Just posting a question to the world... My app is currently setup to play video files. The app is setup to play .mov files and when tested on a 3GS, iPhone 4, and an iPad, it works great. But when playing on an iPhone 3G, the file does not play. Is this based on different compression standards that the 3G can't handle? I liked the .mov extension as it was compressed nicely to stream to the device. I have now converted the video files to .m4v so it will play on the 3G, but the file is now 3 times the size. It does not work, however. The respond method is not called when I click the button. • How to write multiple files from one NSData object?

  Hi there! I'm writing an iPhone app that includes in-app purchasing. It downloads a zip file, then I unzip the file using the popular NSData category (zlibDeflate) which outputs the uncompressed file into an NSData object. The zip file contains multiple files in it which I need to write to the Documents directory. How can I write each file separately from this one NSData object? writeToFile just writes the whole thing to one file. Thank you and let me know if you need any more information.

• Debuggin in Xcode

  I'm toying with iPhone app development. Often times I would run into runtime error and I would have no idea where the error occurs (e.g. the exact line). In console app with GCC I could at least compile with the -g flag. dump a core file and read that core file in to get to the last line that got into trouble. But how would I do that in Xcode? Build and Debug doesn't seem to have the debugging symbol loaded.

• How do I completely disable caching in Cakephp?

  So I opened the cache floodgates in my Cakephp app and now I want to close them... I've done pretty everything I can: delete all files in the tmp folder (but not the folders), turned 'Cache.disable' on in the core.php file in my app, have tried clearing the cache from within some controllers with clearCache() and Cache::clear() (but I suspect this doesn't work because it's not loading the controller -- due to caching). I've pretty much effectively halted my development process just because caching won't turn off. Anyone have some ideas that I could try? I'm starting to think it may be within the browser or maybe my hosting service, but it's probably just Cakephp messing with me.

  Hi. I want to launch my own media player application when I want to watch a video from Youtube. When I write android:scheme="http" and android:host="m.youtube.com" it is OK. But, it asks everywhere in m.youtube.com to open my app. So, it gets annoying. I tried to use pathPattern, pathPrefix and path to solve this but I didn't get ahead. All I want is clearly this: When the link is like "http://m.youtube.com/index?desktop_uri=%2F%gl=US#" the intent filter shouldn't launch my app. When the link is like "http://m.youtube.com/index?desktop_uri=%2F&gl=US#/watch?xl=xl_blazer&v=k3Cdqx1qFX8" my application should be launched. Is there anyone that can help me?

  How do I configure my project buildpath to have a set of .jar files located in the same directory automatically included in the buildpath ? Meaning that adding a new .jar file to this directory (and refreshing the project) updates the buildpath ? Rem : I am not working in a Webapp but in a standalone Java app. I know that it is possible in a Dynamic Web Project to have all the .jars located in WEB-INF/lib to be included in the build path.   I am running my application locally -- ie. No external traffic and very low number of queries, fully under my control. I see tons of 'Audit Login' and 'Audit Logout' events. What are these and where are they actually stored (ie. Where is this audit log)? Are these a hint of a problem with connections, because I have only a simple connection string within my app and thought that connections would remain active throughout the operation of my app (ie. a single login at launch, and then a single logout when terminating).

I am a bit new to Python but I am looking for a way to run multiple apps that will continuously run in the background. For example, I need 4 apps to start up with a param -appnum set to a different value. I would like to use python to count up and then start up a new app that will continue to run. I assumed I would use subprocess but I feel a bit overwhelmed by the documentation. I also plan to have the app print out sequences of numbers and would like to redirect this to a file. • UIButton setBackgroundImage consumes doesn't release memory?

  My UIButton has it's background image set like this: [myImageButton setBackgroundImage:[UIImage imageNamed:myImageName] forState:UIControlStateNormal]; myImageButton is a retained property of the class, and is setup with IB. No where else is it accessed in the app. myImageName is simply an NSString with a filename like @"myImage_number_1.png" I am loading large images, 1024 x 1024 in size. When the view is shown, it changes the image with the above statement, then available memory decreases. After I see the view about 7-9 different times, the app crashes with a memory warning. I thought the method would free up the loaded image. The view itself is only instantiated and allocated one time, so it's not in the retain/release cycle if the view controller. Is there something about this setBackgroundImage I don't know that causes it to not release memory?
