• Data manipulation without server side

  Hi, I have to create a very simple webpage to show, filter and add data from not-yet-defined source (probably txt/xml/cvs). Records should be visible as a table, filtered using 3 criteria fields. There should be also possibility to add new records. My first thought was: XHTML + jQuery + csv2table + PicNet Table Filter. It does exactly what I want except adding rows - that is saving changes in source file (probably due to security risk). My question is - is there any possibility to do it without involving server side like asp.net, jee, php, sql? Source file is located on the server. Thanks for your ideas :-)

• Using php to create a password system with chinese characters

  Hi guys, I'm having an issue with validating chinese characters against other chinese characters, for example I'm creating a simple password script which gets data from a database, and gets the user input through get. The issue I'm having is for some reason, even though the characters look exactly the same when you echo them out, my if statement still thinks they are different. I have tried using the htmlentities() function to encode the characters, the password from the database encodes nicely, giving me a working '& #35441;' (I've put a space in it to stop it from converting to a chinese character!). The other user input value gives me a load of funny characters. The only thing which I believe must be breaking it, is it encodes in a different way and therefore the php thinks it's 2 completely different strings. Does anybody have any ideas? • Putting sql result set into JList

  hi there. im working on my second year project and im nearly finished but ive got a problem. i have a table set up in oracle that holds user names, recipients, and messages. i wanted to make a contacts list for sendin messages that would take the user names and put them into a swing jlist but i cant figure out how. i thought maybe if i put the usernames into an array from the sql itd be easier but that didnt work. any ideas?

• divs with z-index & position class

  hello, i need your help with div positioning into a page. i have the below divs: - the header with z-index 10, position absolute, top 0, height 250px, width 100% - wrapper with margin 0 auto, width 990 and inside - the menu with z-index 8 - content to the right of the menu with z-index 9 so that i could scroll it below the header. the problem is that i want the menu to have fixed position and this is not possible cause it is not working for the x-axis as it gets outside wrapper. • Why is Hibernate not loading a column?

  I've got an entity with a few properties that gets used a lot in my Hibernate/GWT app. For the most part, everything works fine, but Hibernate refuses to load one of the properties. It doesn't appear in the query, despite being annotated correctly in the entity. The relevant portion of the entity: @Column(name="HasSubSlots") @Type(type="yes_no") public boolean hasSubSlotSupport() { return hasSubSlotSupport; } And the generated SQL query: Hibernate: /* load entities.DeviceModel */ select devicemode0_.DevModel as DevModel1_0_, devicemode0_.InvModelName as InvModel2_1_0_ from DeviceModels devicemode0_ where devicemode0_.DevModel=? Despite the fact that I refer to that property, it's never loaded, lazily or not, and the getter always returns false. Any ideas on how I can dig deeper into this, or what might be wrong?

  I'm having trouble coming up with the most efficient algorithm to remove duplicates from List<List<int>>, for example (I know this looks like a list of int[], but just doing it that way for visual purposes: my_list[0]= {1, 2, 3}; my_list[1]= {1, 2, 3}; my_list[2]= {9, 10, 11}; my_list[3]= {1, 2, 3}; So the output would just be new_list[0]= {1, 2, 3}; new_list[1]= {9, 10, 11}; Let me know if you have any ideas. I would really appreciate it.

• Disabled Select drop down checking through PHP

  I have a couple of drop down boxes I access through POST with PHP. When the boxes are disabled and not equal to zero I have the program do something. However when they are disabled I do not want them to do anything. The way I check if the boxes are active is by using an if statement if ($_POST['box'] != "blank"){ //do something } So basically I check if the box is not in the default blank position run the if statement. However when it is disabled I am not sure how to check or what kind of value it returns if any. What can I add to the if statement so it will not go into the loop when the boxes are disabled? I tried: if ($_POST['box'] != "blank" || $_POST['box'] != ""){ //do something } But that did not work. Any ideas?

• mysql_real_escape_string & slashes (again, oh yes)

  Righto, firstly magic quotes & runtime are disabled correctly in php.ini, and confirmed by phpinfo(). PHP version: 5.3.4 MySQL version: 5.1.52 I'm only use mysql_real_escape_string on the data, after htmlspecialchars and a trim, that's all the data cleaning on the variable. Yet, when I submit a single quote, the slash remains in the database. When running mysql_query I'm using "' . $var . '", although in the past this hasn't changed anything (could be due to the double quotes?). Any ideas? and please don't tell me about PDO/prepared statements, I'm aware of them and I have my reasons for doing it this way. Thanks!

• Import external dll based on 64bit or 32bit OS

  I have a dll that comes in both 32bit and 64bit version. My .NET WinForm is configured for "Any CPU" and my boss will not let us have separate installs for the different OS versions. So I am wondering: if I package both dlls in the install, then is there a way to have the WinForm determine if its 64bit/32bit and load the proper dll. I found this article for determining version. But i am not sure how to inject the proper way to define the DLLImport attribute on the methods i wish to use. Any ideas?

  i have this code below to show different divs when i choose certain radio buttons: if ($("input[@name='exerciseRB']:checked").val() == 'New') { $("#newExercise").show(); $("#existingExercise").hide(); } else { $("#newExercise").hide(); $("#existingExercise").show(); } at first, i just had two radio buttons (both named exerciseRB and everything works fine. Now, later in my web page i added two new radio buttons (with the name lessonRB). The issue is that once i added these other new radio buttons when i look up this in firebug: $("input[@name='exerciseRB']:checked") i actually get an array back with both the exerciseRB item as well as the lessonRB item. Its almost as if the @name='exerciseRB' is being ignored. any ideas here?

• C# how to sort a list without implementing IComparable manually?

  I have a fairly complex scenario and I need to ensure items I have in a list are sorted. Firstly the items in the list are based on a struct that contains a sub struct. For example: public struct topLevelItem { public custStruct subLevelItem; } public struct custStruct { public string DeliveryTime; } Now I have a list comprised of topLevelItems for example: var items = new List<topLevelItem>(); I need a way to sort on the DeliveryTime ASC. What also adds to the complexity is that the DeliveryTime field is a string. Since these structs are part of a reusable API, I can't modify that field to a DateTime, neither can I implement IComparable in the topLevelItem class. Any ideas how this can be done? Thank you

• Using PHP to grab the absolute URL of the script?

  Basically, I want my script to output its absolute URL, but I don't want to statically program it into the script. For example, if my current URL is http://example.com/script.php I want to be able to store it as a variable, or echo it. i.e. $url = http://example.com/script.php; But if I move the script to a different server/domain, I want it to automatically adjust to that, i.e. $url = http://example2.com/newscript.php; But I have no idea how to go about doing this. Any ideas?

  Hi All I am developing a user manager which must control access to the detail view of editable items. At present, when a user clicks 'edit', the application queries the link table to check if a user is currently editing that page, if not, it allows access to the page and then inserts a record into the link table preventing another user from editing the same page at the same time. My question is what would the best way to handle the removal of records if say a user exists the browser without saving etc, therefore no action to remove the record. • ActionScript arrays being automatically set to other values

  I am making a flash game, in each round, the player will chose either True or False. The decision of each round will be stored in an array. That is, it looks like {true, false, true, false}.. When the user clicks the "Debrief“ button, the eventlistener will be called and the game will go to the debriefing part. It will read the array mentioned before. However, the array values are all "false". I am very sure that the array has not being touched in between. So, any ideas about why the array is set to false mysteriously?

  Hey everyone, Using C#, I need to do some extra work if function A() was called right before function C(). If any other function was called in between A() and C() then I don't want to do that extra work. Any ideas that would require the least amount of code duplication? I'm trying to avoid adding lines like "flag = false;" into every function B1..BN. Here is a very basic example: bool flag = false; void A() { flag = true; } void B1() { ... } void B2() { ... } void C() { if (flag) { //do something } } The above example was just using a simple case but I'm open to using something other than booleans. • Mod_rewrite trouble: Want to direct from ?= to a flat link, nothing seems to work.

  I have a site that currently serves results as example.com/index.php?show=foo and I'd like it to read example.com/show/foo. My understanding is this would make them visible to search engine robots, and it seems a much simpler way to do this than to create a couple hundred html files... I've tried the following .htaccess code: Options +FollowSymLinks RewriteEngine on RewriteRule ^show/(.*)$ index.php?show=$1 [NC,L] No dice. • Script Doesnt Run All the Way Through

  I have a php script that should execute 2 for loops. Both take awhile to run. I have called ignore_user_abort(true) and set_time_limit(0). The interesting thing is, the first for loop completes, then the script dies without calling the next line of code. ignore_user_abort(true); set_time_limit(0); for($i=0; $i<10500; ++$i) { //do work } mail('[email protected]', 'First loop done', 'None'); for($j=0;$j<12500; ++$j) { //do work } mail('[email protected]', 'Second loop done', 'None'); The first loop will finish after about 20 minutes, but the mail function is never called, the script just ends. Any ideas why this might be happening other than a timeout (I have run other scripts for days on my current configuration)?

It says on PHP.net that eregi_replace is case insensitive matching but it's obviously not working for some reason. (I'm a noob). Any ideas? :D

• PHP - ftp_get only works once

  I'm connecting to an ftp server that I have no control over, and I'm pretty sure is using something old and outdated due to other issues I've run into. I'm simply using this code in a loop to get all the files in a directory. ftp_put($this->conn_id, $remote, $local, FTP_ASCII); The first time all goes well, but after that I get this error thrown for each file I try to get: "There is already an active transaction" I've tried both passive & active with no luck. It's the exact same code I use to connect to other FTP servers and get files with no problem. Any ideas? I suppose my last resort could be disconnecting and reconnecting for each file, but that seems like a huge waste.
