  • Why does the task name contain "now / 30"?

    In the video/PDF from "Data pipelines with Google App Engine" Brett puts "now / 30" into the task name noting that he will explain the reason later, but somehow he never does. :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zSDC_TU7rtc#t=41m35 task_name = '%s-%d-%d' % (sum_name, int(now / 30), index) Do you have any idea about the reason?   • Wordpress and Joomla Permalinks plus domain redirect to specific subdirectory on Zeus

    Hi, Here's what I'm trying to do: joomla in 1 subdirectory, wordpress in another. mysite.com directs to the joomla directory mysite.com/blog gives wordpress. I would also like to use seo friendly permalinks for both. I am using Zeus Linux shared hosting with Joomla 1.5 and wordpress 2.9.2, and having a great deal of trouble finding a suitable rewrite script. Any help would be very much appreciated! Thank you.

  • Does Python/Scipy have a firls( ) replacement (i.e. a weighted, least squares, FIR filter design)?

    I am porting code from Matlab to Python and am having trouble finding a replacement for the firls( ) routine. It is used for, least-squares linear-phase Finite Impulse Response (FIR) filter design. I looked at scipy.signal and nothing there looked like it would do the trick. Of course I was able to replace my remez and freqz algorithsm, so that's good. On one blog I found an algorithm that implemented this filter without weighting, but I need one with weights.     I wrote a blog post a while ago detailing how the availability of both primitive and object-wrapped value types in JavaScript (for things such as Number, String and Boolean) causes trouble, including but not limited to type-casting to a boolean (e.g. object-wrapped NaN, "" and false actually type-cast to true). My question is, with all this confusion and problems, is there any benefit to JavaScript having both types of values for the built-in classes?

    Hi, I;ve been trying to create a custom button in android using this tutorial - http://www.gersic.com/blog.php?id=56 It works well but it doesn't say how to change the font size or weighting. Any ideas? There was another question on here and the only answer was to use html styling but you can't change a font size in html without using css (or the deprecated font tag). There must be a better way of setting the pixel size of the font used on buttons?

    hi there, I find the LOC (lines of code) metric a simple but nice metric to get an overview of software codebase complexity (see also blog-entry 'implications of lines-of-code'). I wondered how many of you out there are using this metric as a centric part for retrospective (for removing unused functionality or dead code). I think creating awareness that more lines-of-code mean more complexity in maintenance and extension is valuable.

    I'm relatively new with WordPress theming and JavaScript, though not incompetent with either. I'm looking to have a maximum of 10 jQuery plugins to go on the blog, but I'm wondering if there's a way to have them load only when needed, as I don't want any unnecessary loading for the users. Something similar in something I know a little bit more of would be the conditional comments in IE <!--[IF IE]> @import ie.css <![endif]-->.
