• Windows Workflow and sql script in declarative config like InRule

  We have been using InRule for our Rule needs we have found that it does not scale well and so are investigating the Windows Work Flow. Within InRule we could configure pretty much have any task for example our sql scripts and stored procedures where all part of a separate rule config file, I am wondering if there is a similar functionality within windows work flow where I could just call a declarative task and pass it a bunch of parameters – This task should contain the sql script I would be executing , we should be able to change the script at runtime without recompilation to the WF code. Is this possible in Windows Work flow – How can I accomplish this within work flow. Additionally for sql execution within Work Flow, how does it get the connection string. Should it be passed from the calling program – is passing it as input parameter from the Calling app via the Dictionary object the best way or can the work flow code have visibility to my calling program app.config and get the connection string ?

• MySQL is running VERY slow

  I have two servers: a VPS and a laptop. I recently re-built both of them, and MySQL is running about 20 times slower on the laptop. Both servers used to run CentOS 5.8 and I think MySQL 5.1, and the laptop used to do great so I do not think it is the hardware. For the VPS, my provider installed CentOS 6.4, and then I installed MySQL 5.1.69 using yum with the CentOS repo. For the laptop, I installed CentOS 6.4 basic server and then installed MySQL 5.1.69 using yum with the CentOS repo. my.cnf for both servers are identical, and I have shown below. For both servers, I've also included below the output from SHOW VARIABLES; as well as output from sysbench, file system information, and cpu information. I have tried adding skip-name-resolve, but it didn't help. The matrix below shows the SHOW VARIABLES output from both servers which is different. Again, MySQL was installed the same way, so I do not know why it is different, but it is and I think this might be why the laptop is executing MySQL so slowly. Why is the laptop running MySQL slowly, and how do I fix it? I have added some logging to the decode() method of my custom component and I can see that the parameters entered by the user are being posted back with the request, however these parameters are not used to update the data model. Why does the test case with columns declared in the facelet page works correctly (ie the data model is correctly updated by JSF) where the same does not happen when the columns are created at runtime using the encodeBegin() method? Is there any method I need to invoke or interface I need to extend in order to ensure the data model is correctly updated? I am using this test case to address the issue that is appearing in a much more complex component, therefore I can't achieve the same functionality using a facelet composite component. Please note that this has been done using NetBeans 6.8, JRE 1.6.0u18, GlassFish 3.0. Thanks for your help.

  This is my problem, I have one textbox, one button and one label. Everything is inside an updatepanel. Let's say I want to test if a valid html-tag is entered in the textbox when I press the button. In the code-behind I have a method for that. Everythings works just fine, except when I actually enter a html-tag in my textbox. If I test < html, it works. But not if I test . So my question is, doesn't the updatepanel accept html-tags as parameters? Because my breakpoint for the button_click doesn't triggers. Sorry for my bad english.. :)

• Compile-time lookup array creation for ANSI-C?

  A previous programmer preferred to generate large lookup tables (arrays of constants) to save runtime CPU cycles rather than calculating values on the fly. He did this by creating custom Visual C++ projects that were unique for each individual lookup table... which generate array files that are then #included into a completely separate ANSI-C micro-controller (Renesas) project. This approach is fine for his original calculation assumptions, but has become tedious when the input parameters need to be modified, requiring me to recompile all of the Visual C++ projects and re-import those files into the ANSI-C project. What I would like to do is port the Visual C++ source directly into the ANSI-C microcontroller project and let the compiler create the array tables. So, my question is: Can ANSI-C compilers compute and generate lookup arrays during compile time? And if so, how should I go about it? Thanks in advance for your help!

As I understood from .NET client code, I need to send post request to the following url (after establishing connection with server): http://serverurl/signalr/send?transport=serverSentEvents&connectionId=<my_connection_id> . In request body I need to send json string containing basic information about the invoked method. My question is how should this json look like? I'm trying to send smth like this (again, judging by .NET client code): {"data" : {"Hub" : "hubname", "Method" : "methodname", "Args" : {"message" : "msg"} } } But I get the following error: System.ArgumentNullException: Value cannot be null. Parameter name: s. What am I doing wrong? What are required parameters of sending json and how should it be formatted?

• Strange thing about .NET 4.0 filesystem enumeratation functionality

  I just read a page of "Whats new .NET Framework 4.0". I have trouble understanding the last paragraph: To remove open handles on enumerated directories or files Create a custom method (or function in Visual Basic) to contain your enumeration code. Apply the MethodImplAttribute attribute with the NoInlining option to the new method. For example: [MethodImplAttribute(MethodImplOptions.NoInlining)] Private void Enumerate() Include the following method calls, to run after your enumeration code: * The GC.Collect() method (no parameters). * The GC.WaitForPendingFinalizers() method. Why the attribute NoInlining? What harm would inlining do here? Why call the garbage collector manually, why not making the enumerator implement IDisposable in the first place? I suspect they use FindFirstFile()/FindNextFile() API calls for the imlementation, so FindClose() has to be called in any case if the enumeration is done.

  I have a function that looks as follows: let isInSet setElems normalize p = normalize p |> (Set.ofList setElems).Contains This function can be used to quickly check whether an element is semantically part of some set; for example, to check if a file path belongs to an html file: let getLowerExtension p = (Path.GetExtension p).ToLowerInvariant() let isHtmlPath = isInSet [".htm"; ".html"; ".xhtml"] getLowerExtension However, when I use a function such as the above, performance is poor since evaluation of the function body as written in "isInSet" seems to be delayed until all parameters are known - in particular, invariant bits such as (Set.ofList setElems).Contains are reevaluated each execution of isHtmlPath. How can best I maintain F#'s succint, readable nature while still getting the more efficient behavior in which the set construction is preevaluated. The above is just an example; I'm looking for a general pattern that avoids bogging me down in implementation details - where possible I'd like to avoid being distracted by details such as the implementation's execution order since that's usually not important to me and kind of undermines a major selling point of functional programming.

• URL on apache server does not default to the .php file after / has been added

  Generally a url that looks like this: http://www.domain.com/product.php/12/ will open up product.php and serve the /12/ as request parameters, which then my PHP script can process to pull out the right product info. However when I migrated this whole site, after developing it, to a new server, I get a 404 error, because on that server it's not defaulting to the mother directory/file in case of an absence of requested directories. I vaguely remember learning that this is generally a common apache function but I can't seem to recall how to set it up or how to manipulate it.. if there's an .htaccess method to achieve this that would be great.

  The C# spec states that an argument type cannot be both covariant and contravariant at the same time. This is apparent when creating a covariant or contravariant interface you decorate your type parameters with "out" or "in" respectively. There is not option that allows both at the same time ("outin"). Is this limitation simply a language specific constraint or are there deeper, more fundamental reasons based in category theory that would make you not want your type to be both covariant and contravariant?   Suppose I have this: class A { public: virtual int hello(A a); }; class B : public A { public: int hello(B b){ bla bla }; }; So, A it's an abstract class. 1)In the class B, I'm defining a method that its suppose overrides the A class. But the parameter it's slightly different. I'm not sure about this, is this correct? Maybe because of polymorphism, this is ok but its rather confusing. 2) If I do: A a = new B;, and then a.hello(lol); if "lol" it's not of type B, then it would give compile error?, and if it's of type A from another class C (class C : public A), what would happend? I'm confused about the overriding and virtual thing.. all examples I found work with methods without parameters. Any answer, link, or whatever it's appreciated. thanks pd: sorry for my english

Now I need to call the function, which would have specific address(NOT KNOWN) arguments(parameters) which I have collected from TLB, and name as well. How that address corresponds to that function name to which I am going to call. For this I need to traverse vtable which is holding functional addresses, LASTLY need to correspond function address with NAME of that function. This is I dont know. How? • How to create a UDF that takes a query string and returns the query's resultset

  I want to create a stored procedure that takes a simple SELECT statement and return the resultset as a CSV string. So the basic idea is get the sql statement from user input, run it using EXEC(@stmt) and convert the resultset to text using cursors. However, as SQLServer doesn't allow: select * from storedprocedure(@sqlStmt) UDF with EXEC(@sqlStmt) so I tried Insert into #tempTable EXEC(@sqlStmt), but this doesn't work (error = "invalid object name #tempTable"). I'm stuck. Could you please shed some light on this matter? Many thanks EDIT: Actually the output (e.g CSV string) is not important. The problem is I don't know how to assign a cursor to the resultset returned by EXEC. SP and UDF do not work with Exec() while creating a temp table before inserting values is impossible without knowing the input statement. I thought of OPENQUERY but it does not accept variables as its parameters.

One of the methods has the following signature, from SDK: long FindMultipleFaces( IUnknown* pIDibImage, VARIANTARG* FacePositionArray ); Parameters: pIDibImage[in] - The image to search. FacePositionArray[out]- The array of FacePosition2 objects into which face information is placed. This array is in a safe array (VARIANT) of type VT_UNKNOWN. The size of the array dictates the maximum number of faces for which to search. which translates into the following C# method signature (from metadata): int FindMultipleFaces(object pIDibImage, ref object pIFacePositions); Being optimistic I call it the following way but get an exception that the memory is corrupt. The exception is thrown only when a face is present in the image.   I have a class Graph with two lists types namely nodes and edges I have a function List<int> GetNodesInRange(Graph graph, int Range) when I get these parameters I need an algorithm that will go through the graph and return the list of nodes only as deep (the level) as the range. The algorithm should be able to accommodate large number of nodes and large ranges. Atop this, should I use a similar function List<int> GetNodesInRange(Graph graph, int Range, int selected) I want to be able to search outwards from it, to the number of nodes outwards (range) specified. So in the first function, I expect it to return the nodes placed in the blue box. The other function, if I pass the nodes as in the graph with a range of 1 and it starts at node 5, I want it to return the list of nodes that satisfy this criteria (placed in the orange box)

I'm fairly new to Ruby, and I'm not sure if I need to convert this to something else, or what. Ideally I want to be able to pass in multiple sets of lat/long in the 'address' array, then be able to iterate over those in my Ruby code.
