Send files between python+django and C#

Hi, i would like to know, what is the best way to send files between python and C# and vice versa. I have my own protocol which work on socket level, and i can send string and numbers in both ways. Loops works too. With this i can send pretty much anything, like package of users id, if it is simple data. But soon i will start sending whole files, maybe xml or executables. Simple server with files is no an option because i want sending files from client too. I was thinking about serialization but i don't know it is the best solution, but if it is i will love some tips from stackoverflow community. EDIT: I added django to question and chose using http.

There is a syntax error in the following code: <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <body> Hello World! <script type="text/javascript"> var obj = {'a:b': '1'}; alert(obj.a:b); // syntax error </script> </body> </html> So how to handle JavaScript objects with colons in key names? I have to do this because I need to handle a feed in jsonp format from a remote server which I do not have control over, and there are colons in the key names of the returned jsonp (because the jsonp is converted from XML with namespaces in tags).

Is it possible to exclude folders from a web application project in vs 2010?

I had previously asked this question. At the time I was working with VS 2008. To restate the question. I have a web application that generates 1000's of small xml files in a certain directory. I would like to exclude this directory from the web application project in visual studio 2010. With vs 2008 it was not possible. Has anything changed? Besides the general wait for VS to iterate through this directory and add an item in the solution explorer for each file, it also strains my system resources, so I would like to exclude it from the project, but the dir and files need to physically exist on disk, because they are part of the application. Method sscanf() ambiguous behavior

I am trying to understand how sscanf() works. I ran some examples from this page: http://docs.roxen.com/pike/7.0/tutorial/strings/sscanf.xml and they don't work on my platform. I can't understand why. For instance: "sscanf("4711bar", "%d%s", a, b);" makes the program exit with an error... Here is one of the examples that work: "sscanf("foo", "f%s", a);". Does anybody know why? Do they work on your platforms? Thank you. Is this the right way to have "global" parameters for my servlets?

If I have: <context-param> <param-name>SomeParam</param-name> <param-value>SomeValue</param-value> </context-param> in my web.xml, is this the servlet way of specifying options ( like in the way a config file is used ) , or am I doing something wrong? I know about init-param that can be specified for a servlet, but I'd like o make sure some values are the same for all the servlets.

How to specify comma , space unicode value in app.config(C#3.0)

In the app.config file if I use <add key = "FileDelimeter" value ="&#2c;"/> as unicode for COMMA, it is throwing error Invalid character in a decimal number 'c' For SPACE, <add key = "FileDelimeter" value =""/> the error is Character'', hex value 0*14 is illegal in xml while <add key = "FileDelimeter" value ="	"/> for "\t" worked. Where is the mistake? Kindly give a generic solution. Thanks

Library of ALL countries and their states for address forms

I need a library that includes all countries and respective codes in 1 array and a second multidimensional array for country to its states and a last array for state code to state name. I found tons of matches for similar requests but none actually have a simple CSV or XML with just that. My goal is to build an address form where you select your country and it then pre-populates the state dropdown - if the country has states - with the country's states. Shouldn't be so hard to find, but I guess i'm blind. Thanks so much for all help!

How do I remove &#13 ; from my text file using VBScript Replace() or a regex?

Hi! I'm doing a conversion between two software which both use XML so the actual conversion part is fairly straightforward - adding text here, removing others here, converting a few information. I'm using VBSCript WSH. The only issue I'm still having is the darn  character - that's my problem! I've tried both strText = Replace(strText, "", "") and using a regex with Regex.pattern = "" ... neither works. I also tried replacing char(13), VBCR... nothing seems to detect the actual string itself and not the character it's creating. Can anyone help me?

Case Sensitivity of Action Names in Struts 2

Is there an easy way to make Struts 2 action names case insensitive? Currently I have the following action defined: <action name="printTest" class="MyClass" > <result name="error">/WEB-INF/jsp/error.jsp</result> <result name="input">/WEB-INF/jsp/test.jsp</result> <result name="success">/WEB-INF/jsp/test.jsp</result> </action> If the user types URL "/app/printtest.do" instead of "/app/printtest.do" this action is not executed. Other then mod_rewrite on the httpd level or something like that, the only option that I know about right now is simply adding the same exact action and changing the name to "printtest". Ideally it would be a simple config change to struts.xml

Hi all! I generate *.hbm.xml mapping files and *.java file from the DB schema, with Hibernate tools. My question is, that is there any option, to generate service classes also? These are the classes where I implement the store(), find(), delete(), etc... methods. I know that for C# there are many solutions to generate almost everything. Free US sales-tax lookup (per zip etc.)?

I am creating a pricing program. I need to calculate the amounts according to the current tax list in the US (in various places). I want to have a button 'Update taxes' in the administrative settings of the application, so when the user clicks it, it should download from somewhere the active tax amounts. So I actually want to have a function decimal GetTax(string zip). Does anyone knows about a free downloadable xml, or RSS accessible or even a website that I can crawle in and get this info from?

Aliasing localhost in Tomcat

I have a web application "quicker" deployed in Tomcat5.5 version. Usually, I run this application by using url, localhost/quicker and it loads the index.jsp file which is the home page of application. I would like same application to be run using url, www.local.dev.mydomain.com/quicker. Would it be possible by doing some configuration in server.xml or some other place? One way of doing this is could be, modify hosts file in windows as - # 127.0.0.1 localhost 127.0.0.1 www.local.dev.mydomain.com But, I want to this in tomcat manner if possible.

The code it is complaining about is: <style name="Title" parent="@android:style/TextAppearance_Holo_Large"> <item name="android:layout_height">wrap_content</item> <item name="android:layout_width">wrap_content</item> </style> I checked my manifest file and I have set the SDK to: <uses-sdk android:minSdkVersion="14" android:targetSdkVersion="17" /> Which i believe allows for using the Holo Themes. I am using Android Studio though I doubt that is the cause of the error. Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

Android : How to start an activity in a tab?

Hi, I am using tabs in my application. I have 3 tabs : home, services, contact us. In the 'home tab', there is 'login button' and my requirement is when I click the login button, it should display the view for 'login' in the same tab itself. That means it should start another activity (login.class) and display corresponding view (login.xml). And the tabs should be displayed at the top as before. But when I click the login button, it should start login activity, but the tabs are disappeared. How can I start an activity in the same tab itself? Please help me. Thank you...

In Spring MVC, is it possible to have different return types in one request handler method?

For example, if a request succeeds, I will return a View ,if not, return a String indicating error message and set the content-type to either xml or json. Based on what I read, seems like I should use "void" as the return type for handler methods. Check this out: "void if the method handles the response itself (by writing the response content directly, declaring an argument of type ServletResponse / HttpServletResponse for that purpose) or if the view name is supposed to be implicitly determined through a RequestToViewNameTranslator (not declaring a response argument in the handler method signature)."(Spring Framework reference). Create "INSERT" statements from mySQL database in Java

Does anyone know of any good libraries or scripts out there which will allow me to point to any mySQL table and automatically get a list of all the INSERT statements for the data in the table? DdlUtils allows me to create an XML file from a database model but I would like to have it in INSERT statements format and preferably the ability to choose a couple of tables instead of dumping the entire database. Is there a way to automatically grab all the elements on the page using Selenium?

When creating tests for .Net applications, I can use the White library to find all elements of a given type. I can then write these elements to an Xml file, so they can be referenced and used for GUI tests. This is much faster than manually recording each individual element's info, so I would like to do the same for web applications using Selenium. I haven't been able to find any info on this yet. I would like to be able to search for every element of a given type and save its information (location/XPath, value, and label) so I can write it to a text file later.

Entity Framework 4 and 0:1, 0:1 relationships

I'm using the Model First approach with EF 4 and hit a snag with two tables, Participant (singular because pre-existing from another app) and ActiveParticipants. A Participant may or may not be associated with exactly one ActiveParticipant and vice versa. When I create an association, everything seems to go well on the surface, but then I get a runtime error complaining that Participant does not contain the column ActiveParticipant_Id. It does contain a column ActiveParticipantId (no underscore). When I view the diagram as XML, there's a line like this: <Property Name="ActiveParticipant_Id" Type="uniqueidentifier" Nullable="true" /> Why is it adding an underscore? Is there anything special I need to do for 0:1, 0:1 relationships?

I have the following XML: Picture 1 Picture 2 Picture 3 While this XSL does what is expected (output the attr of the first picture): It seems to be not possible to do the same inside the variable declaration using xsl:copy-of: Curious: If I just select "$FirstPicture" instead of "$FirstPicture/@attr" in the second example, it outputs the text node of Picture 1 as expected... Before you all suggest me to rewrite the code: This is just a simplified test, my real aim is to use a named template to select a node into the variable FirstPicture and reuse it for further selections. I hope someone could help me to understand the behavior or could suggest me a proper way to select a node with code which could be easily reused (the decission which node is the first one is complex in my real application). c# user notification while waiting

Hi, I am writing a simple win forms app in C#. There is a method call in my method which loads files but is taking a while to respond. Below is the method call Directory.GetFiles(selectedFolder, "*.xml", SearchOption.AllDirectories); I want to notify this to users. Is there a way to show them that file loading is in progress? I want a simplest way. I suppose Splash screen is too costly for my app. Thanks, Sid
