  Hi, I'm writing a bash script that will show me what TV programs to watch today, it will get this information from a text file. The text is in the following format: Monday: Family Guy (2nd May) Tuesday: House The Big Bang Theory (3rd May) Wednesday: The Bill NCIS NCIS LA (27th April) Thursday: South Park Friday: FlashForward Saturday: Sunday: HIGNFY Underbelly I'm planning to use 'date +%A' to work out the day of the week and use the output in a grep regex to return the appropriate lines from my text file. If someone can help me with the regex I should be using I would be eternally great full.

• NavigateUrl="#" becomes href="SubFolder/#"??

  This isn't exactly Fermat's last theorem, but it keeps coming back to annoy me like an unpaid phone bill from college. Sometimes I want to create a HyperLink that does not cause a postback, so I want the target url to be #. When the markup happens to be from a UserControl in a subfolder, / |- Home.aspx (uses UC.ascx) |- Sub |- UC.ascx the URL is rewritten with a relative path, e.g. <asp:HyperLink runat="server" NavigateUrl="#" >Click Me!</asp:HyperLink> becomes <a href="SubFolder/#">Click Me!</a> Which is, unfortunately, wrong. Obviously I can get around this by not using a server control, but it seems stupid. Can this be avoided? The point here is I will add a click event with jQuery or in code-behind, and I never want it to cause a postback, but I want it to be a hyperlink for CSS reasons.

• do people value information or aesthetic value of websites ? [closed]

  I'm thinking, why does the web have to be so colorful. meaning, all the information is buried deep beneath layers of flash, javascripts, html and images. Sure, a good positioning of these media files, create an aesthetic value but how important is it to the user ? moreover, aren't people looking for information after all ? why can't the internet be a uniform looking data warehouse ? now we've gotta digg through all the aesthetic junk, using shady web scraping techniques, unless RSS or API is provided. why can't we settle for just a dull grey button and framesets for navigation ? why can't all sites have navigation frame on the left and top ? why can't all sites put their damn data always in normalized table tag ?

• PHP IF statement not taking variable into account!

  I have a tabled view in a while loop, where a user can view information on books. For example, book ISBN, book name, read status... Basically, when the user sets their 'readstatus' to 'complete' I want that specific table row to become grey! The logic is very straight forward, however I can't get my IF statement to recognise this: $readstatus = $_GET['readstatus']; if ($readstatus == 'complete') { echo '<tr class="completed">'; } else if ($readstatus != 'complete') { echo '<tr class="reading">'; } I'm obviously doing something wrong here, but all I need is the CSS class of the table row to change if the value of 'readstatus' = 'complete', if not, then output the default CSS table row color ('reading') Should I be putting $result as the variable or something? I have this coming just before my nested IF statement: $result = mysql_query($sql, $connection) or die ("Couldn't perform query $sql <br />".mysql_error()); while($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { ?>

• Adding on touch event to images inside gridview

  I have a gridview where each item has a image and a textview (an app), i added the onItemClick to the gridview in order to launch the app, i also removed the orange selection and made selector in xml so when pressed the text would change to grey and on release it would return to white. My problem is that i need the image to apply an alpha value when pressed and restore the previous alpha on release i tested a lot of ways and none did worked correctly. I came close with the updated answer from the autor of the question: How to set alpha value for drawable in a StateListDrawable?, but some how the state pressed never gets called, i don´t know if this is because i am using the onitemClick to launch the app or not. Also i since i can´t define the alpha on imageview xml i don´t know what else to do Any help will be appreciated

• How can you prevent a window being captured by Print-Screen?

  I noticed a few times than when I print-screen while Media Player is running, the content is replaced with a grey rectangle. I've no idea if it's deliberate due to DRM, or some technical issue, but it struck me that being able to deliberately block screen-capture might be a useful feature in some scenarios. Is there some specific message each HWND gets for print-screen - does Windows do a special repaint or simply dump buffers to the clipboard? I guess I'd prefer to focus this on Win32 specifically, but as long as it's Windows-related then fine.

  I am trying to run this SQL from ASP.NET 2005 but am getting an invalid SQL error because it has a weird character ” in it. In my code I am trying to replace ” with " but it is not doing it as the special character in the replace command is changing to ". Query: insert into userquery(description) values ('In fact, Topeka Google Mayor Bill Bunten expressed it best: “Don’t be fooled. Even Google recognizes that all roads lead to Kansas, not just yellow brick ones.”') If I copy and execute this in mysql it is working good. How can I solve this problem?

  In visual basic, when in the "frmMain Events: Load", I get the following error The type initializer for 'projData.projDataModule' threw an exception. when running the code: var = 180 "var" is defined in projDataModule as Module projDataModule Public var As Double End Module When I rebuild the solution, It says "0 errors, 0 warnings" and will actually compile, however the Error list shows the following error: Error 1 Custom tool error: Failed to generate file: There is an error in XML document (1, 1). I:\Documents and Settings\Bill\Desktop\Projects\Data\My Project\Application.myapp 1 1 Data Any ideas or help at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  I have been following the answer of this question: How to update existing object in core data? and in the answer it comes across this line of code to update a record within the array: Favorits* favoritsGrabbed = [results objectAtIndex:0]; Now this updates whatever is set a record 0 of the database, no matter what cell I select to edit. I am sorry but I cannot figure out how to change it into updating the cell I have selected. Starting to grow grey hairs here:-) The problem (maybe it is my mindset) is that I am required to give an integer and I am unable to find something to substitute it. Any help would be great.

• How do you calculate expanding mean on time series using pandas?

  How would you create a column(s) in the below pandas DataFrame where the new columns are the expanding mean/median of 'val' for each 'Mod_ID_x'. Imagine this as if were time series data and 'ID' 1-2 was on Day 1 and 'ID' 3-4 was on Day 2. • How should I display invalid options?

  I've got a WinForms client-server app that displays various offers in a list. Every user (client) has a "rating". An offer consists of various data including a minimum and maximum rating. If a user's rating does not fall in that interval, he should not be able to take the offer. Of course I could just perform some server filtering and send a list of offers prefiltered for each user to the client application. But that would surely, and rightfully, lead to confused requests "Why isn't this offer showing up? I know it exists, it shows up on [other user]'s screen." How should I handle this? My favorite solution so far is to grey out the offer and add a tooltip "You can't take this offer because your rating is too high/low" while displaying greyed-out offers at the bottom of the list to leave the actually valid offers easily visible on top of the list.

• wordpress: previous_post_link() / next_post_link() placeholder

  I am having trouble with the previous_post_link() and next_post_link() functionality. When there is no previous post, the function previous_post_link() does not display a link, likewise for the next_post_link() and the last post. I would like to have a placeholder image so that the design stays consistent. Currently I have images of green arrows pointing left and right, I would like to place an image of a grey arrow if there are no more posts to go back to. Is there a way to use the next_post_link()/previous_post_link() functions but not have the link removed. I also wonder if there is a way for the links to cycle, so that if you come to the most recent post, the next post link would bring you back to the first post.

• Latest stream cipher considered reasonably secure & easy to implement?

  (A)RC4 used to fit the bill, since it was so simple to write. But it's also less-than-secure these days. I'm wondering if there's a successor that's: Code is small enough to write & debug within an hour or so, using pseudo code as a template. Still considered secure, as of 2010. Optimized for software. Not encumbered by licensing issues. I can't use crypto libraries, otherwise all of this would be moot. Also, I'll consider block algorithms though I think most are pretty hefty. Thanks.

• Content border not showing in any browser!

  I have been working on a project for a few days now and have just recently noticed that the border of 2 of my content areas are not showing in Mozilla or IE. http://www.gamefriction.com/Coded/ is where the page is located. If you look at the main content area where the "news" is you will see that there is a 1px solid border that is a slightly darker grey than the 4px border surrounding each content box. On the right column content the 1px solid #dfdfdf; border does not show. I can't seem to find any reason why this is not showing. Any ideas?

• Good Scoop: The PeopleSoft/IBM Backstory

  Sometimes you're searching for something online and you find an unrelated, bonus nugget. Last week I stumbled across an interesting blog post from Chris Heller of a PeopleSoft consulting shop in San Ramon, CA called Grey Sparling. I don't know these guys. But Chris, who apparently used to work on the PeopleTools team, wrote a great article on a pre-acquisition, would-be deal between IBM and PeopleSoft that would have standardized PeopleSoft on IBM technology. The behind-the-scenes perspective is interesting. His commentary on the challenges that the company and PeopleSoft customers would have encountered if the deal had gone through was also interesting: ·         "No common ownership. It's hard enough to get large groups of people to work together when they work for the same company, but with two separate companies it is much, much harder. Even within Oracle, progress on Fusion applications was slow until Thomas Kurian took over Fusion applications in addition to Fusion middleware." ·         "No customer buy-in. PeopleSoft customers weren't asking for a conversion to WebSphere, so the fact that doing that could have helped PeopleSoft stay independent wouldn't have meant much to them, especially since the cost of moving to whatever a "PeopleSoft built on WebSphere" would have been significant." ·         "No executive buy-in. This is related to the previous point, but it's worth calling out separately. If Oracle had walked away and the deal with IBM had gone through, and PeopleSoft customers got put through the wringer as part of WebSphere move, all of the PeopleSoft project teams would be put in the awkward position of explaining to their management why these additional costs and headaches were happening. Essentially they would need to "sell" the partnership internally to their own management team. That's not a fun conversation to have." I'm not surprised that something like this was in the works. But I did find the inside scoop and Heller's perspective on the challenges particularly interesting.   Are you looking for a way to manage your Twitter, Facebook, Google Buzz, LinkedIn, and Foursquare accounts all in one place? Using the Seesmic Web App for Chrome and Iron you can access your favorite accounts and manage them in a single, simple-to-use interface. A feature that we loved from the start was the ability to access Twitter without creating a special Seesmic account. And in these days of multiple accounts who needs another one to complicate things up? All that you need to do is to sign in with your user name/e-mail along with your password. You do have to authorize access for Seesmic to connect with your account but the whole process (login & authorization) is handled in a single window instance.   Oracle Communications Billing and Revenue Management (Oracle BRM) is the telcos industry´s leading solution intended for communications service providers. This post encourages to know BRM starting with the basics. History Portal was a billing and revenue managament solution to communications industry created by Portal Software. In 2006 Oracle acquired Portal Software and the solution was renamed BRM. Today Oracle BRM is the first end-to-end packaged enterprise software suite for the communications industry, however BRM is just one more product in the catalog of OSS solutions that Oracle offers. BRM can bill and manage all communications services including wireline, wireless, broadband, cable, voice over IP, IPTV, music, and video. BRM Architecture BRM´s architecture consists of 4 layers or tiers. Through these layers are the data, bussines logic and interfaces to connect graphical client tools.Application tier This layer provides GUI client tools enabling communication to other layers through open APIs. Bussines Process Tier Although all layers are equally important, I think it deserves more atention because in this tier BRM functionality is implemented. All functions that give life to BRM are in this layer coded in C language called Opcodes (System Processes in the image). Any changes or additional functionality should be made here, so when we try to customize the product, we will most of the time programming in this layer (Business Policies in the image).Bussines Process Tier Features: Implements Portal system functionalityValidates data from the application tierModifies Portal behavior through business policies. Business policies can by customized.Triggers external systems using event notification. Object Tier This layer is responsible for transfer the BRM requests into database language and translate BRM requests into external system requests. Without it, the business logic (data from Bussines Process Tier) could not be understood by the relational database. Data tier Data tier is responsable for the storage of BRM database and other external systems databases. External systems include credit card, tax, and directory servers. Finally, It's important to note that BRM is designed to easily integrate with the following solutions:AIA 2.4 Siebel CRM E-Business Suite - G/L onlyCommunications Services Gatekeeper Oracle BI Publisher. Personally, I think that BRM could improve migrating client-server architecture to a fully web platform that works with Oracle Middleware like any product of the Fusion Middleware family. Hopefully there are already initiatives in this area.

• What are the options for hosting a small Plone site? [closed]

  Possible Duplicate: How to find web hosting that meets my requirements? I’ve developed a portfolio website for myself using Plone 4, and I’m looking for someplace to host it. Most Plone hosting services seem to focus on large, corporate deployments, but I need something that I can afford on a very limited budget and fits a small, single-admin website. My understanding is that my basic options are thus: I can go with a hosting service that specifically provides Plone. I know of WebFaction, but what others exist? Also, I’d have two stipulations for a Plone hosting service: (a) It needs to use Plone 4, for which I’ve developed my site, and (b) it needs to allow me SSH access to a home directory (including the Plone configuration), so that I may use my custom development eggs and such. I could use a VPS hosting service. What are my options here? Again, I need something cheap and scaled to my level. I could use Amazon EC2 or a similar service (please tell me of any) and pay by the tiniest unit of data. I’m a little scared of this because I have no idea how to do a cost-benefit analysis between this and a regular VPS host. The advantage of this approach would be that I only pay for what I use, making it very scalable, but I don’t know how the overall cost would compare to any VPS host under similar circumstances. What factors enter into the cost of Amazon EC2? What can I expect to pay under either option for regular traffic for a new website? Which one is more desirable for when a rush of visitors drive up my bandwidth bill? One last note: I know Plone isn’t common for websites for individuals, but please don’t try to talk me out of it here; that’s a completely different subject. For now, assume I’m sticking with Plone for good. Also, I have seen the Plone hosting services list on Plone.org—it’s twenty pages long, and the first page was nothing but professional Plone consulting services that sometimes offer hosting for business clients. So, that wasn’t much help. Thank you!
