  I'm practicing application of microdata via http://schema.org. Anyone who's browsed the documentation there knows that there's a lot of need for improvement for more clear understandings on use for each property. My question on this post is more about the "significantLinks" property and how it effects SEO for on page, in content anchored text. Does anyone have any more information regarding whether its good to use for link optimization? I understand what schema.org means that it's to be used on "non-navigational links" and those links should be relevant to the current page's meaning. But will using this property hurt SEO or make SEO better for each page?

• How to build list of items available in World of Warcraft?

  There are a number of non-Blizzard sites that show a complete list of available items in World of Warcraft (such as wowhead, etc). I would like to know the best (easiest) way to compile a similar list. I believe some sites are based on user-entered input, which I would like to avoid. Looking at the lua API, it seems that there are functions to get a list of items, but it's not clear if I can just download everything (I remember a reference to throttling somewhere, can't find it now). Does anyone have code samples that would do this, or links to source? Also, Eve Online has made a database of items available (and I do mean SQL database file for download, not the Armory) - is there anything similar for Wow? I'm just looking for the names and stats, not the graphic icons.

• Problem after last update

  I am having a problem after the last update, the booting to command line problem I even can't start in the graphic fail system "xfail": X: cannot stat /etc/X11/X (no such file or directory), aborting I found some one mentioning a solution which is installing ubuntu-dektop though apt-get but it failed due to this error: Unmet dependencies " the dependencies are xserver-xorg-video-all and xserver-xorg-input" Tried to install these first also another dependencies problem. Solutions I tried: removing and installing nvidia driver removing and installing xserver Tried different versions of nvidia including the latest one which is the one I had before the update Any ideas?

• Ubuntu on low powered laptop

  First off, I am new to Ubuntu. I come from a Windows background (DOS before that) and am loving it so far. I installed it on an older Dell laptop that I wanted to get another year out of. I set this machine up primarily as a LAMP development machine for a project I am working on. The machine is a Vostro 1500 and it has 4GB RAM (maxed) and an upgraded hard drive. I can't watch YouTube videos for long before it starts to overheat and start acting sporadic. I can live without YouTube but every so often the application switching (alt-tab) gets slower and begins not showing all applications and the Dash home quits displaying properly. I am sure I am asking a lot of this old machine. What I really want to know is: are there any settings in Ubuntu that allow me to lower the graphic effects (fade-ins, transparencies, fancy transitions, etc) that would be less taxing on the video card?

• Does anyone use 12.04 with HD 6950?

  Back when I first tried to switch from Windows to Ubuntu (6-7 months ago) I had several graphics related problems. The VGA was overheating, graphic glitches, video playing issues, slow/choppy window movements etc. After 2-3 reinstalls, hours of playing with different drivers/settings I decided to return to Windows :\ Now I want to give it another shot. But before I start to format, partitioning, backup and other time consuming stuff I wanted to ask if anyone using the 12.04 with HD 6950. Can I utilize the full potential of it, or the drivers are still not good enough? I know that Linux isn't meant to play games in the first place, but the games I playing (SC2, BLC, HoN, DotA 2) are working with wine as far as I know (or aren't?) and I can't find any reason not to switch from Windows if I can utilize the full potential of my config in Ubuntu. So anyone who got experiences with this VGA in Ubuntu please reply. Thanks in advance :)

  Hello I'm trying to make some kind of tool for an school website, what I need to do is to make students take a test and according to what are the results (27 posibilities) they get a set of activities (questions) according to their level which they can solve in around 3 months logging periodically to the website, plus I need teachers to log and look at the reports. Now, I'm a graphic designer myself so my skills are mostly html5 and css3 and I know some php (edit existing ones only) and javascript (jquery) as well, most people tell me that I need a CMS to do the tool but all I find is CMS for display like blogs or news websites which I think aren't useful for me because the website is already made in html and css3 only (I need to add an extra page for the tool) I understand I need to create users and give them special rights according to what type of user they are and I also understand that I need a database where I can store all my questions. What is the best way to do this? what do you suggest me? Thanks

I'd like to start developing games, by getting a job or making my own project, but: 1) I have no experience developing video games, is that an obstacle if I want to get a job? if is that so, how can I solve it? 2) if I want to make my own project I will need more people, like a graphic disigner or some others, isn't there a way to make the whole game by my own?

I tried to use a reference device but it seems to run very slowly, then I found some samples in C++ that allows me to change to a WARP device and the performance is good.   I am using Bootable USB for installing Ubuntu with Windows 8.1. I have put pendrive and then booting my USB. When it shows me to try Ubuntu or install Ubuntu. Then I press Try ubuntu and then it says" "The system is running in low graphics mode". Then I press Ok. Then it shows 4 options. Then again I click Ok. Then it shows a black screen and nothing happens. I have tried all possible answers provided in AU. What should I do? Please help. I am using Windows 8.1 with dedicated graphic card (Video card - AMD Radeon HD 8670M). Installing 12.04 LTS with pre-installe Windows 8.1 in a Dell Laptop 3537 inspiron.

• Split Texture2D Across Line

  Background I'm using a texture as a damage map represented by an array of floats for displaying damage effects on a space ship in a process. An upside of this is being able to 'slice' ships in half, using an input damage map with a line down the middle, as shown in the diagram below. Question However, I'm encountering problems separating this split ship into two different entities. I would like to be able to split the image down the 'damage line', in a process similar to this: I don't have much idea where to start detecting the red line above. Any advice would be welcome.

  I'm reworking our site to reduce HTTP requests and blocking requests by concatenating JS, css, gzipping, loading all JS via LABjs and using CSS sprites for images that were loaded individually via <img> tags before. Progress has been great so far - 5x page load performance improvement. However, we're in the top 5 organic search ranking in google for many targeted keywords and phrases. I'm afraid eliminating so many img tags with alt attributes can hurt our SEO. Does anyone have any experience with alt tag manip/removal and effects on SEO positions? Is previous rank "sticky"?

• Is there a way to specify a CSS3 transition to occur only on :hover and when returning from hover, not on every event? [closed]

  You could define the transition on the :hover event, which causes the browser to render only the effect into the hover and not out of it. a:hover { transition... } Using scale as an example, an image being scaled up would scale up on hover, but go straight back down without any transition when the cursor leaves the image. Or, you can set the transition on the element directly: a { transition... } Which by definition means any change that effects the scale of the element such as any developer set styles will work, but also the user zooming in and out the page, will cause there to be a transition. All the tutorials being spewed onto the internet at the moment point to using the latter, but wouldn't one consider this a usability flaw for anyone wanting to resize the page or taking any other action that may cause similar scenarios? Pages with large amounts of transitional hover scaling can go pretty mental if you zoom in and out of them.

  I checked System Monitor to see if the frequency of my CPU increases without doing anything and saw that xorg is always using 10-40% of the CPU even if it's not doing much of anything on the desktop or simply surfing the Internet.   I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 with Gnome Classic (no effects) and because of the fact that some system options have disappeared with the new system release I've been struggling with this for a while and despite this seems very easy I can't do this :/ - does anyone know how to choose a GDM Theme? I'm quite sure that GDM is now in use on my Ubuntu - I set it up with: sudo dpkg-reconfigure gdm Despite I moved the theme folder to /usr/share/gdm/themes nothing has changed by now, I've logged out and in a couple of times but everytime I get the standard log in window and wallpaper (different from mine). This way I have a terminal on the machine and if, for example, I run the command 'firefox' a firefox window is opened in Windows (while it is really running on the Linux machine). I want to do the same thing from other Linux machine (they are both Ubuntu machine) connect by SSH and become this connection X Server so any graphic component will be opened on local machine.   I wanted to upgrade from 11.10 to 12.04 with the built-in upgrade-feature. but during the upgrade my pc stopped working. When I restarted my PC Ubuntu starts OK, but with many errors (many apps don't work and some graphic-errors). I try to upgrade again to 12.04, but I can't, because my Ubuntu identifies itself as 12.04. I tried to upgrade with the cd-setup but this also doesn't work. Major technique I have found so far are two: Some use a overlay and underlay div and fade in and out each others visibility. While others, create a div of exact size of the slider on the slider-initialization and play with its z-index property and then fade each other consequently. My question follows: i would like to use the left monitor only to display workspace1 and the right monitor to display workspace2. Is this possible ?   I installed WorldOfGooSetup.1.41.deb and it didn't work. There was a segmentation fault error (core dumped) in terminal. I fixed that with: sudo cp /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libvorbis.so.* /opt/WorldOfGoo/libs32 sudo cp /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libvorbis.so.* /opt/WorldOfGoo/libs64 That error is new for me as I have never had it before with previous releases of Ubuntu. The game starts now but no sound effects or music is played. I can hear music with my computer, videos, etc, so it is not a volume control problem. I am using ubuntu 12.04 final release.
