  • Wrapping a pure virtual method with multiple arguments with Boost.Python

    Hello, I followed the "official" tutorial and others but still don't manage to expose this pure virtual method (getPeptide) : ms_mascotresults.hpp class ms_mascotresults { public: ms_mascotresults(ms_mascotresfile &resfile, const unsigned int flags, double minProbability, int maxHitsToReport, const char * unigeneIndexFile, const char * singleHit = 0); ... virtual ms_peptide getPeptide(const int q, const int p) const = 0; } ms_mascotresults.cpp #include <boost/python.hpp> using namespace boost::python; #include "msparser.hpp" // which includes "ms_mascotresults.hpp" using namespace matrix_science; #include <iostream> #include <sstream> struct ms_mascotresults_wrapper : ms_mascotresults, wrapper<ms_mascotresults> { ms_peptide getPeptide(const int q, const int p) { this->get_override("getPeptide")(q); this->get_override("getPeptide")(p); } }; BOOST_PYTHON_MODULE(ms_mascotresults) { class_<ms_mascotresults_wrapper, boost::noncopyable>("ms_mascotresults") .def("getPeptide", pure_virtual(&ms_mascotresults::getPeptide) ) ; } Here are the bjam's errors : /usr/local/boost_1_42_0/boost/python/object/value_holder.hpp:66: error: cannot declare field ‘boost::python::objects::value_holder<ms_mascotresults_wrapper>::m_held’ to be of abstract type ‘ms_mascotresults_wrapper’ ms_mascotresults.cpp:12: note: because the following virtual functions are pure within ‘ms_mascotresults_wrapper’: ... include/ms_mascotresults.hpp:334: note: virtual matrix_science::ms_peptide matrix_science::ms_mascotresults::getPeptide(int, int) const ms_mascotresults.cpp: In constructor ‘ms_mascotresults_wrapper::ms_mascotresults_wrapper()’: ms_mascotresults.cpp:12: error: no matching function for call to ‘matrix_science::ms_mascotresults::ms_mascotresults()’ include/ms_mascotresults.hpp:284: note: candidates are: matrix_science::ms_mascotresults::ms_mascotresults(matrix_science::ms_mascotresfile&, unsigned int, double, int, const char*, const char*) include/ms_mascotresults.hpp:109: note: matrix_science::ms_mascotresults::ms_mascotresults(const matrix_science::ms_mascotresults&) ... /usr/local/boost_1_42_0/boost/python/object/value_holder.hpp: In constructor ‘boost::python::objects::value_holder<Value>::value_holder(PyObject*) [with Value = ms_mascotresults_wrapper]’: /usr/local/boost_1_42_0/boost/python/object/value_holder.hpp:137: note: synthesized method ‘ms_mascotresults_wrapper::ms_mascotresults_wrapper()’ first required here /usr/local/boost_1_42_0/boost/python/object/value_holder.hpp:137: error: cannot allocate an object of abstract type ‘ms_mascotresults_wrapper’ ms_mascotresults.cpp:12: note: since type ‘ms_mascotresults_wrapper’ has pure virtual functions So I tried to change the constructor's signature by : BOOST_PYTHON_MODULE(ms_mascotresults) { //class_<ms_mascotresults_wrapper, boost::noncopyable>("ms_mascotresults") class_<ms_mascotresults_wrapper, boost::noncopyable>("ms_mascotresults", init<ms_mascotresfile &, const unsigned int, double, int, const char *,const char *>()) .def("getPeptide", pure_virtual(&ms_mascotresults::getPeptide) ) Giving these errors : /usr/local/boost_1_42_0/boost/python/object/value_holder.hpp:66: error: cannot declare field ‘boost::python::objects::value_holder<ms_mascotresults_wrapper>::m_held’ to be of abstract type ‘ms_mascotresults_wrapper’ ms_mascotresults.cpp:12: note: because the following virtual functions are pure within ‘ms_mascotresults_wrapper’: include/ms_mascotresults.hpp:334: note: virtual matrix_science::ms_peptide matrix_science::ms_mascotresults::getPeptide(int, int) const ... ms_mascotresults.cpp:24: instantiated from here /usr/local/boost_1_42_0/boost/python/object/value_holder.hpp:137: error: no matching function for call to ‘ms_mascotresults_wrapper::ms_mascotresults_wrapper(matrix_science::ms_mascotresfile&, const unsigned int&, const double&, const int&, const char* const&, const char* const&)’ ms_mascotresults.cpp:12: note: candidates are: ms_mascotresults_wrapper::ms_mascotresults_wrapper(const ms_mascotresults_wrapper&) ms_mascotresults.cpp:12: note: ms_mascotresults_wrapper::ms_mascotresults_wrapper() If I comment the virtual function getPeptide in the .hpp, it builds perfectly with this constructor : class_<ms_mascotresults>("ms_mascotresults", init<ms_mascotresfile &, const unsigned int, double, int, const char *,const char *>() ) So I'm a bit lost...

  • C++ includes with and without .h

    - by wyatt
    I've never noticed it making any difference whether or not I include the .h at the end of an include, so I've always ignored the meaning, but I've just noticed in a particular program of mine, I get the error "memcpy was not declared in this scope" if I include "string", but not if I include "string.h". First of all, I was wondering the specific cause of this, but also generally the difference between the two. At the same time, if someone could explain the difference between includes in angular brackets and those in quotation marks, It'd be much appreciated.

  • Floating point vs integer calculations on modern hardware

    - by maxpenguin
    I am doing some performance critical work in C++, and we are currently using integer calculations for problems that are inherently floating point because "its faster". This causes a whole lot of annoying problems and adds a lot of annoying code. Now, I remember reading about how floating point calculations were so slow approximately circa the 386 days, where I believe (IIRC) that there was an optional co-proccessor. But surely nowadays with exponentially more complex and powerful CPUs it makes no difference in "speed" if doing floating point or integer calculation? Especially since the actual calculation time is tiny compared to something like causing a pipeline stall or fetching something from main memory? I know the correct answer is to benchmark on the target hardware, what would be a good way to test this? I wrote two tiny C++ programs and compared their run time with "time" on Linux, but the actual run time is too variable (doesn't help I am running on a virtual server). Short of spending my entire day running hundreds of benchmarks, making graphs etc. is there something I can do to get a reasonable test of the relative speed? Any ideas or thoughts? Am I completely wrong? The programs I used as follows, they are not identical by any means: #include <iostream> #include <cmath> #include <cstdlib> #include <time.h> int main( int argc, char** argv ) { int accum = 0; srand( time( NULL ) ); for( unsigned int i = 0; i < 100000000; ++i ) { accum += rand( ) % 365; } std::cout << accum << std::endl; return 0; } Program 2: #include <iostream> #include <cmath> #include <cstdlib> #include <time.h> int main( int argc, char** argv ) { float accum = 0; srand( time( NULL ) ); for( unsigned int i = 0; i < 100000000; ++i ) { accum += (float)( rand( ) % 365 ); } std::cout << accum << std::endl; return 0; } Thanks in advance!

  • Problem with std::map and std::pair

    Hi everyone. I have a small program I want to execute to test something #include <map> #include <iostream> using namespace std; struct _pos{ float xi; float xf; bool operator<(_pos& other){ return this->xi < other.xi; } }; struct _val{ float f; }; int main() { map<_pos,_val> m; struct _pos k1 = {0,10}; struct _pos k2 = {10,15}; struct _val v1 = {5.5}; struct _val v2 = {12.3}; m.insert(std::pair<_pos,_val>(k1,v1)); m.insert(std::pair<_pos,_val>(k2,v2)); return 0; } The problem is that when I try to compile it, I get the following error $ g++ m2.cpp -o mtest In file included from /usr/include/c++/4.4/bits/stl_tree.h:64, from /usr/include/c++/4.4/map:60, from m2.cpp:1: /usr/include/c++/4.4/bits/stl_function.h: In member function ‘bool std::less<_Tp>::operator()(const _Tp&, const _Tp&) const [with _Tp = _pos]’: /usr/include/c++/4.4/bits/stl_tree.h:1170: instantiated from ‘std::pair<typename std::_Rb_tree<_Key, _Val, _KeyOfValue, _Compare, _Alloc>::iterator, bool> std::_Rb_tree<_Key, _Val, _KeyOfValue, _Compare, _Alloc>::_M_insert_unique(const _Val&) [with _Key = _pos, _Val = std::pair<const _pos, _val>, _KeyOfValue = std::_Select1st<std::pair<const _pos, _val> >, _Compare = std::less<_pos>, _Alloc = std::allocator<std::pair<const _pos, _val> >]’ /usr/include/c++/4.4/bits/stl_map.h:500: instantiated from ‘std::pair<typename std::_Rb_tree<_Key, std::pair<const _Key, _Tp>, std::_Select1st<std::pair<const _Key, _Tp> >, _Compare, typename _Alloc::rebind<std::pair<const _Key, _Tp> >::other>::iterator, bool> std::map<_Key, _Tp, _Compare, _Alloc>::insert(const std::pair<const _Key, _Tp>&) [with _Key = _pos, _Tp = _val, _Compare = std::less<_pos>, _Alloc = std::allocator<std::pair<const _pos, _val> >]’ m2.cpp:30: instantiated from here /usr/include/c++/4.4/bits/stl_function.h:230: error: no match for ‘operator<’ in ‘__x < __y’ m2.cpp:9: note: candidates are: bool _pos::operator<(_pos&) $ I thought that declaring the operator< on the key would solve the problem, but its still there.   • pthread and recursively calling execvp in C

    - by eduke
    To begin I'm sorry for my english :) I looking for a way to create a thread each time my program finds a directory, in order to call the program itself but with a new argv[2] argument (which is the current dir). I did it successfully with fork() but with pthread I've some difficulties. I don't know if I can do something like that : #include <unistd.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <stdio.h> #include <string.h> #include <sys/types.h> #include <sys/stat.h> #include <sys/wait.h> #include <dirent.h> int main(int argc, char **argv) { pthread_t threadID[10] = {0}; DIR * dir; struct dirent * entry; struct stat status; pthread_attr_t attr; pthread_attr_init(&attr); int i = 0; char *res; char *tmp; char *file; if(argc != 3) { printf("Usage : %s <file> <dir>\n", argv[0]); exit(EXIT_FAILURE); } if(stat(argv[2],&status) == 0) { dir = opendir(argv[2]); file = argv[1]; } else exit(EXIT_FAILURE); while ((entry = readdir(dir))) { if (strcmp(entry->d_name, ".") && strcmp(entry->d_name, "..")) { tmp = malloc(strlen(argv[2]) + strlen(entry->d_name) + 2); strcpy(tmp, argv[2]); strcat(tmp, "/"); strcat(tmp, entry->d_name); stat(tmp, &status); if (S_ISDIR(status.st_mode)) { argv[2] = tmp; pthread_create( &threadID[i], &attr, execvp(argv[0], argv), NULL); printf("New thread created : %d", i); i++; } else if (!strcmp(entry->d_name, file)) { printf(" %s was found - Thread number = %d\n",tmp, i); break; } free(tmp); } } pthread_join( threadID[i] , &res ); exit(EXIT_SUCCESS); } Actually it doesn't works : pthread_create( &threadID[i], &attr, execvp(argv[0], argv), NULL); I have no runtime error, but when the file to find is in another directory, the thread is not created and so execvp(argv[0], argv) is not called... Thank you for you help, Simon

  • Emacs, C++ code completion for vectors

    - by Caglar Toklu
    Hi, I am new to Emacs, and I have the following code as a sample. I have installed GNU Emacs 23.1.1 (i386-mingw-nt6.1.7600), installed cedet-1.0pre7.tar.gz. , installed ELPA, and company. You can find my simple Emacs configuration at the bottom. The problem is, when I type q[0] in main() and press . (dot), I see the 37 members of the vector, not Person although first_name and last_name are expected. The completion works as expected in the function greet() but it has nothing to do with vector. My question is, how can I accomplish code completion for vector elements too? #include <iostream> #include <vector> using namespace std; class Person { public: string first_name; string last_name; }; void greet(Person a_person) { // a_person.first_name is completed as expected! cout << a_person.first_name << "|"; cout << a_person.last_name << endl; }; int main() { vector<Person> q(2); Person guy1; guy1.first_name = "foo"; guy1.last_name = "bar"; Person guy2; guy2.first_name = "stack"; guy2.last_name = "overflow"; q[0] = guy1; q[1] = guy2; greet(guy1); greet(guy2); // cout q[0]. I want to see first_name or last_name here! } My Emacs configuration: ;;; This was installed by package-install.el. ;;; This provides support for the package system and ;;; interfacing with ELPA, the package archive. ;;; Move this code earlier if you want to reference ;;; packages in your .emacs. (when (load (expand-file-name "~/.emacs.d/elpa/package.el")) (package-initialize)) (load-file "~/.emacs.d/cedet/common/cedet.el") (semantic-load-enable-excessive-code-helpers) (require 'semantic-ia) (global-srecode-minor-mode 1) (semantic-add-system-include "/gcc/include/c++/4.4.2" 'c++-mode) (semantic-add-system-include "/gcc/i386-pc-mingw32/include" 'c++-mode) (semantic-add-system-include "/gcc/include" 'c++-mode) (defun my-semantic-hook () (imenu-add-to-menubar "TAGS")) (add-hook 'semantic-init-hooks 'my-semantic-hook)

  • Illegal Instruction When Programming C++ on Linux

    - by remagen
    Heyo, My program, which does exactly the same thing every time it runs (moves a point sprite into the distance) will randomly fail with the text on the terminal 'Illegal Instruction'. My googling has found people encountering this when writing assembly which makes sense because assembly throws those kinds of errors. But why would g++ be generating an illegal instruction like this? It's not like I'm compiling for Windows then running on Linux (which even then, as long as both are on x86 shouldn't AFAIK cause an Illegal Instruction). I'll post the main file below. I can't reliably reproduce the error. Although, if I make random changes (add a space here, change a constant there) that force a recompile I can get a binary which will fail with Illegal Instruction every time it is run, until I try setting a break point, which makes the illegal instruction 'dissapear'. :( #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <GL/gl.h> #include <GL/glu.h> #include <SDL/SDL.h> #include "Screen.h" //Simple SDL wrapper #include "Textures.h" //Simple OpenGL texture wrapper #include "PointSprites.h" //Simple point sprites wrapper double counter = 0; /* Here goes our drawing code */ int drawGLScene() { /* These are to calculate our fps */ static GLint T0 = 0; static GLint Frames = 0; /* Move Left 1.5 Units And Into The Screen 6.0 */ glLoadIdentity(); glTranslatef(0.0f, 0.0f, -6); glClear(GL_COLOR_BUFFER_BIT | GL_DEPTH_BUFFER_BIT | GL_STENCIL_BUFFER_BIT); glEnable(GL_POINT_SPRITE_ARB); glTexEnvi(GL_POINT_SPRITE, GL_COORD_REPLACE, GL_TRUE); glBegin( GL_POINTS ); /* Drawing Using Triangles */ glVertex3d(0.0,0.0, 0); glVertex3d(1.0,0.0, 0); glVertex3d(1.0,1.0, counter); glVertex3d(0.0,1.0, 0); glEnd( ); /* Finished Drawing The Triangle */ /* Move Right 3 Units */ /* Draw it to the screen */ SDL_GL_SwapBuffers( ); /* Gather our frames per second */ Frames++; { GLint t = SDL_GetTicks(); if (t - T0 >= 50) { GLfloat seconds = (t - T0) / 1000.0; GLfloat fps = Frames / seconds; printf("%d frames in %g seconds = %g FPS\n", Frames, seconds, fps); T0 = t; Frames = 0; counter -= .1; } } return 1; } GLuint objectID; int main( int argc, char **argv ) { Screen screen; screen.init(); screen.resize(800,600); LoadBMP("./dist/Debug/GNU-Linux-x86/particle.bmp"); InitPointSprites(); while(true){drawGLScene();} }

  • execl doesn't work in a while(1) cicle, server side; C script

    - by Possa
    Hi guys, I have a problem with a little C script who should run as a server and launch a popup for every message arriving. The execl syntax is correct because if I try a little script with main() { execl(...); } it works. When I put it in a while(1) cicle it doesn't work. Everything else is working, like printf or string operation, but not the execl. Even if I fork it doesn't work. I really don't know what I can do ... can anyone help me? Thanks in advice for your help and sorry for my bad english. • Making a Wrapper class for ActiveMQ

    - by DarthVader
    I want to make a Wrapper class for ActiveMQ which will have only send and get functions. I want to wrap them in a static class. Users can use this client and send, get messages to the activemq instance. I want this process to be transparent. There are two classes in this link My only handicap is, i need to this in c++ and not sure where to start. I havent used c++ for ages and now not sure how I can create this wrapper class. I m giving it a try as follows: // .h file #include <stdlib.h> #include <iostream> using namespace std; class ActiveMQWrapper { public: static void send(std::string message); static std::string get(); }; // .cpp file #include<string> #include<iostream> #include "ActiveMQWrapper.h" void ActiveMQWrapper::send(std::string message){ std::cout<<message; } std::string ActiveMQWrapper::get(){ return "test"; } // test file #include <string> #include <iostream> #include "ActiveMQWrapper.h" int main() { std::string foo ="test"; ActiveMQWrapper::send(foo); std::cout<<ActiveMQWrapper::get(); return 1; } When I added the following to .h file, hell breaks loose. Do you think I should seperate this impl to a factory and initialize and instance and return to the wrapper above? How do i deal with all the dependencies? private: Connection* connection; Session* session; Destination* destination; MessageProducer* producer; int numMessages; bool useTopic; bool sessionTransacted; std::string brokerURI; and the header files, i get several messages as errors, which complains about the path. How can i get this correct? I eventually want to build a Factory, get an instance and send or get the messages to the queue. is there a code sample i can look into to get this right? essential i want to use the functionality of only this producer and consumer. Edit: I understand there is no such thing as static class in C++ . This is my reference.

Before the PHP Version update I used to be able to include files as following without specifying the document root: <?php include '/absolute/path/to/files/file1.php'; ?> However I now have to include the same file as following: <?php include $_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT'].'/absolute/path/to/files/file1.php'; ?> What php.ini setting could have overridden the former behaviour?

Does anyone know the possible reason? Thank you.

  • socket operation on nonsocket or bad file descriptor

    - by Magn3s1um
    I'm writing a pthread server which takes requests from clients and sends them back a bunch of .ppm files. Everything seems to go well, but sometimes when I have just 1 client connected, when trying to read from the file descriptor (for the file), it says Bad file Descriptor. This doesn't make sense, since my int fd isn't -1, and the file most certainly exists. Other times, I get this "Socket operation on nonsocket" error. This is weird because other times, it doesn't give me this error and everything works fine. When trying to connect multiple clients, for some reason, it will only send correctly to one, and then the other client gets the bad file descriptor or "nonsocket" error, even though both threads are processing the same messages and do the same routines. Anyone have an idea why? Here's the code that is giving me that error: while(mqueue.head != mqueue.tail && count < dis_m){ printf("Sending to client %s: %s\n", pointer->id, pointer->message); int fd; fd = open(pointer->message, O_RDONLY); char buf[58368]; int bytesRead; printf("This is fd %d\n", fd); bytesRead=read(fd,buf,58368); send(pointer->socket,buf,bytesRead,0); perror("Error:\n"); fflush(stdout); close(fd); mqueue.mcount--; mqueue.head = mqueue.head->next; free(pointer->message); free(pointer); pointer = mqueue.head; count++; } printf("Sending %s\n", pointer->message); int fd; fd = open(pointer->message, O_RDONLY); printf("This is fd %d\n", fd); printf("I am hhere2\n"); char buf[58368]; int bytesRead; bytesRead=read(fd,buf,58368); send(pointer->socket,buf,bytesRead,0); perror("Error:\n"); close(fd); mqueue.mcount--; if(mqueue.head != mqueue.tail){ mqueue.head = mqueue.head->next; } else{ mqueue.head->next = malloc(sizeof(struct message)); mqueue.head = mqueue.head->next; mqueue.head->next = malloc(sizeof(struct message)); mqueue.tail = mqueue.head->next; mqueue.head->message = NULL; } free(pointer->message); free(pointer); pthread_mutex_unlock(&numm); pthread_mutex_unlock(&circ); pthread_mutex_unlock(&slots); The messages for both threads are the same, being of the form ./path/imageXX.ppm where XX is the number that should go to the client. The file size of each image is 58368 bytes. Sometimes, this code hangs on the read, and stops execution. I don't know this would be either, because the file descriptor comes back as valid. Thanks in advanced. Edit: Here's some sample output: Sending to client a: ./support/images/sw90.ppm This is fd 4 Error: : Socket operation on non-socket Sending to client a: ./support/images/sw91.ppm This is fd 4 Error: : Socket operation on non-socket Sending ./support/images/sw92.ppm This is fd 4 I am hhere2 Error: : Socket operation on non-socket My dispatcher has defeated evil Sample with 2 clients (client b was serviced first) Sending to client b: ./support/images/sw87.ppm This is fd 6 Error: : Success Sending to client b: ./support/images/sw88.ppm This is fd 6 Error: : Success Sending to client b: ./support/images/sw89.ppm This is fd 6 Error: : Success This is fd 6 Error: : Bad file descriptor Sending to client a: ./support/images/sw85.ppm This is fd 6 Error: As you can see, who ever is serviced first in this instance can open the files, but not the 2nd person. The socket that is opened when a new client connects, must be passed to the threads. To do this, we need some sort of global array. I did this by specifying an int client and main_pool_busy, and two pointers poolsockets and nonpoolsockets. My thinking on this was that when a new client enters the system, the server thread increments the variable client. When a thread is finished with this client (after it sends it the data), the thread will decrement client and close the socket. HTTP servers act this way sometimes (they terminate the socket as soon as one transmission is sent). *Note down at bottom After the server portion increments the client counter, we must open up a new socket (denoted by new_sd) and get this value to the appropriate thread. To do this, I created global array poolsockets, which will hold all the socket descriptors for our pooled threads. The server portion gets the new socket descriptor, and places the value in the first spot of the array that has a 0. We only place a value in this array IF: 1. The variable main_pool_busy < worknum (If we have more clients in the system than in our pool, it doesn't mean we should always create a new thread. At the end of this, the server signals on the condition variable clientin that a new client has arrived. In our pooled thread, we then must walk this array and check the array until we hit our first non-zero value. This is the socket we will give to that thread. The thread then changes the array to have a zero here. What if our all threads in our pool our busy? If this is the case, then we will know it because our threads in this pool will increment main_pool_busy by one when they are working on a request and decrement it when they are done. If main_pool_busy >= worknum, then we must dynamically create a new thread. Then, we must realloc the size of our nonpoolsockets array by 1 int. We then add the new socket descriptor to our pool. Here's what we need to figure out: NOTE* Each worker should generate 100 messages which specify the worker thread ID, client socket descriptor and a copy of the client message. Additionally, each message should include a message number, starting from 0 and incrementing for each subsequent message sent to the same client. I don't know how to keep track of how many messages were to the same client. Maybe we shouldn't close the socket descriptor, but rather keep an array of structs for each socket that includes how many messages they have been sent. Then, the server adds the struct, the threads remove it, then the threads add it back once they've serviced one request (unless the count is 100). ------------------------------------------------------------- CHANGES Version 1 ---------- NONE: this is the first version. */ #define MAXSLOTS 30 #define dis_m 15 //problems with dis_m ==1 //Function prototypes void inc_clients(); void init_mutex_stuff(pthread_t*, pthread_t*); void *threadpool(void *); void server(int); void add_to_socket_pool(int); void inc_busy(); void dec_busy(); void *dispatcher(); void create_message(long, int, int, char *, char *); void init_ring(); void add_to_ring(char *, char *, int, int, int); int socket_from_string(char *); void add_to_head(char *); void add_to_tail(char *); struct message * reorder(struct message *, struct message *, int); int get_threadid(char *); void delete_socket_messages(int); struct message * merge(struct message *, struct message *, int); int get_request(char *, char *, char*); ///////////////////// //Global mutexes and condition variables pthread_mutex_t startservice; pthread_mutex_t numclients; pthread_mutex_t pool_sockets; pthread_mutex_t nonpool_sockets; pthread_mutex_t m_pool_busy; pthread_mutex_t slots; pthread_mutex_t numm; pthread_mutex_t circ; pthread_cond_t clientin; pthread_cond_t m; /////////////////////////////////////// //Global variables int clients; int main_pool_busy; int * poolsockets, nonpoolsockets; int worknum; struct ring mqueue; /////////////////////////////////////// int main(int argc, char ** argv){ //error handling if not enough arguments to program if(argc != 3){ printf("Not enough arguments to server: ./server portnum NumThreadsinPool\n"); _exit(-1); } //Convert arguments from strings to integer values int port = atoi(argv[1]); worknum = atoi(argv[2]); //Start server portion server(port); } /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// //The listen server thread///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// void server(int port){ int sd, new_sd; struct sockaddr_in name, cli_name; int sock_opt_val = 1; int cli_len; pthread_t threads[worknum]; //create our pthread id array pthread_t dis[1]; //create our dispatcher array (necessary to create thread) init_mutex_stuff(threads, dis); //initialize mutexes and stuff //Server setup /////////////////////////////////////////////////////// if ((sd = socket (AF_INET, SOCK_STREAM, 0)) < 0) { perror("(servConn): socket() error"); _exit (-1); } if (setsockopt (sd, SOL_SOCKET, SO_REUSEADDR, (char *) &sock_opt_val, sizeof(sock_opt_val)) < 0) { perror ("(servConn): Failed to set SO_REUSEADDR on INET socket"); _exit (-1); } name.sin_family = AF_INET; name.sin_port = htons (port); name.sin_addr.s_addr = htonl(INADDR_ANY); if (bind (sd, (struct sockaddr *)&name, sizeof(name)) < 0) { perror ("(servConn): bind() error"); _exit (-1); } listen (sd, 5); //End of server Setup ////////////////////////////////////////////////// for (;;) { cli_len = sizeof (cli_name); new_sd = accept (sd, (struct sockaddr *) &cli_name, &cli_len); printf ("Assigning new socket descriptor: %d\n", new_sd); inc_clients(); //New client has come in, increment clients add_to_socket_pool(new_sd); //Add client to the pool of sockets if (new_sd < 0) { perror ("(servConn): accept() error"); _exit (-1); } } pthread_exit(NULL); //Quit } //Adds the new socket to the array designated for pthreads in the pool void add_to_socket_pool(int socket){ pthread_mutex_lock(&m_pool_busy); //Lock so that we can check main_pool_busy int i; //If not all our main pool is busy, then allocate to one of them if(main_pool_busy < worknum){ pthread_mutex_unlock(&m_pool_busy); //unlock busy, we no longer need to hold it pthread_mutex_lock(&pool_sockets); //Lock the socket pool array so that we can edit it without worry for(i = 0; i < worknum; i++){ //Find a poolsocket that is -1; then we should put the real socket there. • Why is syslog so much slower than file IO?

    - by ceving
    I wrote a simple test program to measure the performance of the syslog function. This are the results of my test system: (Debian 6.0.2 with Linux 2.6.32-5-amd64) Test Case Calls Payload Duration Thoughput [] [MB] [s] [MB/s] -------------------- ---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- syslog 200000 10.00 7.81 1.28 syslog %s 200000 10.00 9.94 1.01 write /dev/null 200000 10.00 0.03 343.93 printf %s 200000 10.00 0.13 76.29 The test program did 200000 system calls writing 50 Bytes of data during each call. Why is Syslog more than ten times slower than file IO? This is the program I used to perform the test: #include <fcntl.h> #include <stdio.h> #include <string.h> #include <sys/stat.h> #include <sys/time.h> #include <sys/types.h> #include <syslog.h> #include <unistd.h> const int iter = 200000; const char msg[] = "123456789 123456789 123456789 123456789 123456789"; struct timeval t0; struct timeval t1; void start () { gettimeofday (&t0, (void*)0); } void stop () { gettimeofday (&t1, (void*)0); } void report (char *action) { double dt = (double)t1.tv_sec - (double)t0.tv_sec + 1e-6 * ((double)t1.tv_usec - (double)t0.tv_usec); double mb = 1e-6 * sizeof (msg) * iter; if (action == NULL) printf ("Test Case Calls Payload Duration Thoughput \n" " [] [MB] [s] [MB/s] \n" "-------------------- ---------- ---------- ---------- ----------\n"); else { if (strlen (action) > 20) action[20] = 0; printf ("%-20s %-10d %-10.2f %-10.2f %-10.2f\n", action, iter, mb, dt, mb / dt); } } void test_syslog () { int i; openlog ("test_syslog", LOG_PID | LOG_NDELAY, LOG_LOCAL0); start (); for (i = 0; i < iter; i++) syslog (LOG_DEBUG, msg); stop (); closelog (); report ("syslog"); } void test_syslog_format () { int i; openlog ("test_syslog", LOG_PID | LOG_NDELAY, LOG_LOCAL0); start (); for (i = 0; i < iter; i++) syslog (LOG_DEBUG, "%s", msg); stop (); closelog (); report ("syslog %s"); } void test_write_devnull () { int i, fd; fd = open ("/dev/null", O_WRONLY); start (); for (i = 0; i < iter; i++) write (fd, msg, sizeof(msg)); stop (); close (fd); report ("write /dev/null"); } void test_printf () { int i; FILE *fp; fp = fopen ("/tmp/test_printf", "w"); start (); for (i = 0; i < iter; i++) fprintf (fp, "%s", msg); stop (); fclose (fp); report ("printf %s"); } int main (int argc, char **argv) { report (NULL); test_syslog (); test_syslog_format (); test_write_devnull (); test_printf (); }

  • How to use Boost 1.41.0 graph layout algorithmes

    - by daniil-k
    Hi I have problem using boost graph layout algorithmes. boost verision 1_41_0 mingw g++ 4.4.0. So there are issues I have encountered Can you suggest me with them? The function fruchterman_reingold_force_directed_layout isn't compiled. The kamada_kawai_spring_layout compiled but program crashed. Boost documentation to layout algorithms is wrong, sample to fruchterman_reingold_force_directed_layout isn't compiled. This is my example. To use function just uncomment one. String 60, 61, 63. #include <boost/config.hpp> #include <boost/graph/adjacency_list.hpp> #include <boost/graph/graph_utility.hpp> #include <boost/graph/simple_point.hpp> #include <boost/property_map/property_map.hpp> #include <boost/graph/circle_layout.hpp> #include <boost/graph/fruchterman_reingold.hpp> #include <boost/graph/kamada_kawai_spring_layout.hpp> #include <iostream> //typedef boost::square_topology<>::point_difference_type Point; typedef boost::square_topology<>::point_type Point; struct VertexProperties { std::size_t index; Point point; }; struct EdgeProperty { EdgeProperty(const std::size_t &w):weight(w) {} double weight; }; typedef boost::adjacency_list<boost::listS, boost::listS, boost::undirectedS, VertexProperties, EdgeProperty > Graph; typedef boost::property_map<Graph, std::size_t VertexProperties::*>::type VertexIndexPropertyMap; typedef boost::property_map<Graph, Point VertexProperties::*>::type PositionMap; typedef boost::property_map<Graph, double EdgeProperty::*>::type WeightPropertyMap; typedef boost::graph_traits<Graph>::vertex_descriptor VirtexDescriptor; int main() { Graph graph; VertexIndexPropertyMap vertexIdPropertyMap = boost::get(&VertexProperties::index, graph); for (int i = 0; i < 3; ++i) { VirtexDescriptor vd = boost::add_vertex(graph); vertexIdPropertyMap[vd] = i + 2; } boost::add_edge(boost::vertex(1, graph), boost::vertex(0, graph), EdgeProperty(5), graph); boost::add_edge(boost::vertex(2, graph), boost::vertex(0, graph), EdgeProperty(5), graph); std::cout << "Vertices\n"; boost::print_vertices(graph, vertexIdPropertyMap); std::cout << "Edges\n"; boost::print_edges(graph, vertexIdPropertyMap); PositionMap positionMap = boost::get(&VertexProperties::point, graph); WeightPropertyMap weightPropertyMap = boost::get(&EdgeProperty::weight, graph); boost::circle_graph_layout(graph, positionMap, 100); // boost::fruchterman_reingold_force_directed_layout(graph, positionMap, boost::square_topology<>()); boost::kamada_kawai_spring_layout(graph, positionMap, weightPropertyMap, boost::square_topology<>(), boost::side_length<double>(10), boost::layout_tolerance<>(), 1, vertexIdPropertyMap); std::cout << "Coordinates\n"; boost::graph_traits<Graph>::vertex_iterator i, end; for (boost::tie(i, end) = boost::vertices(graph); i != end; ++i) { std::cout << "ID: (" << vertexIdPropertyMap[*i] << ") x: " << positionMap[*i][0] << " y: " << positionMap[*i][1] << "\n"; } return 0; }

  • how to solve unhandled exception error when using visual C++ 2008?

    - by make
    Hi, Could someone please help me to solve unhandled exception error when using visual C++ 2008? the error is displayed as follow: Unhandled exception at 0x00411690 in time.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x00000008 Actually when I used visual c++ 6 in the past, there weren't any error and the program was running fine. But now ehen I use visual 2008, I am getting this Unhandled exception error. Here is the program: #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <time.h> #ifdef _WIN32 // #include <winsock.h> #include <windows.h> #include "stdint.h" // typedef __int64 int64_t // Define it from MSVC's internal type // typedef unsigned __int32 uint32_t #else #include <stdint.h> // Use the C99 official header #include <sys/time.h> #include <unistd.h> #endif #if defined(_MSC_VER) || defined(_MSC_EXTENSIONS) #define DELTA_EPOCH_IN_MICROSECS 11644473600000000Ui64 #else #define DELTA_EPOCH_IN_MICROSECS 11644473600000000ULL #endif struct timezone { int tz_minuteswest; /* minutes W of Greenwich */ int tz_dsttime; /* type of dst correction */ }; #define TEST #ifdef TEST uint32_t stampstart(); uint32_t stampstop(uint32_t start); int main() { uint32_t start, stop; start = stampstart(); /* Your code goes here */ stop = stampstop(start); return 0; } #endif int gettimeofday(struct timeval *tv, struct timezone *tz) { FILETIME ft; unsigned __int64 tmpres = 0; static int tzflag = 0; if (NULL != tv) { GetSystemTimeAsFileTime(&ft); tmpres |= ft.dwHighDateTime; tmpres <<= 32; tmpres |= ft.dwLowDateTime; tmpres /= 10; /*convert into microseconds*/ /*converting file time to unix epoch*/ tmpres -= DELTA_EPOCH_IN_MICROSECS; tv->tv_sec = (long)(tmpres / 1000000UL); tv->tv_usec = (long)(tmpres % 1000000UL); } if (NULL != tz) { if (!tzflag) { _tzset(); tzflag++; } tz->tz_minuteswest = _timezone / 60; tz->tz_dsttime = _daylight; } return 0; } uint32_t stampstart() { struct timeval tv; struct timezone tz; struct tm *tm; uint32_t start; gettimeofday(&tv, &tz); tm = localtime(&tv.tv_sec); printf("TIMESTAMP-START\t %d:%02d:%02d:%d (~%d ms)\n", tm->tm_hour, tm->tm_min, tm->tm_sec, tv.tv_usec, tm->tm_hour * 3600 * 1000 + tm->tm_min * 60 * 1000 + tm->tm_sec * 1000 + tv.tv_usec / 1000); start = tm->tm_hour * 3600 * 1000 + tm->tm_min * 60 * 1000 + tm->tm_sec * 1000 + tv.tv_usec / 1000; return (start); } uint32_t stampstop(uint32_t start) { struct timeval tv; struct timezone tz; struct tm *tm; uint32_t stop; gettimeofday(&tv, &tz); tm = localtime(&tv.tv_sec); stop = tm->tm_hour * 3600 * 1000 + tm->tm_min * 60 * 1000 + tm->tm_sec * 1000 + tv.tv_usec / 1000; printf("TIMESTAMP-END\t %d:%02d:%02d:%d (~%d ms) \n", tm->tm_hour, tm->tm_min, tm->tm_sec, tv.tv_usec, tm->tm_hour * 3600 * 1000 + tm->tm_min * 60 * 1000 + tm->tm_sec * 1000 + tv.tv_usec / 1000); printf("ELAPSED\t %d ms\n", stop - start); return (stop); } thanks for your replies:

  • Strange thing on IPv6 multicast program on Windows

    - by zhanglistar
    I have written an ipv6 multicast program on windows xp sp3. But a problem bothers me a lot. The sendto function implies no error, but I can't capture the packet using wireshark. I am sure the filter is right. Thanks in advance. And the code is as follows: #include "stdafx.h" #include <stdio.h> /* for printf() and fprintf() */ #include <winsock2.h> /* for socket(), connect(), sendto(), and recvfrom() */ #include <ws2tcpip.h> /* for ip_mreq */ #include <stdlib.h> /* for atoi() and exit() */ #include <string.h> /* for memset() */ #include <time.h> /* for timestamps */ #include <pcap.h> #include <Iphlpapi.h> #pragma comment(lib, "Ws2_32.lib") #pragma comment(lib, "wpcap.lib") #pragma comment(lib, "Iphlpapi.lib") int _tmain(int argc, _TCHAR* argv[]) { int sfd; int on, length, iResult; WSADATA wsaData; struct addrinfo Hints; struct addrinfo *multicastAddr, *localAddr; char buf[46]; // Initialize Winsock iResult = WSAStartup(MAKEWORD(2, 2), &wsaData); if (iResult != 0) { printf("WSAStartup failed: %d\n", iResult); return 1; } /* Resolve destination address for multicast datagrams */ memset(&Hints, 0, sizeof (Hints)); Hints.ai_family = AF_INET6; Hints.ai_socktype = SOCK_DGRAM; Hints.ai_protocol = IPPROTO_UDP; Hints.ai_flags = AI_NUMERICHOST; iResult = getaddrinfo("FF02::1:2", "547", &Hints, &multicastAddr); if (iResult != 0) { /* error handling */ printf("socket error: %d\n", WSAGetLastError()); return -1; } /* Get a local address with the same family (IPv4 or IPv6) as our multicast group */ Hints.ai_family = multicastAddr->ai_family; Hints.ai_socktype = SOCK_DGRAM; Hints.ai_flags = AI_PASSIVE; /* Return an address we can bind to */ if ( getaddrinfo(NULL, "546", &Hints, &localAddr) != 0 ) { printf("getaddrinfo() failed: %d\n", WSAGetLastError()); exit(-1); } // Create sending socket //sfd = socket (multicastAddr->ai_family, multicastAddr->ai_socktype, multicastAddr->ai_protocol); sfd = socket(AF_INET6, SOCK_DGRAM, IPPROTO_UDP); if (sfd == -1) { printf("socket error: %d\n", WSAGetLastError()); return 0; } /* Bind to the multicast port */ if ( bind(sfd, localAddr->ai_addr, localAddr->ai_addrlen) != 0 ) { printf("bind() failed: %d\n", WSAGetLastError()); exit(-1); } if (multicastAddr->ai_family == AF_INET6 && multicastAddr->ai_addrlen == sizeof(struct sockaddr_in6)) /* IPv6 */ { on = 1; if (setsockopt (sfd, IPPROTO_IPV6, IPV6_MULTICAST_IF, (char *)&on, sizeof (on) /*(char *)&interface_addr, sizeof(interface_addr)*/) == -1) { printf("setsockopt error:%d\n", WSAGetLastError()); return -1; } if (setsockopt (sfd, IPPROTO_IPV6, IPV6_MULTICAST_LOOP, (char *)&on, sizeof (on) /*(char *)&interface_addr, sizeof(interface_addr)*/) == -1) { printf("setsockopt error:%d\n", WSAGetLastError()); return -1; } struct ipv6_mreq multicastRequest; /* Multicast address join structure */ /* Specify the multicast group */ memcpy(&multicastRequest.ipv6mr_multiaddr, &((struct sockaddr_in6*)(multicastAddr->ai_addr))->sin6_addr, sizeof(struct in6_addr)); /* Accept multicast from any interface */ multicastRequest.ipv6mr_interface = 0; /* Join the multicast address */ if ( setsockopt(sfd, IPPROTO_IPV6, IPV6_JOIN_GROUP, (char*) &multicastRequest, sizeof(multicastRequest)) != 0 ) { printf("setsockopt() failed: %d\n", WSAGetLastError()); return -1; } on = 1; if (setsockopt (sfd, IPPROTO_IPV6, IPV6_MULTICAST_IF, (char *)&on, sizeof (on)) == -1) { printf("setsockopt error:%d\n", WSAGetLastError()); return 0; } } memset(buf, 0, sizeof(buf)); strcpy(buf, "hello world"); iResult = sendto(sfd, buf, strlen(buf), 0, (LPSOCKADDR) multicastAddr->ai_addr, multicastAddr->ai_addrlen); if (iResult == SOCKET_ERROR) { printf("setsockopt error:%d\n", WSAGetLastError()); return -1; /* Error handling */ } return 0; }
