  • Xlib mouse events and ButtonPressMask

    - by Trilly Campanelino
    I have written a simple program which will report key press and release events for a particular window. In my case, it is mostly the terminal since I invoke the program from the terminal. I am able to get the key press and release events taking place in the terminal window (I have used XSelectInput() with KeyPressMask and KeyReleaseMask on the terminal) but the same is not working with ButtonPress and ButtonRelease. Not just these, but any events related to the mouse are not being reported. Any idea why this is happening? #include #include #include #include #include #include int main() { Display *display = XOpenDisplay(NULL); KeySym k; int revert_to; Window window; XEvent event; XGetInputFocus(display, &window, &revert_to); XSelectInput(display, window, KeyPressMask | KeyReleaseMask | ButtonPressMask | ButtonReleaseMask); while(1) { XNextEvent(display,&event); switch (event.type) { case KeyPress : printf("Key Pressed\n"); break; case KeyRelease : printf("Key Released\n"); break; case ButtonPress : printf("Button Pressed\n"); break; case ButtonRelease : printf("Button Released\n"); break; case EnterNotify : printf("Enter\n"); break; } } XCloseDisplay(display); return 0; }

  • Listing directories in Linux from C

    - by nunos
    I am trying to simulate linux command ls using linux api from c. Looking at the code it does make sense, but when I run it I get "stat error: No such file or directory". I have checked that opendir is working ok. I think the problem is in stat, which is returning -1 even though I think it should return 0. What am I missing? Thanks for your help. #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <string.h> #include <dirent.h> #include <sys/stat.h> #include <errno.h> int main(int argc, char *argv[]) { DIR *dirp; struct dirent *direntp; struct stat stat_buf; char *str; if (argc != 2) { fprintf( stderr, "Usage: %s dir_name\n", argv[0]); exit(1); } if ((dirp = opendir( argv[1])) == NULL) { perror(argv[1]); exit(2); } while ((direntp = readdir( dirp)) != NULL) { if (stat(direntp->d_name, &stat_buf)==-1) { perror("stat ERROR"); exit(3); } if (S_ISREG(stat_buf.st_mode)) str = "regular"; else if (S_ISDIR(stat_buf.st_mode)) str = "directory"; else str = "other"; printf("%-25s - %s\n", direntp->d_name, str); } closedir(dirp); exit(0); }

  • error: expected constructor, destructor, or type conversion before '(' token

    - by jonathanasdf
    include/TestBullet.h:12: error: expected constructor, destructor, or type conver sion before '(' token I hate C++ error messages... lol ^^ Basically, I'm following what was written in this post to try to create a factory class for bullets so they can be instantiated from a string, which will be parsed from an xml file, because I don't want to have a function with a switch for all of the classes because that looks ugly. Here is my TestBullet.h: #pragma once #include "Bullet.h" #include "BulletFactory.h" class TestBullet : public Bullet { public: void init(BulletData& bulletData); void update(); }; REGISTER_BULLET(TestBullet); <-- line 12 And my BulletFactory.h: #pragma once #include <string> #include <map> #include "Bullet.h" #define REGISTER_BULLET(NAME) BulletFactory::reg<NAME>(#NAME) #define REGISTER_BULLET_ALT(NAME, CLASS) BulletFactory::reg<CLASS>(NAME) template<typename T> Bullet * create() { return new T; } struct BulletFactory { typedef std::map<std::string, Bullet*(*)()> bulletMapType; static bulletMapType map; static Bullet * createInstance(char* s) { std::string str(s); bulletMapType::iterator it = map.find(str); if(it == map.end()) return 0; return it->second(); } template<typename T> static void reg(std::string& s) { map.insert(std::make_pair(s, &create<T>)); } }; Thanks in advance.

  • slot function not getting called

    - by chappar
    I am learning QT and trying out some examples. I am trying to make a dialog that disappears a label when a button is pressed and makes it appear when the same button is pressed again. Below is the code. #include <QApplication> #include <QPushButton> #include <QLabel> #include <QDialog> #include <QObject> #include <QHBoxLayout> int main(int argc, char ** argv) { QApplication app(argc, argv); QDialog *dialog = new QDialog; QPushButton *testButton = new QPushButton(QObject::tr("test")); QLabel * testLabel = new QLabel (QObject::tr("test")); QHBoxLayout * layout = new QHBoxLayout; layout->addWidget(testButton); layout->addWidget(testLabel); QObject::connect(testButton, SIGNAL(toggled(bool)), testLabel, SLOT(setVisible(bool))); dialog->setLayout(layout); dialog->show(); return app.exec(); } It is not working. Whenever i press the test button nothing happens. But if i change the signal slot connections as QObject::connect(testButton, SIGNAL(clicked(bool)), testLabel, SLOT(setVisible(bool))); it makes the label disappear. So, why it is not working with signal "toggled". What i am guessing is, it is not able to find that signal. Can you guys throw some light?

  • Class Plugins in PHP?

    - by YuriKolovsky
    i just got some more questions while learning PHP, does php implement any built in plugin system? so the plugin would be able to change the behavior of the core component. for example something like this works: include 'core.class.php'; include 'plugin1.class.php'; include 'plugin2.class.php'; new plugin2; where core.class.php contains class core { public function coremethod1(){ echo 'coremethod1'; } public function coremethod2(){ echo 'coremethod2'; } } plugin1.class.php contains class plugin1 extends core { public function coremethod1(){ echo 'plugin1method1'; } } plugin2.class.php contains class plugin2 extends plugin1 { public function coremethod2(){ echo 'plugin2method2'; } } This would be ideal, if not for the problem that now the plugins are dependable on each other, and removing one of the plugins: include 'core.class.php'; //include 'plugin1.class.php'; include 'plugin2.class.php'; new plugin2; breaks the whole thing... are there any proper methods to doing this? if there are not, them i might consider moving to a different langauge that supports this... thanks for any help.

  • Django - The included urlconf doesn't have any patterns in it

    My website, which was working before, suddenly started breaking with the error "ImproperlyConfigured at / The included urlconf resume.urls doesn't have any patterns in it" The project base is called resume. • XHTML Validation issue trying to render '&' character inside an ASP.Net control

It needs to render the html like this: All Leads <i>(include Archive &amp; Trash)</i> How can I fix this? Thanks.

  • Inner join and outer join options in Entity Framework 4.0

    - by bigb
    I am using EF 4.0 and I need to implement query with one inner join and with N outer joins I started to implement this using different approaches but get into trouble at some point. Here is two examples how I started of doing this using ObjectQuery<'T' and Linq to Entity 1)Using ObjectQuery<'T' I implement flexible outer join but I don't know how to perform inner join with entity Rules in that case (by default Include("Rules") doing outer join, but i need to inner join by Id). public static IEnumerable<Race> GetRace(List<string> includes, DateTime date) { IRepository repository = new Repository(new BEntities()); ObjectQuery<Race> result = (ObjectQuery<Race>)repository.AsQueryable<Race>(); //perform outer joins with related entities if (includes != null) foreach (string include in includes) result = result.Include(include); //here i need inner join insteard of default outer join result = result.Include("Rules"); return result.ToList(); } 2)Using Linq To Entity I need to have kind of outer join(somethin like in GetRace()) where i may pass a List with entities to include) and also i need to perform correct inner join with entity Rules public static IEnumerable<Race> GetRace2(List<string> includes, DateTime date) { IRepository repository = new Repository(new BEntities()); IEnumerable<Race> result = from o in repository.AsQueryable<Race>() from b in o.RaceBetRules select new { o }); //I need here: // 1. to perform the same way inner joins with related entities like with ObjectQuery above //here i getting List<AnonymousType> which i cant cast to //IEnumerable<Race> when i did try to cast like //(IEnumerable<Race>)result.ToList(); i did get error: //Unable to cast object of type //'System.Collections.Generic.List`1[<>f__AnonymousType0`1[BetsTipster.Entity.Tip.Types.Race]]' //to type //'System.Collections.Generic.IEnumerable`1[BetsTipster.Entity.Tip.Types.Race]'. return result.ToList(); } May be someone have some ideas about that.

  • Static library not included in resulting LLVM executable

    - by Matthew Glubb
    Hi, I am trying to compile a c program using LLVM and I am having trouble getting some static libraries included. I have successfully compiled those static libraries using LLVM and, for example, libogg.a is present, as is ogg.l.bc. However, when I try to build the final program, it does not include the static ogg library. I've tried various compiler options with the most notable being: gcc oggvorbis.c -O3 -Wall -I$OV_DIR/include -l$OV_DIR/lib/libogg.a -l$OV_DIR/lib/libvorbis.a -o test.exe This results in the following output (directories shortened for brevity): $OV_DIR/include/vorbis/vorbisfile.h:75: warning: ‘OV_CALLBACKS_DEFAULT’ defined but not used $OV_DIR/include/vorbis/vorbisfile.h:82: warning: ‘OV_CALLBACKS_NOCLOSE’ defined but not used $OV_DIR/include/vorbis/vorbisfile.h:89: warning: ‘OV_CALLBACKS_STREAMONLY’ defined but not used $OV_DIR/include/vorbis/vorbisfile.h:96: warning: ‘OV_CALLBACKS_STREAMONLY_NOCLOSE’ defined but not used llvm-ld: warning: Cannot find library '$OV_DIR/lib/ogg.l.bc' llvm-ld: warning: Cannot find library '$OV_DIR/lib/vorbis.l.bc' WARNING: While resolving call to function 'main' arguments were dropped! I find this perplexing because $OV_DIR/lib/ogg.l.bc DOES exit, as does vorbis.l.bc and they are both readable (as are their containing directories) by everyone. Does anyone have any idea with what I am doing wrong? Thanks, Matt

I did have it as fstream.h But VC++ was not recognizing it so I was told to remove the h and I did. now I am down to this error. and I have no clue what it could be. Possibly something obvious

  • Does waitpid yield valid status information for a child process that has already exited?

    - by dtrebbien
    If I fork a child process, and the child process exits before the parent even calls waitpid, then is the exit status information that is set by waitpid still valid? If so, when does it become not valid; i.e., how do I ensure that I can call waitpid on the child pid and continue to get valid exit status information after an arbitrary amount of time, and how do I "clean up" (tell the OS that I am no longer interested in the exit status information for the finished child process)? I was playing around with the following code, and it appears that the exit status information is valid for at least a few seconds after the child finishes, but I do not know for how long or how to inform the OS that I won't be calling waitpid again: #include <assert.h> #include <pthread.h> #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <unistd.h> #include <sys/wait.h> int main() { pid_t pid = fork(); if (pid < 0) { fprintf(stderr, "Failed to fork\n"); return EXIT_FAILURE; } else if (pid == 0) { // code for child process _exit(17); } else { // code for parent sleep(3); int status; waitpid(pid, &status, 0); waitpid(pid, &status, 0); // call `waitpid` again just to see if the first call had an effect assert(WIFEXITED(status)); assert(WEXITSTATUS(status) == 17); } return EXIT_SUCCESS; }

  • better understanding of getline() and cin

    Trying to get some basic understanding of console functionalities. I am having issues so consider the following... #include "stdafx.h" #include<iostream> #include<conio.h> using namespace std; /* This is a template Project */ void MultiplicationTable(int x); int main() { int value = 0; printf("Please enter any number \n\n"); getline(cin, value); MultiplicationTable(value); getchar(); return 0; } I actually based this off code from http://www.cplusplus.com/doc/tutorial/basic_io/ . My IDE is not recognizing getline() so of course when I compile the application. I get an error 'getline': identifier not found Now take a look at this code #include "stdafx.h" #include<iostream> #include<conio.h> using namespace std; /* This is a template Project */ void MultiplicationTable(int x); int main() { int value = 0; printf("Please enter any number \n\n"); cin>>value; MultiplicationTable(value); getchar(); return 0; } When I execute this line of code the console window opens and immediately closes. I think I a missing something about cin. I do know that it delimits spaces but I don't know what else. what should I use for input to make my life easier.

  • Why doesn't ${locale} resolve in my <compc> Ant task?

    - by user165462
    I've seen a number of examples, e.g. here, where people are including locale resource bundles by referencing the locale attribute in the element. For some reason this doesn't work for me. Here's what I have for the task: <compc output="${deploy.dir}/myfrmwrk.swc" locale="en_US"> <source-path path-element="${basedir}/src/main/flex"/> <include-sources dir="${basedir}/src/main/flex" includes="*" /> <include-libraries file="${basedir}/libs"/> <compiler.external-library-path dir="${FLEX_HOME}/frameworks/libs/player/9" append="true"> <include name="playerglobal.swc"/> </compiler.external-library-path> <compiler.library-path dir="${FLEX_HOME}/frameworks" append="true"> <include name="libs"/> <include name="locale/${locale}"/> </compiler.library-path> <load-config filename="${basedir}/fb3config.xml" /> </compc> This fails with a bunch of errors of the form: [compc] Error: could not find source for resource bundle ... I can make it build with this one change: <include name="locale/en_US"/> The configuration file generated by Flex Builder 3 actually renders this as "locale/{locale}" (notice the $ is missing). I've tried that as well with the same (failing) results. For now, I'm doing OK directly injecting en_US as we won't be doing localization bundles for quite some time, but I will eventually need to get this working. Also, it bugs me that I can't make it work the way that it SHOULD work!

  • Why does the output look like this?

    - by cjk
    I have a c program below, I would like to send out a 32 bit message in a particular order Eg.0x00000001. #include <unistd.h> #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <string.h> #include <sys/types.h> #include <stdint.h> struct test { uint16_t a; uint16_t b; }; int main(int argc, char const *argv[]) { char buf[4]; struct test* ptr=(struct test*)buf; ptr->a=0x0000; ptr->b=0x0001; printf("%x %x\n",buf[0],buf[1]); //output is 0 0 printf("%x %x\n",buf[2],buf[3]); //output is 1 0 return 0; } Then I test it by print out the values in char array. I got output in the above comments. Shouldn't the output be 0 0 and 0 1? since but[3] is the last byte? Is there anything I missed? Thanks!

  • Process is killed without a (obvious) reason and program stops working

    - by Krzysiek Gurniak
    Here's what my program is supposed to do: create 4 child processes: process 0 is reading 1 byte at a time from STDIN, then writing it into FIFO process 1 is reading this 1 byte from fifo and write its value as HEX into shared memory process 2 is reading HEX value from shared memory and writing it into pipe finally process 3 is reading from pipe and writing into STDOUT (in my case: terminal) I can't change communication channels. FIFO, then shared memory, then pipes are the only option. My problem: Program stops at random moments when some file is directed into stdin (for example:./program < /dev/urandom). Sometimes after writing 5 HEX values, sometimes after 100. Weird thing is that when it is working and in another terminal I write "pstree -c" there is 1 main process with 4 children processes (which is what I want), but when I write "pstree -c" after it stopped writing (but still runs) there are only 3 child processes. For some reason 1 is gone even though they all have while(1) in them.. I think I might have problem with synchronization here, but I am unable to spot it (I've tried for many hours). Here's the code: #include <unistd.h> #include <fcntl.h> #include <stdio.h> #include <string.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <sys/shm.h> #include <sys/sem.h> #include <sys/types.h> #include <sys/wait.h> #include <sys/stat.h> #include <string.h> #include <signal.h> #define BUFSIZE 1 #define R 0 #define W 1 // processes ID pid_t p0, p1, p2, p3; • Segmentation Fault

    - by Biranchi
    Hi All, I have the following piece of code for getting the hostname and IP address, #include <stdlib.h> #include <stdio.h> #include <netdb.h> /* This is the header file needed for gethostbyname() */ #include <sys/types.h> #include <sys/socket.h> #include <netinet/in.h> int main(int argc, char *argv[]) { struct hostent *he; if (argc!=2){ printf("Usage: %s <hostname>\n",argv[0]); exit(-1); } if ((he=gethostbyname(argv[1]))==NULL){ printf("gethostbyname() error\n"); exit(-1); } printf("Hostname : %s\n",he->h_name); /* prints the hostname */ printf("IP Address: %s\n",inet_ntoa(*((struct in_addr *)he->h_addr))); /* prints IP address */ } but i am getting a warning and segmentation fault as host.c: In function ‘main’: host.c:24: warning: format ‘%s’ expects type ‘char *’, but argument 2 has type ‘int’ What is the error in the code ?? Thanks

  • C++ reference variables

    I have these two functions (with Point2D & LineVector (has 2 Point2D member variables) classes and SQUARE macro predefined) inline float distance(const Point2D &p1,const Point2D &p2) { return sqrt(SQUARE(p2.getX()-p1.getX())+SQUARE(p2.getY()-p1.getY())); } inline float maxDistance(const LineVector &lv1,const LineVector &lv2) { return max(distance(lv1.p1,lv2.p2),distance(lv1.p2,lv2.p1)); } but it gives compilation error in maxDistance() function (line 238) saying: /usr/lib/gcc/i686-pc-cygwin/3.4.4/include/c++/bits/stl_iterator_base_types.h: In instantiation of `std::iterator_traits<Point2D>': quadrilateral.cpp:238: instantiated from here /usr/lib/gcc/i686-pc-cygwin/3.4.4/include/c++/bits/stl_iterator_base_types.h:129: error: no type named `iterator_category' in `class Point2D' /usr/lib/gcc/i686-pc-cygwin/3.4.4/include/c++/bits/stl_iterator_base_types.h:130: error: no type named `value_type' in `class Point2D ' /usr/lib/gcc/i686-pc-cygwin/3.4.4/include/c++/bits/stl_iterator_base_types.h:131: error: no type named `difference_type' in `class Point2D' /usr/lib/gcc/i686-pc-cygwin/3.4.4/include/c++/bits/stl_iterator_base_types.h:132: error: no type named `pointer' in `class Point2D' /usr/lib/gcc/i686-pc-cygwin/3.4.4/include/c++/bits/stl_iterator_base_types.h:133: error: no type named `reference' in `class Point2D' Please suggest what is the error?

  • c++ code cons/pros

    - by VirusEcks
    below i have a code that runs in most of my simple programs .. . i want to know if it's good/bad ... and cons/pros . . win32 header file: win32.h #include <windows.h> #include <process.h> #include <stdarg.h> main header file: inc.h #include "win32.h" #ifndef INCS #define INCS #define DD #else #define DD extern #endif #ifndef VARS #define titlen L"my program" #endif DD wchar_t gtitle[512]; DD wchar_t gclass[512]; DD wchar_t gdir[32767]; #include "resources.h" #include "commonfunctions.h" then all files have something like this commonfunctions.h DD inline bool icmp( const char *String1, const char *String2 ) { if ( _stricmp( String1, String2 ) == 0 ) { return true; } return false; } DD inline bool scmp( const char *String1, const char *String2 ) { if ( strcmp( String1, String2 ) == 0 ) { return true; } return false; } all global variables have DD infront of them and all functions have DD too . is there a bad side of this ? . i came up with this idea and it wasn't problematic at all in small programs . but before i apply it in a large project will it be problematic ?. thanks in advance.
