  • Using WCF DLL with VB6 ?

    I have a VB6 application that needs to communicate with a VS2008 VB.NET WCF server. I have built a VB.NET WCF DLL to be used on the client side, and it --almost-- works with the VB6 application. When I try to run the VB6 app in debug mode, I get "Could not find endpoint element with name 'NetTCPBinding_IComPortManager' and contract 'IComPortManager' in the ServiceModel client configuration section." Using a dummy VB.Net client app, with the same WCF DLL works fine. I presume that the VB6 app/WCF DLL is not finding app.config. Where should app.config be ? Is there a way to tell WCF where to find app.config ?

  • onServiceConnected never called after bindService method

    Hi, I have a particular situation: a service started by a broadcast receiver starts an activity. I want to make it possible for this activity to communicate back to the service. I have chosen to use AIDL to make it possible. Everything seems works good except for bindService() method called in onCreate() of the activity. bindService(), in fact, throws a null pointer exception because onServiceConnected() is never called while onBind() method of the service is. Anyway bindService() returns true. The service is obviously active because it starts the activity. I know that calling an activity from a service could sound strange, but unfortunately this is the only way to have speech recognition in a service. Thanks in advance

  • Question on MVVM pattern on WPF ?

    I have a user control let say UC1 . This user control have viewmodel UC1_vm. In the usercontrol UC1 I have a canvas in which drawing curve logic is implemented. This drawing curve logic is based on the data points property in the view model ( UC1_vm). The data points property inside the view model change with different condition. The generation of data points is written in the View Model. I want to bind the data points property in the view model to the draw curve logic inside the User control (view). I want whenever the data point property is changed in the view model , the canvas calls the draw curve method. Can I set the set any property of canvas which when changed it calls the on paint logic auto matically? Please suggest me the approach of implementing this scenario!!

    I have a need to add custom HTML attributes, specifically classes or styles to option tags in the selects generated by Html.DropDownFor(). I've been playing with it, and for the life of me I can't figure out what I need to do to get what I need working.     Hello all, I have the following sql table which contains menu (website menu) data. Table Name: MenuItems Columns: Id, MenuId, ParentMenuItemId, Text. My goal is to bind a DDL according to the following hierarchy (example): Id: 1, MenuId: 1, ParentMenuItemId: -1, Text: 'One' Id: 2, MenuId: 1, ParentMenuItemId: 1, Text: 'Two' Id: 3, MenuId: 1, ParentMenuItemId: 1, Text: 'Three' Id: 4, MenuId: 1, ParentMenuItemId: 2, Text: 'Four' Id: 5, MenuId: 1, ParentMenuItemId: 4, Text: 'Five' Requested result in DDL: One -- Two ---- Four ------ Five -- Three I think it should contain 'WITH' SQL command.   • WPF DataGrid : CanContentScroll property causing odd behavior

    i have a solution where i generate a DataGrid (or multiple instances) based on user criteria.. each grid keeps receiving data as it comes in via ObservableCollection the problem i had, was that the scroll acted weird. It was choppy, and scrollbar would resize it self while scrolling. than i found.. CanContentScroll property! It completely fixes the weird scrolling behavior bringing me temporary bliss and happiness. however, it causes 2 unfortunate side effects. whenever i re-create grid instances and bind them to my observable collection, it freezes my entire window for 5 seconds. when my grid grows to a big size, this delay can last for 30 seconds. when i call TradeGrid.ScrollIntoView(TradeGrid.Items(TradeGrid.Items.Count - 1)) to scroll to the bottom, it jumps to bottom and than back to the top. is there another way to achieve smooth scrolling perhaps?

    OK, so I have this control with two properties. One of these is a DependencyProperty, the other is an "alias" to the first one. What I need to be able to do is raise the PropertyChanged event for the second one (the alias) when the first one is changed.     I have product class class Products { public int ProductID { get; set; } public int Quantity { get; set; } public string Description { get; set; } public decimal Price { get; set; } public decimal SubTotal { get; set; } } public List<Products> ProductsList = new List<Products>(); I have binded this "ProductList" to wpf datagrid. This datagrid shows item already in collection (before DataGrid.DataContext applied) but not showing new item added. I am using List< instead of ObservableCollection< because I want to update items if user changes quantity. I don't know how to do that using ObservableCollection<. Some code will help thanks

I've created a blank C++ metro app and I've just added a model that I will bind to in my UI however I'm getting a range of compiler warnings related to xamltypeinfo.g.cpp and I'm not sure what I've missed.   • WPF - Dynamic tooltip

    I have a class ToolTipProvider which has a method string GetToolTip(UIElement element) which will return a specific tooltip for the UIElement specified, based on various factors including properties of the UIElement itself and also looking up into documentation which can be changed dynamically. It will also probably run in a thread so when the form first fires up the tooltips will be something like the visual studio 'Document cache is still being constructed', then populated in the background. I want to allow this to be used in any wpf form with the minimum effort for the developer. Essentially I want to insert an ObjectDataProvider resource into the Window.Resources to wrap my ToolTipProvider object, then I think I need to create a tooltip (called e.g. MyToolTipProvider) in the resources which references that ObjectDataProvider, then on any element which requires this tooltip functionality it would just be a case of ToolTip="{StaticResource MyToolTipProvider}" however I can't work out a) how to bind the actual elemnt itself to the MethodParameters of the objectdataprovider, or b) how to force it to call the method each time the tooltip is opened. Any ideas/pointers on the general pattern I need? Not looking for complete solution, just any ideas from those more experienced

  • WCF, net.tcp, and ASP.NET development server

    I'm setting up a net.tcp WCF service using instructions here: http://blogs.msdn.com/swiss_dpe_team/archive/2008/02/08/iis-7-support-for-non-http-protocols.aspx One of the steps says to do the following: "If you open the IIS7 management console and you look at the advance setting of our IIS7HostedService Web Application, you will see that in the Enabled Protocols section just http is defined. You now have to add net.tcp (separated by a comma), so that our service will be able to respond also to TCP requests." This is fine, but what if I want to use the Cassini / VS2010 ASP.NET development server to debug (hitting F5 or cntrl-F5)? I don't think there's a way to change the settings in that IIS. Or is there? Are other programmers just so awesome that they don't need to go through the debugger? Or do they use wsHttpBinding?

    I have a ListView in which one of the column contains combo box. I have binded the selectedItem of a Listview, so that I get the current object (selected row ) in the listview. When I do any operation in a combo box like selection change then the listview row ( in which that combo box belongs) is not selected be default and hence my selectedItem gives null or previous row selected object.     I am coming from Flex where you can do just about anything inside of curly braces. I am trying to get a TextBlock to display today's Date and Time without just coding it in C#. I have tried many different variations of the following with no luck. TextBlock Text="{Source=Date, Path=Now, StringFormat='dd/MM/yyyy'}" I know I could probably just set a property MyDate and bind to that but why can't I bind directly to the DateTime.Now property?

    Hello, I am a seasoned C and Java programmer, but an absolute WPF newbie. I am creating a kiosk application that will display a list of images of products that the user will click to see product details and maybe place an order. I am trying to structure my app with MVVM Foundation because I am used to the benefits of structure and tests. I wonder what is the most natural way to create a grid of clickable images that will fill the screen left to right, top to bottom (or the other way round, I have no exact requirements). Any image should be bound to an object that will become current and be displayed in the next screen. Thanks for your help.

    I have some ListBoxes in my WPF app. I would like to be able to view how the design looks with out having to run the app. But I still want to be able to bind to ItemsSource to my View Model. I know I saw a blog post on how to do this, but I cannot seem to find it now. To reiterate, I want dummy data at design time, but real data at run time and not break the MVVM pattern. Any ideas?
