  • Simple Modal with Autocomplete in ASP.NET

    - by DanielJaymes
    Hello, I am quite new to this so any help is very much appreciated. I am generating a modal pop using Simple Modal, this works ok. I now want to add jquery autocomplete to the element txtEmail. When I run the page outside of Simple Modal I can use Autocomplete, however when the page is loaded through Simple Modal it does not work. I have checked to ensure the element is loaded, and it is allowing me to change the text color, but I can not add autocomplete to it. The code is /** * @author Daniel */ jQuery(function($) { $("input.ema, a.ema").click(function(e) { e.preventDefault(); $("#osx-modal-content").modal({ appendTo: 'form', overlayId: 'osx-overlay', containerId: 'osx-container', closeHTML: '<div class="close"><a href="#" class="simplemodal-close">X</a></div>', minHeight: 80, opacity: 65, position: ['0', ], overlayClose: true, onOpen: OSX.open, onClose: OSX.close, onShow: OSX.show }); }); var OSX = { container: null, open: function(d) { var self = this; $.ajax({ url: "/Message/UserMessage/", type: 'GET', dataType: 'html', // <-- to expect an html response success: function(result) { var data = "Core Selectors Attributes Traversing Manipulation CSS Events Effects Ajax Utilities".split(" "); $('div#osx-modal-data').html(result).find("#txtEmail").css('color', '#c00'); if ($('div#osx-modal-data').find("#txtEmail").length) { // implies *not* zero $('div#osx-modal-data').find("#txtEmail").autocomplete(data); alert('We found img elements on the page using "img"'); } else { alert('No txtEmail elements found'); } } }); self.container = d.container[0]; d.overlay.fadeIn('slow', function() { $("#osx-modal-content", self.container).show(); $('div#osx-modal-title').html("Send Email"); var title = $("#osx-modal-title", self.container); title.show(); d.container.slideDown('slow', function() { setTimeout(function() { var h = $("#osx-modal-data", self.container).height() + title.height() + 20; // padding d.container.animate({ height: h }, 200, function() { $("div.close", self.container).show(); $("#osx-modal-data", self.container).show(); }); }, 300); }); }) }, close: function(d) { var self = this; d.container.animate({ top: "-" + (d.container.height() + 20) }, 500, function() { self.close(); // or $.modal.close(); }); }, show: function(d) { // $('div#osx-modal-data').find("#txtEmail").css('color', '#ccc') } }; });

  • How can I move from Java and ColdFusion to Ruby on Rails?

    - by Ciaran Archer
Currently I work with ColdFusion 9+ and some Java in a Windows environment. Prior to ColdFusion, my background was in Java and JSP. I'm considering a move towards Ruby on Rails, as I think it would be a real challenge, keep things fresh, and provide more job opportunities. In order to get into it, I started to build my personal website in Rails 3.0. But what else can I do to make this transition from what I know now to Ruby and Rails? Are there specific or idiomatic aspects of Ruby or Rails I should keep in mind when switching over from a ColdFusion and Java mindset?

  • NTFS Issues in Windows 7 and 2008 R2 - 'Is it a Bug?'

    - by renewieldraaijer
I have been using the various versions of the Microsoft Windows product line since NT4 and I really thought I knew the ins and outs about the NTFS filesystem by now. There were always a few rules of thumb to understand what happens if you move data around. These rules were: "If you copy data, the copied data will inherit the permissions of the location it is being copied to. The same goes for moving data between disk partitions. Only when you move data within the same partition, the permissions are kept."  Recently I was asked to assist in troubleshooting some NTFS related issues. This forced me to have another good look at this theory. To my surprise I found out that this theory does not completely stand anymore. Apparently some things have changed since the release of Windows Vista / Windows 2008. Since the release of these Operating Systems, a move within the same disk partition results in the data inheriting the permissions of the location it is being copied into. A major change in the NTFS filesystem you would think!  Not quite! The above only counts when the move operation is being performed by using Windows Explorer. A move by using the 'move' command from within a cmd prompt for example, retains the NTFS permissions, just like before in Windows XP and older systems. Conclusion: The Windows Explorer is responsible for changing the ACL's of the moved data. This is a remarkable change, but if you follow this theory, the resulting ACL after a move operation is still predictable.  We could say that since Windows Vista and Windows 2008, a new rule set applies: "If you copy data, the copied data will inherit the permissions of the location it is being copied to. Same goes for moving data between disk partitions and within disk partitions. Only when you move data within the same partition by using something else than the Windows Explorer, the permissions are kept." The above behavior should be unchanged in Windows 7 / Windows 2008 R2, compared to Windows Vista / 2008. But somehow the NTFS permissions are not so predictable in Windows 7 and Windows 2008 R2. Moving data within the same disk partition the one time results in the permissions being kept and the next time results in inherited permissions from the destination location. I will try to demonstrate this in a few examples: Example 1 (Incorrect behavior): Consider two folders, 'Folder A' and 'Folder B' with the following permissions configured.                    Now we create the test file 'test file 1.txt' in 'Folder A' and afterwards move this file to 'Folder B' using Windows Explorer.                       According to the new theory, the file should inherit the permissions of 'Folder B' and therefore 'Group B' should appear in the ACL of 'test file 1.txt'. In the screenshot below the resulting permissions are displayed. The permissions from the originating location are kept, while the permissions of 'Folder B' should be inherited.                   Example 2 (Correct behavior): Again, consider the same two folders. This time we make a small modification to the ACL of 'Folder A'. We add 'Group C' to the ACL and again we create a file in 'Folder A' which we name 'test file 2.txt'.                    Next, we move 'test file 2.txt' to 'Folder B'.                       Again, we check the permissions of 'test file 2.txt' at the target location. We can now see that the permissions are inherited. This is what should be happening, and can be considered 'correct behavior' for Windows Vista / 2008 / 7 / 2008 R2. It remains uncertain why this behavior is so inconsistent. At this time, this is under investigation with Microsoft Support. The investigation has been going for the last two weeks and it is beginning to look like there is no rational reason for this, other than a bug in the Windows Explorer in Windows 7 and 2008 R2. As soon as there is any certainty on this, I will note it here in this blog.                   The examples above are harmless tests, by using my own laptop. If you would create the same set of folders and groups, and configure exactly the same permissions, you will see exactly the same behavior. Be sure to use Windows 7 or Windows 2008 R2.   Initially the problem arose at a customer site where move operations on data on the fileserver by users would result in unpredictable results. This resulted in the wrong set of people having àccess permissions on data that they should not have permissions to. Off course this is something we want to prevent at all costs.   I have also done several tests with move operations by using the move command in a cmd prompt. This way the behavior is always consistent. The inconsistent behavior is only exposed when using the Windows Explorer to initiate the move operation, and only when using Windows 7 or Windows 2008 R2 systems. It is evident that this behavior changes when the ACL of a folder has been changed, for example by adding an extra entry. The reason for this remains uncertain though. To be continued…. • What skills should a developer/tester learn in order to move into a permanent Systems Analysis role?

    - by shenaz
I have been with a software services firm for 5 years and have fallen into a "jack of all trades" role, which I am looking to move out of. I've spent about 1 year each in programming (VB/VB.NET), application support, systems analysis, and most recently, software testing, which in my current position is all manual. I've really lost interest in the programming and testing roles; I would prefer a position where I get to work more with people, such as systems analysis. I even got a chance to be a trainer at the same company for a few months, a temporary position which I enjoyed very much. Given that most of my real experience is with software, support, and testing, what knowledge areas and skills should I focus on learning and mastering in order to make myself an attractive candidate for a permanent position as a business/systems analyst?

  • Working as Test Engineer and looking to move into Identity Management Technology. Possible?

    - by Aditi Bhatnagar
I have been working as Test Engineer for past 2.5 year. The project is related to Identity Management and I am in love with the technology. I want to move into the same field. I don't aim to be a hard core coder but rather an analyst or an IDM architect. Is it realistically possible to do so? I see some possible issues, since the field is fairly new in India and for the time being I don't have coding/deployment experience at all. If it is nonetheless possible to switch into this new technology, what kind of effort I have to put in? What are the possible steps that you can suggest to try this switch?

  • Stop map from scrolling but let player still move?

    - by ChocoMan
I have a basic method of scrolling around on a map (moving the map instead of the player), but at when the player gets to a certain proximity to the edge, how do you stop the map from scrolling, but still allow the player to move around until it is away from that proximity? I'm not looking for any code. Just a suggestion so that I can implement it myself. I can see it visually (creating 4 boxed intersecting boundaries for the player to enter), but not sure how to come about stopping and resuming the scrolling of the map.

  • Strange Scala error.

    - by Lukasz Lew
I tried to create abstract turn based Game and abstract AI: abstract class AGame { type Player type Move // Player inside def actPlayer : Player def moves (player : Player) : Iterator[Move] def play (move : Move) def undo () def isFinished : Boolean def result (player : Player) : Double } abstract class Ai[Game <: AGame] { def genMove (player : Game#Player) : Game#Move } class DummyGame extends AGame { type Player = Unit type Move = Unit def moves (player : Player) = new Iterator[Move] { def hasNext = false def next = throw new Exception ("asd") } def actPlayer = () def play (move : Move) { } def undo () { } def isFinished = true def result (player : Player) = 0 } class DummyAi[Game <: AGame] (game : Game) extends Ai[Game] { override def genMove (player : Game#Player) : Game#Move = { game.moves (player).next } } I thought that I have to use this strange type accessors like Game#Player. I get very puzzling error. • How can I make my main character move in a parabolic arc when jumping?

    - by user1276078
I'm entering Android game development, and I already have a computer version of a game I want to publish. The thing is, I want to make this as good as it can be. With that said, I need a physics engine, really to only do one thing: make a parabolic movement of my main character as he's jumping in the air. Currently, my computer version simply makes the guy move up at a 45 degree angle, and as soon as it hits the ceiling, down at a 45 degree angle. I need a physics engine/library that would accomplish that, it has to be in java since that's my best language, it has to be 2D, and it has to be able to work on Android. Which physics engine/library could accomplish all of that?

  • How do I disable window move with alt + left mouse button in GNOME Shell?

    - by artfulrobot
There are lots of posts on this about Unity, this is about gnome-shell As with other posters, I use apps (Inkscape in particular) that uses Alt-Click and Alt-drag. Gnome-shell is grabbing this off me and thus disabling features in the application. I have tried using ccsm's Move plugin - you can turn this off and you still get Alt-drag window moving. using gconf editor to change /apps/metacity/general/mouse_button_modifier - this has no effect AFAICS. It's really hindering me. Otherwise I find gnome-shell a really productive environment.

  • How can I convince my company to move to MVC?

    - by guanome
I currently write web apps using asp.net web forms and getting my company to move to another technology is like [insert funny line here]. I would really like to start writing apps using MVC, but they fear any type of change. How is the best way to convince/ease them into using MVC? I guess this can go for moving to any new technology. Update Decided to go the rogue developer route and just started using it. I recreated a small app in MVC and learned the ropes that way, and moved up from there.

  • how to convince other we should move to hadoop?

    - by Ramy
Everything I've read about Hadoop seems like exactly the technology we need to make our enterprise more scalable. We have terabytes of raw data that is in non-relational form (text files of some kind). We're quickly approaching the upper limits of what our centralized file server can handle and everyone is aware of this. Most people on the tech team, especially the more junior members of the tech team are all in favor of moving from the central file system to HDFS. The problem is, there is one key (most senior, etc.) member of the team who is resisting this change and every time Hadoop comes up, he tells us that we could simply add another file server and be in the clear. So, my question (and yes, it's really subjective, but I need more help with this than any of my other questions) is what steps can we take to get upper management to move forward with Hadoop despite the hesitation of one member of the team?

  • how to rename and move files according to directory names?

    - by Shan
I have bunch of directories containing the file with the same name. I want to move these files to another directory and at the same time renaming them with the directory name so that they are distinguished and are not over-written. EDIT: All the directories are in the same directory. Destination is one directory on the system which could be anything. We read directory and read file form it and rename it exactly as the directory name and put it to the destination. An important constraint is that the name of the file is given which will be in all of the directories. Directories might contain other files bit also the one which is given Thanks a lot

  • How do we know the correct moves of Tower of Hanoi?

    - by Saqib
We know that: In case of iterative solution: Alternating between the smallest and the next-smallest disks, follow the steps for the appropriate case: For an even number of disks: make the legal move between pegs A and B make the legal move between pegs A and C make the legal move between pegs B and C repeat until complete For an odd number of disks: make the legal move between pegs A and C make the legal move between pegs A and B make the legal move between pegs B and C repeat until complete In case of recursive solution: To move n discs from peg A to peg C: move n-1 discs from A to B. This leaves disc n alone on peg A move disc n from A to C move n-1 discs from B to C so they sit on disc n Now the questions are: How did we get this two solutions? Only by intuition? Or by logical/mathematical computation? If computation, how?

  • Are VM-based languages becoming viable for Graphics since the move to GPU computing?

    - by skiwi
Perhaps the title is not the most clear, so let me elaborate it more: I am talking about VM-based languages, by that I mean languages that run on the JVM (java) and for example C#. Also I am talking about 3D graphics, just to be clear. Lately the trend has been that most computing is being done on the GPU and not on the CPU, and since times the issue with programming games on a VM-based language is that garbage collecting may happen randomly. So let's take a look which is responsible for what: Showing the graphics: GPU Uploading graphics to the GPU: CPU? Needs to be done every frame? Calculating physics constraints: GPU Doing the real game logic (Determining when to move objects (independent of physics calculations), processing AI): CPU Is my list actually correct? And if it is, is for example Java becoming more viable? Or is uploading the graphics (vertices) still the most expensive operation? Would like to get more insight into this.

  • How will the search rank get impacted if i move my mobile website to a single page application?

I have two different versions of my site. A desktop version and a mobile optimised version. That is for the same url the server renders different html for different user agents. I had been using vary header for this scheme as recommended by Google. However, now i want to move the mobile website to a single page application for several reasons. I want to know if google stops seeing anything on my mobile web version but the desktop version continues to work as it is, then how would the search rank be impacted given that mobile web gets more traffic than the desktop version. How would the vary header come jnto play

  • What can cause System.Move to occasionaly give wrong results?

    - by Fredrik Loftheim
    The last few days we have had some strange problems with our database components developed by a third party. There has been no changes to these components for months. The code that HAS changed the last few days is our own code and we have also updated our gui-components developed by another third party. After debugging I have found that a call to System.Move in one of the database component procedures occationaly gives wrong results! Please take a look at the code below from the database components and read my comments. How can this inconsistent behaviour happen? Can anyone give me an idea of how to procede to find the cause of this inconsistent behaviour? NB! I dont think there is anything wrong with THIS code, it is only shown to explain the problem "symptoms". My guess is that there is some sort of memory corruption or something, caused by our code or the updated gui-component-code. Edit: Take a look at the blogpost linked below. It seems that it could be related to my problem. At least as I read it it confirms that System.Move can give wrong results: http://blog.excastle.com/2007/08/28/delphi-bug-of-the-day-fpu-stack-leak/ Procedure InternalDescribe; var cbufl: sb4; //sb4=LongInt cbuf: array[0..30] of char; cbufp: PChar; //.... begin //..Some code repeat //...Some code to initialize cbufp and cbufl //On the 15. iteration the values immediately Before Move are always these: //cbufp = 'STDPRODUCTSTOREDELEMENTSCOUNT' //cbuf = ('S', 'T', 'A', 'T', 'U', 'S', #0, 'E', 'V', 'A', 'R', 'R', 'E', 'C', 'I', 'D', #0, 'D', 'U', 'C', 'T', 'I', 'D', #0, #0, #0, #0, #0, #0, #0, #0) //cbufl = 29 Move(cbufp^, cbuf, cbufl); //Values immediately After Move should then be: //cbuf = ('S', 'T', 'D', 'P', 'R', 'O', 'D', 'U', 'C', 'T', 'S', 'T', 'O', 'R', 'E', 'D', 'E', 'L', 'E', 'M', 'E', 'N', 'T', 'S', 'C', 'O', 'U', 'N', 'T', #0, #0) //But sometimes this Move results in this value( 1 in 5..15 times): //cbuf = ('S', 'T', 'D', 'P', 'R', 'O', 'D', 'U', 'C', 'T', 'S', 'T', 'O', 'R', 'E', 'D', #0, #0, #0, #0, #0, 'N', 'T', 'S', 'C', 'O', 'U', 'N', 'T', #0, #0) } until SomeCondition; //...Some more code end;

  • C# move file as soon as it becomes available.

    - by m0s
Hi, I need to accomplish the following task: Attempt to move a file. If file is locked schedule for moving as soon as it becomes available. I am using File.Move which is sufficient for my program. Now the problems are that: 1) I can't find a good way to check if the file I need to move is locked. I am catching System.IO.IOException but reading other posts around I discovered that the same exception may be thrown for different reasons as well. 2) Determining when the file gets unlocked. One way of doing this is probably using a timer/thread and checking the scheduled files lets say every 30 seconds and attempting to move them. But I hope there is a better way using FileSystemWatcher. This is a .net 3.5 winforms application. Any comments/suggestions are appreciated. Thanks for attention.

  • How do I move (copy) my entire Ubuntu system to a different hard disk?

    - by boywithaxe
The HDD I have my Ubuntu installed is about to fail. I would rather not lose 3 years worth of data, customisation and apps. I am looking for a way to move the complete system (SWAP included, because I'm not sure if I can relink the system to a new SWAP partition) to another HDD. But not the complete HDD< only the partition containing Ubuntu, to a partition on a different HDD. Basically I'd like to do what I've been able to do with Norton Ghost for my Windows install. I thought about using Clonezilla but I think I would have issues with GRUB (Especially trying to boot from a different UUID than what is in the conf file). do you know of any way this could be done? PS, my home directory is encrypted but that's not really an issue, because I can work around that. EDIT: changed the explanation to make it clearer

  • How do I repeatedly move an image by 1 pixel?

    - by Will
I have a method that is moving a UIImageView called shootImg across the screen: -(IBAction)shoot{ if (appDelegate.shootInt > 0) { if (direction == 1) { shootImg.center = CGPointMake(shootImg.center.x+1, shootImg.center.y); appDelegate.shootInt = appDelegate.shootInt - 1; shootLabel.text = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d", appDelegate.shootInt]; } This does seem to work. But it only moves shootImage 1 pixel. What I want to do is make it repeatedly move 1 pixel. I tried a while loop but that didn't seem to work. I'm not using cocos2d or anything like that and if you need to see more code just ask. Thanks :)

  • Unable to move file because it's being used by another process -- my program?

    - by joslinm
My program is unable to File.Move or File.Delete a file because it is being used "by another process", but it's actually my own program that is using it. I use Directory.GetFiles to initially get the file paths, and from there, I process the files by simply looking at their names and processing information that way. Consequently all I'm doing is working with the strings themselves, right? Afterwards, I try to move the files to a "Handled" directory. Nearly all of them will usually move, but from time to time, they simply won't because they're being used by my program. Why is it that most of them move but one or two stick around? Is there anything I can do to try freeing up the file? There's no streams to close.

    - by user1698774
I am on Ubuntu 12.04 running gnome shell 3. Everything worked fine until I updated just a few hours ago using the update package. First my default shortcuts stopped working, fixed it by creating custom ones. Now while on the desktop I can't right-click, move files to it or see the files that were there previously. However, in terminal I can navigate fine to Desktop and my files are there, except not visually on the desktop. Permissions are all set correctly. Please help. Thank you.

  • Can I move another program's window to the front of focus?

    - by TwentyMiles
I am interacting with a third party application using it's API, and would like to move it to the front of focus (so that it is on top of all other open windows) when a user performs a certain action. While I can move my application up and down in the hierarchy pretty easily, there doesn't appear to be a way to interact with other windows. Is it possible to move another program's window to front with Java?
