  • Trying to compile a linux-based app on Mac OS X

    I'm just trying to compile the linux-based FCEUX (NES emulator) on my mac, OS X 10.5 Leopard. Those are zlib functions. It seems like it is loading the zlib.h ok, but the symbols aren't being linked in? Just to make sure I downloaded the latest zlib and did a make install, no help. I have no clue what's going on here, it seems like it should be pretty basic, that library is nothing special. Help would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • What is the "official" place for community support for the Mere Mortals .NET framework?

    My team is using the Mere Mortals .NET framework from Oak Leaf. Being used to working with primarily open source software, I found it excruciatingly painful to find ANY community support for MM.NET. When I asked if there was any, the only place I was given to look for support was Universal Thread, which is a site which requires a membership for search and archived questions. It seems like a third party, pay-for site should not be the primary source of support for anything like this, especially MM.NET which costs $700 per developer. It doesn' to me like an entire community around MM.NET would choose to all pay on top of the license just to use a forum. If not Universal Thread, then what is the "official" place to find support for the Mere Mortals .NET framework?

  • Windows Azure Table Storage LINQ Operators

    Currently Table Storage supports From, Where, Take, and First. Are there plans to support any of the other 29 operators? If we have to code for these ourselves, how much of a performance difference are we looking at to something similar via SQL and SQL Server? Do you see it being somewhat comparable or will it be far far slower if I need to do a Count or Sum or Group By over a gigantic dataset? I like the Azure platform and the idea of cloud based storage. I like Windows Azure for the amount of data it can store and the schema-less nature of table storage. SQL Azure just won't work due to the high cost to storage space.

  • How do I open a web browser from a .NET Program? Process.Start() isn't working?

    I have a URL and I want to launch it in the default browser. I've tried two methods: Process.Start("http://stackoverflow.com"); ... and the one detailed in this other question using ShellExecute. In both cases I get the error: Windows cannot find 'http://stackoverflow.com'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. It shouldn't be trying to open it as a file though... from what I understand, it should recognize it as a URL and open it in the default browser. What am I missing? By the way: OS = Vista, and .NET = 3.5 EDIT: According to this MS KB article, since Process.Start sets the UseShellExecute by default, it should launch the default browser.

Any suggestion guys?

  • How can I change 'self.view' within a button method created outside of 'loadView'

    Hey guys. So I am creating buttons dynamically within loadView. Each of these buttons is given an action using the @Selector method, such as : [button addTarget:self action:@selector(showCCView) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; Now that showCCView method is defined outside of loadView, where this above statement is located. The point of the method is to change the view currently on the screen (so set self.view = ccView). It gives me an error every time I try and access self.view outside of loadView, and even sometimes when I try and access it at random places within loadView, it just has been acting really weird. I tried to change it around so I wouldn't have to deal with this either. I had made a function + (void) showView: (UIView*) oldView: (UIView*) newView; but this didn't work out either because the @Selector was being real prissy about using it with a function that needed two parameters.   • jQuery image hover color overlay

    I can't seem to find any examples of this having been done anywhere on the internet before but here is what I am going to attempt to do...I'm trying to go about the cleanest possible way of laying this out. So I have an image gallery where the images are all different sizes. I want to make it so that when you mouseover the image, it turns a shade of orange. Just a simple hover effect. I want to do this without using an image swap, otherwise I'd have to create an orange colored hover-image for each individual gallery image, I'd like this to be a bit more dynamic. My plan is just to position an empty div over the image absolutely with a background color, width and height 100% and opacity: 0. Then using jquery, on mouseover I'd have the opacity fade to 0.3 or so, and fade back to zero on mouseout. My question is, what would be the best way to layout the html and css to do this efficiently and cleanly.   • ssh-keygen accepting stdin

    I am trying to call ssh-keygen using a variable through bash as an input instead of a file to get a fingerprint of a public key. This method does not work as it says the key file is invalid (it's correct for sure) echo $pubkey | ssh-keygen -lf /dev/stdin This does work ssh-keygen -lf /dev/stdin < alpha.pub This does not work because I get an ambiguous redirect ssh-keygen -lf /dev/stdin < $(echo $pubkey) I would appreciate some insight as to how to get ssh-keygen to read from a variable with a public key and if possible, an explanation as to why the redirects aren't doing what I think they should be doing. I searched online but many of the redirect tutorials didn't seem to answer my questions.

I dont want to have to make seperate queries for each categorised group of discs either, as Id eventually have 30 queries being run as categories increase, so hoping to hear some suggestions or alternative approaches :) Thanks

The reason for this is the controll on tab 2 is not in the "created" state, so its binding to change the checkbox from unchecked to checked does not happen until after the control has been "Created". checkbox1.CreateControl() does not do anything because according to MSDN CreateControl does not create a control handle if the control's Visible property is false. You can either call the CreateHandle method or access the Handle property to create the control's handle regardless of the control's visibility, but in this case, no window handles are created for the control's children. I tried getting the value of Handle(there is no public CreateHandle() for CheckBox) but still the same result. Any suggestions other than have the program quickly flash all of my tabs that have data-bound check boxes when it first loads? EDIT-- per Jaxidian's suggestion I created a new class public class newcheckbox : CheckBox { public new void CreateHandle() { base.CreateHandle(); } } I call CreateHandle() right after updating = true same results as before.

  • Limit iPhone in-app purchase by user's country

    Hello everyone. I'm a product manager who works for a small internet company that is developing an iPhone application for a social network. We monetize by offering limited and premium memberships to users (premium members get additional features not available to limited members). For billing on the web, we use a 3rd-party payment gateway that is nearing retirement, and will be replaced by an in-house solution. The business wants a global launch for our iPhone app using iTunes + in-app purchasing as a payment gateway. The problem with going global using this payment method is that for our web service membership level, available features, and subscription costs are defined by country. For example, in the US premium/limited memberships are available at 5 pricing tiers; in France premium/limited memberships are available at 5 different pricing tiers from the US; and in Chile the service is available for free and all features are available to users. Is it possible then to have the server-side, based on the user's country of registration, control the level of access, features, and payment options for users on the iPhone? I'd also note that since iTunes Connect does not allow variable pricing by currency and country, each "region" would need 5 in app purchase options. I argued for a US-only launch for iPhone using iTunes in app purchase until an in-house payment gateway is available. But you know...

  • .NET Excel Interop - Why aren't my Footers displaying in my printed output file?

    I'm working with C# and Office 2007's Excel Interop API. I'm opening an Excel file, applying some formatting and then sending it to the printer. I've got a problem, though. The Footer text doesn't appear to be printing. If I check the PageSetup.RightFooter property, I can see the expected Page Number in the Footer. That Page Number doesn't appear anywhere on the printed output sheet. When I print using Excel, though, they appear. Does anyone know why my Footer text is not appearing? Here's my code.     I am using MVVM binding an ObservableCollection of children to an ItemsControl.   • Write directly to a remote Git repository, without adding objects to a local index/repo?

    Does Git support any commands that would allow me to commit directly from a local/working tree into a remote repository? The normal workflow requires a "git add", at least, to populate the object database with copies of the file contents, etc. I understand that this is NOT the normal, expected Git workflow. But I noticed that Git already supports downloading directly from the repository, with no local repo ("git archive"), so it seems reasonable that there might be a similar uploading operation. Alternatively, if there isn't such a command in the core Git itself, does any 3rd-party software support direct remote writes?

  • bgiframe appears in front of jquery modal dialog's overlay in IE6

    When I look at jquery ui's demo modal dialog (http://jqueryui.com/demos/dialog/#modal) in IE6 the bgiframe is appearing on top of the background overlay. So instead of seeing a black/gray stripe pattern, there is just a white background covering the page with the word "false" in the upper left corner. Is bgiframe broken with the latest version of jqueryui? Is there a quick way to repair this problem with bgiframe? If not, is there a plugin that hides selects when a modal dialog is shown? The ie6 z-index issue with selects is the reason I was using bgiframe in the first place.

  • SVN Serve, Missing a Directory

    I'm sure this is an asinine question, and I blame myself for not fully understanding how the SVNSERVE process works. I have an SVN repo, but it needs to be moved to a server within a clients cloud. I did this a while back and ran into the issue of the SVNSERVE.exe process not getting set to the right directory. I have the SVNSERVE.exe process running as a windows service and pointing to the right directory. There are two other repos there that are serving out fine in the same directory. I copied out the new directory just like I did with the others, but I'm getting the error "No repository found". I thought that SVNSERVE just looked at that directory and served out the repositories that were there, but I have had a hard time finding more information about that. I thought it was a Windows permission problem, but I set the whole folder to be full control to EVERYONE, so that's not it. I feel horrible I didn't fully understand this problem the first time I fought it, but it's late on a Sunday night and clients are yelling. Anyone know what I'm missing? Thanks. EDIT: It's specific to the repository. I tested the same process with some of the other repos we have on our server and when I copied them up, they worked just as expected. This bug is breaking me and I wish I could provide more details, but that's all I know. I'm going to try to do an SVN Dump instead of an XCopy and see how that goes. I'll let you know.

    I've been working on this program for a few days now and I've implemented a few of the primary methods in my BinarySearchTree class such as insert and delete. Insert seemed to be working fine, but once I try to delete I kept getting errors. So after playing around with the code I wanted to test my compareTo methods. I created two new nodes and tried to compare them and I get this error: Exception in thread "main" java.lang.ClassCastException: TreeNode cannot be cast to java.lang.Integer at java.lang.Integer.compareTo(Unknown Source) at TreeNode.compareTo(TreeNode.java:16) at BinarySearchTree.myComparision(BinarySearchTree.java:177) at main.main(main.java:14) Here is my class for creating the nodes: public class TreeNode<T> implements Comparable { protected TreeNode<T> left, right; protected Object element; public TreeNode(Object obj) { element=obj; left=null; right=null; } public int compareTo(Object node) { return ((Comparable) this.element).compareTo(node); } } Am I doing the compareTo method all wrong? My current application (that serves 100's of users) currently uses Oracle as the database. I have no stored procs (I wish actually). Now, I've been asked if the product will work if I migrate to IBM DB2 as the database. So, after taking Oracle for granted all this while.... and having re-read Tom's article on MVCC (Multiversion Concurrency Control) and going through this post stating that DB2 is not 'on the list' or 'just tip-toeing in the area' as it were... I know I can't be sure that the product will work with DB2 as is. Is there no hope.. or is there a nice disclaimer I could use.. ?

  • Do I need to include the 'this' when using a property name in a closure?

    I'm using a list of Actions to store an undo history for an object. Let's say I have a property of my object called myChildObject and it's being changed, so I want to store the undo action where I would set it back to it's current value: public class Class1 { public Class1() { } private readonly List<Action> m_undoActions = new List<Action>(); private SomeObject myChildObject { get; set; } public void ChangeState(SomeObject newChildObject) { // copies the reference SomeObject existingObject = myChildObject; m_undoActions.Add(() => myChildObject = existingObject); myChildObject = newChildObject; } } Looking at the lambda expression, existingObject is a local variable, so it's using a closure to pass a reference to that variable, but what about the property myChildObject? Do I need to use 'this' to preface it? Do I need to make a copy of the 'this' reference to a local variable first? Thanks for helping me understand this closure stuff.

  • Should I be concerned about performance with connections to multiple databases?

    I have a PHP app that is running on an Apache server with MySQL databases. Based on the subdomain that users access, I am connecting them to a database (sub1.domain.com connects to database_sub1 and sub2.domain.com connects to database_sub2). Right now there are 10 subdomain-database combos, but that number could potentially grow to well over 100. So, is this a bad thing? Considering my situation, is myslq_pconnect a better way to go?
