• How to customize form web part to include multiple columns in search??

  Hi, I have edited my form web part to look like this. I am a newbie to moss. As i understand, form web part allows only 1 column to be mapped to my list at a time. I need to configure to it have multiple columns mapped to my list view. Do I need to change any javascript function or use sharepoint designer. I have spent a week trying to accomplish this. Stillon a dead end. Please give some detailed information on how to accomplish this. Any guidance would be extremely helpful. Thanks in advance.

  Hi, I have a datagrid with customer data such as ID, name, email, phone etc. When I select a row (with a button or selectionchanged) I want to store that row's columns in variables like dim email as string dim name as string email = dgCustomers.theselectedrow.theselectedcell name = dgCustomers.theselectedrow.theselectedcell If I have a datatable with only one row I know I can get column data with: dim email as string = CustomerDataTableInstance.rows(0).Item("Email") I don't know how to get the selected row number though when I have several rows and the user clicks one/uses the keyboard. The datagrid is bound to a datatable, not a class with object collections. Any help is appreciated!

• Many to Many Association Tables - Is it customary to put additional columns in these tables?

  We've encountered the following situation in our database. We have table 'A' and table 'B' which have a M2M relationship. The association table is named 'AB' and contains a FK column to table 'A' and a FK column to table 'B'. Now we've identified a need to store additional data about this association. For example, a date when the association occurred, and who made the association etc. We've decided to put these additional columns in the 'AB' association table. However, something tells me this is frowned upon by database purists. On the other hand, it makes no sense to us to create yet an additional table to store this associated data. What's the prevailing thought on this?

• Will MyISAM type tables work better than InnoDB for large numbers of columns?

  I have a MySQL InnoDB table with 238 columns. 56 of them are TEXT type, 27 are VARCHAR(255). I am getting MySQL error 139 when users insert data sometimes. After research I found that I'm probably running into InnoDB row size/column size/column count limitations. (I'm putting it that way because the specific limits among those three things are interdependent.) Docs on InnoDB give an idea of the limits. If I switch this table to MyISAM is it likely to solve the problem? I understand the maximum row size of 65,535 bytes. I think I'm hitting InnoDB's additional 8000 byte limit somehow. Switching to PostgreSQL is also a remote option, but would take much longer.

However, if the user removes all of the OWN, WANT, and TRADE cards, they go to zero but it will leave the record in the database. I would prefer to have the record removed. Is checking after each "update" to see if all the columns = 0 the only way to do this? Or can I set a conditional trigger with something like: //psuedo sql AFTER update IF (OWN = 0, WANT = 0, TRADE = 0) DELETE What is the best way to do this? Can you help with the syntax?

  I am trying to bind data from database to datagrid in silverlight. When I get typed data from DB, it is no problem since I use List<'EntityObject' collection object for example. However, sometimes I need data which I won't be able to know how many and what columns will be generated in design time. In this case, I cannot use typed collection like List<'EntityObject'.   Ho do I prevent a duplicate row from being created in a table with two columns, neither of which are unique? And can this be done using MySQL only, or does it require checks with my PHP script?   I have the following tables below City --------- CityID StateID Name Description Reports --------- ReportID HeaderID FooterID Description I’m trying to generate a grid for use in a .Net control (Gridview, Listview…separate issue about which will be the ‘best’ one to use for my purposes) which will assign the reports as the columns and the cities as the rows. Which cities get displayed is based on the state selected, and is easy enough SELECT * FROM CITIES WHERE STATEID=@StateID However, the user is able to select which reports are being generated for each City (Demographics, Sales, Land Area, etc.). Further, the resultant cells (City * Report) is a sub-query on different tables based on the city selected and the report. Ie. Column Sales selected yields SELECT * FROM SALES WHERE CITYID=@CityID I’ve programmed a VERY inelegant solution using multiple queries and brute-forcing the grid to be created (line by line, row by row creation of data elements), but I’m positive there’s got to be a better way of accomplishing this…? Any / all suggestions appreciated here as the brute force approach I’ve gotten is slow and cumbersome…and this will have to be used often by the client, so I’m not sure it’ll be acceptable in it’s current implementation.

This requires the creation of a new table, and inserting a foreign key in the new table that references the Primary key of an already existing table. So I want to set up a relationship between my new tblTwo, which references the primary key of tblOne. However when I tried to do this (through SQL Server Management Studio) I got the following error: The columns in table 'tblOne' do not match an existing primary key or UNIQUE constraint I'm not really sure what this means, and I was wondering if there was any way around it?

• Is there a way to include commas in CSV columns without breaking the formatting?

  I've got a two column CSV with a name and a number. Some people's name use commas, for example "Joe Blow, CFA." This comma breaks the CSV format, since it's interpreted as a new column. I've read up and the most common prescription seems to be replacing that character, or replacing the delimiter, with a new value (e.g. "this|that|the, other"). I'd really like to keep the comma separator (I know excel supports other delimiters but other interpreters may not). I'd also like to keep the comma in the name, as "Joe Blow| CFA" looks pretty silly. Is there a way to include commas in CSV columns without breaking the formatting, for example by escaping them?

  I my User has_many :event_patrons and EventPatron belongs_to :user. I would like to slap together the user with one specific event patron with something like this sql statement: SELECT * FROM `users` INNER JOIN `event_patrons` ON `event_patrons`.`user_id` = `users`.`id` WHERE `event_patrons`.`event_id` = 1 So in rails I tried this: User.all(:joins => :event_patrons, :condidions => {:event_patrons => {:event_id => 1}}) But that gives me SELECT users.* instead of SELECT *: SELECT `users`* FROM `users` INNER JOIN `event_patrons` ON `event_patrons`.`user_id` = `users`.`id` WHERE `event_patrons`.`event_id` = 1 I then tried to switch the :joins with :include and got a whole jumbled mess that still returned me only the columns in User and none from EventPatron. What am I missing?

  Here is the situation dealing with a vb.net website, I have students who will be enrolled into a course. The student grid view has many columns like client_no, student_name, date_of_birth, address, etc. There are over 100000 students so I will need to filter the student grid view to find the correct student to enroll in the course. Once they are found, the user selects them and somehow moves them to the enrolled grid view. If a student drops out then they would be removed from the enrolled grid view. This process needs to be easy to understand and use. Are there any examples available or other suggestions on how to do this?

Is there any way to tell MySQL to use _utf8 automatically, so when I'm programatically making prepared statements, I don't have to worry about including it with the right parameters?

I working on a state machine of a character and is necessary for me follow this too. I have four classes who pass this limit. I can subclass each class in two more and then avoid the line length limit. class Stand class Walk class Punch class Crouch The new classes would be StandLeft, StandRight and so on. Stand, Walk, Punch and Crouch would be then abstract classes. The question if there is a limit for the long of the hierarchies tree or this is depends of the case.

The two methods have the same name because I think it's better to avoid overloading the design with different names for methods that do almost the same thing, but in distinct contexts and classes. Is this clear enough to the reader or I should change the method's name?
