  • finding elements with text using jQuery

    I want to create an array of all the html elements within a div that contain text strings, such as <p>some string</p>. I don't want to get hold of the strings, I want the array items to be the elements (in the example, would be the p node). I do not know before hand what the strings will be, so I can't look for string values to match. I also don't want empty text nodes to end up in the array. Thanks!

  • Storing SQL in MySQL: Insert as Text?

    Hey all, Working in a team environment, each one of us has put together our own list of SQL statements that we use to help with our day to day job functions. As the case often is, there may be some redundancy with this, and we are often in need of each other's statements. To circumvent this, I'm looking to put together a small app that can be used to store and search for these SQL statements. To begin with, I'm keeping it basic, just storing and searching the statements. This may build out to be the actual execution at some point in the future, but I'm not concerning myself with this at the time. This will be built with PHP and MySQL - Should I store the SQL as text, or is there something that I need to be concerned with?

    Is it possible to add a horizontal scrollbar to a text box that works in all browsers? Currently if the text value is bigger than the size of the text box you have to highlight the text and move cursor to the right to see the rest of the text. I'd like user to have a scrollbar to use instead.

  • CodeIgniter won't run in a subdirectory

    I have a CodeIgniter install running in our root web directory that I copied into a subdirectory called /dev... I edited the config/config.php file to reflect the change so it is now like this: $config['base_url'] = 'http://mysite.com/dev'; $config['sbase_url'] = 'https://mysite.com/dev'; $config['default_email'] = '[email protected]'; $config['site_url'] = 'http://mysite.com/dev'; This is my .htaccess file: <IfModule mod_rewrite.c> RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php/$1 [L] </IfModule> When I hover over any links on the site they are correct, for example the contact us page link reads www.mysite.com/dev/contact but when I click any of the links I get a 404 error... Is there something common I am missing?

  • Which regex flavors support captures (as opposed to capturing groups)?

    As I just learned from this question, .NET regexes can access individual matches within a repeated capturing group. I. e., if I apply a regex like \b(\w+\s*)+ to a string of words, only the last word will be stored in \1 or Match.Groups(1).Value, but using Match.Groups(1).Captures I get access to all the individual matches the regex iterated over. Are there other regex flavors that support this besides .NET?

  • Is it possible to create a link that acts like a button and can carry out a function when clicked?

    In PHP, I want to execute a function when a hyperlink is clicked. The only way I can think of doing this is by having the link attach a get parameter to the url when clicked and by doing an if statement that checks to see if that parameter exists and if so then have the function executed. But is there a way to do this like: <a href='#' onclick='<?php functionName(); ?>'> Obviously there are a million things wrong with this example but is it possible in any other way?

    I read through various threads like this one for example. But it really escapes me how to accomplish the following: I have 4 functions, and want them happen one after another in sequence. Notice they are in incorrect order, to get my point across. I want the result that will output "1, 2, 3, 4' function firstFunction(){ // some very time consuming asynchronous code... console.log('1'); } function thirdFunction(){ // definitely dont wanna do this until secondFunction is finished console.log('3'); } function secondFunction(){ // waits for firstFunction to be completed console.log('2'); } function fourthFunction(){ // last function, not executed until the other 3 are done. console.log('4'); } I tried to figure out callbacks but am getting lost :( Isn't there some simple way to do this?   • PowerPoint Paste HTML Loss of Color [closed]

    I am trying to paste HTML into powerpoint 2007. Everything works ok except that I lose the color of the text and the font. I am using the paste special method selecting html. Now I have read that some people have fixed the color loss problem by setting a color printer as their default. But that does not seem to be working for me nor would it fix the font. Thank you for any help.

My first level manager at my last position asked if Visual Studio was a graphics program... and you step up to a laptop at a conference and type "File->New Program" ... 'nuff said... oh yeah, thanks for the shoutout! John Papa Thanks for being a good friend, ramroding the Firestarter, being a great guy to be around, and for the poster... holy crap is that cool. Tim Heuer Thanks for all you did as a great DE in Phoenix, and for helping out so many of us, of course being a great guy, and for the poster as well... I think you and John shared that task. In no order at all my buddy Michael Washington, Laurent Bugnion (the other half of the first Silverlight MVP of the Year) Tim Sneath, Mike Harsh, Chad Campbell and Bryant Likes (from back in the day), Adam Kinney, Jesse Liberty, Jeff Paries, Pete Brown, András Velvárt, David Kelly, Michael Palermo, Scott Cate, Erik Mork, and on and on... don't feel bad if your name didn't appear, I have simply too many supporters to name. Silverlight Firestarter Indeed All the people mentioned here, and all the MVPs knew Silverlight was NOT dead, but because of a very unfortunate circumstance, the popular media opinion became that. Consequently the Firestarter exploded from a laid-back event to a global conference. People worked their ass off getting bits ready and presentations using those bits. All to stem the flow of misinformation. All involved please accept my personal thanks for an absolutely awesome job. I had the priviledge of watching the 'prep' on Wednesday afternoon, and was blown away the first time I saw the 3D demo... and have been blown away every time I've seen it since. Not to mention all the other goodness in Silverlight 5. Yes I hit 1000 on my blog, but more importantly, all of you are blogging and using Silverlight, and Microsoft hit one completely out of the park... no... they knocked it out of the neighborhood with the Firestarter. It was amazing to be there for it, and it will be awesome to use the new bits as we get them. Keep reading, there's tons more to come with Silverlight and SilverlightCream following along behind.   • Moving from Silverlight 4 Beta to RC - Part 1

    The other day I had finished up my Task-It Webinar, written a few blog posts, and knew the time had come to move from my Silverlight 4 Beta environment up to the latest RC (release candidate) bits that were released last Monday. What disappointed me when I went to the Silverlight 4 Information Page is that it told me what to install, but not what to uninstall first. Uninstalling I'm not entirely sure if I had to uninstall anything, or if installing the new stuff would just work, but in poking around the web I found posts stating that you must uninstall the following items first. Unfortunately I'm going by memory here and have not been able to find my way back to the magic page I found in the myriad of posts that I went through: Microsoft VisualStudio Beta 2 Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Extended (apparently this must be done *before* the next one) Microsoft .NET Framework Client Profile Microsoft Silverlight 4 Tools for Visual Studio 2010 WCF RIA Services Preview for Visual Studio 2010 While I was at it, I removed a bunch of other stuff, like Blend 3, Blend 4, the SDK's associated with them, and a bunch other stuff that was old. Of course, I didn't really want/need to keep any Silverlight 3 stuff around as I am developing Task-It in Silverlight 4. If I need a Silverlight 3 environment at some point I'll set it up in a virtual environment. NOTE: One thing that I did not uninstall is the Microsoft Silverlight 4 Toolkit November 2009. The reason is that they have not released the March version yet, so if you uninstall this, youll end up having to reinstall it. Installing OK, now that I had all of that old stuff off my machine, now it was time to get the new stuff. For this part I liked Tim Heuer's post, A Guide to What has Changed in Silverlight 4 RC better than the Silverlight 4 Information Page. VisualStudio 2010 RC - I installed Ultimate, but you may not need that version. No harm, it's free for now anyway. I downloaded the .exe and the 3 .rar files, then ran the .exe. I then extracted the contents of the ISO (using WinZip) to a new directory, and now had Setup.exe, a bunch of .cab files and some other assorted stuff. I simply ran Setup.exe and chose custom install (only because I wanted to uncheck Visual C++...I don't really have a need for that) Silverlight 4 Tools for Visual Studio 2010 - As mentioned in Tim's blog post, this installs this installs Silverlight developer runtime, SDK, tools, and this installs Silverlight developer runtime, SDK, tools, and WCF RIA Services.     I'm building an FTP client from scratch and I've noticed that the response codes aren't immediate (which is no surprise). What would be a good approach for getting the corresponding code to a command? Below is an example of the output of Filezilla server. The response code is the three digits near the end of each line.   • is it possible to turn off vdso on glibc side?

    I am aware that passing vdso=0 to kernel can turn this feature off, and that the dynamic linker in glibc can automatic detect and use vdso feature from kernel. Here I met with this problem. There is a RHEL 5.6 box (kernel 2.6.18-238.el5) in my institution where I only have a normal user access, probably suffering from RHEL bug 673616. As I compile a toolchain of linux-headers-3.9/gcc-4.7.2/glibc-2.17/binutils-2.23 on top of it, gcc bootstrap fails in cc1 in stage2 cannnot be run Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault. 0x00002aaaaaaca6eb in ?? Both cc1 and the test program can be run on another running RHEL 5.5 (kernel 2.6.18-194.26.1.el5) with gcc-4.7.2/glibc-2.17/binutils-2.23 as normal user. I cannot simply upgrade the box to a newer RHEL version, nor could I turn VDSO off via sysctl or proc. The question is, is there a way to compile glibc so that it turns off VDSO unconditionally?

  • Appending facts into an existing prolog file.

    Hi, I'm having trouble inserting facts into an existing prolog file, without overwriting the original contents. Suppose I have a file test.pl: :- dynamic born/2. born(john,london). born(tim,manchester). If I load this in prolog, and I assert more facts: | ?- assert(born(laura,kent)). yes I'm aware I can save this by doing: |?- tell('test.pl'),listing(born/2),told. Which works but test.pl now only contains the facts, not the ":- dynamic born/2": born(john,london). born(tim,manchester). born(laura,kent). This is problematic because if I reload this file, I won't be able to insert anymore facts into test.pl because ":- dynamic born/2." doesn't exist anymore. I read somewhere that, I could do: append('test.pl'),listing(born/2),told. which should just append to the end of the file, however, I get the following error: ! Existence error in user:append/1 ! procedure user:append/1 does not exist ! goal: user:append('test.pl') Btw, I'm using Sicstus prolog. Does this make a difference? Thanks!

    I'm using net.sf.json with a Java project and it works great. The conversion of this XML: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <important-data certified="true" processed="true"> <timestamp>232423423423</timestamp> <authors> <author> <firstName>Tim</firstName> <lastName>Leary</lastName> </author> </authors> <title>Flashbacks</title> <shippingWeight>1.4 pounds</shippingWeight> <isbn>978-0874778700</isbn> </important-data> converts to this in JSON: { "@certified": "true", "@processed": "true", "timestamp": "232423423423", "authors": [ { "firstName": "Tim", "lastName": "Leary" }], "title": "Flashbacks", "shippingWeight": "1.4 pounds", "isbn": "978-0874778700" } However, the root tag <important-data> is lost in the conversion. Being new to XML and JSON, I am not sure if this is suppose to be the correct behaviour. If not, is there any way to tell net.sf.json to convert it while keeping the root node property? Thanks.

  • Limit rate of outgoing UDP packets per second

    Hi, since Teamspeak version 3 sends lots of packets per user and our provider is getting problems with his infrastructure above 20.000 packets per second we have to limit it that our servers are not going to be shut down. Red a lot about iptables but was not able to find the right rules. Could you give me an advise how to manage that the server is not going to send more than 19k packets per seconds? We are running on debian 4 Thanks in Advance Tim
