  • java.lang.Void in C#?

    - by user313661
Hi, I am currently working with .Net 2.0 and have an interface whose generic type is used to define a method's return type. Something like interface IExecutor<T> { T Execute() { ... } } My problem is that some classes that implement this interface do not really need to return anything. In Java you can use java.lang.Void for this purpose, but after quite a bit of searching I found no equivalent in C#. More generically, I also did not find a good way around this problem. I tried to find how people would do this with delegates, but found nothing either - which makes me believe that the problem is that I suck at searching :) So what's the best way to solve this? How would you do it? Thanks!

  • Embedding .net remoting program in WEB

    - by flufferok
So, here is a deal. I have client-server application(dotNet remoting). Client side has few trackbars, checkboxes, buttons and picturebox. Server is a console application and does only calculation from client. Client's picturebox make some visualisation of calculation in picturebox. All calulations and relative classes are in dll file. Now I have to embed client application in web site. All kind of technologies are accepted, but I want to minimize forces applied to embedding. So, what is the best way to do embedding?

  • Java, filling arrays, and inheritance

    - by Arvanem
    Hi folks, I think I'm running into an inheritance conceptual wall with my Java arrays. I'm kind of new to Java so please tell me if I have things upside down. In essence, I want to do three things: Create a runnersArray with the attributes of my Runners class. Fill my runnersArray using my GenerateObjects method of my GenerateObjects class. Access the contents of my filled runnersArray in my Evaluating method of my Evaluating class. The problem seems to be that runnersArray is not visible to the methods in steps 2 and 3 above, but their classes (due to design reasons) cannot inherit or extend Runners class. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Here are some code snippets showing what I'm trying to do: public class Runners extends Party { Runners[] runnersArray = new Runners[5]; } and public class GenerateObject extends /* certain parent class */ { public GenerateObject (int arrayNum) { runnersArray[arrayNum] = /* certain Runners attributes */; } } and public class Evaluating extends /*certain parent class*/ { public Evaluating (int arrayNum) { System.out.println(/* String cast attribute of runnersArray[arrayNum]*/; } }

  • Python: Can subclasses overload inherited methods?

    - by Rosarch
I'm making a shopping cart app in Google App Engine. I have many classes that derive from a base handler: class BaseHandler(webapp.RequestHandler): def get(self, CSIN=None): self.body(CSIN) Does this mean that the body() method of every descendant class needs to have the same argument? This is cumbersome. Only one descendant actually uses that argument. And what about when I add new args? Do I need to go through and change every class? class Detail(BaseHandler): def body(self, CSIN): class MainPage(BaseHandler): def body(self, CSIN=None): #@UnusedVariable class Cart(BaseHandler): def body(self, CSIN): #@UnusedVariable

  • Debug Mode for CodeIgniter?

    - by nebukadnezzar
Does CodeIgniter provide a Debug Mode, for example, when accessing an Invalid URL? Ruby on Rails does show debugging Messages when a incorrect URL has been given, and the controller is unable to resolve it using the routes map. How would I enable such debugging messages in CodeIgniter? The profiler ... $this->output->enable_profiler(TRUE); ... only affects single classes, but not all routes. So debugging without an actual debugger mode is a little... difficult. :-)

  • c# binarysearch a list<T> by a member of T

    - by Pygmy
I have a baseclass Event with a DateTime member TimeStamp. Lots of other event-classes will derive from this. I want to be able to search a list of events (that can contain events with duplicate timestamps) fast, so I'd like to use a binary search. So I started out writing something like this : public class EventList<T> : List<T> where T : Event { private IComparer<T> comparer = (x, y) => Comparer<DateTime>.Default.Compare(x.TimeStamp, y.TimeStamp); public IEnumerable<T> EventsBetween(DateTime inFromTime, DateTime inToTime) { // Find the index for the beginning. int index = this.BinarySearch(inFromTime, comparer); // BLAH REST OF IMPLEMENTATION } } The problem is that the BinarySearch only accepts T (so - an Event type) as parameter, while I want to search based on a member of T - the TimeStamp. What would be a good way to approach this ?

  • Ninject with MembershipProvider | RoleProvider

    - by DVark
I'm using ninject as my IoC and I wrote a role provider as follows: public class BasicRoleProvider : RoleProvider { private IAuthenticationService authenticationService; public BasicRoleProvider(IAuthenticationService authenticationService) { if (authenticationService == null) throw new ArgumentNullException("authenticationService"); this.authenticationService = authenticationService; } /* Other methods here */ } I read that Provider classes get instantiated before ninject gets to inject the instance. How do I go around this? I currently have this ninject code: Bind<RoleProvider>().To<BasicRoleProvider>().InRequestScope(); From this answer here. If you mark your dependencies with [Inject] for your properties in your provider class, you can call kernel.Inject(MemberShip.Provider) - this will assign all dependencies to your properties. I do not understand this.

  • What's the difference between IEquatable and just overriding Object.Equals() ?

    - by devoured elysium
I want my Food class to be able to test whenever it is equal to another class. I will later use it against a List, and I want to use its List.Contains() method. Should I implement IEquatable or just override Object.Equals()? From MSDN: This method determines equality by using the default equality comparer, as defined by the object's implementation of the IEquatable.Equals method for T (the type of values in the list). So my next question is: which functions/classes of the .NET framework make use of Object.Equals()? Should I use it in the first place? Thanks

  • Handling inverted pixels in bitmapData and bitmap class in as3

    - by intoTHEwild
I am using bitmapData and bitmap classes to render a mouse cursor on the display screen. The bitmapData consists of an area whose colors should be inverted according to the background color. This is a very basic thing which could be observed with text cursor(the vertical line with two small horizontals on top and bottom), when moved over the text area. I want to be able to do the same with the pixels in my bitmapData, is there a way to find out the background color effectively and invert the color values? In this process i will be redrawing the whole pixels, is there any other efficient way to do that ?

  • Getting a Spring resource

    - by Javi
Hello, I'm trying to read a css file with the Resources provided by Spring. My application looks like this: src src/com herer my classes inside packages WebContent WebContent/resources/style/myCSS.css -- the css I want to read WebContent/WEB-INF -- here is my application-context.xml I can get the css and read it by doing something like this: UrlResource file = new UrlResource("http://localhost:8080/myApp/resources/style/myCSS.css"); but it depends on the server and aplication names. I've tried to do it by other implementations of Resource Interface, but the file is not found cause I can't find out how to wite the path. I've tried with this: FileSystemResource file = new FileSystemResource("/WebContent/resources/style/myCSS.css"); I also tried with wildcards, but it doesn't find the file either. ApplicationContext ctx = new FileSystemXmlApplicationContext("classpath*:/WEB-INF/application-context-core.xml"); Resource file = ctx.getResource("file:**/myCSS.css"); How should I write the path to get the css. Thanks.

  • linq to sql dynamic data modify object before insert and update

    - by Dan Tanner
I'm using Dynamic Data and LINQ to SQL for some admin pages on a .NET 3.5 web app. All my admin tables a CreatedBy, CreatedDate, UpdatedBy, and UpdatedDate. I'm looking for a way to inject the setting of these properties before the objects are inserted and updated. I've seen an object_inserting hook if you have a linq to sql datasource in the web form, but I'm using dynamic data...is there an easy way to generically set that? And I've also looked at modifying each of the partial classes for my admin objects, but the closest hook I see is to implement the OnValidate method with the Insert action. Any suggestions? TIA.

  • MyClass cannot be cast to java.lang.Comparable: java.lang.ClassCastException

    - by user2234225
I am doing a java project and I got this problem and don't know how to fix it. The classes in my project (simplified): public class Item { private String itemID; private Integer price; public Integer getPrice() { return this.price; } } public class Store { private String storeID; private String address; } public class Stock { private Item item; private Store store; private Integer itemCount; public Integer getInventoryValue() { return this.item.getPrice() * this.itemCount; } } Then I try to sort an ArrayList of Stock so I create another class called CompareByValue public class CompareByValue implements Comparator<Stock> { @Override public int compare(Stock stock1, Stock stock2) { return (stock1.getInventoryValue() - stock2.getInventoryValue()); } } When I try to run the program, it gives the error: Exception in thread "main" java.lang.ClassCastException: Stock cannot be cast to java.lang.Comparable Anyone know what's wrong?

  • Perform selector on parent NSOperation

    - by user326943
    I extend NSOperation (call it A) which contains NSOperationQueue for other NSOperations (which is another extended class different from A, call these operations B). When operation A is running (executing B operations) how do i call a specific function/method on operation A when certain event takes place on B operations? For example every operation B that finishes it calls a function on operation A returning itself? *Nested NSOperation and NSOperationQueue(s) Hope this mockup pseudo code can help to draw the picture. //My classes extended from NSOperation NSOperation ClassA NSOperation ClassB //MainApp -(void)applicationDidFinishLaunching:(NSNotification *)aNotification { ClassA A1; ClassA A2; NSOperationQueue Queue; Queue AddOperation: A1; Queue AddOperation: A2; } //Main of ClassA -(void)main { ClassB B1; ClassB B2; NSOperationQueue Queue; Queue AddOperation: B1; Queue AddOperation: B2; } //Main of ClassB -(void)main { //Do some work and when done call selector on ClassA above }

  • iPHone: Unit/Logic Tests initWithNibName

    - by pion
I have setup my Logic Tests following the instructions on http://developer.apple.com/iphone/library/documentation/Xcode/Conceptual/iphone_development/135-Unit_Testing_Applications/unit_testing_applications.html. I could test a couple classes successfully. But I got error when testing the following: - (id)init { if (self = [super initWithNibName:@"Foo" bundle:nil]) { ... } return self; } The error message is -[UIViewController _loadViewFromNibNamed:bundle:] was unable to load a nib named "Foo" My question: Did I do something wrong? Missed something? or I cannot test -initWithNibName using Logic Tests technique. Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Silverlight solution builds in VS2008 but fails with MSBuild

    - by Chris Nicola
I have a Silverlight solution that I want to create a build script for. I have a simple script that looks like this call "c:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\VC\bin\vcvars32.bat" msbuild %CD%\V1\Incentive.sln /target:Rebuild /property:Configuration=DEBUG;WarningLevel=2 msbuild %CD%\UI\IncentiveUI.sln /target:Rebuild /property:Configuration=DEBUG;WarningLevel=2 pause However when I run this I get a failure, with some complaints about classes that are in a project with linked files: http://pastebin.com/JRE3tWfh This solution compiles fine in VS2008 so I can't figure out what the problem is. I have to guess something is wrong with the way I am using msbuild here.

  • Templated Control databinding to custom properties

    - by Dan Wray
Is there some trick that I'm missing here? I've created a templated control, very simple. One single property on it, and I'd like to databind from the (viewmodel/datacontext of the) page in which it's hosted to a custom property on the control. The property will eventually be a vector type object, defining the position of the control, however in an attempt to get this to work I've tried reducing it to a basic string property. Each time I'm faced with "Set property 'SimpleGame.Classes.Sprite.Property' threw an exception.". I can't even catch the exception in a debug session, the set property code is not being executed. Do I need to use a dependency / attached property or something? I wouldn't have thought so...

  • Refactoring a C# derived class with method dependancies

    - by drelihan
Hi Folks, I want to get your opinion on this. I have a class which is derived from a base class. I don't have control over the code in the base class and it is critical to the system that I derive from it. In my class I inherite two methods that are critical to the system and are used in pretty much every function, many times. I intend to refactor this derived class and extract some classes from it - this won't be a problem. What I'm not sure about is, is it worth extracting class if I have to constantly make call backs to my main class to access the two methods (or public wrappers to the methods)??? Thanks

  • iPhones SDK: Setting a relationship property object using core data?

    - by Harkonian
I'm using core data in my app. I have two entities that are related: EntityA and EntityB. EntityA has a property of type "relationship" with EntityB. In addition, both of these entities are defined classes (not the default NSManagedObject). I'm inserting a new object into my data like this: EntityA *newEntityA = [NSEntityDescription insertNewObjectForEntityForName:@"EntityA" inManagedObjectContext:self.managedObjectContext]; newEntityA.name = @"some name"; newEntityA.entityB.name = @"some other name"; The problem is entityB.name is null. Even if I add an NSLog() statement right after assigning the value, it is null. What is the proper way of setting my "name" property of EntityB when EntityB is a property of EntityA?

  • AVDs that exist do not get listed in the "Target Tab"

    - by Abhi
I am using emulator Android 2.1 with Eclipse. For few days I had the emulator working ... was able to debug... I had 2 AVDs created and was using one of them. Earlier today I had to move my classes to a different package. Ever since I did that the configuration that I had has disappeared . So now I had to create configuration - I select Android Application and then click New - gave it a name TestPrjCfg - when I go to the "Target" tab - I see "No AVD available" but when I click manager I see two AVDs listed. I tired refresh in the "Target" tab - the existing AVDs do not show up. I used the Manager and created a third AVD that did not help either. Please let me know what am I missing here? What should I do so that the existing AVDs showup in the "Target" tab- Thank you for the time and effort abhi

I looked at both MethodContext and CompiledMethod classes but could not find out how to do it. Thank you.

  • To see javascript object properties and functions with intellisense in VS.NET 2008

    - by uzay95
    I am creating classes in external files.And adding them with <script src='../js/clsClassName.js' type='text/javascript'></script> tags. When i created an object from this class I can't access its props, and functions with intellisense. Is there any way to achieve this? Sample javascript class: // clsClassName.js function ClassName(_param1, _param2, _param3) { this.Prop1 = _param1; this.Prop1 = _param2; this.Prop3 = _param3; } ClassName.prototype.f_Add = function(fBefore, fSuccess, fComplete, fError) { } ClassName.prototype.f_Delete = function(fBefore, fSuccess, fComplete, fError) { } Any help would be greatly appreciated...

  • How do I convert PDF to HTML programmatically?

    - by SoaperGEM
Are there any classes, COM objects, command line utilities, or anything else that I can make an API for that can convert a PDF to an HTML document? Obviously the conversion might be a little rough since PDFs can contain a lot more than HTML can describe. I found a utility called pdftohtml on Source Forge, but quite honestly it does a horrible job with the conversion. I don't care if the software is free or commercial, but is there anything out there at all that I can incorporate with my own software to do this sort of conversion at least decently? I know Google's developed their own method of doing this, since you can click "View as HTML" on a PDF attached to an email through Gmail, but I was hoping there was something out available to the public. Remember, PDF to HTML. I'm NOT worried about HTML to PDF.

  • How to add a property to a module in boost::python?

    - by Checkers
You can add a property to a class using a getter and a setter (in a simplistic case): class<X>("X") .add_property("foo", &X::get_foo, &X::set_foo); But how to add a property to a module itself (not a class)? There is scope().attr("globalAttr") = ??? something ??? and def("globalAttr", ??? something ???); I can add global functions and objects of my class using the above two ways, but can't seem to add properties the same way as in classes.

  • optional local variables in rails partial templates: how do I get out of the (defined? foo) mess?

    - by brahn
I've been a bad kid and used the following syntax in my partial templates to set default values for local variables if a value wasn't explicitly defined in the :locals hash when rendering the partial -- <% foo = default_value unless (defined? foo) %> This seemed to work fine until recently, when (for no reason I could discern) non-passed variables started behaving as if they had been defined to nil (rather than undefined). As has been pointed by various helpful people on SO, http://api.rubyonrails.org/classes/ActionView/Base.html says not to use defined? foo and instead to use local_assigns.has_key? :foo I'm trying to amend my ways, but that means changing a lot of templates. Can/should I just charge ahead and make this change in all the templates? Is there any trickiness I need to watch for? How diligently do I need to test each one?

  • Vim OmniCppComplete on vectors of pointers

    - by Alex
Hi, I might have done something wrong in the set up but is OmniCppComplete supposed to provide the members/functions of classes when doing this? vectorofpointers[0]-> At the moment all I get when trying that are things relating to the vector class itself, which obviously isn't very useful. I think it might have been working before I tagged /usr/include/ but I could be wrong. Also, is it possible to disable the preview window? I find it just clutters up my workspace. And since I enabled ShowPrototypeInAbbr I don't really need it. Thanks, Alex
