• Java Trusting ssl CA

  I guess I am out of ideas here. I am trying to consume a web service in java which has an ssl certificate. I createt a a keystore file in which I have added the certificate. The file lies in my project folder. I imported it using: System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.keyStore", "folder\\keystore.jks"); System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.keyStorePassword", "SECRET"); Apparently, the web service call checks the keystore because when giving a wrong path to the file the application throws an exception when invoking the WS, not when setting the system property. Anyway, when giving the correct path to the keystore file, I still get AxisFault faultCode: {http://xml.apache.org/axis/}HTTP faultSubcode: faultString: (401)Authorization Required Someone told me I had to trust the CA, before any of this would work. How do I do this?

  I have written a number of applications for blackberry and am just starting in Android. It seems to me that android has a lot more built in functions. I am starting by recreating some of my BB apps on Android and on one I take a few xml sites and parse them out. On blackberry I implemented this by creating a class that extended a thread. I would construct a new instance of this class with the parameters of my http request and it would call a function back in my main class, sending it the results. I am tempted to reuse my code, but am curious if android has something better built in. I have been looking at the handler class as well as possible using a service. Bascially, I would like to start a new thread that will return a document of a specific url. Thanks!

  I'm trying to create a button in the application from one activity to another. The document resource/values/strings.xml created for this ID: <string name="button1name"> CID </ string> But the document GurovPictures.java (this is my main activity) when I insert a line: Button but1 = (Button) findViewById (R.id.button1); This "button1" does not become blue like "editText1". Do you happen to know how to fix it? Just the internet no entries found.

  I received a SSL cert to use for a Tomcat 6.0 server, ready to use. I configured Tomcat to use it with the following in server.xml: <Connector port="8443" maxThreads="200" scheme="https" secure="true" SSLEnabled="true" keystoreFile="C:\Tomcat 6.0\ssl\cert" keystorePass="*****" clientAuth="false" sslProtocol="TLS"/> I started Tomcat using the command prompt so I could see any error message as they happened. There were none. The results for accessing different URLS: http://localhost - normal page loads fine https://localhost - browser claims page cannot be found https://localhost:8443 - page cannot be found http://localhost:8443 - offers a certificate, after accepted redirects to https://localhost (I suspect the https:// urls initially offer the certificate which is automatically accepted by the browser, as it was issued by Verisign) How to fix? Edit: I've also tried port="443". Same result.

  Every time I try to get some information about my video files with ffmpeg, it pukes a lot of useless information mixed with good things. I'm using ffmpeg -i name_of_the_video.mpg. There are any possibilities to get that in a friendly way? I mean JSON would be great (and even ugly XML is fine). By now, I made my application parse the data with regex but there are lots of nasty corners that appear on some specific video files. I fixed all that I encountered, but there may be more.   I'd like to add a list of reviews of books to my Android app. Basically what I'm after is a fixed rating using the RatingBar and a ListView containing the snippet of the review for each review. Once clicked I want the list item to expand and fill with the text of the full review. I have the content of the snippet, full text, and rating, but don't know how best to go about the layout. Any ideas are ok, I don't need full code, but I would much prefer to keep it to XML layout.

  I've got an app with two themes (dark and light) that can be selected at runtime. This works. I also have a ListView with rows that can have one of three different layouts, each of which has a style (say, different colors). This also works. But I can't get these two features to work together. I really need six different styles, three for one theme (dark) and three for the other (light), but I can't figure out how to choose a style for a list item based on the current theme, or get that effect any other way by using XML files. My three layouts each point to a custom theme that sets the color, but that overrides whatever theme I've got set. Themes can only contain items that are "styleable", so I can't put my own custom items in there. There may be a way to do this programmatically, but I was hoping to do it declaratively. Any ideas?

  I have looked into the binaries produced by MSVC 2010 from my source code, and saw everything being filled with "junk". I don't know how to explain, but my executables are being added too much unnecessary information, like: Lots of Microsoft default error messages, I don't want them XML schema settings (Why!?) Other things not important for the execution of the main program How can I stop MSVC doing this? Do I have to switch to GCC? In all other programs (written in C++ too, from Word processors to games), this junk simply doesn't exist.

  TiddlyWiki is a great idea, brilliantly implemented. I'm using it as a portable personal "knowledge manager," and these are the prize virtues: It travels on my USB flash memory stick and runs on any computer, regardless of operating system No software installation is needed on the computer (TiddlyWiki merely uses the Internet browser) No Internet connection is needed In terms of data retrieval functionality, it mimics a relational database (use of tags and internal links) Let's say I've got a million words of prose in 4,000 tiddlers (posts). I'm still testing, but it looks like TiddlyWiki gets very slow. Is there an app like TiddlyWiki that keeps all the virtues I listed above, and allows more storage? NOTE: Separation of content and presentation would be ideal. It's nifty that TiddlyWiki has everything in a single HTML document, but it's unhelpful in many ways. I don't care if a directory of assorted docs is needed (SQLite, XML?), as long as it's functionally self-contained.

• Server 2012 DFS New Member Issue

  I am trying to add a new member to our DFS topology. We have 3 DCs (VMs - VMware) running Windows server 2012, two servers are located in or Primary site and the third at our DR site. Currently the two servers at our primary site are currently replicating DFS (full mesh) and are working fine. I have tried several times to add the third DC to our DFS topology, every time i configure the replication path e.g E:\MSI and click ok the MMC snap in crashes. • How to find and fix issue with Pound and HAProxy

  Pound sits in front of HAProxy (on the same box) to perform SSL off-load. Requests are passed to 127.0.0.1:80 where HAProxy then balances the requests across backend servers for a hosted ASP .NET web app. A user is getting HTTP error 500 (Internal Server Error) returned to their browser this morning and I can see it is comming from Pound. They see no log entry in their web app (IIS) server logs, so its not hitting the back end servers. I think the problem is possibly with HAProxy.
