• What are Windows code pages?

  I'm trying to gain a basic understanding of what is meant by a Windows code page. I kind of get the feeling it's a translation between a given 8 bit value and some 'abstraction' for a given character graphic. I made the following experiment. I created a "" character literal with two versions of the letter u with an umlaut. One created using the ALT 129 (uses code page 437) value and one using the ALT 0252 (uses code page 1252) value. When I examined the literal both characters had the value 252. Is 252 the universal 8 bit abstraction for u with an umlaut? Is it the Unicode value? Aside from keyboard input are there any library routines or system calls that use code pages? For example is there a function to translate a string using a given code table (as above for the ALT 129 value)?

• I need to Split a string based on a complex delimiter

  In C# I need to split a string (a log4j log file) into array elements based on a particular sequence of characters, namely "nnnn-nn-nn nn:nn:nn INFO". I'm currently splitting this log file up by newlines, which is fine except when the log statements themselves contain newlines. I don't control the input (the log file) so escaping them somehow is not an option. It seems like I should be able to use a comparator or a regex to identify the strings, but String.Split does not have an option like that. Am I stuck rolling my own, or is there a pattern or framework component that can be of help here?

I always held MS coders in fairly high regard and while I may not have agreed with all of their decisions, I always respected their reasoning. So - is there a good reason for code like this that I'm missing, or was this code extract just put together by a shitty developer? I'm hoping there is a good reason, and I'm just blindly missing it. To do this am trying, $("#cnty1").val(); and here is my dropdownlist,i.e., list of countries coming from Database table, <input select STYLE="width:90px;height:auto" id ="cnty1" data-bind="value:cnty1" name="cnty1" data-type="string" data-text-field="cnty" data-value-field="cntyid" data-source="sourcedata1" class="k-d" data-role="dropdownlist" /> <span data-for="cnty1" class="k-invalid-msg"></span> here cnty1 is the id of the dropdown list, but am not getting the value instead am getting "id" of the slected value but not the selected value. And also if the value is not selected am getting the first value id by using $("#cnty1").val(); So, please suggest me a solution so that, 1) I should get only the Selected value and 2) Value of the dropdown list Only if the user selects a value from the list, but don't get the value of the list without selecting.

Then, I added the report1 in visual basic 6.0 IDE and added a new form (form1) and a crystal report viewer control on form1. Now please help me: I wanna to show the report1. • Dividing a Video into Frames and Sending Frames to Streams

  I have to implement a "demux" that divides up a video stream and sends each frame to one of multiple output streams in a round-robin fashion. I am trying to implement the demux as follows. The video stream contains one frame after another and is implemented via a java InputStream. Each frame has a frame header followed by the image data. The demux needs to read the frame header to know the size of the image data. The image data can then be redirected from the input video stream to one of the output streams (java OutputStream). My problem is about how to implement this redirection. That is, connect the InputStream to the OutputStream to send N bytes (here N is the size of the image data), and then disconnect and connect to another OutputStream. I have seen the interface of PipedInputStream etc but they do not seem to implement the disconnection.

• MonoRail - Select parent category from one dropdown, show child category dropdown

  Hey, I'm new to MonoRail and am trying to figure out how to have it so that I can select a parent category in a dropdown then have it show a second dropdown with the categories that are children of the parent. If I were using what I'm used to, ASP.NET MVC, I would have a javascript function that would be called onchange of the first dropdown and would make an ajax call to a controller method (passing in the selected parent category id) that would grab all child categories of that parent category and return them in JSON. Then in the callback javascript function I would eval the JSON and populate the second dropdown with the child categories. How would I do this using MonoRail/jQuery?   I need to escape \n so on output I really get newline or tab $ perl -p -e 's/e/a/ge' now I want each e to be substituted with \n $ perl -p -e 's/e/\n/ge' but even \n gives me an error. this was a simplified example. In real script(makefile) I have substitute := perl -p -e 's/@([^@]+)@/defined $$ENV{$$1} ? $$ENV{$$1} : $$1/ge' and in target I have such a nice command $(substitute) $< > $@ and if the input file for perl contains \n at output I will see it literally... I want to have real newline.

  I'm trying to open local file from Silverlight. I try Window.Navigate("c:\test.pdf", "_blank") and invoking JavaScript like this: window.open("c:\test.pdf", "_blank") Both give "Access is denied". However it works in plain HTML when I do <input type="button" value="test" onclick="window.open('c:\test.pdf', '_blank')" /> Is it Silverlight security restriction? Can I open a local file in a browser from Silverlight application? The reason behind this is that users store local paths and want to open those files from the app.

  Hey guys sorry to be asking this kind noob question, but because I really need some guidance on how to use Multi probe LSH pretty urgently, so I did not do much research myself. I realize there is a lib call LSHKIT available that implemented that algorithm, but I have trouble trying to figure out how to use it. Right now, I have a few thousand feature vector 296 dimension, each representing an image. The vector is used to query an user input image, to retrieve the most similar image. The method I used to derive the distance between vector is euclidean distance. I know this might be a rather noob question, but do you guys have knowledge on how should i implement multi probe LSH? I am really very grateful to any answer or response.

  I am developing a WPF application that must run using Windows Classic theme. The application creates a dialog box containing a ListBox. When the dialog box is shown, it must be disabled for 1s before accepting any input. I am accomplishing this with a style trigger, and it works. However, the ListBox shows a white background when it's disabled, which I can't seem to get rid of. When using the aero theme, the following style resource fixes the issue: <SolidColorBrush x:Key="{x:Static SystemColors.ControlBrushKey}" Color="Transparent"/> But when using Windows Classic theme, the white background reappears. How can i remedy the situation for Classic theme???

  When I do validate the page in W3 validation, I got few errors with below code, <input type="image" name="Google Checkout" alt="Fast checkout through Google" src="https://sandbox.google.com/checkout/buttons/checkout.gif?merchant_id=xxxxxxxxx&w=168&h=44&style=white&variant=text&loc=en_US" / Errors are as follows, 1.cannot generate system identifier for general entity "w" 2.reference to entity "w" for which no system identifier could be generated 3.general entity "h" not defined and no default entity 4.reference to entity "h" for which no system identifier could be generated 5.general entity "style" not defined and no default entity 6.reference to entity "style" for which no system identifier could be generated 7.general entity "variant" not defined and no default entity 8.reference to entity "variant" for which no system identifier could be generated 9.general entity "loc" not defined and no default entity 10.reference to entity "loc" for which no system identifier could be generated This is the only errors comes from the URL; is there way to pass W3 validation for this URL.

  Here's the story... I have a jQuery function that does something, this function is referenced very regularly. One of the input parameters is an array, this array data is hard coded and thus I want to pass the data like this: (this is how I would do it using PHP) myFunction(Array("1"=>"a","2"=>"b","3"=>"c")); Instead of $arr=Array("1"=>"a","2"=>"b","3"=>"c"); myFunction($arr); So how do I achieve this with my jQuery function, I want this to be a one liner if possible.

  I'm having trouble reading special characters from stdin. Here are my attempts: import os dir = raw_input("Dir name: ") Dir name: c:/á os.chdir(dir) WindowsError: [Error 2] The system cannot find the file specified: 'c:/\x81\xe1' Ok, so I tried to get the default system encoding and recode the string from stdin: import locale encoding = locale.getdefaultlocale()[1] print encoding cp1252 unicode(dir, encoding) Traceback (most recent call last): File "<stdin>", line 1, in <module> File "c:\Python26\lib\encodings\cp1252.py", line 15, in decode return codecs.charmap_decode(input,errors,decoding_table) UnicodeDecodeError: 'charmap' codec can't decode byte 0x81 in position 3: character maps to <undefined> Now, I don't know how to solve this. Nor can I understand - why is there a problem when I try to access a directory with a name written in the system default encoding itself??

  We have some legacy software which depends on sending keystrokes to a DOS window and then scraping the screen. I am trying to re-create the software by redirecting the input and output streams of the process directly to my application. This part I have managed fine using: _Process = new Process(); { _Process.StartInfo.FileName = APPLICATION; _Process.StartInfo.RedirectStandardOutput = true; _Process.StartInfo.RedirectStandardInput = true; _Process.StartInfo.RedirectStandardError = true; _Process.StartInfo.UseShellExecute = false; _Process.StartInfo.CreateNoWindow = true; _Process.OutputDataReceived += new DataReceivedEventHandler(_Process_OutputDataReceived); _Process.ErrorDataReceived += new DataReceivedEventHandler(_Process_ErrorDataReceived); } My problem is I need to send some command modifiers such as Ctrl, ALT and Space as well as F1-12 to this process but am unsure how. I can send basic text and I receive response's fine. I just need to emulate these modifiers.

• Regex to find external links from the html file using grep

  hello, From past few days I'm trying to develop a regex that fetch all the external links from the web pages given to it using grep. Here is my grep command grep -h -o -e "\(\(mailto:\|\(\(ht\|f\)tp\(s\?\)\)\)\://\)\{1\}\(.*\?\)" "/mnt/websites_folder/folder_to_search" -r now the grep seem to return everything after the external links in that given line Example if an html file contain something like this on same line GoogleYahoo then the given grep command return the following result http://www.google.com">Google</a><p><a href='https://yahoo.com'>Yahoo</a></p> the idea here is that if an html file contain more than one links(`irrespective in a,img etc`) in same line then the regex should fetch only the links and not all content of that line I managed to developed the same in rubular.com the regex is as follow ("|')(\b((ht|f)tps?:\/\/)(.*?)\b)("|') with work with the above input but iam not able to replicate the same in grep can anyone help I can't modify the html file so don't ask me to do that neither I can look for each specific tags and check their attributes to to get external links as it addup processing time and my application doesn't demand that Thank You

• XCode 3.2 - can't create Objective-C class

  My installation of XCode 3.2 has begun to exhibit some strange behaviour. When I try to add a basic Objective-C classs (inheriting from NSObject), in my iPhone project, I get the following popup: "Alert. Couldn't load the next page". The above-mentioned error happens at the point of trying to create the file (i.e. the creation process doesn't get to the stage where you are asked to input the file name). It might also be worth mentioning that where there previously used to be a description for the file (in the file creation window) it now states "No description available". I can create other files (e.g. UIViewController subclass etc.) but not the basic Objective-C class. I have updated the documentation and restarted the machine and xcode several times without success. I would be extremely grateful for any assistance as I am relatively new to the XCode environment.
