  • Accessing RequestContext from with my MembershipProvider

    - by ScottSEA
    Is there an easier/better way to access the RequestContext from within a custom Membership Provider than the following (and further, will this method even work): private static RequestContext GetRequestContext() { HttpContextBase contextBase = new HttpContextWrapper(HttpContext.Current); return new RequestContext( contextBase, RouteTable.Routes.GetRouteData(contextBase)); }

  • Percentage function for a group based on another group.

    - by Jeff O
I have two grouping levels in a report. Group A can have a Percentage() of the entire report and so can Group B, but I would like to know the Percentage() of Group A of Group B. Even if I code it, it seems like once the inner and outer groups have created their footers, I can't go back to to the inner group and set it's value. Example: Group A Total 50 Group A percentage of Report Total = 33% Group A Percentage of Group B Total = 33% but I want 50% Group B Total 100 Group B Percentage of Report Total = 66% Report Total 150

  • Cocoa WebView won't render all images on OSX 10.8

    - by user2906962
I'm currently developing an application for OS X, backwards compatible with OS X 10.6. At some point I create a WebView in which I load html content that I create dynamically. The html content is formed only of image links <img src= and text, there is no javascript or anything of that kind. All the images (there are only 5 png images) are stored locally and their size is 4 KB. The problem I have is that some images (those that are not on the visible side of the "scroll"), the very first time I run the application, the images are not shown unless I drag the window to another screen or load again the view controller that contains the WebView. In those cases the images appear on the "scroll" even if they are offsite. I've tried creating the WebView both with IB and programatically, I've used WebPreferences like Autosaves, AllowsAnimatedImages … I've tried using NSURLCache to load each image so that the WebView will get access to them easier ... same result. Taking into account that my code is quite extensive I'm gonna post only the bits that I think are relevant: NSString *finalHtml ... //contains the complete html CGRect screenRect = [self.fixedView bounds]; CGRect webFrame = CGRectMake(0.0f, 0.0f, screenRect.size.width, screenRect.size.height); self.miwebView=[[WebView alloc] initWithFrame:webFrame]; [self.miwebView setEditable:NO]; [self.miwebView setUIDelegate:self]; ... NSURLCache *URLCache = [[NSURLCache alloc] initWithMemoryCapacity:4 * 1024 * 1024 diskCapacity:20 * 1024 * 1024 diskPath:nil]; [NSURLCache setSharedURLCache:URLCache]; NSString *imagePath = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"line" ofType:@"png"]; NSURL *resourceUrl = [NSURL URLWithString:imagePath]; NSURLRequest *request = [NSURLRequest requestWithURL:resourceUrl cachePolicy:NSURLRequestUseProtocolCachePolicy timeoutInterval:10.0f]; [URLCache cachedResponseForRequest:request]; ... [self.miwebView setResourceLoadDelegate:self]; WebPreferences *webPref = [[WebPreferences alloc]init]; [webPref setAutosaves:YES]; [webPref setAllowsAnimatedImages:YES]; [webPref setAllowsAnimatedImageLooping:YES]; [self.miwebView setPreferences:webPref]; NSString *pathResult = [[NSBundle mainBundle] bundlePath]; NSURL *baseURLRes = [NSURL fileURLWithPath:pathResult]; [[self.miwebView mainFrame] loadHTMLString:finalHtml baseURL:baseURLRes]; [self.fixedView addSubview:self.miwebView]; I should also mention that if an image is caught somewhere in between the visible and non visible side of the "scroll" only the visible bit of the image is going to be rendered even if the page gets scrolled up ... so I think all this is some rendering issue ... I appreciate your help, thank you!

  • How do I detect bots programatically

    - by Tom
we have a situation where we log visits and visitors on page hits and bots are clogging up our database. We can't use captcha or other techniques like that because this is before we even ask for human input, basically we are logging page hits and we would like to only log page hits by humans. Is there a list of known bot IP out there? Does checking known bot user-agents work?

  • jQuery selector .not() NOT working

    - by Niko M.
I've built a jQuery selector for a function which looks like this: $('html').not('.table-main tr[selected]').mousedown( function( e ) { But somehow it is not filtering at all and i do not quite understand why. Even if i just leave ('.table-main') for the selector i still trigger the function when clicking into the table... What is wrong with that? Using document or 'body' instead of 'html' does not help, as document is not triggering at all with .not() and 'body' results in the same.

  • Authentication mechanism comparison

    - by Heavy Bytes
I have to start a new project where user authentication/management will be required. A lot of websites use existing authentication mechanisms like facebook/twitter/openID/google/etc (even SO). While I might understand that they are used to simplify some parts of this workflow can someone enumerate the pluses and minuses of using one of these authentication mechanisms vs. an usual user creation and what should I look for when I do this? Thanks in advance!

  • Recreating the Apple Store's summary that moves with the page scrolling

    - by Darryl Hein
I'm looking to create something like what Apple has on their online store for displaying the summary of your computer and total as seen here. I'm guessing this is JavaScript, but it'd be even cooler if it could be done in CSS. Basically I'd like something scrolls with the page like position:fixed, but I don't want it to start moving until the user has scroll past a certain position. I'm using jQuery, so a jQuery plugin would be perfect as well.

  • jQuery slideToggle - when div is toggled it pushes content out of viewable area (IE)

    - by Chris
This is an annoying ocurrance in IE when I use the jQuery slideToggle effect. Without the div being open, page looks normal. The minute I toggle the div open, it extends past the current content, overtop of the footer, and out of the viewable browser area (Even after scrolling all the way down). This feature seems to work just fine in firefox. Do I need an additional hack or CSS to make it work in IE8?

  • Why is the CLR's jmp instruction unverifiable?

    - by naasking
The title says it all. I've known about the jmp instruction for awhile, but it never struck me as being even remotely unsafe. I recently had cause to check the CIL specs and was very surprised to discover jmp is considered unverifiable. Any explanations would be much appreciated.

  • Which work process in my company should I Improve first?

    - by shoren
I've just started to work in a new place, and I see several things they do that I find really terrible, and I want to know if they are indeed so wrong, or I am just too strict. Please let me know if my criticism is in place, and your opinion on which problem is the worst and should be fixed first. The developement is all in Java. 1) Not using svnignore. This means svn stat can't be used, and developers forget to add files and break the build. 2) Generated files go to same folders as committed files. Can't use simple maven clean, have to find them one by one. Maven clean doesn't remove all of them. 3) Not fixing IDE analyze warnings. Analyze code returns about 5,000 warning, of many different kinds. 4) Not following conventions: spring beans names sometimes start with uppercase and sometimes not, ant properties sometimes with underline and sometimes with dots delimiter, etc. 5) Incremental build takes 6 minutes, even when nothing is changed. 6) Developers only use remote debug, and don't know how to run the Tomcat server internally from the IDE. 7) Developers always restart the server after every compilation, instead of dynamically reloading the class and saving the server's state. It takes them at least 10 minutes to start checking any change in the code. 8) Developers only compile from command line. When there are compilation errors, they manually open the file and go the the problematic line. 9) A complete mess in project dependencies. Over 200 open sources are depended on, and no one knows what is indeed needed and why. They do know that not all dependencies are necessary. 10) Mixing Maven and Ant in a way that disables the benefits of both. In one case, even dependency checks are not done by Maven. 11) Not using generics properly. 12) Developers don't use Subversion integration with IDE (Eclipse, Intellij Idea). What do you think? Where should I start? Is any of the things I mentioned not really a problem?

  • vb.net how to check for changes in folder upon application start?

    - by Luay
while the application is running i'm using FileSystemWatcher to monitor the folder. But what if there are changes to the folder when the application is not running, how can I check for these changes when the application starts. (similar to how windows media player, for example, monitors your music folder. Even when you add songs to that folder when it is not running, it does discover them when it runs next time) Thanks

  • Is ctrl-s save universal for save or are there different combinations for different languages

    - by aepheus
I imagine that there are different combination, just looking for an affirmation. Or, are we developers really that english-centric? If I were in japan, using a word processor on some computer, would ctrl-s save? Are there keyboards where ctrl-s doesn't even exist (non-english keyboards)? Most of what I've seen usually has latin + [insert language here] characters, usually overridden on the normal qwerty keyboard.

  • using # instead of . in API documentation

    - by landon9720
In API documentation, and sometimes even used in discussions here on Stack Overflow, I sometimes see the pound (#) character used instead of the dot (.) as the separator between the class name and the method name. For example: Settings#maxPageSize I'm wondering what this usage means, and where it comes from?

  • Codeignitor index.php breaking image paths

    - by BeatAlex
When I don't edit my .htaccess file, my image path reads something like: http://this.website.com/codeigniter/inc/images/logo.jpg. However, as soon as I add this code into the .htaccess file: RewriteEngine On RewriteCond $1 !^(index\.php) RewriteRule ^(.+)$ index.php?$1 [L] (to remove the index.php from the URL), I get 404 error, even with the exact same path. How do I remove index.php and still have access to my images?
