  • Authlogic Help! Registering a new user when currently logged-in as a user not working.

    Hi Just as a disclaimer I am new to rails and programming in general so apologize for misunderstanding something obvious. I have Authlogic with activation up and running. So for my site I would like my users who are logged in to be able to register other users. The new user would pick their login and password through the activation email, but the existing user needs to put them in by email, position and a couple other attributes. I want that to be done by the existing user. The problem I am running into, if I am logged in and then try and create a new user it just tries to update the existing user and doesn't create a new one. I am not sure if there is some way to fix this by having another session start??? If that is even right/possible I wouldn't know how to go about implementing it. I realize without knowing fully about my application it may be difficult to answer this, but does this even sound like the right way to go about this? Am I missing something here?   • [self removeFromSuperview] not doing dealloc

    i have this in the superview: mySubView = [[MySubView alloc] init]; [self addSubview:mySubView]; [mySubView release]; then at some point later, in the sub view, this: [self removeFromSuperview]; when i debug it, i notice that the dealloc for the subview is never called, even though i'm fairly sure the reference count should be 0. any ideas why this might be? thanks.

I have a few "roles" that I have access to through stored procedure calls I don't control, read-only, via a CRM I don't have direct access to. Unfortunately, I can't find the method AddRole, or even the class UserItem, by its present name. Does this functionality exist in Sitecore 6.2? If so, where is it?

  • deploying project to tomcat ROOT

    I have deployed my project to tomcat root, and it works fine without any problem. To acheive this I created a ROOT file TOMCAT_HOME/conf/Catalina/localhost/ROOT.xml with content below: <Context docBase="/home/user/project.war" path="" reloadable="true" /> So right now I can see my project under localhost:8080/ without any problem.. but I don't know where my project has been extracted, there is even no ROOT directory under TOMCAT_HOME/webapps, any idea?

    g++ compiler complains about conversions between relative types (from int to enum, from void* to class*, from const char* to unsigned char*, etc.). Compiler handles such convertions as errors and won't compile furthermore. It occurs only when I compile using Dev-C++ IDE, but when I compile the same code (using the compiler which Dev-C++ uses) such errors (even warnings) do not appears. How to mute errors of such types?

    Hi im having a few problems rotating a string, i found that you need graphics.rotate() but when i change the rotation, i cannot even see the string. It appears the pivot point has completely thrown me. Also i saw an example with transform but i decided i did not need this? If my string was a graph label, reading top to bottom and i needed to rotate it 180 degrees so that it read bottom to top, how would i do this? Thanks in advance

    I have some xml files with figure spaces in it, I need to remove those with php. The utf-8 code for these is e2 80 a9. If I'm not mistaken php does not seem to like 6 byte utf-8 chars, so far at least I'm unable to find a way to delete the figure spaces with functions like preg_replace. Anybody any tips or even better a solution to this problem?

    We have an WPF Application build on .net framework 3.5. Some testers find if they uninstall .net framework 3.5, but install .net framework 4.0, our APP fails to launch itself. Dose this mean that .net framework 4.0 does not include all 3.5 libs, and users have to install .net 3.5 even though they have 4.0? I see here are some migration issues listed by Microsoft http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee941656.aspx#windows_presentation_foundation_wpf Are they all breaking changes so that the backward compatibility is ruined?     I need to supply "Source code documents w/ Line numbers" which is essentially just a PDF of the source code with syntax highlighting and Line numbers. Is there any existing command line tools for windows that I could call from a script as a "build release version" script? Right now I'm doing it manually using VC++, which isn't even the dev enviroment the code is for a TI processor, and a PDF printer driver, which has a pop up for each file I print.

  • In 2011 is it truly necessary to still degrade js?

    Serious question. I tried most of the famous websites (including facebook) and I can say that tons of functionality doesn't degrade at all with js disabled. I've been always told that js should degrade gracefully, but does this still applies in these day and age? ie6 support is being dropped by several sites, and most of the web2.0 relies heavily on js (especially ajax, I even found some sites that doesn't let you login without js enabled). What are your thought about it?

    In most MVC based framework I see a router object. If I look at it splits up the uri and decides what controller should be used, and which action should be fired. Even though this makes a lot of sense, I can not give this a place in the MVC patern. Is splitting up the uri not the job of the controller. And then the controller should just decide which class and function to run.
