  • vmware certified professional exam

    Has anyone taken the vmware certified professional exam? I was wondering if I can just take this class: http://mylearn1.vmware.com/mgrreg/courses.cfm?ui=www&a=one&id_subject=10103 or would I need to do additional studying on my own? I'm a developer with limited server experience. I'm aware of the technologies but haven't worked with them directly. Anyone that has taken the exam or has been in a similar situation, any insight would be appreciated.

  • Implementing Communication Protocols on CC2420 motes powered by TinyOS

    I would like to load TinyOS on CC2420 radio motes to operate on certain communication protocols (e.g. epidemic routing, probabilistic routing, etc.). However, I have no prior experience in programming motes to perform the protocols I want. I'm just wondering about the most applicable resources for reference and how difficult (if not impossible) was implementing such mentioned protocols. It would be great to hear from you.     For any given type i want to know its default value. In C#, there is a keyword called default for doing this like object obj = default(Decimal); but I have an instance of Type (called myType) and if I say this, object obj = default(myType); it doesn't work Is there any good way of doing this? I know that a huge switch block will work but thats not a good choice.

    Hi, I've got a problem with OpenVZ with bridged VLAN. I don't have any switch so no problem with unmanageable switch. I've configured a VLAN interface on OpenBSD in /etc/hostname.vlan110: inet 192.168.110.254 255.255.255.0 NONE vlan 110 vlandev sis1 And it seems to be working fine. I've also adapted my PF configuration to work with VLAN but I don't see any incoming traffic.   • Good SMTP server on Windows for a production server

    I'm going to have my website hosted soon on a VPS or dedicated server (with Windows 2008), so I'm trying to plan ahead. I wonder whether the built-in SMTP server that comes with IIS7 is reliable enough for a production server or should I look for an alternative? I heard good things about hmailserver and best of all it's free, do you have any experience with using the bulit-in SMTP on a high traffic website. Thanks a lot for any suggestions

(RuntimeError) and RMagick2.so is blank. and identify --version command shows following result Version: ImageMagick 6.6.1-10 2010-05-21 Q8 http://www.imagemagick.org So, my question is how and where should i make changes to work it fine; I had already reinstall ImageMagick but didnt work for me, so any suggestions Thanks in advance

  • Profiling short-lived Java applications

    Is there any Java profiler that allows profiling short-lived applications? The profilers I found so far seem to work with applications that keep running until user termination. However, I want to profile applications that work like command-line utilities, it runs and exits immediately. Tools like visualvm or NetBeans Profiler do not even recognize that the application was ran. I am looking for something similar to Python's cProfile, in that the profiler result is returned when the application exits.

  • CD/DVD Drive not detecting locally burned CD/DVDs, but works fine with Genuine discs.

    I'm using Dell Inspiron 1420 - 32 Bit - Windows Vista, since 2.5 years. I'm facing a strange problem with my CD/DVD-drive. I cannot run/play a CD/DVD which I get burned from my friends. But when I insert Genuine CD, I'm able to play/run it. And when I try to install my Vista package which I got with my notebook, the CD/DVD gets loaded. If I insert a CD/DVD which I get from my friend, CD doesn't get loaded and the system gets hanged. But all these CDs/DVDs work on other systems. I've tested it on many of my friends PCs. So, now I'm able to run only genuine CDs & a few genuine DVDs. My Experience/Experiments: I tried to install Windows Vista using Genuine DVD - It worked I tried to install Ubuntu which I got from shipped from Canonical Ltd. - It worked I tried to install OpenSUSE .iso file burned to a DVD in my friend's PC - It didn't work for me (But working perfectly fine in my friends PCs(Tested in 4 other PCs) Tried to play a DVD containing movies, burned in my friend's PC - It didn't work for me (But working perfectly fine in my friends PCs Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.   • Administrative shares in Windows 7 Pro not visible

    My desktop machine has a clean install of Windows 7 Professional. For some reason the standard administrative shares Admin$, C$, D$, etc are not visible, either in Computer Management - Shared Folders - Shares or via net share. I also have a laptop with a clean install of Windows 7 Professional, and I can see the admin shares in both places. As such, I can map to \\laptop\c$ from the desktop, but I can't map to \\desktop\c$ from the laptop. I pretty much took the defaults during the Windows 7 installations. I've tried adding LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy to the registry on the desktop, but that didn't work. On the desktop I've also disabled UAC, turned off Windows firewall, removed it from a homegroup, made sure file and printer sharing is turned on, but nothing has worked. There is some subtle difference between the two machines that I can't seem to find. I'm logging into both machines using a local account that is in the Administrators group. Both accounts have the same name and password. I really don't want to have to create a new share for the desktop's C drive, especially since C$ is visible and working on the laptop and therefore I should be able to make it work on the desktop. Any idea why the admin shares would work on one machine and not another? Or why LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy would fail?

I was thinking of launching a WCF service that check with my license DB if it's a valid license and if it is, send a True. If the returned response is False, then shut down the program after telling them to fix their license. Do you think this is a good way to handle it?

  • Windows 7 search does not return results from indexed folders

    I am experiencing this issue over and over again and I just cannot seem to find the answer. It doesn't make sense, but search simply does not return results from folders that certainly have these files inside. It's weird that this technology exists for more than 5 years now (it could be added to Windows XP as an addon), and they still haven't got it right. My folder contains 10 image files with .png extensions. Two scenarios: Scenario 1: I exclude the folder using Indexing options. Search works. Scenario 2: I turn on indexing for this folder. Search does not work. Of course, Agent Ransack returns results every time. When I check Advanced options for the Indexing options inside control panel, .png files are checked in the File Types tab, using the "File Properties filter". What's the deal with this? [Edit] To clarify, this doesn't happen with all folders, but does with more than one. For the "problematic" folders, even *.* doesn't return a single result. I found some advice to clear the archive and readonly attributes for all files (doesn't make sense, but hey), but it didn't work. Indexing status in Control panel is: Indexing complete. 100,000 items indexed. Folder is included in the list. File types list contains the .png extension (although it doesn't work with any filter, not even *.*).
