  • Find maximum positive integer value in Bourne Shell

    - by l0b0
I'm checking a counter in a loop to determine if it's larger than some maximum, if specified in an optional parameter. Since it's optional, I can either default the maximum to a special value or to the maximum possible integer. The first option would require an extra check at each iteration, so I'd like to instead find out what is the maximum integer that will work with the -gt Bourne Shell operation.

  • Can a native-looking GUI be made with Python

    - by Matt
I haven't gotten far enough into Python to make GUIs yet, so I thought I'd ask here. Can a python app be made with the windows default style GUI, or will it have its own style? The only screenshots I've seen of a python app running with a GUI had this ugly win95 look to it.

  • NetBeans Java code formatter: logical operators on new line

    - by mizipzor
My code looks like this: if (firstCondition() && secondCondition()) { // ... code } The default settings for the code formatter in NetBeans wants to put the && on a new line, like this: if (firstCondition() && secondCondition()) { // ... code } The formatter works well so I would just like to find the setting so it doesnt change the code to the latter. Whats the setting called?

  • How do I access the ApplicationSettings section from another assembly?

    - by Calanus
I have a dll that is referenced by the parent (executing) assembly. In the ApplicationSettings section of the app.config for the parent assembly I have some settings that can be accessed in the normal intellisense manner (e.g. Properties.Settings.Default.SMTPServer). How do I access these settings from the referenced dll? I obviously can't use intellisense as they are not in the same assembly!

  • ASP.NET MVC: MetaTags; setting methodology, best practices

    - by MVCDummy09
When I created a default MVC application in VS2K10, the master view (Site.Master) had a ContentPlaceHolder for the <title> tag. Is there a better way to set metatags like title and description than using a ContentPlaceHolder in the master and setting that ContentPlaceHolder's value in each view? How do you configure your views' metatags in a large-scale site with dozens and dozens of pages?

  • What should a Django user know when moving from MySQL to PostgreSQL?

    - by tmitchell
Most of my experience with Django thus far has been with MySQL and mysqldb. For a new app I'm writing, I'm dipping my toe in the PostgreSQL water, now that I have seen the light. While writing a data import script, I stumbled upon an issue with the default autocommit behavior. I would guess there are other "gotchas" that might crop up. What else should I be on the lookout for?

    - by Daveo
    I want to have site wide default settings for all jQuery validation uses on my site, I want every form to use the below settings, but then on a per form basis change the rules and messages. Is this possible? $('#myForm').validate({ errorClass: 'field-validation-error', errorElement: 'span', errorPlacement: function(error, element) { element.next('span').remove(); error.insertAfter( element ) .removeClass('field-validation-error') .addClass('ui-state-error'); }, success: function(label) { label.remove(); } });

  • Is there a free (LGPL compatible) Grid plugin for jQuery that has similiar capabilities to the Ext-J

    - by Ehrann Mehdan
One of the most appealing features of Ext-JS is the Grid control in my opinion. I was searching for something free that does something close and have set my hopes on jQuery. I haven't found a jQuery (or other LGPL compatible) Table / Grid plugin that allows to: Reorder columns by dragging Resize columns by dragging Add or Remove columns on the fly Have a default good looking UI (subjective, but Ext-JS look I think is a concensus) In addition to the rest most grid controls have (Sort, Paging etc) Is there a free (LGPL) jQuery plugin that does the above?

  • Is it possible to create your own custom locale

    - by smerlin
Since Windows doesnt have a C++ locale with UTF8 support by default, i would like to construct a custom locale object which supports UTF8 (by creating it with a custom ctype facet). How can i construct a locale object with a my own ctype implementation (i only found functions to construct a locale using an already existing locale as base..) If C++ does not support construction of locales with a custom ctype facet at all, why is that so ?

  • Classloading order in JBoss

    - by Spiderman
I'd like to know if the default behavior of JBoss server (4.2.3.GA in my case) is loading the classes in parent-first or parent-last mode. And in case it work as I suspect in parent-last mode (i.e. first trying to load classes from the application's WEB-INF/lib and only if they are not found go to server\lib), how can I configure it to work in the opposite- first trying to load classes from outside and only looking inside the application afterwards.

  • += new EventHandler(Method) vs += Method

    - by mafutrct
There are two basic ways to subscribe to an event: SomeEvent += new EventHandler<ArgType> (MyHandlerMethod); SomeEvent += MyHandlerMethod; What is the difference, and when should I chose one over the other? Edit: If it is the same, then why does VS default to the long version, cluttering the code? That makes no sense at all to me.

  • Operator Overloading in C

    - by Leif Andersen
In C++, I can change the operator on a specific class by doing something like this: MyClass::operator==/*Or some other operator such as =, >, etc.*/(Const MyClass rhs) { /* Do Stuff*/; } But with there being no classes (built in by default) in C. So, how could I do operator overloading for just general functions? For example, if I remember correctly, importing stdlib.h gives you the - operator, which is just syntactic sugar for (*strcut_name).struct_element. So how can I do this in C? Thank you.

What is going wrong?

  • PEAR/PHPUnit installation on shared hosting

    - by Sergei Morozov
I’ve installed a local (per-account) PEAR instance on shared web-hosting. After that I’ve installed PHPUnit. It doesn’t work in command-line mode because PHPUnit classes are not under default include_path that is ".:/usr/local/lib/php". The same, I think, would happen with local phing and other command-line tools installed via PEAR. Is there a way to specify per-account include_path value that will contain my local PEAR path "~/pear/php"?

  • WCF service for receiving image

    - by elgrego
What is the best way to create a webservice for accepting an image. The image might be quite big and I do not want to change the default receive size for the web application. I have written one that accepts a binary image but that I feel that there has to be a better alternative.
