I have purchased Windows 7 Ultimate with two DVDs 32 bit & 64 bit with one key. I wish to try 32 bit first & 64 bit later. Can i use same key for 64 bit software later on same computer?
Hello,
By luck do you know a software on Windows (Vista) which can easily split a big folder (and its contents) into several small new folders ?
notes:
the new small folders should be independent
the "file splitter" that I have already tested don't do alas the "folder splitter" job ! ;(
Example :
I have a main big folder
C:\big\ (size: about 3Go)
The result I need :
C:\big01\ (size: about 200MB)
C:\big02\ (size: about 200MB)
etc...
Thanks in advance ;)
These are my requirements:
Can support latest DirectX/OpenGL standards
Dual DVI output required
Less than $100
Does not need to excel at gaming
Does need to provide hardware acceleration for Windows 7 and Visual Studio 2010 via WPF.
Bonus points:
Supported in OSx86 land.
Quiet and low power.
I tend to lean towards nvidia because I'm used to their drivers and their software (nview, etc.)
What is the best way to backup windows SQL, Exchange or AD servers data to?
NAS, external USB , iSCSI or perhaps some other backup solution?
I will not however be considering cloud backup solutions due to bandwidth restrictions and cost.
Currently I find NAS devices to give the best results but clients that do not have the budget for backup software use Windows Server Backup but then they can make only 1 backup to a NAS at a time.
I'm searching for an application which reports that the computer is running. I imagine it in the form of two piece software. the first part, some kind of dashboard with list of active IPs, is on the server and awaits for information from remote hosts, the second part will be on clients and it will be reporting that client is working.
Do you know something like this, I'm searching for free application that is lightweight and does not require installation.
Where can I SPECIFICALLY find a place that sells TOSHIBA QOSMIO F30 videocards?
I need to replace mine for the 3rd time.
Two video cards have blown out before because I had a fault, NVIDIA video card software driver installed that they had too many compliants that it was telling the fan that keeps the video card cool to stop working. I had finally discovered why my video cards were blowing out after the 3rd time.
So again, please my people, where can i specifically find one?
What is a good free Windows XP tool to monitor my computer's sensors such as its temperature, fan peed, and hard disk diagnostics?
I think I remember there being a British piece of software that did this, but can't find it.

Has easy to use clients which will run on both Windows and Linux.
Has a server which I can run myself on Linux (preferably easy to set up).
(optional) Supports duplexed voice and video with minimal hassle.
Is open source/free software.
Is there a protocol that fulfils these requirements?
I figured if I could reimage the new laptop, I wouldn't have to reinstall all the development software I install on a regular basis on every new system when I get a new contract gig and have to work on site--it takes me a day and a half to get through all of them, so I really need a better solution.
Note: I am using Windows 7 Ultimate on my desktop, and using Windows 7 Home on my laptop.
I am trying to set up SSH to a SCO Unix server that runs custom software that uses the function keys on the keyboard, however the keys do not appear to be in the correct format for SCO to recognise. None of the keyboard options on PuTTY work, including the SCO option.
How do I change the keycodes that SCO/bash is looking for when it wants a function key? If it helps, the system is upgrading from Wyse50 terminals.
thanks!
Hi,
I have installed "Damn Small Linux" on my home computer for doing C development in unix. But the distribution doesn't by default come with the C development environment and I am facing some issues when trying to install the gcc.
Is there any other small Linux distribution which by default has the required packages for the C development. And also I don't want additional software which takes up lot of space but still would like to have the graphical environment.
Thanks
Hi, in all versions of Windows we are unable to rename a file or a folder name as con unless we use a renaming software. Why a file or a folder can't be renamed as con?
I'm trying to setup an apache http server with mod_wsgi on a windows machine, but when I start the service, it fails to launch.
In the Windows Event Log I get the following message:
The Apache2 service terminated with the following service-specific error:
Incorrect function.
In running a Windows 8 - 64 bits machine, with
Apache 2.0.64 32 bits
Python 2.7.8 32 bits
mod_wsgi 3.5 32 bits
I looked around the web, but all the problem but everywhere says that it's a problem with the architecture of the software, but I already installed them all with the 32 bits version.
Can I run 64-bit VM guests on a 32-bit host?
If I have a physical PC with 32 bit can I launch a VM that is 64 bit?
What virtual machine software (Virtual PC or VirtualBox or other) would allow this?
I read out there that VMware may support this but I am looking for something Open source or free.
Host would preferably be a Windows host but could be Linux. Guest needs to be Windows.
Thanks
Have seen some highly compressed files around.(for eg: i have seen 700mb of data compressed to around 30-50mb)
But how do you get such compressed files, I have tried using softwares like Winrar and 7Zip but have never achieved such high compression.
What are the techniques/software that allow you to compress files so well?
(P.S. I'm using Windows Xp)
I use Dropbox for relatively simple tasks, such as sharing mp3 files between my home PC and work laptop. What types of clever things can I use this software for? I imagine it could be quite powerful as a collaboration tool.

Everyday we used to get some problems with softwares/hardware and it can be classified into different categories.Sometimes we find a solution or perfect workarounds for those problems. What is your favorite workaround that you have found ?

I'm looking for a windows program for cataloging my DVD, video files, ebook, etc...
The program must have some retrieval of information from the internet and from the files themselves.
Also, one MUST HAVE requirement is that if a file/ebook changes location, I need to be able to change it in the software. Even better if the program allows bulk updating...

Order of preference is: open-source, freeware, shareware, commercial.
IT security people often say they do "vulnerability research". They defend the idea that they actually are doing some kind of "research". But is searching for vulnerabilities in software real research? A geologist looking for mines in the desert is doing "exploration", not "research".
I have two Wi-Fi cards and two separate Internet connections.
I connect to the Internet with both of them but one does all of the Internet transactions (and I have not seen any place where I can specify which one I would prefer to use!)
What I would like to do is use one of them for the browser and Skype only, and the other one for stock exchange software for instance.
Is this is possible?
I have an iPad app that shows some good picture, and I want to transfer some pictures to the PC so I can send them by email to other people. Is there a way to capture the screen and save it as PNG or JPG?
Otherwise, is the only way to install an iPad SDK (software development kit) so that you have a virtual iPad on the computer and run the app, and then use screen capture program on the PC to do the capture?
I have a Linux machine that is not running too much in the way of software, but is somehow using 1.7GB of the 2GB of the installed memory. When I run free, I get:
total used free shared buffers cached
Mem: 2072616 1979972 92644 0 164876 129740
-/+ buffers/cache: 1685356 387260
Swap: 498004 1632 496372
However, when I run ps aux, the memory usage of all processes only comes out to 295.9MB, which is a far cry from the 1.7GB of memory that free reports as used.
Why is there such a discrepancy?
Hi,
I am looking at buying a desktop and have narrowed down my choices to 2 machines with exactly the same specs, but different CPU's.
Machine 1 CPU: Intel® Core™2 Quad Processor Q8300 (4M Cache, 2.50 GHz, 1333 MHz FSB)
Machine 2 CPU: Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor E7500 (3M Cache, 2.93 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB)
I plan on using the PC for the following:
Music Playing
Software Development
Virtual Machine Running
Gaming
"General Work"
Which CPU would better suit the job?
