  Hi I am trying to implement a installer which is going to perform following tasks.1. Check and install .net 3.52. check and install SQL server 2008 (standard edition)3. create the databases4. create a virtual directory and deploy published resources5. • lightweight/portable VCS for server-hopping DBA?

  I'm looking for a VCS that'll help me keep all of my work scripts in-sync. Requirements: Portable (as in flash drive, not code-level) Run on Windows XP and Server 2003+ No installation dependencies (Cygwin, perl, Python) I use Mercurial on my work machine for version control of the various T-SQL, ksh, perl, and CMD/BAT scripts that I maintain as a MS SQL Server DBA and Unix sysadmin. So far, hg has worked for my AIX boxes- I mount my home directory as I login, and deal with the repo as if it were local. I haven't been able to find a similar solution for the Windows machines I use. Most of them I do not have Local Admin rights; even if I did, I'd rather not install (and maintain) Python + Mercurial on all of them. I can't get to my home directory on them remotely, which leaves a client running on each machine as the only option. Bonus points for an answer that would let me use a single repo for both the Windows and Unix machines. :) I'm running WinXP, with heavy use of Cygwin and a CrunchBang VM.

• IIS 6+ASP.NET - many temp files generated

  I have a ASP.NET + some .NET web-services running on IIS 6 (win 2003 server). The issue is that IIS is generating a lot (!) of files in "c:\WINDOWS\Temp" directory. a lot of files means thousands of files, which get to more than 3G of size so far. UPDATE: The problem is that the command i described above (csc.exe) is being executed many (many) times, causing the .out & .err to be generated so many times, until it consumes the disk space.   My list view layout is similar to Pinterest, with absolutely positioned blocks. Unfortunately, this seems to require a full re-initialization at refresh. If reload only the store (as below) the new blocks are incorrectly positioned. How do I reload the app when the user clicks on refresh? • Travelling Visual Studio developers

  Hi, I am about to travel to Europe (I'm Australian but imagine this is a similar circumstance for US users and simply flipped for European users). However, there is the slim possibility I will need to do some Visual Studio work while I'm travelling. As I see it I have three options: Leave a desktop PC on at home, access remotely via net cafes. Carry a laptop with me on the trip, upload files as required using public wifi. Option 2 but instead buy cheap light netbook that is miraculously capable of running VS. Does anyone have any experience or advice to shed on any of these options? For reference, this existing post suggests that VS remotely for short distances is okay, but over longer distances could be more problematic. I've used VS via RDP to a US server before and it was pretty laggy but for small changes I could get by. Concerns I have that you may have some experience with: Weight of luggage (ideally like to travel light) Security of laptop (imagine it'll be too heavy to carry around all the time so have to leave it at hotel/hostel etc. and hope for the best) Security of data (don't want someone stealing RDP access to my home PC) Security of FTP (don't want someone stealing FTP passwords over wireless)

Just last week I uninstalled Ruby and re-installed it. When I first installed Ruby I installed it in a similar manner, from source prefixed at my local $HOME/usr directory. I tried removing each and every file make install installs, then re-installing, but that didn't help. Do you have an idea what the issue is and how to resolve it?

• Problem uploading app to google app engine

  I'm having problems uploading an app to the google-app-engine from my work place. I believe the problem is related to proxy, because I do not see the same problem when following the same procedure from home. (I do not specify HTTP_PROXY from home). These are the commands I run: HTTP_PROXY=http://proxy.<thehostname>.com:8080 HTTP_PROXY=https://proxy.<thehostname>.com:8080 appcfg.py --insecure update myappfolder When running the commands I get prompted for email and password, as expected, but after that it immediately exits with this errormessage: Error 302: --- begin server output --- <HTML> <HEAD> <TITLE>Moved Temporarily</TITLE> </HEAD> <BODY BGCOLOR="#FFFFFF" TEXT="#000000"> <H1>Moved Temporarily</H1> The document has moved <A HREF="https://www.google.com/accounts/ClientLogin">here</A>. </BODY> </HTML> --- end server output --- Note: I added the --insecure option because else it gave a warning of missing ssl module.   In our Intranet environment we have a decree that common assets (stylesheets, images, etc) should be fed from Apache root while Rails apps runs from from a "sub directory" (a proxy to a Mongrel cluster). (e.g. <link href="http://1.1.1.1/myapp/stylesheets/common.css"> ) Is there a way to stop this? And, more importantly, is there a best practice for how to deploy a rails app to an environment like this? (BTW, I don't want to simply hard code my asset paths since the development environment does not match the test and production environments.) Environment: Rails 2.3.4 Ruby 1.8.7 RedHat Linux 5.4?

• Relative path in JLabel HTML

  Hi, I am trying to make JLabel show an html which is referencing an image using a relative path. But I cannot make JLabel locate the image. It works fine when I am using absolute path. I have tried running the program from the command line or from eclipse and add dialog to show me where is the current working directory but for avail. I've written this function private function resetNavState():void { for(var i:int = 0,ii:int = nav.numChildren-1;i<ii;i++) { Button(nav.getChildAt(i)).mouseEnabled = true; Button(nav.getChildAt(i)).skin.setCurrentState("up",true); } } And then on the homeButton click handler for example i use protected function homeButton_clickHandler(event:MouseEvent):void { resetNavState(); currentState = "home"; homeButton.skin.setCurrentState("over",true); homeButton.mouseEnabled = false; } I resets the states of the #nav buttons but it doesn't change the state of the pressed button. • How to debug an external library (OpenCV) in Visual C++?

  I am developing a project in VC++2008. The project uses the OpenCV library (but I guess this applies to any other library). I am working with the Debug configuration, the linker properties include the debug versions of the library .lib's as additional dependencies. In VC++ Directories under Tools|Options i set up the include directory, the .lib directory, the source directories for the library as well. I get an error while calling one of the functions from the library and I'd like to see exactly what that function is doing. The line that produces the error is: double error = cvStereoCalibrate(&calObjPointsM, &img1PointsM, &img2PointsM, &pointCountsM, &cam1M, &dist1M, &cam2M, &dist2M, imgSize, &rotM, &transM, NULL, NULL, cvTermCriteria(CV_TERMCRIT_ITER + CV_TERMCRIT_EPS, 100, 1e-5)); I set up a breakpoint at this line to see how the cvStereoCalibrate() function fails. Unfortunately the debugger won't show the source code for this function when I hit "Step into". It skips immediately to the cvTermCriteria() (which is a simple inline, macro-kinda function) and show its contents. Is there anything else I need to do to be able to enter the external library functions in the debugger? EDIT: I think the cvTermCriteria() function shows in the debugger, because it's defined in a header file, therefore immediately accesible to the project.

• Reading a binary file in perl: Bad File Descriptor

  I'm trying to read a binary file 40 bytes at a time, then check to see if all those bytes are 0x00, and if so ignore them. If not, it will write them back out to another file (basically just cutting out large blocks of null bytes). This may not be the most efficient way to do this, but I'm not worried about that. • Why is PHP discriminating between .php and .abc extensions for caching?

  There seems to be a problem between how PHP engine handles identical files that differ only in their file extension. Problem: "An If-Modified-Since conditional request returned the full content unchanged." Also, I measured that the .php extension loads much faster than identitcal twin with .xxx extension even though the file contents are identical, and they differ only in their file extension. "HTTP allows clients to make conditional requests to see if a copy that they hold is still valid. Since this response has a Last-Modified header, clients should be able to use an If-Modified-Since request header for validation. RED has done this and found that the resource sends a full response even though it hadn't changed, indicating that it doesn't support Last-Modified validation." homepage ending with .php exact same file, but ending .ast Given: A home.php file is copied as home.xxx and this extension is added to htaccess to recognize it as a PHP file. The entire page.php loads faster as somehow all the elements in there then load properly from cache, while the page.abc has the full request returned while it ought to be cached, meaning the entire page is slower. Bottom line: What should be changed, in order eliminate the If-Modified-Since conditional request returning the full content unchanged?

• Secure Copy File from remote server via scp and os module in Python

  I'm pretty new to Python and programming. I'm trying to copy a file between two computers via a python script. However the code os.system("ssh " + hostname + " scp " + filepath + " " + user + "@" + localhost + ":" cwd) won't work. I think it needs a password, as descriped in How do I copy a file to a remote server in python using scp or ssh?. I didn't get any error logs, the file just won't show in my current working directory. However every other command with os.system("ssh " + hostname + "command") or os.popen("ssh " + hostname + "command") does work. - command = e.g. ls When I try ssh hostname scp file user@local:directory in the commandline it works without entering a password. I tried to combine os.popen commands with getpass and pxssh module to establish a ssh connection to the remote server and use it to send commands directly (I only tested it for an easy command): import pxssh import getpass ssh = pxssh.pxssh() ssh.force_password = True hostname = raw_input("Hostname: ") user = raw_input("Username: ") password = getpass.getpass("Password: ") ssh.login(hostname, user, password) test = os.popen("hostname") print test But I'm not able to put commands through to the remote server (print test shows, that hostname = local and not the remote server), however I'm sure, the conection is established. I thought it would be easier to establish a connection than always use "ssh " + hostname in the bash commands. I also tried some of the workarounds in How do I copy a file to a remote server in python using scp or ssh?, but I must admit due to lack of expirience I didn't get them to work. • jquery append 'x' number images elements applying 'x' to src and class

  I have a directory with 590 pictures and my issue is being able to pull images using jquery alone from that directory and appending them which i have found out can not be done alone using jquery/javascript. alternatively i have renamed the pictures 1.jpg,2.jpg ... 590.jpg . how using jquery can i append 590 images to a div leaving me with the number of the appended element applied to the src being 'lq'+numberofappended+'.jpg' and class being 'image-'+numberofappended as a result leaving me with the below <div class="imagecontainer"> <img src="lq/1.jpg" class="image-1"/> <img src="lq/2.jpg" class="image-2"/> <img src="lq/3.jpg" class="image-3"/> ... <img src="lq/590.jpg" class="image-590"/> </div> if what I have will be too extensive can i append 50 images at a time and apply a jquery pagination loading another 50 each time i reach the end of the page. I personally know how to use append in jquery but I don't know how to individually append an image and depending on which append number it is applying it to the src and class.

  Hy Guys, I have to pass in a method action a string parameter, because I want to implement a tags' search in my site with asp.net MVC but everytime in action it is passed a null value. I post some code! I try to create a personal route. routes.MapRoute( "TagsRoute", "Tags/PostList/{tag}", new {tag = "" } ); My RouteLink in a viewpage for each tag is: <% foreach (var itemtags in item.tblTagArt) {%> <%= Html.RouteLink(itemtags.Tags.TagName,"TagsRoute", new {tag=itemtags.Tags.TagName})%>, <% } %> My method action is: public ActionResult PostList(string tag) { if (tag == "") { return RedirectToAction("Index", "Home"); } else { var articoli = artdb.GetArticoliByTag(tag); if (articoli == null) { return RedirectToAction("Index", "Home"); } return View(articoli); } } Problem is value tag that's always null, and so var articoli is always empty! Probably my problem is tag I have to make a route contrainst to my tag parameter. Anybody can help me? N.B I am using ASP.NET MVC 1.0 and not 2.0!

• What is a reasonable OSGi development workflow?

  I'm using OSGi for my latest project at work, and it's pretty beautiful as far as modularity and functionality. But I'm not happy with the development workflow. Eventually, I plan to have 30-50 separate bundles, arranged in a dependency graph - supposedly, this is what OSGi is designed for. But I can't figure out a clean way to manage dependencies at compile time. Example: You have bundles A and B. B depends on packages defined in A. Each bundle is developed as a separate Java project. In order to compile B, A has to be on the javac classpath. Do you: Reference the file system location of project A in B's build script? Build A and throw the jar into B's lib directory? Rely on Eclipse's "referenced projects" feature and always use Eclipse's classpath to build (ugh) Use a common "lib" directory for all projects and dump the bundle jars there after compilation? Set up a bundle repository, parse the manifest from the build script and pull down the required bundles from the repository? No. 5 sounds the cleanest, but also like a lot of overhead.

• Why do I get "Bad File Descriptor" when I try to read a file with Perl?

  I'm trying to read a binary file 40 bytes at a time, then check to see if all those bytes are 0x00, and if so ignore them. If not, it will write them back out to another file (basically just cutting out large blocks of null bytes). This may not be the most efficient way to do this, but I'm not worried about that. • Why rails app is redirecting unexpectedly instead of matching the route?
