Error in WCF service - Silverlight client communication.

I created a WCF service and I planned to consume this in a Silverlight application. So I created the WCF service in the Website host project. The service is a simple WCF service that only returns a number - something like a Hello World WCF-SL. So after adding a service reference in the silverlight client project to the Service URI, after calling async the service method (by using the generated proxy), I get the following exception in the callback method: An error occurred while trying to make a request to URI 'http://localhost:4566/SLService.svc'. This could be due to attempting to access a service in a cross-domain way without a proper cross-domain policy in place, or a policy that is unsuitable for SOAP services. You may need to contact the owner of the service to publish a cross-domain policy file and to ensure it allows SOAP-related HTTP headers to be sent. This error may also be caused by using internal types in the web service proxy without using the InternalsVisibleToAttribute attribute. Please see the inner exception for more details. I only created a HelloWorld WCF service with nothing else but a simple method that returns a dumb number and it's hosted on my locally. Must I have clientaccesspolicy.xml or crossdomain.xml? I acces my service locally. Every time I create a new simple/dumb WCF-SL solution, I get this error. I use VS2010 and Silverlight 4. I cannot get a simple/dumb WCF-SL solution working locally. Is there something wrong with the configuration? On another machine in the same network, it does work properly, so I assume something is misconfigured. Any thoughts?

Algorithm to get through a maze

Hello, We are currently programming a game (its a pretty unknown language: modula 2), And the problem we encountered is the following: we have a maze (not a perfect maze) in a 17 x 12 grid. The computer has to generate a way from the starting point (9, 12) to the end point (9, 1). I found some algorithms but they dont work when the robot has to go back: xxxxx x => x x xxx or: xxxxx x xxxxxx x x x x x xxxxxx x => x xxxxxxxxx I found a solution for the first example type but then the second type couldn't be solved and the solution I made up for the second type would cause the robot to get stuck in the first type of situation. It's a lot of code so i'll give the idea: WHILE (end destination not reached) DO { try to go right, if nothing blocks you: go right if you encounter a block, try up until you can go right, if you cant go up anymore try going down until you can go right, (starting from the place you first were blocked), if you cant go down anymore, try one step left and fill the spaces you tested with blocks. } This works for the first type of problem ... not for the second one. Now it could be that i started wrong so i am open for better algorithms or solutions specificaly to how i could improve my algorithm. Thanks a lot!!

Komodo Edit 5.2 Django Template Syntax Error - Info: <head> previously mentioned

I am using Komodo Edit 5.2 for editing html and Django template files. It always shows a single syntax error inside the first {% block %} area on the first tag of my template. For example: {% extends "base.html" %} {% load i18n %} {% block title %}Hello{% endblock %} {% block content %} <p>Hello</p> <-- Syntax error on this single line <p>Other lines have no errors</p> {% endblock %} {% block footer %} <p>No errors here</p> {% endblock %} The syntax error given is: Info: <head> previously mentioned I know for a fact that the error has nothing to do with my <head> tag since it occurs in the base template and in child templates (and the IDE isn't smart enough to process the base templates when in a child, etc.) All of my html tags are closed properly and everything validates for XHTML strict. This forum post mentions a similar problem but offers no solution (and may be specific to Smarty syntax highlighting). Any ideas on how to resolve this error (or disable it from being shown)?

Getting chart data to work within a function

Hey all i am in need of some help trying to figure out how to pass a string into an array field for a chart. Say that theDATA is '2,5,4,7,8,9'. If i had this: data: [2,5,4,7,8,9] Then it would work just fine. But if i use those same numbers... theData = "2,5,4,7,8,9" data: [theData] It does nothing on the chart... So what am i doing wrong???? David

iPhone SDK - (void)viewDidLoad { } - Show Progress

I have a long - (void)viewDidLoad { } function that uses the internet to load a page, and whenever the application loads the URL, the screen is black. I have a UIActivityIndicator setup to show that the address is loading, but I don't know how to prevent it from seeming as if the application is not responding, and I don't want to show the network activity indicator [[UIApplication sharedApplication] setNetworkActivityIndicatorVisible:YES]; because the screen will still be black, just with a loader in the top corner. Reading a POP3 server with only TcpClient and StreamWriter/StreamReader

I'm trying to read mails from my live.com account, via the POP3 protocol. I've found the the server is pop3.live.com and the port if 587. I'm not planning on using a pre-made library, I'm using NetworkStream and StreamReader/StreamWriter for the job. I need to figure this out. So, any of the answers given here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/44383/reading-email-using-pop3-in-c are not usefull. It's part of a larger program, but I made a small test to see if it works. Eitherway, i'm not getting anything. search form in html/php via ajax

i've a search form wherein the database query has been coded in php and the html file calls this php file via ajax to display the results in the search form. the problem is, i would like the result to be displayed in the same form as search.html; yet while the ajax works, it goes to search.php to display the results. search.html: <!DOCTYPE html> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"> <script src="scripts/search_ajax.js" type="text/javascript"></script> </head> <body> <form id="submitForm" method="post"> <div class="wrapper"> <div class="field"> <input name="search" id="search" /> </div><br /> <input id="button1" type="submit" value="Submit" class="submit" onclick="run_query();" /><br /> </div> <div id="searchContainer"> </div> </form> </body> </html> if i add action="search.php" to the form tag, it displays the result but on search.php. i'd like it to display on the same form [i.e search.html, and not search.php] if i just add the javascript function [as done above], it displays nothing on search.html

[MFC] I can't re-parent a window

Following on from this question, now I have a clearer picture what's going on... I have a MFC application with no main window, which exposes an API to create dialogs. When I call some of these methods repeatedly, the dialogs created are parented to each other instead of all being parented to the desktop... I have no idea why. But anyway even after creation, I am unable to change the parent back to NULL or CWnd::GetDesktopWindow()... if I call SetParent followed by GetParent, nothing has changed. So apart from the really weird question of why Windows is magically parenting each dialog to the last one created, is there anything I'm missing to be able to set these windows as children of the desktop? UPDATED: I have found the reason for all this, but not the solution. "domain crashed" when creating new Xen instance

I have downloaded a Xen virtual machine image from the appscale project, and I am trying to start it up. Command /Developer/usr/bin/dsymutil failed with exit code 10

I am getting the above error message randomly (so far as I can tell) on iPhone projects. Occasionally it will go away upon either: Clean Restart XCode Reboot Reinstall XCode But sometimes it won't. When it won't the only solution I have found is to take all the source material, import it into a new project, and then redo all the connections in IB. Then I'm good until it strikes again. Anybody have any suggestions? [update 20091030] I have tried building both debug and release versions, both full and lite versions. I've also tried switching the debug symbols from DWARF with external dSYM file to DWARF and to stabs. Clean builds in all formats make no differences. Permission repairs change nothing. Setting up a new user has no effect. Same error on the builds. Thanks for the suggestions! [Update 20091031] Here's an easier and (apparently) reliable workaround. It hinges upon the discovery that the problem is linked to a target not a project In the same project file, create a new target Option-Drag (copy) all the files from the BAD target 'Copy Bundle Resources' folder to the NEW target 'Copy Bundle Resources' folder Repeat (2) with 'Compile Sources' and 'Link Binary With Libraries' Duplicate the Info.plist file for the BAD target and name it correctly for the NEW target. Build the NEW target! [Update 20100222] Apparently an IDE bug, now apparently fixed, although Apple does not allow direct access to the original bug of a duplicate. I can no longer reproduce this behaviour, so hopefully it is dead, dead, dead.

Dismiss Popover using Unwind Segue in Xcode Storyboard

I am using Xcode 4.5 and the new iOS 6 feature to unwind segues. Connecting the cancel bar button to the cancelConfig button worked fine in Xcode. However, when running the code, nothing happens when clicking on the Cancel button despite Xcode 4.5 should be supporting dismissing popovers when unwinding segues (according to the release docs). Trouble with Rails has_many relationships

I'm writing an app where a user can both create their own pages for people to post on, and follow posts on pages that users have created. Here is what my model relationships look like at the moment... class User < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :pages has_many :posts has_many :followings has_many :pages, :through => :followings, :source => :user class Page < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :posts belongs_to :user has_many :followings has_many :users, :through => :followings class Following < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :user belongs_to :page class Post < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :page belongs_to :user The trouble happens when I try to work my way down through the relationships in order to create a homepage of pages (and corresponding posts) a given user is following (similar to the way Twitter's user homepage works when you login - a page that provides you a consolidated view of all the latest posts from the pages you are following)... I get a "method not found" error when I try to call followings.pages. Ideally, I'd like to be able to call User.pages in a way that gets me the pages a user is following, rather than the pages they have created. I'm a programming and Rails newb, so any help would be much appreciated! I tried to search through as much of this site as possible before posting this question (along with numerous Google searches), but nothing seemed as specific as my problem...

Ruby Shoes packager including Shoes in the app

I can't seem to get the Ruby Shoes packager to correctly create an exe with Shoes included. I'm using the Raisins release (0.r1134), with the pack.rb replaced from github. The exe's the packager makes are all 70-80K files (they obviously don't include shoes or ruby). These exe's will run on my XP machine that already has Shoes on it. but when I copy them to another laptop they start a "Shoes is downloading" dialog that does nothing and then goes away. I need to make standalone Windows exe's, and my understanding was that the "Yes, I want Shoes included" option in the packager would do that. Did I misunderstand the intent? Is there a way to make this work? Hope so, because I love Shoes. As most women do. Hmm... maybe Shoes was _why's attempt at getting more women into programming as well as kids...but I digress. Circular file references not allowed

Hi, I am having a problem in building my solution in VS2008. Normally, it compiles fine in the environment. Sometimes, it fails with: /xxx_WEB/secure/CMSManagedTargetPage.aspx(1): error ASPPARSE: Circular file references are not allowed. I rebuild and it works fine. Now, however, I am in the middle of setting up a CruiseControl.NET system and am testing my checked out code with MSBuild before I integrate the build into CC. Now, everytime I MSBuild, I get: "Q:\cc\xxx\checked out from svn\xxx.sln" (default target) (1) -> (xxx_WEB target) -> /xxx_WEB/secure/CMSManagedTargetPage.aspx(1): error ASPPARSE: Circular file references are not allowed. Problem is, I can't see where this reference is. I have searched for the reference across the entire solution and canf ind no references to the page itself (CMSManagedTargetPage) anywhere other than in the page or its codebehind, or within a string, eg: C:\dev2008\xxx\IWW.xxx.ASPNET\AspxHttpHandler.cs(82): inputFile = context.Server.MapPath("~/secure/CMSManagedTargetPage.aspx"); C:\dev2008\xxx\IWW.xxx.ASPNET\AspxHttpHandler.cs(83): virtualPath = "~/secure/CMSManagedTargetPage.aspx"; My assembly references are also fine (as far as I know). My Web Application is at the "top" of the dependencies, and nothing references it and therefore the faulting page so cannot cause a circular reference. Of course, the page itself may reference something such as a UserControl within the same assembly/web site, but as mentioned earlier, a search on CMSManagedTargetPage yielded no results so this is not happening. Changing the batch attribute in web.config had no effect on MSBuild. I find it very odd that it "sometimes" fails in VS and always fails in MSBuild. Am I missing some subtlety?

Language+IDE for teaching high school students?

I'm investigating languages and IDEs for a project involving teaching high-school students (around grade 11). It will teach basics of programming as an introduction to computer science (e.g., including how numbers/strings/characters are represented, using procedures and arrays, control flow, a little bit of algorithms, only very basic I/O). The non-negotiable requirements for this project are: a free up-to-date cross-platform IDE (Win & Mac incl. 64-bit) with debug a compiler where it's easy to learn from your mistakes together with the IDE, a gentle installation+learning curve So far, the best options I see are the following. Are there others I should know about? I am giving a short explanation with each one to generally show what I am looking for. In order from most to least promising: Pascal + FreePascal IDE (it seems a little buggy but actively developed?) Python + Eclipse + PyDev (good but features are overwhelming/hard to navigate) Groovy + Eclipse ('') Python + IDLE (looks unnatural to do debugging, to me) Pascal + Lazarus (IDE overwhelming, e.g. not obvious how to "start from scratch") Preferably, as a rule of thumb, the language should be direct enough that you don't need to wrap every program in a class, don't need to reference a System object to println, etc. I tried a little bit to see if there is something in JavaScript or (non-Visual) Basic along the lines of what I want, but found nothing so far. I would say that C/C++/C#, Java, Ruby, Lisp, VB do not fit my criteria for languages for this project. To reiterate my questions: are any of those 5 options really awesome or un-awesome? Are there other options which are even MORE awesome? Anything for Basic or JavaScript which meets all of the criteria? Thanks!

Cloning git repository from svn repository, results in file-less, remote-branch-less git repo.

Working SVN repo I'm starting a git repo to interact with a svn repo. The svn repository is set and working fine, with a single commit of a basic README file in it. Essentially I want to group my orders by CustomerID, but i noticed that linq to entity does not allow a .ToList(object) inside the select. I want something like this... List customers = GetCustomerList(); var orders = from c in customers from o in c.Orders where o.OrderDate >= new DateTime(1998, 1, 1) select new xpto { TheCostumerID = c.CustomerID, CostumerOrders = o.Select(i=>i.OrderID).ToList(), }; ...but the .ToList() is a big problem, at least for me. I'm trying to find out the solution for that but so far I have acomplished nothing! Please help me.

Say I have the following table definitions in SQL Server 2008: CREATE TABLE Person (PersonId INT IDENTITY NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY, Name VARCHAR(50) NOT NULL, ManyMoreIrrelevantColumns VARCHAR(MAX) NOT NULL) CREATE TABLE Model (ModelId INT IDENTITY NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY, ModelName VARCHAR(50) NOT NULL, Description VARCHAR(200) NULL) CREATE TABLE ModelScore (ModelId INT NOT NULL REFERENCES Model (ModelId), Score INT NOT NULL, Definition VARCHAR(100) NULL, PRIMARY KEY (ModelId, Score)) CREATE TABLE PersonModelScore (PersonId INT NOT NULL REFERENCES Person (PersonId), ModelId INT NOT NULL, Score INT NOT NULL, PRIMARY KEY (PersonId, ModelId), FOREIGN KEY (ModelId, Score) REFERENCES ModelScore (ModelId, Score)) The idea here is that each Person may have only one ModelScore per Model, but each Person may have a score for any number of defined Models. As far as I can tell, this SQL should enforce these constraints naturally. The ModelScore has a particular "meaning," which is contained in the Definition. Nothing earth-shattering there. Now, I try translating this into Entity Framework using the designer. After updating the model from the database and doing some editing, I have a Person object, a Model object, and a ModelScore object. PersonModelScore, being a join table, is not an object but rather is included as an association with some other name (let's say ModelScorePersonAssociation). The mapping details for the association are as follows: - Association - Maps to PersonModelScore - ModelScore ModelId : Int32 <=> ModelId : int Score : Int32 <=> Score : int - Person PersonId : Int32 <=> PersonId : int On the right-hand side, the ModelId and PersonId values have primary key symbols, but the Score value does not. Upon compilation, I get: Error 3002: Problem in Mapping Fragment starting at line 5190: Potential runtime violation of table PersonModelScore's keys (PersonModelScore.ModelId, PersonModelScore.PersonId): Columns (PersonModelScore.PersonId, PersonModelScore.ModelId) are mapped to EntitySet ModelScorePersonAssociation's properties (ModelScorePersonAssociation.Person.PersonId, ModelScorePersonAssociation.ModelScore.ModelId) on the conceptual side but they do not form the EntitySet's key properties (ModelScorePersonAssociation.ModelScore.ModelId, ModelScorePersonAssociation.ModelScore.Score, ModelScorePersonAssociation.Person.PersonId). What have I done wrong in the designer or otherwise, and how can I fix the error? Many thanks!

Using DevIL with Xcode

Hello everyone! I'm trying to use DevIL with XCode but I can't get it to work. I tried using the "standard" method by doing "configure make make install" and using #import <IL/il> but it doesn't work. sermyadmin 2.01

I am able to install sermyadmin 2.0.1 and got everything working. Only user registration is not working. When I register a user the entry goe sin DB etc find but the email is not send to the user. We are using our own smtp server with no authentication. And I am sure there is nothing wrong with the smtp server. I can see that it has received a request from sermyadmin but in the logs Is ee that the FROM adddress is missing. So it is throwing 553 5.1.8 Domain of sender address does not exist. The domain does exist. Here is my resources.xml with all the valid entries. Why does fprintf start printing out of order or not at all?
