[Record N] However the file produced either contains nulls or incomplete records from further up the file appended to the end. For example: [Record Zero] [Record One] ... [Record N] [Lots of nulls] or [Record Zero] [Record One] ... [Record N] [Half complete records] This also happens in separate pieces of code that also use the StreamWriter class. Furthermore, the files produced all have sizes that are multiples of 1024. I've been unable to reproduce this behaviour on any other machine and have tried recreating the environment. Previous versions of the application didn't exhibite this behaviour despite having the same code for the methods in question. EDIT: Added extra code.

  • Multiple windows services in a single project = mystery

    I'm having a bizarre issue that I haven't seen before and I'm thinking it MUST be something simple that I'm not seeing in my code. I have a project with 2 windows services defined. One I've called DataSyncService, the other SubscriptionService. Both are added to the same project installer. Both use a timer control from System.Timers. If I start both services together, they seem to work fine. The timers elapse at the appropriate time and everything looks okay. However, if I start either service individually, leaving the other stopped, everything goes haywire. The timer elapses constantly and on the wrong service. In other words, if I start the DataSyncService, the SubscriptionService timer elapses over and over. ...which is obviously strange. The setup is similar to what I've done in the past so I'm really stumped. I even tried deleting both service and starting over but it doesn't seem to make a difference. At this point, I'm thinking I've made a simple error in the way I'm defining the services and my brain just won't let me see it. It must be creating some sort of threading issue that causes one service to race when the other is stopped. Here the code....     Hi, is it possible to notify a SIP client when there is an incoming call on another phone? I know that there are the SUBSCRIBE and NOTIFY commands but I have found no event package for signaling incoming calls. Background: for a SIP-capable telephony system, I would like to provide an application that displays information about the caller (e.g. name, address, contracts, etc.) when the phone rings. The phones are external to the PC; they are not soft-phones. -Frank

  • Data 'logger' turning off when phone goes to standbymode

    I'm creating a datalogger which logs the gps data and the sensor data of the phone. I've just a strange problem. If the phone is not touched for few minutes it goes into standby mode (screen goes black), and that causes the logger to stop working. Actually the firewriting in the logger stops working. The GPS resumes fine after coming out of blackscreen, but when I check the log I created it only shows saved points for few minutes. Does anyone have idea what is causing this?

The naming is apparently not very important, so It's a bit random. 2 questions for you batch-geniuses out there. a) How can I append date/time of creation to the end of the filename with a batch-script? b) How can I append a random filename (so I make the files unique) with a batch-script?   • Unable to parse variable length string separated by delimiter

    Hi, I have a problem with parsing a string, which consists only of directory path. For ex. My input string is Abc\Program Files\sample\ My output should be Abc//Program Files//sample The script should work for input path of any length i.e., it can contain any no. of subdirectories. (For ex., abc\temp\sample\folder\joe) I have looked for help in many links but to no avail. Looks like FOR command extracts only one whole line or a string (when we use ‘token’ keyword in FOR syntax) but my problem is that I am not aware of the input path length and hence, the no. of tokens. My idea was to use \ as a delimiter and then extract each word before and after it (), and put the words to an output file along with // till we reach the end of the string. I tried implementing the following but it did not work: @echo off FOR /F "delims=\" %%x in (orig.txt) do ( IF NOT %%x == "" echo.%%x//output.txt ) The file orig.txt contains only one line i.e, Abc\Program Files\sample\ The output that I get contains only: Abc// The above output contains blank spaces as well after ‘Abc//’ My desired output should be: Abc//program Files//sample// Can anyone please help me with this?   • Is there any better way to capture the screen than PIL.ImageGrab.grab()?

    I am making a screen capture program with python. My current problem is PIL.ImageGrab.grab() gives me the same output as 2 seconds later.     Hey, folks. I'm looking for some regular expressions to help grab street addresses and phone numbers from free-form text (a la Gmail). Given some text: "John, I went to the store today, and it was awesome! Did you hear that they moved to 500 Green St.? ... Give me a call at +14252425424 when you get a chance." I'd like to be able to pull out: 500 Green St. (recognized as a street address) +14252425424 (recognized as a phone number) What makes this problem easier is that I don't care about parsing text that gets pulled out. That is, I don't care that Green is the name of the road or that 425 is the area code. I just want to grab strings that "look like" addresses or telephone numbers. Unfortunately, this needs to work internationally, as best as possible. Anyone have any leads? Thanks!

    I'm currently using ShellExecute "open" to open a URL in the user's browser, but running into a bit of trouble in Win7 and Vista because the program runs elevated as a service. When ShellExecute opens the browser, it seems to read the "Local Admin" profile instead of the user's. So for example, if the user at the keyboard has Firefox as his default browser, it may open IE (which is the admin's default). I know that the "runas" verb can be used to elevate, but how do you do it the other way around? Is there a way to open a URL in the default browser on a standard user's desktop from a service?

If i rename the same file to have it extension to some other ie. ".dll" or ".txt", then i am able to see all the information (file/version info, copyright info). Is it expected for Win2k8-R2.   • Android - Opening phone deletes app state

    Hey everyone, I'm writing an android application that maintains a lot of "state" data...some of it I can save in the form of onSaveInstanceState but some of it is just to complex to save in memory. My problem is that sliding the phone open destroys/recreates the app, and I lose all my application state in the process. The same thing happens with the "back" button, but I overloaded that function on my way. Is there any way to overload the phone opening to prevent it from happening? Thanks in advance.

    I'm turning off the monitor using SendMessage(HWND_BROUADCART, WM_SYSCOMMAND, SC_MONITORRPOWER, 2). That works, but the monitor turns back on when someone touches the keyboard or mouse. I tried to get rid of this using the DevicePowerSetDeviceState function with DEVICEPOWER_CLEAR_WAKEENABLED for the keyboard and mouse: it returns no error, but has no effect either. How can I prevent the monitor from powering back on in Vista and Windows7?

    Hello. I am new to Android and mobile phones development. I want to develop an application that needs to have a total control over the "phone" of the smartphone, i.e. controlling all the communication of the GSM chip with the cellular system, accessing the SIM card identity that it sends (encrypted) to the cellular system, disabling the cellular antenna and resuming it back, and more of that kind... Can it be done with Android? Does the software (OS) have control over all of the phone components in a smartphone, or there are some parts that are done in the hardware level only? (I guess that the Android API won't enable me to do everything i want, but even theoretically is it possible if I recompile the OS after making the changes there?) Thanks!
