  • Adding an integer onto an array

    - by Ohmnastrum
    I'm trying to add random numbers onto the end of this array when ever I call this function. I've narrowed it down to just this so far. when ever I check to see if anything is in the array it says 0. So now i'm quite stumped. I'm thinking that MutableArray releases the contents of it before I ever get to use them. problem is I don't know what to use. A button calls the function and pretty much everything else is taken care of its just this portion inside the function. NSMutableArray * choices; -(void) doSomething { int r = arc4random() % 4; //The problem... [choices addObject:[NSNumber numberWithInt:r]]; int anInt = [[choices objectAtIndex:1] integerValue]; NSLog(@"%d", anInt); //I'm getting nothing no matter what I do. //some type of loop that goes through the array and displays each element //after it gets added }

  • UIImage Object surprisingly returning null but not NSData

    - by riyaz
    i have created a sqlite db. and i have insert a few datas in my db.. UIImage * imagee=[UIImage imageNamed:@"image.png"]; NSData *mydata=[NSData dataWithData:UIImagePNGRepresentation(imagee)]; const char *dbpath = [databasePath UTF8String]; NSString *insertSQL=[NSString stringWithFormat:@"insert into CONTACTS values(\"%@\",\"%@\")",@"Mathan",mydata]; NSLog(@"mydata %@",mydata); sqlite3_stmt *addStatement; const char *insert_stmt=[insertSQL UTF8String]; if (sqlite3_open(dbpath,&contactDB)==SQLITE_OK) { sqlite3_prepare_v2(contactDB,insert_stmt,-1,&addStatement,NULL); if (sqlite3_step(addStatement)==SQLITE_DONE) { sqlite3_bind_blob(addStatement,1, [mydata bytes], [mydata length], SQLITE_TRANSIENT); NSLog(@"Data saved"); } else{ NSLog(@"Some Error occured"); } sqlite3_close(contactDB); } else{ NSLog(@"Failure"); } have written some codes to retrive the data sqlite3_stmt *statement; if (sqlite3_open([databasePath UTF8String], &contactDB) == SQLITE_OK) { NSString *sql = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"SELECT * FROM contacts"]; if (sqlite3_prepare_v2( contactDB, [sql UTF8String], -1, &statement, nil) == SQLITE_OK) { while (sqlite3_step(statement) == SQLITE_ROW) { char *field1 = (char *) sqlite3_column_text(statement, 0); NSString *field1Str = [[NSString alloc] initWithUTF8String: field1]; NSLog(@"UserName %@",field1Str); NSData *data = [[NSData alloc] initWithBytes:sqlite3_column_blob(statement, 1) length:sqlite3_column_bytes(statement, 1)]; UIImage *newImage = [[UIImage alloc]initWithData:data]; NSLog(@"Image OBJ %@",newImage); NSLog(@"Image Data %@",data); } sqlite3_close(contactDB); } } sqlite3_finalize(statement); the problem is in log, inserted NSData object and retrieved NSData Objects are different (printing in log gives different stream) moreover Image OBJ is printed null in log.. Have seen similar questions in stackoverflow. But nothing seems to help. Please give some suggestions to overcome this issue.

    I had a page control(UIPageControl) on a view (UIViewController) with table view (UITableView) on each page, each page have own table and can go to different view controller. i add the codes in "didSelectRowAtIndexPath" which can go to next level, is works perfect when i test it in a table view by itself, but it doesn't works when i have page controller with it. - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { [tableView deselectRowAtIndexPath:indexPath animated:YES]; if (pageNumber == 0) { PicturesViewController *picturesView = [[PicturesViewController alloc] init]; [self.navigationController pushViewController:picturesView animated:YES]; [picturesView release]; } else if (pageNumber == 1) { PictureDetailViewController *pictureDetailView = [[PictureDetailViewController alloc] init]; [self.navigationController pushViewController:pictureDetailView animated:YES]; [pictureDetailView release]; } else if (pageNumber == 2) { MessagesViewController *messagesView = [[MessagesViewController alloc] init]; [self.navigationController pushViewController:messagesView animated:YES]; [messagesView release]; } } here is the code, if view directly to this table view this code is work, how can i make it work under the pagecontrol??

  • How do I reset the state of a view inside a tabbar?

    - by ABeanSits
    Hello CocoaTouch-Experts! This is a fairly straightforward question though my Googling session gave me nothing. How do I reset the state of a view hierarchy located in a tabbar programmatically? The behavior I want to replicate is when the user tapps on a tab twice. This causes the view located under that tab to return to it's initial state. The tab is "owned" by a UINavigationController and when the user reaches a certain point in the view hierarchy there is a button which I want to connect this behavior to. All my attempts have failed except calling on a method in AppDelegate which kills the view and adds it back to the UITabBarController again. But this does not feel like the right way to go. Thanks in advance. Best regards //Abeansits

  • Core Data strategy using in memory cache, or no core data at all?

    - by randombits
    I have a user interface where the user can check off a bunch of items from a tableview, almost like a todo list. The items are populated from a Core Data stack. I need to be able to take all of the items they're clicking through and put them into a "temporary" shopping cart. Once they're in the shopping cart, users can go through the list and remove the items, or just submit them to a server. The thing is, the selected items are temporary just like an internet based shopping cart. It's nothing something that gets persisted once the application closes. Once the view is no longer in display, I can assume that the shopping cart is safe to discard. What's the best way to approach this? Since the user is essentially clicking on instances that map back to a Core Data entity .. should I setup a different persistence store such as in memory and add that store to my managed object context?

  • Changing pointer of self

    - by rob5408
    I have an object that I alloc/init like normal just to get a instance. Later in my application I want to load state from disk for that object. I figure I could unarchive my class (which conforms to NSCoding) and just swap where my instance points to. To this end I use this code... NSString* pathForDataFile = [self pathForDataFile]; if([[NSFileManager defaultManager] fileExistsAtPath:pathForDataFile] == YES) { NSLog(@"Save file exists"); NSData *data = [[NSMutableData alloc] initWithContentsOfFile:pathForDataFile]; NSKeyedUnarchiver *unarchiver = [[NSKeyedUnarchiver alloc] initForReadingWithData:data]; [data release]; Person *tempPerson = [unarchiver decodeObjectForKey:@"Person"]; [unarchiver finishDecoding]; [unarchiver release]; if (tempPerson) { [self release]; self = [tempPerson retain]; } } Now when I sprinkled some NSLogs throughout my application I noticed self.person: <Person: 0x3d01a10> (After I create the object with alloc/init) self: <Person: 0x3d01a10> (At the start of this method) tempPerson: <Person: 0x3b1b880> (When I create the tempPerson) self: <Person: 0x3b1b880> (after i point self to the location of the tempPerson) self.person: <Person: 0x3d01a10> (After the method back in the main program) What am I missing?

  • Creating 1 page PDF of iPad Screen view - How?

    - by user314695
    Hi All, I've asked this question on a couple other forums and have had zero response, so I'm hoping someone here can help point me in the right direction. I have a pretty simple one screen application for my work. It's basically just a recreation of a 1 page paper report that has a company logo, some labels, a few text boxes and a scroll text box for the report. I need to be able to fill out the report then click a button to save it in a graphical form so I can fax, print or email it later. Currently, I'm just programmatically taking a screen capture and saving it to the photo's library (default for screen capture). Then I can just email it from photo's. This works ok, but is kind of hacky, at best. I've read through the new iPad 3.2 guide for creating PDF's (apparently it's supposed to be much easier than before) but I can not get it to work and I've spent countless hours on it now. I'm hoping someone has the answer for me. Alternatively, if anyone knows how I can redirect where the screen capture is stored (default is in the photo album) then maybe I can make that function work. If I could redirect the screen capture to store in my applications document folder, then I can use MFMailCompose to attach it to an email. Lastly, on a side note, does anyone know of a good way to capture a digital signature via touch. For instance, I'd love to have my users be able to just sign their name via touch at the bottom of the document before I convert to PDF or take a screen capture. Thanks in advance for your help. -Ray

  • Core Data No Longer Updating Sqlite Schema

    - by nefsu
    I am using core data for my app and I never had any problems adding or removing columns until recently. But now even if I make changes to my xcdatamodel and generate new and updated entity h/m files, sqlite doesn't seem to be picking up the changes. I actually went over to the documents folder and inspected the create statement for the relevant tables in sqlite3 and I was able to confirm that the columns I added were missing. I removed and redeployed the app several times to no avail. Is it possible to do something to the app to make it disregard any schema changes being made through xcdatamodel? I guess another thing I should mention is I recently started putting my entire projects folder in CVS so I wonder if something got messed up in the checkin and check out process.

  • UIButton setBackgroundImage consumes doesn't release memory?

    - by just_another_coder
    My UIButton has it's background image set like this: [myImageButton setBackgroundImage:[UIImage imageNamed:myImageName] forState:UIControlStateNormal]; myImageButton is a retained property of the class, and is setup with IB. No where else is it accessed in the app. myImageName is simply an NSString with a filename like @"myImage_number_1.png" I am loading large images, 1024 x 1024 in size. When the view is shown, it changes the image with the above statement, then available memory decreases. After I see the view about 7-9 different times, the app crashes with a memory warning. I thought the method would free up the loaded image. The view itself is only instantiated and allocated one time, so it's not in the retain/release cycle if the view controller. Is there something about this setBackgroundImage I don't know that causes it to not release memory?

  • Keyboard not dismissed

    - by sgosha
    I am developing a messaging application that have SMS.app-like UI. Conversation screen has text input field at the bottom which is moved up with keyboard. Tapping on conversation area dismisses keyboard by calling resignFirstResponder method on UITextView that we use. This usually works fine, but users report a weird bug which I can't reproduce and fix. People say that sometimes onscreen keyboard doesn't go away when they tap on conversation area, though text input field loses input focus. Once the view enters that abnormal state users are able to type with keyboard, but text that is being entered is not visible anywhere. This bug happens in one of conversation views and since then no one text input field in other views doesn't work as expected. The only way to stop this weird behavior is killing application from multitasking bar. Even more weird thing is that keyboard stays visible while navigating between view controllers in UINavigationController. I noticed two things: - if tap on ' Anyone else experiencing same problems. Any ideas on what may cause this bug?

  • How to set background color of tableView

    - by Praveen
    Hi Folks, I have tried all the way but could not succeed to set backgroundColor of TableView. setting tableView.backgroundColor and/or cell.backgroundColor to clearColor didn't work when the parent view controller was UIViewContoller. My nib file structure is FileOwner View UITableView (Note: i set the TableView to groupedTable section) First attempt, I created the UIView in the code viewDidLoad UIView *view = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, 160, 300)] autorelease; [view setBackgroundColor:UIColor blueColor]; // color it just to see if it is created at the right place [self.tableView sendSubViewToBack:view]; It works but it hides the content of cell. I am able to see the content of header but not cell content. (But when i change the co-ordinate of view(0,150,160,300) then i am able to see the cell's content but then it loose the backgroundColor of tableview. Second attempt, I created the imageView View ImageView UITableView and set the self.tableView.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; but did not work. I googled but did not the peaceful answer.
