  Olá pessoal! Este ano de 2010 foi realmente muito bom. A NBR cresceu consideravelmente, eu tive algumas mudanças no meu trabalho, me casei, comprei um apartamento e tudo mais. Definitivamente, este ano ficará marcado para sempre. Fiz diversos amigos, dentro da comunidade Microsoft também. O melhor ainda é que as perspectivas para 2011 são ainda mais positivas. E pelo que estou vendo, este sentimento é comum a muitos amigos por aí, o que me deixa mais feliz ainda. Sem mais, desejo a todos um feliz ano de 2011, que muitos objetivos e conquistas sejam alcançados. Indepentende de tecnologias, linguagens ou religiões, que cada um faça o seu melhor, para garantir o melhor a sua volta. Espero que todos sigam duas palavras: MUDANÇAS e EMPREENDEDORISMO.   SharePoint 2010 Training: more information What is a replaceable parameter? Sometimes you may see something like $SharePoint.Project.AssemblyFullName$ in your code. Visual studio is doing some magic to replace it during compile/build time with the full assembly signature. The following apply to these tokens or replaceable parameters - Tokens can be specified anywhere in a line. Tokens cannot span multiple lines. The same token may be specified multiple times on the same line and in the same file. Different tokens may be specified on the same line. Tokens that do not follow these rules are ignored without providing a warning or error. The replacement of tokens by string values is done immediately after manifest transformation, thus allowing manifest templates edited by a user to use tokens. • Getting started with Team Foundation Server

  At work, we recently started using Team Foundation Server to manage our source code, i have no idea how to use this system. I do not know even know how to check source code in and out. Does anyone know of a step-by-step tutorial on how to work with TFS? Just for basic operations e.g. get latest version, upload your changes, etc. I am accessing it from Visual Studio 2010. I also have access to the TFS web interface.

• Impatient Customers Make Flawless Service Mission Critical for Midsize Companies

  At times, I can be an impatient customer. But I’m not alone. Research by The Social Habit shows that among customers who contact a brand, product, or company through social media for support, 32% expect a response within 30 minutes and 42% expect a response within 60 minutes! 70% of respondents to another study expected their complaints to be addressed within 24 hours, irrespective of how they contacted the company. I was intrigued when I read a recent blog post by David Vap, Group Vice President of Product Development for Oracle Service Cloud. It’s about “Three Secrets to Innovation” in customer service. In David’s words: 1) Focus on making what’s hard simple 2) Solve real problems for real people 3) Don’t just spin a good vision. Do something about it  I believe midsize companies have a leg up in delivering on these three points, mainly because they have no other choice. • forked-daapd without avahi

  I'm trying to setup forked-daapd, but i'd prefer it if i could run it without avahi (or rather define my own avahi service instead of using the dbus api). The reason is that i want a netatalk share for my time machine backups and a samba share for the symbolic link support (netatalk doesn't support symlinks). Those two are defined as different services in avahi. To make that work, i have to disable avahi's dbus api, or else netatalk tends to take over all the services (osx prefers afp over smb). If I now try to start forked-daapd, it just doesn't. Forked-daapd requires avahi's dbus api to be enabled and running. Is there some sort of way around this limitation, so that i can manually define my own daap service in avahi. Maybe something like enabling but ignoring the dbus in avahi, or launching a duplicate avahi daemon with a different config file?

• My Generation Drivers DropdownList Empty

  I just installed MyGeneration 1.3.1 on my Windows Vista, and when I try to setup the default settings there are no drivers to select from. but it's OK in my Windows XP machine. At last I got the answers from search engine, it is caused by multi .Net Frameworks coexist and MyMeta.dll is registered by the .Net v2.0 while it should be registered with the .Net v4.0. So we have to manually register the dll. Please follow these steps: 1. Run Visual Studio Command Prompt (2010) with "Run as Administrator". 2. Enter the command "regasm.exe "C:\Program Files\MyGeneration13\MyMeta.dll" /tlb: MyMeta.tlb" 3. Exit Command Prompt when successfully registered. 4. • C# Dev - I've tried Lisps, but I don't get it.

  After a few months of learning about and playing with lisps, both CL and a bit of Clojure, I'm still not seeing a compelling reason to write anything in it instead of C#. I would really like some compelling reasons, or for someone to point out that I'm missing something really big. The strengths of a Lisp (per my research): Compact, expressive notation - More so than C#, yes... but I seem to be able to express those ideas in C# too. Implicit support for functional programming - C# with LINQ extension methods: mapcar = .Select( lambda ) mapcan = .Select( lambda ).Aggregate( (a,b) = a.Union(b) ) car/first = .First() cdr/rest = .Skip(1) .... etc. Lambda and higher-order function support - C# has this, and the syntax is arguably simpler: "(lambda (x) ( body ))" versus "x = ( body )" "#(" with "%", "%1", "%2" is nice in Clojure Method dispatch separated from the objects - C# has this through extension methods Multimethod dispatch - C# does not have this natively, but I could implement it as a function call in a few hours Code is Data (and Macros) - Maybe I haven't "gotten" macros, but I haven't seen a single example where the idea of a macro couldn't be implemented as a function; it doesn't change the "language", but I'm not sure that's a strength DSLs - Can only do it through function composition... but it works Untyped "exploratory" programming - for structs/classes, C#'s autoproperties and "object" work quite well, and you can easily escalate into stronger typing as you go along Runs on non-Windows hardware - Yeah, so? Outside of college, I've only known one person who doesn't run Windows at home, or at least a VM of Windows on *nix/Mac. (Then again, maybe this is more important than I thought and I've just been brainwashed...) The REPL for bottom-up design - Ok, I admit this is really really nice, and I miss it in C#. Things I'm missing in a Lisp (due to a mix of C#, .NET, Visual Studio, Resharper): Namespaces. Even with static methods, I like to tie them to a "class" to categorize their context (Clojure seems to have this, CL doesn't seem to.) Great compile and design-time support the type system allows me to determine "correctness" of the datastructures I pass around anything misspelled is underlined realtime; I don't have to wait until runtime to know code improvements (such as using an FP approach instead of an imperative one) are autosuggested GUI development tools: WinForms and WPF (I know Clojure has access to the Java GUI libraries, but they're entirely foreign to me.) GUI Debugging tools: breakpoints, step-in, step-over, value inspectors (text, xml, custom), watches, debug-by-thread, conditional breakpoints, call-stack window with the ability to jump to the code at any level in the stack (To be fair, my stint with Emacs+Slime seemed to provide some of this, but I'm partial to the VS GUI-driven approach) I really like the hype surrounding Lisps and I gave it a chance. But is there anything I can do in a Lisp that I can't do as well in C#? It might be a bit more verbose in C#, but I also have autocomplete. What am I missing? Why should I use Clojure/CL?

• Web Usage Policies at "Best Companies to Work For"

  For any company that has made it onto a "Best Companies to Work For" list* in 2010 that hires programmers, what restrictions on web usage do they have in place? Does that company view unrestricted internet access as a benefit to their employees even if they might use it for non-work related reasons? If you can provide a link to back up this information, even better. (* I don't want to promote any specific publication, but they are easy enough to find.) My hypothesis is that a company that aspires to be one of the best needs to provide fairly unrestricted internet access and I'm trying to test it.

• API design and versioning using EJB

  I have an API that is EJB based (i.e. there are remote interfaces defined) that most of the clients use. As the client base grows there are issues with updates to the API and forcing clients to have to update to the latest version and interface definition. I would like to possibly look at having a couple versions of the API deployed at a time (i.e. have multiple EAR files deployed with different versions of the API) to support not forcing the clients to update as frequently. I am not concerned about the actual deployment of this, but instead am looking for thoughts and experiences that others have on using EJB's as an API client. How do you support updating versions, are clients required to update? Does anyone run multiple versions in a production environment? Are there pro's cons? Any other experiences or thoughts on this approach, and having an EJB centric API?

  I am looking for a conference or training which will give me a broad exposure to enterprise level software architecture. I've been with the same company for 10 years and we've grown to the size where we really need to lay out a framework for the applications which support our company's business. The organic growth over the last 10 years has left us with a tightly coupled and fairly messy set of applications. We need to do a better job at componentizing our business entities and have more rigorous control on the interfaces between those entities and our business processes. I'm looking to get a broad, yet practical exposure on design patterns to support that architecture (SOA, messaging, ESB's etc). I'm hoping to gain insight from folks who have direct experience with implementing or working with what would be considered an enterprise class architecture.

  Hi, I was wondering if you have any tipps on the following situation. I'm going to move a large website to a new Content Management System, here are some details on the site: online news magazine with roughly 3,000 articles domain age: 10 years online in the current form since May 2010 indexed pages: ~10.000 percent of search engine traffic: under 10% Unfortunately a custom-tailored CMS was used for the site. The performance, reliability and SEO capabilites have been really bad, so we are moving to a new and proven open source CMS. All the articles will be kept as they are, but the URL structure as well as the structure of the HTML templates will be changed. What I wanted to do now is to actually create 301 redirects for all articles from the old to the new schema, i.e: Old: www.example.com/en/html/news/detail/title-of-the-article/ New: www.example.com/category/title-of-article.html Is this a proven way to do something like this? If not, can you recommend a way that has worked for you? Thanks :)

Last year I built a near- realtime machine management system using WF 4.0.1 – its managing the internal operations of this device: http://landanano.com/products/commercial   Well WF 4.5 has come a long way – many of my gripes have been addressed: C# expressions - no more VB 'AndAlso' clauses state machine awesomeness - can query current state many designer improvements - Document Outline is so much more succinct than Designer! A new HTML5 ActivityDesigner control – support with different CSS3  skinnable hooks,  remote connectivity (had to roll my own) A data flow view – crucial to understanding the big picture Ability to refactor a Sequence to custom activity in a separate .xaml file – like Expression Blend does for UserControl state machine global error handling - if all states goto an error state, you quickly get visual spagetti. Now you could nest a state machine, but what if you want an application level protocol whereby each state exposes certain WCF ops. DSL RAD editing - Make the Document Outline into a DSL editor for adding activities  – For WF to really succeed as a higher level of abstraction, It needs to be more productive than raw coding - drag & drop on the designer is currently too slow compared to just typing code. Extensible Wizard API - for pluggable WF editor experience other execution models beyond Sequence, Flowchart & StateMachine: SSIS, Behavior Trees,  Wolfram Model tool – surprise us! improvements to Designer debugging API - SourceLocation is tied to XAML file line number and char position, and ModelService access seems convoluted - why not leverage WPF LogicalTreeHelper / VisualTreeHelper ? • Dimming the backlight is irreversible on a Samsung Q210 notebook, what do I do?

  I'm new to the community, although I have been using Ubuntu since 2010. I have a Samsung Q210 notebook; Specs: Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU P8400 @ 2.26GHz × 2 4 Gigs RAM Nvidia 9200m GS (although system information in Ubuntu doesn't know) 194 GB HD OS: Ubuntu 11.10 Kernel is 3.0.0-12-generic-pae Although Samsung seems to be infamous for problems with Ubuntu, after upgrading to Oneiric, finally the FN Brightness Buttons are recognized. The only problem is, after dimming the backlight for a fixed amount of steps (3 or 4, I dare not count now because that would mean rebooting because I can't see anything), the display goes completely dark and using the FN buttons to brighten the backlight does not work anymore (before reaching that threshold, going brighter after dimming works). Now what do I do? File a bug report? If not, what then? If yes, how? Not sure... guess I should ask here first.. thanks for answering in advance.

Both times, it failed in the middle of process. This is the error.   There is now available the new version of the VirtualBox Demonstration Image, "BIC2g 2012-10" for Partners; including support for OBI, Exalytics, BI Applications, and EPM Hyperion applications. This is a demonstration, training and POV image that contains BI/Exalytics, BI Applications, and EPM product (software). It was originally developed to support internal Oracle Exalytics training, and has been expanded to include BI Applications. It is an OVA virtual appliance that can be imported into VirtualBox.
