• Installing PostGIS on Windows

  I've installed PostgreSQL and PostGIS, and now I'm trying to follow these instructions: http://docs.djangoproject.com/en/dev/ref/contrib/gis/install/#spatialdb-template But I keep getting the following error, both in the command prompt and in Cygwin: C:\Users\Home>createdb -E UTF8 template_postgis createdb: could not connect to database postgres: could not connect to server: No such file or directory Is the server running locally and accepting connections on Unix domain socket "/tmp/.s.PGSQL.5432"? And I know PostgreSQL is running, because I'm using it right now! Installing open source applications can sometimes be so frustrating... I'll be very grateful for your help!

• Get objc_exception_throw when setting cookie with ASIHTTPRequest

  I got objc_exception_throw when trying to set cookies for a ASIHTTPRequest request. I tried both of these but it didn't work out. • Grails searchable plugin

  Hi, In my Grails app, I'm using the Searchable plugin for searching/indexing. I want to write a Compass/Lucene query that involves multiple domain classes. Within that query when I want to refer to the id of a class, I can't simply use 'id' because all classes have an 'id' property. Currently, I work around this problem by adding the following property to a class Foo public Long getFooId() { return id } static transients = ['fooId'] Then when I want to refer to the id of Foo within a query I use 'fooId'. Is there a way I can provide an alias for a property in the searchable mapping rather than adding a property to the class?

• Is there a dictionary about common programming vocabulary?

  When I need a name for a new class that extends behaviour of an existing class, I usually have hard time to come up with a name for it. For example, if I have a class MyClass, then the new class could be named something like MyClassAdapter, MyClassCalculator, MyClassDispatcher, MyClassParser,... This new name should of course represent the behaviour of the class and would ideally be same as the design pattern in which it is used (Adapter, Decorator, Factory,...). But since we don't overuse design patterns, this is not always the solution :) So, do you know for a dictionary or a list of common words, that we can use to represent the behaviour of the class, containing a short description of the expected behaviour? Some examples: replicator, shadow, token, acceptor, worker, mapper, driver, bucket, socket, validator, wrapper, parser, verifier,... You could also look at this list as a cheat sheet for metaphors, with which you can better understand your problem domain.

• .NET - downloading multiple pages from a website with a single DNS query

  I'm using HttpRequest to download several pages from a website (in a loop). Simplifying it looks like this: HttpWebRequest req = (HttpWebRequest)HttpWebRequest.Create( "http://sub.domain.com/something/" + someString ); HttpWebResponse resp = (HttpWebResponse)req.GetResponse(); //do something I'm not quite sure actually but every request seems to resolve the address again (I don't know how to test if I'm right). I would like to boost it a little and resolve the address once and then reuse it for all requests. I can't work out how to force HttpRequest into using it, though. I have tried using Dns.GetHostAddresses, converting the result to a string and passing it as the address to HttpWebRequest.Create. Unfortunately, server returns error 404 then. I managed to google that's probably because the "Host" header of the http query doesn't match what the server expects. Is there a simple way to solve this?

• jQuery fadeIn IE Png Issue when loading from external

  I am loading data from external html files within my domain into a div on my webpage using a load content method in jQuery. I take the div out of the new page whilst hiding the div in the current page by fading this out and fading the new one in. There is a png image in both of these divs and it is creating horrid black blobs in IE, works fine in other browsers but due to IEs inability to process multiple filters its making a mess. I tried using the unit png fix to no avail, does anyone have any fixes or ideas to help keep my pngs looking nice during this transition? i46.tinypic.com/t9dtvr.jpg this is a screenshot of the problem, cheers also discovered that the png that is on the page originaly (before loading anything new) fades in and out perfectly using the unit png fix but stuff loading in and then back out from external files doesnt. Ive added the fix to those pages too but that doesnt work either.

When i use openquery i can overcome this by setting this: SET FMTONLY OFF. Does anyone know if there's a similar workaround for my problem?

• default webmail url workaround

  Hi, Is there a way or at least a workaround on masking default webmail urls or disabling access webmail urls so users will not be able to change their passwords? Website is PHP based and is using apache server under a shared hosting account. The thing is that http://domain.com/webmail will let users access the main panel where they can change their individual passwords. We do not need this. Most solutions point to changing httpd.conf which we are not allowed to change since this is on a shared hosting service. I'm looking for at least a workaround to this issue. How about disabling it through their browsers if my client is under a network server, this would be a decent workaround isn't it? or are there any more suggestions aside from this? Please help. This is my urgent issue. Thank you very much!

• How to register XHTML namespaces??

  My page use to validate for XHTML but I added the addthis buttons to page and it gives a new namespace: E.G.: <a addthis:url="http://domain.tld/path/to/stuff" addthis:title="Teh Title here"> I tried: <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xmlns:addthis="http://addthis.com/" lang="en"> Doesn't work. Can we register namespaces for the validator??? I AM EMOTIONALLY ATTACHED TO VALID XHTML. I like addthis, I think its the best button of its kind (yes, I need to use the namespace properties, I know you dont have to but I do for what im doing PHP project) :(

• Possible to link an image in a playlist to a URL, with Flowplayer?

  I have a simple Flowplayer playlist. First one plays a short clip, which then cuts off, and an image is displayed. • MX Records - go to two servers?

  Right now I have a single mail server for IMAP. Let's say I want to introduce Exchange but not all users will be on it. Some users will be on my "legacy" IMAP, others on the "new" Exchange. Is it possible to "split up" your users (from the same e-mail domain) on two services like this? What would the MX records look like? My guess is that this isn't possible, but thought I'd ask. By the way, I realize that Exchange can offer IMAP and all that, but my question is more about splitting users across services and the MX records. The actual protocols above are only examples.

• Track pageviews in Google Analytics on partial url of Grails application

  For my Grails application I want to set up Google Analytics to track only "partial" url's. I 'll explain: a typical Grails url consists of the following parts: domain + application-name + controller + action + id e.g. www.mydomain.com/myapp/controller/action/12345 As far as I understand for Google Analytics the page to be tracked is identified by the entire url. For my purpose I'm not interested in the id part of the url: I want to know which actions have been performed, but I need not know for which id the action was executed. And of course I would like a generic solution, because I have multiple controllers and multiple actions... Maybe some kind of filter stating "I want to track pages 3 levels deep (/myapp/controller/action)" would do? Or a filter stating "exclude everything from url after the last /"? • CruiseControl.rb: Error in plugin EmailNotifier: 501 5.1.7 Bad sender address syntax?

  Hi guys, I can't seem to figure this out. I setup my email address in cruisecontrol.rb but no matter how I set it, it always gives me this error. Current settings are: project/cruise_config.rb: project.email_notifier.emails = ['[email protected]'] project.email_notifier.from = '[email protected]' site_config.rb: ActionMailer::Base.smtp_settings = { :address => "localhost", :domain => "myemail.com", } I've even tried ActionMailer::Base.delivery_method = :sendmail Configuration.email_from = '[email protected]' Any thoughts as to why my cruisecontrol can't send an e-mail? • Import received e-mails from Outlook to MSSQL database

  How can I automatically import some data from received e-mail from Outlook to MSSQL database? So, when I receive an e-mail (from a preset sender), Outlook should be able to run an external application with the subject and body as parameter. This application will then parse the body of the e-mail and send it to database. Is it possible to set this in 'Rules and alerts' in Outlook (I don't think so)? Or is it possible to do it with macros (an example would be nice). Or else...? I am using Microsoft Outlook 2007 (no Exchange Server), let's say, that incoming mail is from @gmail domain, the externam application would probably be a C# console application, database is SQL SERVER 2005.

• Trying to execute netdom.exe from a ruby script or IRB does nothing

  I'm trying to write a script that will rename a computer and join it to a domain, and was planning to call on netdom.exe to do the dirty work. However, trying to run this utility in the script (same results in irb) does absolutely nothing. No output, no execution. I tried with backticks and with the system() method. System() returns false for everything but system("netdom") (which returns true). Backticks never return anything but an empty string. I have verified that netdom runs and works in the environment the script will be running in, and I'm calling other command-line utilities earlier in the script that work (w32tm, getmac, ping). Here's the exact line that gets executed: `netdom renamecomputer %COMPUTERNAME% /NewName:#{newname} /force` FYI, This is windows 7 x64

  How do I get multi-line text on a WPF Button using only C#? I have seen examples of using <LineBreak/> in XAML, but my buttons are created completely programmatically in C#. The number and labels on the buttons correspond to values in the domain model, so I don't think I can use XAML to specify this. I have tried the naive approach below, but it does not work. Button b = new Button(); b.Content = "Two\nLines"; or b.Content = "Two\r\nLines"; In either case, all i see is the first line ("Two") of the text.

• Subscribing to MSMQ over the internet

  I haven't been able to find a clear answer to this problem. Is there a good way to subscribe to a MSMQ through the internet? Ideally I need security both in authentication and encryption for this connection. But I would like the subscriber to act just like any other client that would be subscribed on the local network. I believe I have a couple of options here Expose the MSMQ ports publicly Put the MSMQ behind some type of WCF service (not sure if that works for a subscriber) What other options do I have? We're sitting in a .NET environment and the main problem domain that is trying to be solved is to change the remote connections from a pulling system to an event based system to reduce the load on the main server.

• Grails: JSONP callback without id and class in JSON file

  Hi, I am working on a REST based interface where people get a json file. The client needs to access the file from another Domain. I use jsonp which works so far. My problem is the rendering in Grails. At the moment I use the 'as JSON' to marshalling the object: render "${params.jsoncallback}(${user as JSON})" The Json file getting to the client inclused all attributes, incluing the id and class, which I do not want to have in there. In case it is not jsonp, I do it this way, which works great: render(contentType:'text/json'){ userName user.userName userImage user.userImage : : } So how do I get the id and class attributes out of the json when rendering "user as JSON"?   Hello all, The title might be a bit misleading, but I couldn't figure out a better title. I'm writing a simple search engine which will search on several sites for the specific domain. To be concrete: I'm writing a search engine for hardstyle livesets/aftermovies/tracks. To do I will search on the sites who provide livesets, tracks, and such. The problem here is speed, I need to pass the search query to 5-7 sites, get the results and then use my own algorithm to display the results in a sorted order. I could just "multithread" it, but it's easier said then done so I have a few questions. What would be the best solution to this problem? Should I just multithread/process this application, so I'm going to get a bit of speed-up? Are there any other solutions or I am doing something really wrong? Thanks, William van Doorn

• How to query a date in HQL (Hibernate) with Joda Time?

  I am sure that someone familiar with HQL (I am myself a newbie) can easily answer this question. In my Grails application, I have the following domain class. class Book { org.joda.time.DateTime releaseDate //I use the PersistentDateTime for persisting via Hibernate (that use a DATETIME type for MySQL DB) } In my HQL query, I want to retrieve books whose release date is included in range date1..date2 For instance I tried: DateTime date1, date2 ... def queryStr = "select * from Book as b where b.releaseDate > $date1 and b.releaseDate < $date2" def res = Book.executeQuery(queryStr) But I got the exception ...caused by: org.springframework.orm.hibernate3.HibernateQueryException: unexpected token: The error token points to date format (for instance 2009-11-27T21:57:18.010+01:00 or Fri Nov 27 22:01:20 CET 2009) I have also tried to convert date1 into a Date class without success So what is the correct HQL code ?
