• Can I move my Picasa data from one machine to another?

  I have lots of photos stored on an external hard disk. I have Picasa installed on my Windows 7 laptop and have spent a lot of time cataloging the collection, put names to faces and the like. I now have a new machine and I want all the hard work I did on my laptop to be available when I plug my external HD in to the new machine. Is there a magic spell I need to cast to make this happen? Or is all the data I need stored with the photos?

  I have a list of product skus in one column in excel. I have thousands of these skus that need to be combined in one cell separated by commas with no spaces. There are too many rows of data to use the concatenate function. Not sure how to get this done. Here's an example of what I'm working with but with 6,000+ more rows. I'm using Excel 2003. • Any need to make backup of data on Amazon S3?

  I'm hosting 200 GB of product images at S3 (this is my primary file host). Do I need to back that data up somewhere else, or is S3 safe as it is? I have been experimenting with mounting the S3 bucket to a EC2 instance, and then making a nightly rsync backup. The problem is that it's about 3 million files, so it takes a while to generate the different rsync needs. The backup actually takes about 3 days to complete. Any ideas how to do this better? (if it's even necessary?)

  I've got a problem pasting data from the result grid of SQL Server 2005 to an excel 2007 spreadsheet. I have a query in SQL Server that returns 2 columns (a number column and a text column) On one computer here i can happily copy (right-click copy) and then just right-click and paste into an excel spreadsheet. no problem. On another computer here when i try and paste into excel it splits the text column up and pastes the text into multiple columns based on spaces between words. For example if one of the rows has... Paste me please ...in it then when pasting into excel it splits the text and pastes each work into a seperate column within excel. We've tried comparing options in both SQL Server & excel with the computer it works fine on but can see no differences. Any ideas welcome Thanks

• What data should I (can I) gather to prove a .net bug in third party software?

  Our users are using a third-party system and every so often - a user might go all day without this happening, other days they may see it two or three times in seven hours - a red x will appear on screen rather than a button, field, or control. This is a .net system. Looking online I can see that this is a .net error. Problem is, our devs didn't write it, and the vendor wants proof that the problem resides with their system, not our PCs. What can we do to gather information on such an issue that would allow us to make our case to the vendor and get them to create a fix? I'm thinking of data to gather - anything from OS, memory. .net version installed etc. But I'd also like to know about error logging - if it's possible to log errors that occur in third-party systems.

  Hello All, I want to ensure I have done all I can to configure a system's disks for serious database use. The three areas I know of (any others?) to be concerned about are: I/O size: the database engine and disk's native size should either match, or the database's native I/O size should be a multiple of the disk's native I/O size. Disks that are capable of Direct Memory Access (eg. IDE) should be configured for it. When a disk says it has written data persistently, it must be so! No keeping it in cache and lying about it. I have been looking for information on how to ensure these are so for CENTOS and Ubuntu, but can't seem to find anything at all! I want to be able to check these things and change them if needed. Any and all input appreciated.

I will have to make a table in excel or access capable of looking up the stock and price trends of a particular brand through time. Trouble is, I have two independent variables (Stock, Price) and two known dependent variables (Name, Date). So, I cannot use a simple table where the x axis is the name, y axis is the time, and the cells represent a quantity - each cell have to represent two quantities (Stock, Price) Does anyone know how to do that? Basically, I am looking for a tool which has the interface similar to "time" and "/usr/bin/time", e.g. measure-net-data <prog_to_run> <prog_args> Received (b): XYZ Sent (b): ABC I know that there are many tools for bandwidth/network monitoring, but as far I can tell all of them are performing the measurements it real-time, which is inappropriate not only because of overhead but also because of the inconvenience - I would need to stop the program, capture the output of the tool and then kill it. I have seen that newer versions of Linux 2.6.20+ provide /proc/<pid>/io/ which contain the information I'm looking for; however, everything under /proc/<pid> when the process terminates, so I'm again back to the same problem as with any network monitoring tool.

  So I have looked through a lot of other answers but have not been able to get my app to work how I want it. I basically want the list view that has the text and check mark to the right, but then an addition button to the left. Right now my list view shows up but the check image is never changed.   I have a business requirement that I filter a boolean value in my ngGrid. The filter has three states: only true, only false and both. Filtering like this seems to be a common enough use case that I should refactor that functionality out of my code for re use (possibly in a directive/filter?). I'd like to know how I can go about pulling out the customFilter function in my controller and make it so that I can pass the filter a property name on which to filter, and a value for selectedFilterOption. The code currently works, but I feel like this is a good chance to get better at angular :). • using PixelBender to double the size of a bitmap

  I have a performance question about pixel bender. I want to enlarge many BitmapData (double their size into new BitmapData). I was doing this with as3, but wanted to use pixel bender to get better performance. On my machines, I get great comparative performance out of many pixel bender demonstrations. To my surprise (or bad coding / understanding), I am getting much worse performance out of pixel bender -- 2 seconds to do 3000 scalings vs .5 seconds! I expected to get at least the same performance as as3. What am I doing wrong?   I am trying to write a simple mail sender class that would receive a bunch of arguments and using those will send an email out using our Exchange 2010 server. While authentication etc. seem to work fine, I am getting the following exception when the code is actually trying to send the email (I think).   I am getting the below error from VS on an 32-bit XP Professional server even though I set Tools-Options-Database Tools-Data Connections to "SIDEKICK", which is the name of my computer. In other words SIDEKICK should default to the full SQLSERVER. In other words, I want VS to use SQLSERVER instead of SQLSERVER EXPRESS. And I can clearly see my database both from VS in the Server Explorer and also in SSMS 2008. Furthermore, I can view the tables of this database in Server Explorer from VS. I do not get any build errors. And it looks like all of the naming is consistent in my web.config file. • Issue getting camera emulation to work with Tom G's HttpCamera

  I am trying to use the android emulator to preview video from webcam. I have used the tom gibara sample code, minus the webbroadcaster (i am instead using VLC streaming via http). So, I have modified the SDK's "CameraPreview" app to use the HttpCamera, but the stream never appears. Debugging through doesn't give me any clues either. I wonder if anything obvious is clear to others? The preview app launches and remains black. • Why is processing a sorted array faster than an unsorted array?

  Here is a piece of code that shows some very peculiar performance.
