  • Eclipse doesn’t recognize style in the Android Layout builder?

    Since Android supports styles and it's good practice to use them (similar to CSS), I made a new style and applied it to 3 buttons. The Layout builder in Eclipse did not register the changes and either broke (showed nothing) or didn't apply styles at all. After running the app in the emulator, styles are correctly applied. So is there something I'm missing or the Android plugin doesn't support styles?

    Previously, Google's Friend Connect required users to upload a couple of files to their websites to enable cross domain communication and Facebook Connect still requires you to upload a single file to enabled it. Now, Friend Connect doesn't require any file upload... I was wondering how they were able to accomplish this. Of course that's because I need to recompile them in order to test them through my local Apache web server. I would like to get around this manual process by employing some automatic means of compiling them on save, or on build through Eclipse, or something like that.     Is it possible to make Visual Studio 2010's code completion window more like that of Eclipse (Java)? In particular, I'd love the code completion window to give me a variable's type, and a method's return type and expected parameters, without needing to hover the highlight over that particular variable/method. VS's code completion's little icons that indicate if something is a property, method etc are useful, but they just aren't enough.

Is there a way to pass I18n parameter into load function? google.load("jqueryui", "1.7.2") I have also tried as per jQueryUI documentation on date picker internationalization to pass: $(selector).datepicker($.datepicker.regional['pl']); ... but it did not do the trick :(

  • Vim: Use different ~/.vim/plugin/ directories for different versions of vim?

    Like many of you, my custom Vim configuration is stored in my ~/.vimrc, with the plugins, colors, etc. stored under ~/.vim/plugins, ~/.vim/colors, etc. I want to share a single Vim configuration among many servers. Some of these servers run Vim 7, some run the older Vim 6. Most Vim plugins are intended for Vim 7, but older versions still exist for those of us on older systems. See DirDiff for an example. If I am on a system which runs Vim 6, how can I configure Vim to only use Vim 6-compatible plugins? I was thinking about storing older plugins in a subdirectory like ~/.vim/plugins6/ and keep the Vim plugins in ~/.vim/plugins, but then how can I tell Vim6 to ignore ~/.vim/plugins and use ~/.vim/plugins6 instead?

    I have just installed the DuckDuckGo add-on in Firefox 11.0, running on XP SP 3. I would like to add additional parameters to the query string. However, any changes I make are not reflected in the query string when doing a search. I found the duckduckgo.xml file at C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\Profile Name.default\searchplugins. I opened it up with Notepad++ and added the line for kl=uk-en: <SearchPlugin xmlns="http://www.mozilla.org/2006/browser/search/" xmlns:os="http://a9.com/-/spec/opensearch/1.1/"> <os:ShortName>DuckDuckGo</os:ShortName> <os:Description>Search DuckDuckGo (SSL)</os:Description> <os:InputEncoding>UTF-8</os:InputEncoding> <os:Image width="16" height="16">data:image/x-icon;base64, -Removed to shorten-</os:Image> <os:Url type="text/html" method="GET" template="https://duckduckgo.com/"> <os:Param name="q" value="{searchTerms}"/> <os:Param name="kl" value="uk-en"/> </os:Url> </SearchPlugin> However, the kl=uk-en parameter does not appear in the query string when searching (despite several Firefox restarts).

  • Is there a stable email client or email client plugin that will support GMail-like conversations?

    Conversations in GMail are such an incredibly simple yet powerful way to look at mail. I get about twenty emails a day from various clients and I hate looking at a flat file of all emails, and I hate looking at "per client" email folders. With GMail I can just look at a specific conversation. I can see a few lines from each in the collapsed titles so that I can quickly remember what was said previously, and I can expand them if I need details or need to quote something. But I can't justify using GMail to handle sensitive work emails, and we need to be able to access all my emails offline. So what do I use?
