  • JRI Fatal Error on Ubuntu

    - by Peter Jackson
I have successfully installed JRI and rJava on Windows 7. I am now trying to get it to work on Ubuntu with 64bit OS. I can make rJava calls from within R but getting JRI to work is more difficult. I am running NetBeans 7.1.2 and I have followed various tricks in setting R_HOME and java.library.path to enable all the classes to be loaded. That is, I am past the error messages such as "jri library not found" and "R_HOME not set". From my java code,I can see that R_HOME = /usr/lib64/R. The error message I get now is Fatal error: you must specify '--save', '--no-save' or '--vanilla' This happens when Rengine is first called: Rengine r = new Rengine(args, false, null); This appears to be an error message from R; it seems to be expecting a command line argument. I haven't seen any posting with this error message. Any ideas? Thanks, Peter

  • How do HTTP proxy caches decide between serving identity- vs. gzip-encoded resources?

    - by mrclay
An HTTP server uses content-negotiation to serve a single URL identity- or gzip-encoded based on the client's Accept-Encoding header. Now say we have a proxy cache like squid between clients and the httpd. If the proxy has cached both encodings of a URL, how does it determine which to serve? The non-gzip instance (not originally served with Vary) can be served to any client, but the encoded instances (having Vary: Accept-Encoding) can only be sent to a clients with the identical Accept-Encoding header value as was used in the original request. E.g. Opera sends "deflate, gzip, x-gzip, identity, *;q=0" but IE8 sends "gzip, deflate". According to the spec, then, caches shouldn't share content-encoded caches between the two browsers. Is this true?

  • Tool to convert inline C' into a code behind

    - by Jon Jones
Hi I have a number of legacy web controls (ascx) that contains huge amounts of inline C#. The forms contain a number of repeated and duplicate code. Our first plan is to move the code into code behinds per file, then refactor etc... were doing this to upgrade the client to the latest version of their cms At the moment we are going to have to manually copy and paste hundreds files, convert the namespace client-side imports into usings, etc... does anybody PLEASE know of a tool that can do the majority of this work for us ? Thanks

  • Regex to test if an input string contains a certain number of characters

    - by Dan
So, I basically would like to test to see if a string contains a range of alphanumeric characters. It's to be used as a client-side validation and I don't want to prevent users from entering whatever they want. Best to give examples of what should/should not pass validation: So to be specific, the expression I'm looking for is to test to make sure string contains anywhere from 3 to 10 alphanumeric characters. I'd like to plug into an ASP.NET client side validator. NOTE: quotes not part of input (but could be!) " f o o " should pass since there are 3 chars "f_0_0" should pass " fo " should not "F......o......o......b.....a......r" should pass thx

  • BlackBerry OS 7.1 secured TLS connection is closed after very short time

    - by MrVincenzo
To make a long story short: Same client-server configuration, same network topology, same device (Bold 9900) - works perfectly well on OS 7.0 but doesn't work as expected on OS 7.1 and the secured tls connection is being closed by the server after a very short time. My application opens a secured tls connection to a server. The connection is kept alive by a application layer keep-alive mechanism and remains open until the client closes it. Attached is a simplified version of the actual code that opens connection and reads from the socket. The code works perfectly on OS 5.0-7.0 but doesn't work as expected on OS 7.1. When running on OS 7.1, the blocking read() returns with -1 (end of the stream has been reached) after very short time (10-45 seconds). For OS 5.0-7.0 the call to read() remains blocking until next data arrives and the connection is never closed by the server. Connection connection = Connector.open(connectionString); connInputStream = connection.openInputStream(); while (true) { try { retVal = connInputStream.read(); if (-1 == retVal) { break; // end of stream has been reached } } catch (Exception e ) { // do error handling } // data read from stream is handled here } UPDATE 1: Apparently, the problem appears only when I use secured tls connection (either using mobile network or WiFi) on OS 7.1. Everything works as expected when opening a non secured connection on OS 7.1. For tls on mobile networks I use the following connection string: connectionString = "tls://someipaddress:443;deviceside=false;ConnectionType=mds-public;EndToEndDesired"; For tls on Wifi I use the following connection string: connectionString = "tls://someipaddress:443;deviceside=true;interface=wifi;EndToEndRequired" UPDATE 2: The connection is never idle. I am constantly receiving and sending data on it. The issue appears both when using mobile connection and WiFi. The issue appears both on real OS 7.1 devices and simulators. I am starting to suspect that it is somehow related either to the connection string I am using or to the tls handshake. UPDATE 3: According to Wireshark's captures that I made with the OS 7.1 simulator, the secured tls connection is being closed by the server (client receives FIN). For the moment I don't have the server's private key therefore I unable to debug the tls handshake.

  • Saving a movie generated with Jython/JES on local disk

    - by Golgauth
I made an autogenerated movie clip using JES (Jython Environment for Students). I can play it without any problem using playMovie(), but I can't figure out how to have it saved physically on disk. The full script is located here. ... movie = synthesizeFrameAndCreateMovie("D:\\FOLDER") print movie writeQuicktime(movie,"D:\\FOLDER\\movie.mov", 30) [LINE 35] #playMovie(movie) I get this error when calling the function writeQuicktime(): >>> ======= Loading Progam ======= Movie, frames: 60 The error was: Index: 0, Size: 0 I wasn't able to do what you wanted. The error java.lang.IndexOutOfBoundsException has occured Please check line 35 Note : I also tried the function writeAVI(), with the exact same result. This error sounds like a java bug in Jython/JES library. I am running JES under Windows 7 and have all the common Quicktime and AVI codex installed as well as the QTjava library in my jre... Any brilliant idea ? EDIT : Also tried the Linux version with same result for both QuickTime and AVI...

  • Store form values for later submission

    - by kim griggs
I have a Rails app that lets users create tutorials and quizzes. There are many users taking the quizzes and many quizzes in a tutorial. My client wants the quiz results to persist when a student navigates away from the quiz. So the use case would be: User starts to take quiz User answers some of the questions User navigates away from quiz to check a fact in the tutorial User goes back to quiz and their answers are still there User finishes quiz and submits Now this would be pretty easy to do if I enforced a "Save" submit so that the answers could be stored in a session or whatever, but the client (and I agree) thinks people will not remember to save before navigating away. Looking for advice on how to approach this. I'm thinking an observer and cookies.

    - by user283405
i have code that uses BeautifulSoup library for parsing. But it is very slow. The code is written in such a way that threads cannot be used. Can anyone help me about this? I am using beautifulsoup library for parsing and than save in DB. if i comment the save statement, than still it takes time so there is no problem with database. def parse(self, text): soup = BeautifulSoup(text) arr = soup.findAll('tbody') for i in range(0,len(arr)-1): data=Data() soup2 = BeautifulSoup(str(arr[i])) arr2 = soup2.findAll('td') c=0 for j in arr2: if str(j).find("<a href=") > 0: data.sourceURL = self.getAttributeValue(str(j),'<a href="') else: if c == 2: data.Hits=j.renderContents() #and few others... #... c = c+1 data.save() Any suggestions? Note: I already ask this question here but that was closed due to incomplete information.

  • How can I get my div id to reload via ajax and jquery

    - by Matt Nathanson
    I'm creating a CMS using jQuery and AJAX. When I click, my "Add Campaign" buttom, it creates a unique client ID in the DB and on a hard reload, the new client shows up in its container. I am trying to use ajax to reload the container on the fly and I'm not having the exact luck i am hoping for. I can get it to reload, but it's like it's pulling in descriptions of each of the clients as well! function AddNewClient() { dataToLoad = 'clientID=' + clientID + '&addClient=yes'; $.ajax({ type: 'post', url: '/clients/controller.php', datatype: 'html', data: dataToLoad, target: ('#clientssidebar'), async: false, success: function(html){ $('#clientssidebar').html(html); }, error: function() { alert('An error occured!'); } }); };

  • Sending files through a webservice

    - by Jay
Hi, I have to send some files through a webservice in C#. The files to be sent can be from different locations i.e. there is one folder having 4 files and another folder having 5 files. Assuming i have a mechanism to select which files to send. What would be the best way to send those files? Should I be sending them one by one and let the client figure out how to put them together, or zip all the files into a single file and send that zip file to the client. If there is any other way to implement this, I would be more than happy to look into that approach too. Thanks

  • Sql query builder c# for windows mobile

    - by pdiddy
I'm building a windows mobile app. And using SqlCe. I'm looking for a good sql query builder. So instead of writing "SELECT COLUMNS FROM TABLE WHERE etc... Is there a good free library that can build this sort of query? EDIT: You know when you write your code with ADO.net something like this SqlCeCommand command = new SqlCeCommand(Connection); command.CommandText = "SELECT * FROM Orders WHERE customerId = @customerId"; Well i'm looking for some library that could build that SELECT statement using classes instead of writing it through string. So something like: SqlCeCommand command = new SqlCeCommand(Connection); SqlQueryBuilder query = new SqlQueryBuilder(); query.Table = "Orders"; query.AddWhere("customerId", myValue) command.CommandText = query.toString(); Something like that .... so a class that will build the query..

  • Class interaction

    - by user1264391
Ok so I'm doing a simulation about a "Mall" I have many classes in the same "level" which corresponds to each person's personality. For example I have the class: clown, thief, assassin, materialist, etc. in the same level And a father class called Clients. In the Client class I have some methods for eating, walking, etc. and each specific class has a specific method, the thief steals, assassin kills, etc. I was wondering how could I put every "client" in a list and still cast every specific method?

  • SVG Animation in Python? - Any options other than Things! 0.4?

    - by ThantiK
I recently gave my daughter some time on the computer, and she really likes a program called 'BabySmash!', and I also have another program that came with a keyboard attachment called 'Laugh, Smile & Learn' from playschool I think. I'm not a python guru by any stretch of the imagination and I kind of have it in my head that I want to create some sort of program in the spirit of these two, with vector animation and sounds. Thing is, it doesn't look like there are many options for vector animation in python. I found a library called Things! 0.4, but it's lacking in-depth documentation and seems to be more of an experiment in vector animation rather than a full blown solution. Are there any options that I'm not immediately finding? What other animation-libraries do you recommend? Even if the library isn't vector-based, ease of use is probably the strongest factor in my use.

  • How do I fix "java.lang.OutOfMemoryError at sun.misc.Unsafe.allocateMemory(Native Method)"?

    - by Jephir
I'm making a Java application that uses the Slick library to load images. However, on some computers, I get this error when trying to run the program: Exception in thread "main" java.lang.OutOfMemoryError at sun.misc.Unsafe.allocateMemory(Native Method) at java.nio.DirectByteBuffer.<init>(DirectByteBuffer.java:99) at java.nio.ByteBuffer.allocateDirect(ByteBuffer.java:288) at org.lwjgl.BufferUtils.createByteBuffer(BufferUtils.java:60) at org.newdawn.slick.opengl.PNGImageData.loadImage(PNGImageData.java:692) at org.newdawn.slick.opengl.CompositeImageData.loadImage(CompositeImageData.java:62) at org.newdawn.slick.opengl.CompositeImageData.loadImage(CompositeImageData.java:43) My VM options are: -Djava.library.path=lib -Xms1024M -Xmx1024M -XX:PermSize=256M -XX:MaxPermSize=256M The program loads a few large images (1024 x 768 resolution) at the beginning. Any help to solve this problem would be greatly appreciated.

  • Can Connect to 3G Modem via GSMComm but cannot see any SMS

    - by user305044
Hi, I'm trying to write an application that receives SMS messages into the app I'm developing (in C# if you care :). Research indicates the best bet is to use GSMComm library. I've downloaded the library and using the demo app I have managed to connect to the 3g modem (a Huawei E1756) but when I query it for SMS's received it comes back with 0. Interestingly if I use the software that comes with the application then I can see the messages. Anyone got any clues on why this would be? Or other tips on how to retrieve the messages? Cheers, Kym

  • TcpListener problem - re-binding to same port with different local addresses

    - by Zvika
I'm trying to do the following: listen on some port for loopback connections only, and then start listening on any IP address. Here is the code: TcpListener l1 = new TcpListener(new IPEndPoint(IPAddress.Loopback, 12345)); l1.Start(); Socket s = l1.AcceptSocket(); Console.ReadKey(); //s.Close(); l1.Stop(); TcpListener l2 = new TcpListener(new IPEndPoint(IPAddress.Any, 12345)); l2.Start(); l2.AcceptSocket(); Console.ReadKey(); The problem is that if a client connects while listening on the Loopback address (l1), then no other client can connect to the Loopback address when the second listener (l2) starts listening. why is that? Another thing I noticed is that if I close all clients that connected to l1 (the remarked line), then l2 does accept loopback connections. Any ideas?

  • How can I collapse a dataframe by some variables, taking mean across others

    - by Alex Holcombe
I need to summarize a data frame by some variables, ignoring the others. This is sometimes referred to as collapsing. E.g. if I have a dataframe like this: Widget Type Energy egg 1 20 egg 2 30 jap 3 50 jap 1 60 Then collapsing by Widget, with Energy the dependent variable, Energy~Widget, would yield Widget Energy egg 25 jap 55 In Excel the closest functionality might be "Pivot tables" and I've worked out how to do it in python (http://alexholcombe.wordpress.com/2009/01/26/summarizing-data-by-combinations-of-variables-with-python/), and here's an example with R using doBy library to do something very related (http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg02643.html), but is there an easy way to do the above? And even better is there anything built into the ggplot2 library to create plots that collapse across some variables?

  • .NET System.Net.Mail messages are always being flagged junk, on internal server.

    - by jamone
    I'm using System.Net.Mail to send out a few emails. The emails are being sent by our internal mail server to local addresses. However all of the messages are going straight to junk in Outlook. The messages are being sent from valid email addresses. What would be causing our our servers to label it as junk? MailMessage msg = new MailMessage(); msg.IsBodyHtml = true; msg.Subject = subject; msg.Body = body; msg.From = new MailAddress(from); msg.To.Add(to); SmtpClient client = new SmtpClient(server, 25); client.Send(msg);

  • How to write to an XML file from the iPad OS?

    - by user345474
I am developing an app for IPad, and I need to modify several attributes in a XML file at runtime. I found the class NSXMLDocument, http://developer.apple.com/mac/library/documentation/cocoa/reference/foundation/Classes/NSXMLDocument_Class/Reference/Reference.html But I haven't been able to import it to my project. Is this class not available for IPhone/IPad development? Is there some other approach I can consider? I read about libxml library. Is it my answer or there is a better approach?

  • Get current session /process id from inside a mysql query

    - by Indra Ginanjar
I'm trying to create a table for pseudo array variable. That looks like CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS `MyArray`.`ArrayTable` ( `ID` INT UNSIGNED NOT NULL COMMENT 'Hash value of SessionID + ArrayName' , `SessionID` INT UNSIGNED NOT NULL , `ArrayName` CHAR(26) NOT NULL COMMENT '32 digit char - 6 digit longest process id (assumtion)' , `Index` INT UNSIGNED NOT NULL , `Value` TEXT NOT NULL , PRIMARY KEY (`ID`, `SessionID`) ) ENGINE = MyISAM; The table is not normalized yet, 'hope this will make it a little simpler to understand :) To avoid collission between client, there should be a differentiator between client session. For that reason i think need to know current session/process id (just like "SHOW PROCESSLIST") but really need to know IN WHICH process the query are?

  • How to set up dynamically Part in MultipartRequestEntity

    - by ee_vin
Hello, I'm using commons-httpclient-3.1 inside my android application. And I would like to know if it possible to manipulate Part (org.apache.commons.httpclient.methods.multipart.Part) dynamically? Essentially adding new FilePart and new StringPart at runtime before sending the request. Every example I've found until now suppose that you know how many fields you are dealing with. Ex: File f = new File("/path/fileToUpload.txt"); PostMethod filePost = new PostMethod("http://host/some_path"); Part[] parts = { new StringPart("param_name", "value"), new FilePart(f.getName(), f) }; filePost.setRequestEntity( new MultipartRequestEntity(parts, filePost.getParams()) ); HttpClient client = new HttpClient(); int status = client.executeMethod(filePost); code from http://hc.apache.org/httpclient-3.x/apidocs/org/apache/commons/httpclient/methods/multipart/MultipartRequestEntity.html Android specific thread: http://groups.google.com/group/android-developers/browse_thread/thread/0f9e17bbaf50c5fc Thank you

  • How to get server message correctly

    - by Leo
Problem I send the message "12345" from the socket server to the client: myPrintWriter.println("12345"); After that I read this message on client: int c; while ((c = inputStream.read( )) != -1) { byte[] buffer2 = new byte[1]; buffer2[0] = (byte) c; String symbol = new String(buffer2 , "UTF-8"); String symbolCode = Integer.toString((int)buffer2[0]); Log.v(symbol, symbolCode); } Log.v("c == -1", "Disconnected"); What I see in log: With out.println("abcrefg"); Why? I think it's line termination symbol. I need to get string "12345" or any other and next strings correctly. Help me please.
