  • Calling a WCF WebService in PHP via wsHttpBinding.

    I have a WCF webservice I can connect to it via basicHttp, but not wsHttp. I try to conenct to it via wshttp via the following: $service = new SoapClient ("http://service.companyname.local:6666/Service/?wsdl", array( "location" => "http://service.companyname.local:6666/Service/WCF", "trace" => true, 'soap_version' => SOAP_1_2 ) ); The call to the SoapClient constructor returns fine. When I try to call one using $client-FunctionName, the page just sits there loading for quite a while, and eventually returns the error "Error Fetching http headers". What exactly is this supposed to mean and how do I fix it? (Consuming the service from .Net client works perfectly.)

  • Pitfalls when converting C++/CLI to C++

    I have a library written in C++/CLI and I want to open it up. I want it to be as cross-platform as possible and be able to write bindings to it for other languages to use (Java, Python, etc, etc). To do this, the library needs to be in plain C++ for maximum flexibility. I figure that the logical structures are already there, I just need to replace the .NET libraries it uses with the standard C++ ones. Is this a misguided notion? What should I watch out for when making this transition?

    Hi. I've read 3 descriptions of the command design pattern: wikipedia, dofactory and source making. In all of them, the UML shows a relation between the client to the receiver & the concrete command, but no relation to the invoker. But in all 3 examples the client is the one that initiates the invoker and call its Execute method. I think that should be a relation to the invoker as well. Am I missing somthing in here? Maybe even a basic UML knowladge?

  • m and s keys do not work over vnc connection to ubuntu server

    I'm new at setting a lot of this up, so bear with me. I installed Ubuntu 10.4 server on a 64 bit machine. Then I added vnc so I could manage it while it's racked. I start the server, SSH to it, and run vncserver :1 At this point, all keys work fine. Next I exit out of the SSH session and fire up my client vnc app. I connect via the IP :1, enter my password, and everything seems to be fine. Now when I enter a terminal (through the vnc connection) I cannot type lowercase "s" or "m" (upper case works). I've tried on two different pc's running the vnc client, but it's the same. I also installed the latest updates from Ubuntu as of today. Thanks for any help.

    In Visual Studio 2008 project properties, Application tab, I can set the Output type to Windows Application, Console Application, or Class Library. I have a project that I want to build as a stand-alone tool (console app) and be available to a couple other tools I'm working on as a class library. The VS GUI only lets me choose one or the other, and building the proj twice all the time is inconvenient. How can I set it up to build both output types in a single build job? Do I write some custom MSBuild .targets file or what?

Our plan is to use a pre-made library just for this purpose, but we haven't found any good one after days of searching the internet, so I thought I would consider a question here! So the question is: What library / project do you recommend? We are deadly serious with this, so it needs to be a good working one. Preferable an open-source one as well. We have been looking at some XMPP libraries and projects, but none seems to be up-to-date, tested and well-documented.

    It is possible to make a C# base class accessible only within the library assembly it's compiled into, while making other subclasses that inherit from it public? For example: using System.IO; class BaseOutput: Stream // Hidden base class { protected BaseOutput(Stream o) { ... } ...lots of common methods... } public class MyOutput: BaseOutput // Public subclass { public BaseOutput(Stream o): base(o) { ... } public override int Write(int b) { ... } } Here I'd like the BaseOutput class to be inaccessible to clients of my library, but allow the subclass MyOutput to be completely public. I know that C# does not allow base classes to have more restrictive access than subclasses, but is there some other legal way of achieving the same effect?

  • Fiddler2 to debug SL

    I have a SL3 + Ria service application that I want to trace what is are the calls made between the client and the server. Since I am debugging the application in localhost, I am unable to see any trace in fiddler. I tried http://localhost.:port/websitename/page.aspx and I got "The requested URL could not be retrieved" message. If i remove '.' between localhost and port my page show up but there is no fiddler capture. How would one go about to see/capture all the calls made between the client and service in localhost?   • compiling QGIS Plugin using make

    On a fresh mac os x 10.8 install, i've Quantum GIS Installed from Kingchaos binaries and running fine. I'm trying to develop a plugin for QGIS, and using Plugin Builder. The skel that Plugin Builder, produces, should work off-the-shelf, but it does not compile using the makefile. Somewhere python can't find (pyuic.py), and it searches for (/Users/kyngchaos/...), path.   • Devise role based routing

    I have an app with multiple users. Each user as a theoretical role (user, client, etc). I've designed a view/controller for each user type. I want to be able to login each type of user do a different root url and lock them to it. Originally I was going to add a column to Users in Devise called role and so I can differentiate the users. The problem I'm having is how to say in routes.rb if current_user.role == "client" root :to = 'controller#index' Once they are logged in to the page I also want to keep them from being able to visit any of my other paths ie: domain.com/calls domain.com/units I've been looking into cancan to run alongside Devise but I'm not sure if this is the answer.

    Guys, I have been looking for a portable method to digitally sign arbitrary text which can be placed in a document and distributed while maintaining its verifiable origin. Here is an example: a = 'some text' a.sign(<private key>) # => <some signature in ASCII format> The contents of a can now be distributed freely. If a receiver wants to check the validity of said text they can do the following: b = 'some text' b.valid(<public key>, <signature supplied with text>) # => true/false Is there any library out there that already offers this kind of functionality?   • Chat Server with sockets in C

    I'm trying to write a chat server in C that allows communication between two clients using POSIX sockets. I'm not sure I have a good grasp on this concept or how I should set up the communication protocol between the clients and the server. I know I need one socket to bind() the server port to so I can accept incoming connections from clients, but in order to have two clients connected at the same time do I need to create a socket for each of these clients when I accept() or should I accept() a client and then fork() so I can have another client accept? I'm not worried about concurrent chatting yet, it's more of a ping-pong approach where the clients need to wait for a recv() after they send() before they can type a new message.

    Hi, I use LINQ to SQL to get data from a database and use a service contract to access it in Silverlight at the client side. I display the data in a DataGrid. Now how do I make sure that any changes in the datagrid is written back to the database? EDIT: This is the example code I implemented: http://www.silverlight.net/learn/tutorials/sqldatagrid-cs/ Here I wanted any change in the datagrid reflected back in the database. The SubmitChanges function works in the DataContext object which is: public partial class DataClasses1DataContext : System.Data.Linq.DataContext But this is not exposed in the contract and so not visible in the client side code.

    I have a source code of a library which has a lot of strange IF, ELSE, FOR, etc. macros for all common C-keywords instead of using just usual if,else,for,while keywords. These macros are defined like this: #define IF( a) if( increment_if(), a) where increment_if() function is defined so: static __inline void increment_if( void) { // If the "IF" operator comes just after an "ELSE", its counter // must not be incremented. ... //implementation } I don't really understand, what is the purpose of such macros? This library is for a real-time application and I suppose that using such macros must slow-down an application.

  • Even lighter than SQLite

    I've been looking for a C++ SQL library implementation that is simple to hook in like SQLite, but faster and smaller. My projects are in games development and there's definitely a cutoff point between needing to pass the ACID test and wanting some extreme performance. I'm willing to move away from SQL string style queries, allowing it to be code driven, but I haven't found anything out there that provides SQL like flexibility while also preferring performance over the ACID test. I don't want to go reinventing the wheel, and the idea of implementing an SQL library on my own is quite daunting, even if it's only going to be simple subset of all the calls you could make. I need the basic commands (SELECT, MODIFY, DELETE, INSERT, with JOIN, and WHERE), not data operations (like sorting, min, max, count) and don't need the database to be atomic, or even enforce consistency (I can use a real SQL service while I'm testing and debugging).

    I am attempting to use Android XML-RPC and for some calls I get the following exception: W/System.err( 837): java.io.IOException: Cannot serialize java.lang.Object@43759748 It looks like it is having troubles serializing the returned data, but I cannot find much documentation on how to actually use Android XML-RPC. The way I am using Android XML-RPC is as follows: Object response = (Object)client.call("sales_order.list", new Object()); This one is pretty odd. I have tried setting this call up in a few different ways (using HashMaps, not passing second variable, etc) and the response I get is that sales_order.list is not a valid Method. I have been able to login to the service using the following code: this.sessionId = (String)client.call("login", this.apiUserName, this.apiPassword); Does anyone have any ideas or a good resource on how to use Android XML-RPC? For example: Following could be the content of the Word Document {Address} {PhoneNumber} Hello {Name}, How are you doing?
