• Faulting DLL (ISAPI Filter)...

  I wrote this ISAPI filter to rewrite the URL because we had some sites that moved locations... Basically the filter looks at the referrer, and if it's the local server, it looks at the requested URL and compared it to the full referrer. If the first path is identical, nothing is done, however if not, it takes the first path from the full referrer and prepends it to the URL. For example: /Content/imgs/img.jpg from a referrer of http://myserver/wr/apps/default.htm would be rewritten as /wr/Content/imgs/img.jpg. When I view the log file, everything looks good. • Remote EJB lookup issue with WebSphere 6.1

  I've seen this question asked before, but I've tried various solutions proposed, to no avail. Essentially, I have two EJB enterprise applications, that need to communicate with one another. The first is a web application, the second is a search server - they are located on different development servers, not in the same node, cell, or JVM, although they are on the same physical box. I'm doing the JNDI lookup via IIOP, and the URL I am using is as follows: iiop://searchserver:2819 In my hosts file, I've set searchserver to 127.0.0.1. The ports for my search server are bound to this hostname too. However, when the web app (that uses Spring btw) attempts to lookup the search EJB, it fails with the following error. This is driving me nuts, surely this kind of comms between the servers should be fairly simple to get working. I've checked the ports and they are correct. I note that the exception says the initial context is H00723Node03Cell/nodes/H00723Node03/servers/server1, name: ejb/com/hmv/dataaccess/ejb/hmvsearch/HMVSearchHome. This is the web apps server NOT the search server. Is this correct? How can I get Spring to use the right context? • Has glassfish 2.1.1 a bug handling http request and handle them twice?

  I'm using glassfish 2.1.1. I've watched a mysterious http/webservice-call handling. It seams an http request is handled by two different threads. After http basic authentication the first thread is faster. Persisting some data end, but writing response fails in glassfish internal. The second thread fails, because it tries to persist identical data and there are (unique) constrain failures. The response (the failure) of second thread was delivered to client. I don't won't discuss the behavior with the unique constrain failure. I've improve the webservice, so it can handle this better, because it could be happen anytime, that the client send the ws call a second time. But I think, glassfish 2.1.1 has an bug handling http request. Is there any known issue? Have I done an mistake? • Authlogic Facebook Connect and cucumber

  I added the authlogic_facebook_connect plugin to my project and I'm now having problem running my cucumber test because of a NoMethodError. undefined method `set_facebook_session' for nil:NilClass (NoMethodError) In authlogic_facebook_connect/Session.rb the method "authenticating_with_facebook_connect?" is called as some sort of callback and the controller is defined but is missing the 'set_facebook_session' method. def authenticating_with_facebook_connect? controller.set_facebook_session attempted_record.nil? && errors.empty? && controller.facebook_session end I don't understand why the cucumber test is not loading the controller with this method.   I developed a simple bluetooth connection application in j2me. I try it on emulator, both server and client can found each other, but when I deploy the application to blackberry mobile phone and connect to a bluetoothbee device it says service search no records. What could it be possibly wrong? is it j2me can not find a service in bluetoothbee? The j2me itself succeed to found the bluetoothbee device, but why it can not find the service? My code is below.   I'm having trouble calling functions of a native library from within managed C# code. I am developing for the 3.5 compact framework (Windows Mobile 6.x) just in case this would make any difference. I am working with the waveIn* functions from coredll.dll (these are in winmm.dll in regular Windows I believe). When my callback function is called (waveIn) when the buffer is full, the hdr structure passed back in wavehdr is obviously corrupted. I do not know if Visual Studio .NET cares about actual memory order when displaying the record in the "local"-view, but they are obviously not displayed in the order I speciefied in the struct. Then theres no data pointer and the bufferLength field is far to high. Interestingly the bytesRecorded field is exactly 64000 - bufferLength and bytesRecorded I'd expect both to be 64000 though. I do not know what exactly is going wrong, maybe someone can help me out on this. I'm an absolute noob to managed code programming and marshalling so please don't be too harsh to me for all the stupid things I've propably done. Some things I tried (to no effect): .NET compact framework does not seem to support the Pack = 2^x directive in [StructLayout]. I tried [StructLayout(LayoutKind.Explicit)] and used 4 bytes and 8 bytes alignment. 4 bytes alignmentgave me the same result as the above code and 8 bytes alignment only made things worse - but that's what I expected. Interestingly if I move the code from setupBuffer into the setupWaveIn and do not declare the GCHandle in the context of the class but in a local context of setupWaveIn the struct returned by the callback function does not seem to be corrupted. I am not sure however why this is the case and how I can use this knowledge to fix my code. I'd really appreciate any good links on marshalling, calling unmanaged code from C#, etc. Then I'd be very happy if someone could point out my mistakes. What am I doing wrong? Why do I not get what I'd expect.

• Listview selects mutliple items when clicked

  I'm trying to make a task manager, and I only have one problem. I have a listview that gets inflated. All the elements in the listview are correct. The problem is that when I select an item, the listview will select another item away. I've heard listviews repopulate the list as it scrolls down to save memory. I think this may be some sort of problem. Here is a picture of the problem. If i had more apps loaded, then it would continue to select multiple at once.   I am trying to get and destroy an external process I've created via ProcessBuilder in my FXML application close, but it's not working. This is based on the helpful advice Sergey Grinev gave me here. I have tried running with/without the "// myController.setApp(this);" and with "// super.stop();" at top of subclass and at bottom (see commented out/in for that line in MyApp), but no combination works. This probably isn't related to FXML or JavaFX, though I imagine this is a common pattern for developing apps on JavaFX. I suppose I'm asking for a Java best practice for closing dependent processes in a UI-based app like this one (in this case: FXML / JavaFX based), where there is a controller class and an application class. Can you explain what I'm doing wrong? Or better: advise what I should be doing instead? Thanks. • ASP.NET application partially reading external configuration

  I have an ASP.NET web app and am attempting to reference an external config (using enterprise application blocks configuration) for some of the configuration but it is not entirely working. I previously had all of the configuration info in the web.config (and it was working), but we are wanting to share some of this configuration information between multiple apps. When I put configurationSource tag in the web.config, and read the configuration through the WebConfigurationManager object, it loads some of the external config info (Logging) but not the connectionStrings and not the custom section I created. So its reading it (logging is working), but some dots aren't being connected and my connection strings aren't coming through. Again, it worked when it was all in the web.config. Any idea what needs to change to be able to reference an external configuration source and have it all come through? • SSL confirmation dialog popup auto closes in IE8 when re-accessing a JNLP file

  I'm having this very annoying problem to troubleshoot and have been going at it for way too many days now, so have a go at it. The Environment We have 2 app-servers, which can be located on either the same machine or 2 different machines, and use the same signing certificate, and host 2 different web-apps. Though let's say, for the sake of our study case here, that they are on the same physical machine. So, we have: https://company.com/webapp1/ https://company.com/webapp2/ webapp1 is GWT-based rich-client which contains on one of its screens a menu with an item that is used to invoke a Java WebStart Client located on webapp2. It does so by performing a simple window.open call via this GWT call: Window.open("https://company.com/webapp2/app.jnlp", "_blank", null); Expected Behavior User merrilly goes to webapp1 User navigates to menu entry to start the WebStart app and clicks on it browser fires off a separate window/dialog which, depending on the browser and its security settings, will: request confirmation to navigate to this secure site, directly download the file, and possibly auto-execute a javaws process if there's a file association, otherwise the user can simply click on the file and start the app (or go about doing whatever it takes here). If you close the app, close the dialog, and re-click the menu entry, the same thing should happen again. Actual Behavior On Anything but God-forsaken IE 8 (Though I admit there's also all the god-forsaken pre-IE8 stuff, but the Requirements Lords being merciful we have already recently managed to make them drop these suckers. That was close. Let's hold hands and say a prayer of gratitude.) Stuff just works. JNLP gets downloaded, app executes just fine, you can close the app and re-do all the steps and it will restart happily. People rejoice. Puppies are safe and play on green hills in the sunshine. Developers can go grab a coffee and move on to more meaningful and rewarding tasks, like checking out on SO questions. Chrome doesn't want to execute the JNLP, but who cares? Customers won't get RSI from clicking a file every other week. On God-forsaken IE8 On the first visit, the dialog opens and requests confirmation for the user to continue to webapp2, though it could be unsafe (here be dragons, I tell you). The JNLP downloads and auto-opens, the app start. Your breathing is steady and slow. You close the app, close that SSL confirmation dialog, and re-click the menu entry. The dialog opens and auto-closes. Nothing starts, the file wasn't downloaded to any known location and Fiddler just reports the connection was closed. If you close IE and reach that menu item to click it again, it is now back to working correctly. Until you try again during the same session, of course. Your heart-rate goes up, you get some more coffee to make matters worse, and start looking for plain tickets online and a cheap but heavy golf-club on an online auction site to go clubbing baby polar seals to avenge your bloodthirst, as the gates to the IE team in Redmond are probably more secured than an ice block, as one would assume they get death threats often. Plus, the IE9 and IE10 teams are already hard at work fxing the crap left by their predecessors, so maybe you don't want to be too hard on them, and you don't have money to waste on a PI to track down the former devs responsible for this mess. Added Details I have come across many problems with IE8 not downloading files over SSL when it uses a no-cache header. This was indeed one of our problems, which seems to be worked out now. It downloads files fine, webapp2 uses the following headers to serve the JNLP file: response.setHeader("Cache-Control", "private, must-revalidate"); // IE8 happy response.setHeader("Pragma", "private"); // IE8 happy response.setHeader("Expires", "0"); // IE8 happy response.setHeader("Access-Control-Allow-Origin", "*"); // allow to request via cross-origin AJAX response.setContentType("application/x-java-jnlp-file"); // please exec me As you might have inferred, we get some confirmation dialog because there's something odd with the SSL certificate. Unfortunately I have no control over that. Assuming that's only temporary and for development purposes as we usually don't get our hands on the production certs. So the SSL cert is expired and doesn't specify the server. And the confirmation dialog. Wouldn't be that bad if it weren't for IE, as other browsers don't care, just ask for confirmation, and execute as expected and consistantly. Please, pretty please, help me, or I might consider sacrificial killings as an option. And I think I just found a decently prized stainless steel golf-club, so I'm right on the edge of gore. Side Notes Might actually be related to IE8 window.open SSL Certificate issue. Though it doesn't explain why the dialog would auto-close (that really is beyong me...), it could help to not have the confirmation dialog and not need the dialog at all. For instance, I was thinking that just having a simple URL in that menu instead of have it entirely managed by GWT code to invoke a Window.open would solve the problem. But I don't have control on that menu, and also I'm very curious how this could be fixed otherwise and why the hell it happens in the first place...

• Embedding mercurial revision information in Visual Studio c# projects automatically

  Original Problem In building our projects, I want the mercurial id of each repository to be embedded within the product(s) of that repository (the library, application or test application). I find it makes it so much easier to debug an application ebing run by custiomers 8 timezones away if you know precisely what went into building the particular version of the application they are using. As such, every project (application or library) in our systems implement a way of getting at the associated revision information. I also find it very useful to be able to see if an application has been compiled with clean (un-modified) changesets from the repository. 'Hg id' usefully appends a + to the changeset id when there are uncommitted changes in a repository, so this allows is to easily see if people are running a clean or a modified version of the code. My current solution is detailed below, and fulfills the basic requirements, but there are a number of problems with it. Problems with the current solution The main problem is that since the HgId.cs is re-created at each pre-build, every time we need to compile anything, all projects in the current solution are re-compiled. Since we want to be able to easily debug into our libraries, we usually keep many libraries referenced in our main application solution. This can result in build times which are significantly longer than I would like. Ideally I would like the libraries to compile only if the contents of the HgId.cs file has actually changed, as opposed to having been re-created with exactly the same contents. The second problem with this method is it's dependence on specific behaviour of the windows shell. I've already had to modify the batch file several times, since the original worked under XP but not Vista, the next version worked under Vista but not XP and finally I managed to make it work with both. Whether it will work with Windows 7 however is anyones guess and as time goes on, I see it more likely that contractors will expect to be able to build our apps on their Windows 7 boxen. Finally, I have an aesthetic problem with this solution, batch files and bodged together template files feel like the wrong way to do this. My actual questions How would you solve/how are you solving the problem I'm trying to solve? What better options are out there than what I'm currently doing? Rejected Solutions to these problems Before I implemented the current solution, I looked at Mercurials Keyword extension, since it seemed like the obvious solution. However the more I looked at it and read peoples opinions, the more that I came to the conclusion that it wasn't the right thing to do. I also remember the problems that keyword substitution has caused me in projects at previous companies (just the thought of ever having to use Source Safe again fills me with a feeling of dread *8'). Also, I don't particularly want to have to enable Mercurial extensions to get the build to complete. I want the solution to be self contained, so that it isn't easy for the application to be accidentally compiled without the embedded version information just because an extension isn't enabled or the right helper software hasn't been installed. I also thought of writing this in a better scripting language, one where I would only write HgId.cs file if the content had actually changed, but all of the options I could think of would require my co-workers, contractors and possibly customers to have to install software they might not otherwise want (for example cygwin). Any other options people can think of would be appreciated. I've tried looking for solutions and tried checking "Only build startup projects and dependencies on Run" in Tools|Options|Projects and Solutions|Build and Run but it makes no difference. The second problem also remains, and now I have no way to test if it will work with Vista, since that contractor is no longer with us. If anyone can test this batch file on a Windows 7 and/or Vista box, I would appreciate hearing how it went. Finally, my aesthetic problem with this solution, is even strnger than it was before, since the batch file is more complex and this there is now more to go wrong. If you can think of any better solution, I would love to hear about them.

• Fetch a specific tag from Rally in order to compute a value in another field

  I'm extremely new to Rally development so my question may sound dumb (but couldn't find how to do it from rally's help or from previous posts here) :) I've started from the rally freeform grid example - my purpose is to implement a Business Value calculator: I fill the score field with a 5-digit figure where each number is a score in the 1-5 range. Then I compute a business value as the result of a calculation, where each number is weighted by a preset weight. I can sort my stories by Business Value to help me prioritize my backlog: that's the first step, and it works. Now what I want to do is to make my freeform grid editable: I am extracting each of my digits as a separate column, but those columns are display-only. How can I turn them into something editable? What I want to do of course is update back the score field based on the values input in each custom column. Here's an example: I have a record with score "15254", which means Business Value criteria 1 scores 1 out of 5, Business Value criteria 2 scores 5 out of 5, and so on... In the end my Business Value is computed as "1*1 + 5*2 + 2*3 + 5*4 + 4*5 = 57". So far this is the part that works. Now let's say I found that the third criteria should not score 2 but 3, I want to be able to edit the value in the corresponding column and have my score field updated to "15354", and my Business Value to display 60 instead of 57. • Using Flot's Bar Graph in an Android WebView with Highlighting

  The issue is unhighlighting bars which are no longer selected in a bar graph plotted by flot in a WebView on Android. Got no other issues drawing the actual graphs (which look beautiful for something so simple btw). I am not extremely knowledgeable in terms of javascript and web design/development but it seems little should have been needed, if it would just work!! :( I believe I'm following the Flot API correctly, if not someone please scream and yell at me. It seems to work just fine in a non-mobile browser at least. Hoping someone has done this before, but if not I've got the minimal necessary code to poke at your droids if inquiring minds would like to test. I've tested on two Nexus Ones (both 2.2.1), and have tried targeting with Andriod 1.5 and 2.2 SDKs (my intention is to target 1.5 if possible). I've been attempting to hack away at this for far too long on my own now. What happens: 1. Graph loads fine with bars. All bars unhighlighted. 2. Select a bar in graph, gets highlighted fine (and a tooltip is placed). 3. Select a different bar in graph, old bar is unhighlighted, old tooltip removed, new bar highlighted and tooltip placed (still no problems). 4. Click in the vast darkness of the graph which should then unhighlight the last bar... but it doesn't. I've tried disabling flot's autohighlight and manually doing it as well to no avail. Looking into flot itself and only getting down to drawOverlay() where the issue seems to begin... An even more disturbing bug(?) appears if the fill bar option is enabled in the graph, but I'd rather just forget about that for now. Also grabbed the latest version of flot from their svn (r290), but made no different from last public release (v0.6). As a complete guess I'm thinking it's an issue with WebKit's javascript implementation (or something specific to Nexus Ones, which wouldn't be so bad), but if there is any ugly hack to just get it to work I'm all ears. I've thrown the graph data directly into the html/js, rather than deal with showing all the code involved in the Java-javascript handler and callbacks.
