  • Why doesn't my Administrator account have access privileges?

    We are running windows server 2003.I log in as Administrator but I don't have any access rights. I tried to create a new Administrator account but when logging into that one I still face the same issue. Is there a problem with the Group Administrators? If so is there a way to restore it's default settings? Note: This problem started after I uninstalled the Active directory role from the server. Thanks in advance.

    I am using subsonic repository pattern(2.1) for asp.net mvc application.In my application,there are many repositories like categoryRepository,Blogrepository etc.Inside each of this repository i am calling subsonic's DB.Select().From()...ExecuteReader() and then loading domain objects from those reader. In the controller action i make multiple calls from these repositories for e.g. List<IBlog> blogs=_blogRepository.GetHottestBlogs(); List<ICategory> categories=_categoryRepository.GetAll(); do i have to implement any unitofwork pattern for this ?.My doubt is that how subsonic performs each operation DB.Update/Insert/Select .Is a TransactionScope is enough for batch update or do i have to use SharedDbConnectionScope to get better performance?

  • Suggestions: Anti-Pattern counter-examples

    It doesn't seem that this exact question has been asked before, so I'll fire away: Most of us are familiar with the concept of an anti-pattern. However, avoiding implementation of anti-patterns can in principle swing too far the other way and cause problems itself. As an example, "Design by Committee" has a counter-example that I'd call "Design by Maverick" - wherein the design of an important feature is handed off to an individual to do what they think best, with the intention of reviewing their work later and deciding whether it should be finalised or go through another iteration. This takes much longer in practice as the rest of the team are occupied by other things, and can end up with a feature that's useful to nobody, particularly if the Maverick is not themselves an experienced end-user. Does anyone have any more examples of anti-pattern counter-examples?

    I'm getting really confused, reading tutorials from SAMBA howto, which is hell of a mess. Could you write step-by-step, what events happen upon NetLogon? Or in particular, I can't get these things: I really can't get the mechanism of action of LDAP and its role. Should I think of Active Directory LDS as of its superset? What're the other roles of AD and why this term is nearly a synonym of term "domain"? What's the role of LDAP in the remote login sequence? Does it store roaming user profiles? Does it store anything else? How it is called (are there any upper-level or lower-level services that use it in the course of NetLogon)? How do I join a domain. On the client machine I just use the Domain Controller admin credentials, but how do I prepare the Domain Controller for a new machine to join it. What's that deal of Machine trust accounts? How it is used? Suppose, I've just configured a machine to join a domain, created its machine trust, added its data to the domain controller. How would that machine find WINS server to query it for Domain Controller NetBIOS name? Does any computer name, ending with <1C type, correspond to domain controller? In what cases Kerberos and LM/NTLM are used for authentication? Where are password hashes stored in, say, Windows2000 domain controller? Right in the registry? What is SAM - is it a service, responsible for authentication and sending/storing those passwords and accompanying information, such as groups policies etc.? Who calls it? Does it use Active Directory? What's the role of NetBIOS except by name service? Can you exemplify a scenario of its usage as a "datagram distribution service for connectionless communication" or "session service for connection-oriented communication"?   • TcpListener Socket still active after program exits.

    I'm trying to stop a TCP Listener as my program is exiting. I do not care about any data that is currently active on the socket or any of the active client sockets. The socket clean up code is essentially: try { myServer.Server.Shutdown(SocketShutdown.Both) } catch (Exception ex) { LogException(ex) } myServer.Server.Close(0) myServer.Stop() myServer is a TCPListener On some occasions, Shutdown will thrown an exception System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: A request to send or receive data was disallowed because the socket is not connected and (when sending on a datagram socket using a sendto call) no address was supplied at System.Net.Sockets.Socket.Shutdown(SocketShutdown how) When this happens, the socket is never released. Even after the application exits netstat shows the socket is still in the listening state. I have not been able to create definitive reproduction scenerio, it happens at seemingly random times. Client Sockets are cleaned up independently. Do you have any suggestions to help me make this socket die?

  • DAO design pattern and using it across multiple tables

    I'm looking for feedback on the Data Access Object design pattern and using it when you have to access data across multiple tables. It seems like that pattern, which has a DAO for each table along with a Data Transfer Object (DTO) that represents a single row, isn't too useful for when dealing with data from multiple tables. I was thinking about creating a composite DAO and corresponding DTO that would return the result of, let's say performing a join on two tables. This way I can use SQL to grab all the data instead of first grabbing data from one using one DAO and than the second table using the second DAO, and than composing them together in Java. Is there a better solution? And no, I'm not able to move to Hibernate or another ORM tool at the moment. Just straight JDBC for this project.

    If I'm at the domain controller (in the Active Directory) to find out what groups the "XPSP3-A" workstation is a member of, I do: dsquery computer "CN=XPSP3-A,CN=Computers,DC=pvk,DC=local" -name XPSP3-A | dsget computer -memberof and receive the following: "CN=Sec Group 001,OU=OU1,DC=pvk,DC=local" "CN=Domain Computers,CN=Users,DC=pvk,DC=local" But how to do the same from the "XPSP3-A" workstation?

  • AD group authentication to view wordpress posts?

    I'm trying to set up a wordpress site using active directory authentication. One question that has come up is the ability to limit category/post/blog reading to specific AD groups. I've never seen this done and I haven't been able to find any plugins that seem to promise this functionality. It would seem that the best option is to just give a bunch of users a role with the read_private_posts capability, but I'm not sure this will do the trick.

I started using it but i realized that i can not use it in a switch statement.     In Server 2000 active directory, I have 5 groups of users and every user has different policies. The problem is that a different desktop loads for only one specific user no matter what changes I make in administrative templates. If I copy this user profile and paste it into another group with a different name, windows workaround loads as it should, but some policies are not applied. Does anybody know a way to solve this problem instead of creating a new group and user from scratch?

  • How can I automatically create a folder, assign a home folder and logon script automatically after a new User is created?

    Usually I create a new user, then set the home folder, logon script, etc... Is it possible in Active Directory when I create a new AD user object, that it goes out to my share drive and automatically creates a folder for them (naming it their username), and then assigns that folder as their home drive? It would also be helpful if it would automatically assign them a specific logon script at user creation too. Thank you!

  • Android pattern for activity "flows"

    I'm developing an android app that has a bunch of screens (activities) that are supposed to have "continue" and "back" buttons at the top. Can you tell me the right pattern for implementing this? I've seen some iPhone apps that have this but Android apps usually don't (I think partly because the back button is part of the phone). I found a post online about an Activity class that has "sub activities" which kind of seems like what I want to do, but I'm wondering if there's a simpler solution or pattern for creating flows like this (in which several activities are linked with continue/back buttons).

  • Problem with Authentication in sharepoint using active directory

    I am currently using windows server 2008 machine. I have active directory and sharepoint setup on the machine. I have a user 'A' in the active directory and i have given the user read permissions to my site. The problem i now face is that, if i log in as user 'A' the site simply shows "error:access denied". This problem goes away if i put 'A' as a site collection administrator, however that is not what i want. I just want 'A' to be a visitor that can browse the site. I also tried granting 'read' permission to my site for 'A' but that still gives me the access denied message. Thank you for your time.

  • What is the best way to make a test duplicate of an AD DC?

    I have a production Active Directory Server running on a Windows Server 2008 R2 machine. I would like to make a duplicate of this machine with all setting the same, except the domain would be a slight variation of the current domain (think winnet to winnet2). Would it be easiest to try to clone the hard drive while the machine is running and change the domain on the clone in a different machine or export the data and import it on a different box?

  • Active Index is not being persisted in jQuery accordion change event

However, when I load the page, the alert shows index 1 which is correct on the first load, but if I open up pane 3 for example, the alert shows 1 still. Am I doing something wrong?
