    I'm brand new to nginx and I am trying to convert the app I wrote over from Apache as I need the ability to serve a lot of clients at once without a lot of overhead! I'm getting the hang of setting up nginx and FastCGI PHP but I can't wrap my head around nginx's rewrite format just yet. I know you have to write some simple script that goes in the server {} block in the nginx config but I'm not yet familiar with the syntax.   • Copying large files from USB devices to the internal hard drive fails on Mac OS

    I have a second-generation 13" MacBook Air running Mac OS X 10.6.6 with a 2.13 GHz processor, 4 GB of RAM, and a 256 GB SSD hard disk. I often get failures when I attempt to copy a large file or large collection of files from an external USB drive (typically a "Firewire" generation Drobo) to the internal drive. The failure behaves almost exactly as if I had pulled the USB cable from the computer in mid-transfer. I get a warning that I have removed the hard disk improperly. After this event, the drive no longer appears mounted in the finder, and I have to unplug and reinsert the USB cable to mount the drive again. I have also seen a similar problem when using Aperture 3 to import a large number of photos and videos from a USB Compact Flash card reader. The import will fail and I will have to unplug the Card Reader and import the missing items. Oddly, reversing the direction of the copy seems pretty reliable. I've never had a problem copying a large file to a USB device, meaning that I have quite a few large files which are stranded on my Drobo. Model Identifier: MacBookAir3,2 Boot ROM Version: MBA31.0061.B01 I have seen a similar issue reported on Apple's website: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2648590&tstart=0 The only suggested resolutions there seems to be switching to another form of connectivity (e.g. firewire, which does not exist on MacBook Air), or downgrading to Mac OS 10.6.4, or reverting the USB kernel extensions to the 10.6.4 versions: http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=12566073#12582956 I'm not too keen on the idea of downgrading kernel extensions. Does anyone know of a hardware revision without this issue that I can trade up to? Are there any other potential solutions out there?

  • Apache 2 Fails to Start After Upgrade with No Errors

    Hi all Hoping someone can help me with a server issue. Recently we upgraded to the latest apache on 2 boxes within are organisation. One being the master box the other being for failover. The upgrade went fine on the master box but on the failover box apache fails to start with no errors, being output or logged. Both boxes have the exact same configuration so found this a bit strange. I've reinstalled apache and have been through checking the configs and did not find any obvious errors. Eventally I ran a syntax check on each config file being included and found that one of the files apparently has syntax errors. Invalid command 'Order', perhaps misspelled or defined by a module not included in the server configuration Invalid command 'php_value', perhaps misspelled or defined by a module not included in the server configuration Invalid command 'GeoIPEnable', perhaps misspelled or defined by a module not included in the server configuration I've trippled checked all the modules are enabled but it still fails. I've googled the subject of these errors loads but have been unable to fine a solution. I was wondering if anyone had encountered such a problem before and could point me towards a solution.     I have a random problem with Apache that I can't quite figure out, here is my setup, Windows Server 2008 R2, 64 Bit, 5GB RAM, SSD with 200 MB(Read/write) and Dual Core CPU @ 2.1 GHz A dump from mod-staus, Server Version: Apache/2.4.7 (Win32) mod_limitipconn/0.24 mod_antiloris/0.5.2 PHP/5.5.9 Server MPM: WinNT Apache Lounge VC11 Server Built: Nov 21 2013 20:13:01 Current Time: Thursday, 21-Aug-2014 23:38:06 W. Europe Daylight Time Restart Time: Thursday, 21-Aug-2014 20:30:47 W. Europe Daylight Time Parent Server Config. Generation: 1 Parent Server MPM Generation: 1 Server uptime: 3 hours 7 minutes 18 seconds Server load: -1.00 -1.00 -1.00 Total accesses: 283025 - Total Traffic: 1172.2 GB 25.2 requests/sec - 106.8 MB/second - 4.2 MB/request 62 requests currently being processed, 388 idle workers Serving large .zip & iso files using mod_xsendfile. (File size range 500 MB - 1.5 GB) The setup works and is running fine. CPU usage is very unstable, jumps all the time between 10% - 90% and the servers goes down when it hits 100%. In that case I have to hard restart the server. Server it outputting traffic at 30 Mbps. Is there anything else I should think about to get a more stable CPU usage? Is that CPU usage normal? Can switching to Linux help me achieve better CPU usage?

Looking on a way to be able to assign a fixed ip address to a host, before it boots I found that Centos 6 works fine with no modifications and Windows 7 does not work at all. As defined in enter link description here exists 3 valid ways of generate a DUID: 1 Link-layer address plus time 2 Vendor-assigned unique ID based on Enterprise Number 3 Link-layer address Looking at the centos, that works fine, I can see the following autogenerated DUID: option dhcp6.client-id 0:1:0:1:19:60:25:f1:52:54:0:6b:b9:9e; and the MAC address for this host is: ifconfig eth1 | grep HWaddr eth1 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 52:54:00:6B:B9:9E As you can see, the DUID containts the MAC address. I can assign a fixed ip address to this host by including an entry on my dhcp server similar to: host vm { hardware ethernet 52:54:00:6B:B9:9E; fixed-address6 2001:db8:0:1::200; if packet(0,1) = 1 { log(debug,"VM Request match!"); } } And the Centos 6 gets his ip. On the windows side, I faced a common problem explained on this other link enter link description here As summary, Win7 uses the option 2 of the DUID generation or a variation of this one. On the link explains how to move it to a llt (link layer + time) but is not working fine. If I modify the DUID to one that looks like the one generated on Centos (but with the right MAC) it works as expected. Question 1 How Can I change the DUID generation for Windows 7 to be based on MAC as Centos 6 does? Thanks

    i started using nginx upload module (which creates upload files like /tmp/000121545) but i need paperclip to use original filename while saving files (like /public/avatars/LuckyLuke.jpg) previously in the parameters Rails were passing just "avatar"=>#<File:/tmp/RackMultipart20100413-6151-t3ecq0-0> no original filename as well, so i am wondering where from does it come in paperclip? i tried looking through plugin code but it's currently a bit too complex for me.

  • Remove robot as an editor of a blip

    I have a Google Wave robot which makes changes to some blip content depending on what a user inputs. When this edit is made, the robot is listed in the blip as one of the people who have edited it (so shows its Avatar and robot name). I was wondering if anyone knew if it was possible (and if so how), to stop the robot being listed as an editor (either by it not happening in the first place, or removing it afterwards).
