  I have a list of items stored in the DB, simplified schema is like this: id, parent, name I need to generate a tree structure (in a form of a multi-dimensional array) that can be infinite levels deep. Top level items would have parent = 0. Next level down would have parent equal to the the id of the parent item, fairly straight forward. What would be the best way to do this, while consuming as little resources as possible?

I realized that having nonblocking callback behavior while handling a web request will require deep support at the webserver level. I am interested in node.js, but when I have a web server that ends up persisting data, I would like to take advantage of the static type system that Java offers.   I have a function that takes a pointer to a superclass and performs operations on it. However, at some point, the function must make a deep copy of the inputted object. Is there any way I can perform such a copy? It occurred to me to make the function a template function and simply have the user pass the type, but I hold out hope that C++ offers a more elegant solution.

I need to be able to drop the framework into any folder on a server, no matter how many folders deep, and need to find that directory to use as a base URL. For example, it currently works if I put the framework in the root of the server (http://cms.dev/), but if I were to put it in http://cms.dev/folder/ it does not work.   I'm currently trying to perform a deep crawl within a small list of sites. To accomplish this, I updated conf/domain-urlfilter.txt with the domains of the sites I wish to scrape, which worked nicely. However, I found that not only were the links crawled at every step filtered, but the outlinks captured from each page crawled were filtered as well. Is there a way to avoid filtering captured outlinks while still filtering crawled URLs?

• UNC Paths in Google Chrome

  We have an internal wiki setup and do a lot of linking to files on internal shares. We typically use this format (where Share is the name of the server): <a href="file:///\\share\blah\blah\file.txt"> This works in FireFox (after modifying the userpref.js) and IE. We've now had a bit of an adoption of Google Chrome. These links do not appear to work in Chrome. I've been unable to find anything about it on the net so far. :/ This is served up on an IIS box (7.0, https). It seems to be that Chrome has some protection like FireFox does and prevents file links from being loaded from a webpage. Does anyone know of any workarounds?

  I have got the cuda driver, toolkit and sdk installed in Ubuntu 10.04. I'm using nVidia Geforce 8600 GT card. Official website says my card is CUDA supported. But on running the deviceQuery that comes with the cuda sdk, I'm getting the following output. ./deviceQuery Starting... CUDA Device Query (Runtime API) version (CUDART static linking) There is no device supporting CUDA deviceQuery, CUDA Driver = CUDART, CUDA Driver Version = 134566327, CUDA Runtime Version = 0.0, NumDevs = 0 PASSED Press <Enter> to Quit... So, is GeForce 8600GT actually not CUDA supported, or is the problem with something else? Thanks.

• Enabling media streaming from a removable drive using Windows Media Player

  I have Windows Media Player set up to stream video to several devices in my apartment. I had recently run out of space so I purchased an external drive to store my videos/music etc. I can add the media to my WMP library and play it locally without issue. As soon as I try to access the media from another device that supports media streaming (Media player or another PC) only the media stored on a fixed drive is available. Is there a way to enable media sharing from a removable drive or somehow trick WMP that the media is stored on a fixed drive? I tried setting up a SymLink linking a directory on the fixed drive to the removable one but with the same result.

  I'm looking for an integrated solution that combines documentation of a software system with tracking of bugs, change requests and feature requests. Requirements: Documentation using a wiki would be nice, preferably one supporting CamelCase or other automatic linking. Issue tracking must allow a customizable workflow and optional e-mail notifications. Known alternatives: FogBugz is an awesome issue tracker, but the wiki appears to be somewhat awkward. Trac's wiki is average (though not as nice as Foswiki.org) but I don't know how good the integrated issue tracker is. What would you recommend? What systems offer the best combination of documentation and issue tracking?

• Hide notification area GPO not applying

  I have created a GPO to hide the notification area on Windows XP SP3. The GPO must apply to all students but only in certain rooms so I've also enabled loopback processing on the GPO and linked to the OUs the computers are in. I've then added a group to the security filter that contains all student accounts. This is not applying. It doesn't even show up in gpresult. I have also tried linking it in the Students OU which contains all student accounts and applying a security filter with a group of the computers I want it to apply to. This didn't work either. It's possible I'm missing something straightforward. Would a WMI filter do the job, and if so how would I go about writing one so that it'll only apply to computers whose name begins with XX-RT for example.

  I'm working on a simple "DB" for some people at work and I don't want to do anything fancy. the fields should be something like name , number , notes , File:resume, notes (where file:notes is the acutall embedded resume. I cant see any obvious way to do this but i thought i would ask just the same. Is there a way to take a (pdf , doc , docx , txt) and throw it into a cell so a user can click on it and it will open the file in the approate program note: this db is going to be floating around between multiple sites so linking won't work.

• Creating windows links on Linux?

  I'm running a SAMBA file store for our Windows users, and I'd like to automatically generate windows LNK files linking to other network shares that the user needs access to. I've done quite a bit of googling and I can't find a way of creating windows links on Linux, or through Perl. I did find a perl module that looked promising in CPAN, but it will only run on Windows unfortunately. If it's not possible to create .LNK files, perhaps there is an alternative solution people can suggest to allow the users to click on a file in one SAMBA store to be linked to a different SAMBA share? • How can I use a batch shortcut to open multiple Windows Explorer folders, and a Notepad file?

  I've recently built a computer with an SSD in it (my first) and am in the process of moving a select few of my Steam games to the SSD and symbolically linking them to where they're supposed to be on the main (mechanical) hard drive so that Steam doesn't throw a fit and I get maximum performance. To this end, I'm finding myself repeatedly navigating to both target folders to move the relevant files and opening a specific Notepad file to enter the relevant paths into a template I've got set up that I paste into the Windows command prompt to create the symlink. This is annoying. I've read up a little bit on batch shortcuts, and have a basic understanding on how to use one to open programs and files. However, I'm finding a lot of confusing suggestions on how to use batch shortcuts to open specific folders in Windows Explorer, and none of them deal with opening multiple folders at once. Any assistance on writing the shortcut would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

• Squeeze/Lenny compilation : Library Link error

  I've got a problem here : I have a C++ Library ("DataTsBroad") and a C++ Test app ("DataTsBroadTest"), to test it. Actually, the Lib and the Test app are both compiled an a Debian Lenny. Now, i want to continue to compile my Test app on a Debian Lenny (customer constraint), but i would compile my lib on a Squeeze or a Wheezy to work on the last Debian releases. So, i successfully compiled my Lib on a Squeeze, But, after, when i try to compile my Test app with this Lib on the Lenny, it fails ! There is a Link Error : Linking CXX executable DataTsBroadTest /home/nis/pezierg/test/ProductMak/Export/DataTsBroad/L64/Release/libDataTsBroad64.so: undefined reference to `std::ctype::_M_widen_init() const@GLIBCXX_3.4.11' collect2: ld returned 1 exit status make[2]: *** [DataTsBroadTest] Error 1 make[1]: *** [CMakeFiles/DataTsBroadTest.dir/all] Error 2 make: * [all] Error 2 The problem is certainly due to ostream C++ Lib, I tried to comment all it's uses in my Lib and it works.   hey guys, I created a word file with office 2007 and exported it via jaws pdf. Now I want some bookmarks or any kind of "linking-action" that makes it easier to navigate through the document. My PDF viewer doesnt allow to create bookmarks in the free version so I guess I need to handle this via word! maybe using a table of content? anything that is recognized by pdf! thanks in advance edit: I realised it with using a table of centent.it works fine but that wasnt the solution if been looking for.I like to have some bookmarks but my pdf creator doesnt take over the one I created in word. need to figure out how this could works
