For non obscured links I use Linky Firefox add-on From Wikipedia hxxp://, sometimes h**p:// or _ttp://, is used in URLs (web links) to obscure the fact that one is linking to a http:// website. It is generally used to avoid automatic recognition by computer programs. For a user to follow this link, it is usually necessary to manually copy-paste the link onto the web browser's address bar and replace the 'x'es with 't's. screenshot I use RefControl, so security is not an issue.

• Nginx Ip Whitelist

  Is it possible to create a ip whitelist for my nginx proxy server without adding allow or deny in the config file is it possible i can get nginx to link to a separate database to check if the user is allowed to access the website . Ideally i could do with nginx linking to an external database or at minimum a list off allowed ips on the same server so i can easily update the list whit out restarting nginx every time. In the future i would like to link nginx to my website and a user will login and there ip will be linked to there account and they will be able to update there ip if it has changed to there new one to grant them access so i need to keep in mind that it would be easyer to do this if i have external list off ips in some kind off database any help is apreshiated

  I am trying to get the ar command on an embedded ARM computer running linux. I want to install debian and openjdk. It is a headless system. This is a custom linux distribution provided by the hardware manufacturer. The debian installer is missing the ar command so i tried copying the binaries from the debian package, but when running ar I get error while loading shared libraries: libbfd-2.18.0-multiarch.20080103.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory libbfd is also in the package. I tried linking it to /lib and /usr/lib but I get the same message when running. What is the best way to get debian and ar on a custom linux distro?

• Time machine link error

  When attempting to perform a Time Machine backup, the backup appears to proceed as normal, until it finishes copying files at which point it complains that an "error occurred while linking files for" one of my external hard disks. During the previous backup that particular disk was in fact empty, and therefore I can't understand why Time Machine is attempting to link back to it. But alas. I've verified all my disks using Disk Utility and they all appear to be fine. Does anybody know what causes this error, and how I might go about fixing it? Failing that is there a way to force Time Machine to create a brand new backup rather than an incremental one? Thanks in advance!

  I'm looking at linking two networks with a long range Ethernet bridge. I know I can connect my two networks with a router, but my problem is how will my computers know where to send packets if I don't add the route manually? I COULD add them manually, but it seems like a hassle. I have very very limited knowledge of RIP (I know it has something to do with routing), but I don't know how to use it. edit: My vision for the network would be the 2 networks (which are currently independent home networks), connected by a microwave Ethernet link. I assumed i'd need a router on one end of the bridge, to handle communication between the 2 networks.

• How to set up Aptana Studio 3 with a Bitbucket private repo

  I have just started playing around with Git and would like to push a personal project to a newly created, private repo on Bitbucket using Aptana Studio 3. I tried to use the Git integration in Aptana but I couldn't figure out where to enter my username and password for Bitbucket anywhere. I tried using the Team > Share Project context menu but that keeps throwing the following message: Warning: Permanently added the RSA host key for IP address '207.223.240.181' to the list of known hosts. Permission denied (publickey). fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly I'm pretty sure that's because my repo is private. However, I couldn't find a provision to provide any form of credentials for linking to a private repo. Any ideas?

  I'm looking for a way to make a directory accessible only to its parent directories. That is, suppose you have two directories, A and B, at the same level in the file hierarchy. Now suppose that you have a directory A' which is a subdirectory of A. I'd like to enforce that A is able to access the contents of A' but B is not. My problem is that I'd like to use a library (directory A) which builds on top of a legacy version of another library (directory A'). At the same time, I want to be able to use the newest version of this legacy library (directory B). I want to make sure that people aren't somehow using library A and linking against new library B by enforcing that library A must use library A'. I could just link A against library B, but then I'm risking compatibility.

I have over 9 devices linking my sites together and with no support from the previous IT company im finding it hard to get to terms with what they can do and what they are currently doing.   Hi, I have 2 machines. Both running CentOS. Box1 is webserver with apache, php. Box2 is mysql, and file storage. The files will only be accessible from Box1 within the webapp. I'd like to somehow create a symlink or somesuch on box1 to a folder on box2 where uploaded files can be stored and retrieved. Security in mind, what would be the best way to go about linking these 2 boxes up in a transparent (to apache) way? NB: the boxes are connected directly to each other via a crossover cable; no lan access to box2. Much thanks!

• Macro - maintain paste link if new row is added to master spreadsheet

  I have a master spreadsheet that has a portion of data (say columns a to e) that paste links to a report. Each row paste links to its own report. If I add a new row to the master spreadsheet I now have the wrong data linking into my reports. I know if I have the reports open when a change is made to the master it will update the reports. However, with the number of reports I will soon have this will no longer be practical. Is there a macro or formula that can be added to maintain the correct data link. I have no real knowledge on such matters and as much information as possible would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

• Automate new AD user's home folder creation and permission setup

  I know if we setup a base folder or a profile path in the Profile tab of an AD user, we can copy it and the folder creation and permission setup will be automated. My problem is that not all my users have a roaming profile and the home folder linking is done thru GPO. When I copy from these users, the home folder isn't created automatically and I have to create it manually and change permission and ownership on that folder, located on the fileserver. What should I do? A script may be nice but it'd have to be run everytime a new user is created and I don't think we can link a script to an AD user creation? I'd like to avoid any manual steps and keep my GPO that way. Using a W2008r2 DC on w7 client boxes. Thanks.

  In order to create regular backups, I'm using rsync together with --link-dest so as to create hard-links for unchanged files. For example: rsync -ax \ --partial --delete --delete-excluded --inplace \ --exclude-from=/tmp/temp_excludes \ --link-dest=/Volumes/Backup/current \ /Users /Volumes/Backup/2012-06-25 This works very well as long as I start the process from my normal user account. Though as soon as I start the process using sudo it behaves erradically, meaning that rsync copies all the unchanged files instead of hard-linking them. Since sudo modifies the environment, I've already also tried sudo -E in conjunction with making sure that my sudoers file has the corresponding option set. Well, that didn't work either. So, the question is, how can I run rsync using sudo? Whereas the above example only shows a backup of the Users directory, I also need to backup some system files that I can only access as root.

  I just handled a small task, which I would like to automate through Active Directory. We’ve written a few Intranet applications which get used a lot here. Occasionally someone will have to go to the front desk and work on something there, while one of the receptionists are away. They’ll always call us to have us put a shortcut onto their desktop linking to these Intranet applications. It’s just a bit of a nuisance, and I’m sure that AD could be used to automate creating shortcuts on user’s desktops pointing to our Intranet applications. The only thing is, I don’t know how to do this, and being a small shop that we are, we don’t have a system administrator at this time. So, how do we automate the creation of desktop shortcuts to websites, using AD in a Windows 2003 Server environment?

  Copy list of file names to text file? I am linking the above page because of its relevance to my question. Is there anything similar that can be done to output a 'plain' looking text file (or xml or csv file) with basically the same data that the following cmd prompt produces: dir > c:\list.txt However only difference I need is the runtime of any and all video files included in the outputted file. Can this easily be done? Please let me know whether this can be done in the python terminal as well since I am familiar with that was well as Microsoft's dos prompt. Thank you so very much.

  I managed to break sudo by deleting the libc.so.6 sym-link in /lib. I copied the actual file and created a symbolic link with the same name under my home directory by using LD_PRELOAD=/lib/libc-2.11.3.so. At this point, all binaries linking libc are working through preload except sudo. For sudo, I need to write (and don't know why): $ /lib/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 --library-path . /usr/bin/sudo but this gives me: $ sudo: must be setuid root Checking the permissions: $ ls -l /usr/bin/sudo $ -rwsr-xr-x 2 root root 166120 So the setuid bit is actually set. Question: I need to create a symbolic link named /lib/libc.so.6 through my active ssh connection without using sudo, or, make sudo work somehow. I don't have the root password and I can't connect through ssh anymore. Is there any other way I can get authorization?

• MS Excel: Can I link images using a relative path?

  I am working on an MS Excel document that contains a lot of (around 200) images. They are currently saved within the document, so the file becomes huge and working gets very slow. Linking the pictures without saving them works very well - I now have the Excel document and a folder "pictures" next to it that contains all my image files. However, when I move the document and the folder to a new location, all my pictures disappear. This seems to be because Excel saves the link information as absolute paths. (Update: Actually, according to this thread, Excel stores the link information as relative paths as well. Now I really don't know why my links break down..) Is there a convenient way to save them as relative paths or have Excel automatically update the path information? Update: It's important that the images get displayed on the sheet and can be printed. I am working with Microsoft Excel for Mac 2008 and 2011. I really appreciate your help.

And I want to spare me the additional click into the dropdown menu one and for all, so the question is, is there any way to set "link image(s)" as default? Because I didn't find anything in the Word settings, only totally useless detail settings. I am currently uploading a file and then trying to echo out an anchor linking to that file, but since I used mkdir() with 0700 permissions to upload the file, it won't allow me access to view the file. I am pretty sure the problem I am experiencing is because of the file permission code I used. The problem is I just don't know what all the different file permission codes are and what they mean. • Installing multiple versions of a shared library

  I am running ubuntu 10.04 and I want to use tmux 1.6. tmux has a dependency on libevent 2. My solution was to compile libevent2 and drop into /usr/local/lib then compile tmux against this lib and drop into /usr/local/bin. This works great until...I restart. This is just an assumption on my part but it seems that other binaries are now linking to the libevent2 library presumably because its on the library path. Because there are 60+ packages with libevent1 dependencies this causes my install to basically lose its mind. Is there an idiomatic way to approach running an application that has a core library dependency on a different version? Should I just statically link the lib?

  I believe my question may be best answered by using Access since that's more what it's made for. However, I don't have a license for Access here at work and trying to get one is pulling teeth. So I'm curious if there is any way to compile reports with data in an Excel 2007 sheet. The output can be .doc, .docx, .pdf - or anything else if there's a decent piece of free 3rd party software. This might be easiest solved by just creating another sheet in the same workbook and directly linking to the data I want to display in a report-esque format. But I wanted to see if SU could offer some more creative solutions.

• Why would autoconf/automake project link against installed library instead of local development libr

  I'm creating a library libgdata that has some tests and non-installed programs. I am running into the problem that once I've installed the library once, the programs seem to be linking to the installed version and not the local version in ../src/libgdata.la any longer. What could cause this? Am I doing something horribly wrong? Here is what my test/Makefile.am looks like: INCLUDES = -I$(top_srcdir)/src/ -I$(top_srcdir)/test/ # libapiutil contains all of our dependencies! As far as I can tell, it is linking against the newly built library (../src/libgdata.la) based on the make output, so I'm not sure why this would be happening. If i remove the installed files, the local changes to src/* are picked up just fine. UPDATE 2 I did two tests. First, I did this after blowing away my dev-install directory (--prefix) and in that case, it creates test/.libs/lt-gdatacalendar. Once I have installed the library, though, it creates test/.libs/gdatacalendar instead.   Similar error as other questions, but not quite the same, I am not trying to attach anything. What I am trying to do is insert a new row into a linking table, specifically UserAccomplishment. Relations are set in LINQ to User and Accomplishment Tables. I have a generic insert function: Public Function insertRow(ByVal entity As ImplementationType) As Boolean If entity IsNot Nothing Then Dim lcfdatacontext As New LCFDataContext() Try lcfdatacontext.GetTable(Of ImplementationType)().InsertOnSubmit(entity) lcfdatacontext.SubmitChanges() lcfdatacontext.Dispose() Return True Catch ex As Exception Return False End Try Else Return False End If End Function If you try and give UserAccomplishment the two appropriate objects this will naturally crap out if either the User or Accomplishment already exist. It only works when both user and accomplishment don't exist. I expected this behavior. What does work is simply giving the userAccomplishment object a user.id and accomplishment.id and populating the rest of the fields. This works but is kind of awkward to use in my app, it would be much easier to simply pass in both objects and have it work out what already exists and what doesn't. I have debugged this multiple times now and am not sure why this is occuring, if either User or Accomplishment exist, I am not including it in the final object to try to insert. So nothing appears to be attempted to be added. Even in debug, upon insert, the object was set to empty. So the accomplishment is new and the user is empty. 1) Why is it still saying that and how can I fix it ..using my current structure 2) Pre-emptive 'use repository pattern answers' - I know this way kind of sucks in general and I should be using the repository pattern. However, I can't use that in the current project because I don't have time to refactor that due to my non existence knowledge of it and time constraints. The usage of the app is going to so small that the inefficient use of datacontext's and what have you won't matter so much. I can refactor it once it's up and running, but for now I just need to 'push through' with my current structure. Edit: I also just tested this when having both already exists, and only insert each object's IDs into the table, that works. So I guess I could manually insert whichever object doesn't exist as a single insert, then put the ids only into the linking table, but I still don't know why when one object exists, and I make it empty, it doens't work.
