• Lazy Registration: How to let a guest user start their workflow and prompt registration when they tr

  I'm wondering what I would do to go about letting a guest use my web application without registering, then if they attempt to save their work they are prompted with a registration. This will be in a rails application by the way. Can I just allow public access to part of the work flow, then when they save check if they're a registered user (by session value, or cookie?). If they aren't a registered user, save all their work into the session and let them fill out a sign out form. On successful registration automatically log them in and initiate the create on the db?

• Multiple Payment options within the same order

  I have a requirement to be able to accept different forms of payment within the same order - ie not just the usual credit card or paypal for the whole thing, but perhaps paypal for one item, cheque for another. I know this sounds quite crazy, but there is a good business reason for the requirement so I can't just push back. The best way I can think of implementing it at the moment is to have kind of a hub page, where you can "launch off" into multiple flows for each of the payments by opening new windows. I can't figure out a way of doing this in a linear flow as for example you can't guarantee that a user will come back from paypal, so you'd then lose the user completely. Is there a neater way of doing this that anyone can think of, or can anyone point me to an example of a site that does somethign similar for inspiration?

  Hello, I have a form that contains 3 blocks (block a, b, c). There is a master-detail relationship between b (detail) and c (master). Data-flow: you enter an ID in block a, which in turn populates block c and corresponding details in block b. Control goes immediately to block c. Objective: I need to be able to update details of block b. Issue: I cannot navigate to block b. Keep in Mind: --In the Property Palette Keyboard Navigable is set to "Yes" --Insert Allowed and Update Allowed are set to "Yes." If someone could respond ASAP I would really appreciate it.   Essentially what I am trying to do is setup a work flow similar to PayPal. I have created an application that allows my clients to accept online donations and what I want to do is take % percent of that transaction off the top. The problems I have run into are: Authroize does not allow me to take on an additional fee that is paid out to my account I could run a report every month on all my clients transactions to determine what they owe but this is less than ideal All of the companies I looked at do not allow for aggregation where by all of the donation systems pay into my account then I remit payment to my clients Does anyone know of a company that allows for this or is my only option here going to be to setup my own Payment Gateway or is there a simpler solution?

• Associating logging from two or more processes

  I have two processes that I have up and running and I am doing logging from. One is a client the other is a webservice. I want to setup a central log system where I can track logs and interactions between processes -- for instance I want to be able to associate calls made from the client to the webservice when I look at the logs. I guess this means that somehow the processid of the client process needs to flow over to the webservice in some way for it to be trackable? Is this possible with current logging frameworks such as Enterprise Library or Log4Net? Is there anyone that has looked into something like this? Any help would be appreciated. • How can I prevent MEF from throwing an exception when an Export is not found?

  I have a class with an IList<T> property decorated with the [ImportMany(allowRecomposition = true)] attribute. There are some conditions in which the application might not find any available Exports of the requested type. Right now, it's throwing a CompositionException if no Exports of the requested type are found. I dislike application flow being determined by thrown exceptions, so I would rather not catch and react in this case. Rather, I just want program execution to continue. Is there a flag or something I can set to make this Import optional? I know for single import properties, you can do this: [Import(AllowDefault = true)] but 'AllowDefault' is not an option on the ImportMany attribute.

• Floating Tables Problem Unwanted Space XHTML Strict

  Hi I have two floating tables side by side. One is set to float left, the other one is set to float right. The problem is when two table are floating, they both are out of flow so next table comes without any spacing. So I add a width attribute clear:both. • Extra < using auto complete in Sublime Text 2

  I installed the All Autocomplete package in my Sublime Text 2 editor and everything works fine except when I type "<div" or something similar, the auto-complete box pops up, I select the one I want and hit enter and it adds "<<div></div>" with an extra "<" in the front of my tag. I have to go back and delete the extra "<" every time...(!) I can't seem to resolve this issue. If I use the command CTRL+Space, the box pops up and I can select the tag I want and it does not include the extra tag but that messes with my flow. Has anyone out there experienced this? Thanks for your help!

  /I'm working with and testing on a computer that is built with the following: {1 GB RAM (now 1.5 GB), 1.7 GHz Intel Pentium Processor, ATI Mobility Radeon X600 GFX} I need scale / transform controls and make it flow smoothly. Currently I'm manipulating the size and location of a control every 24-33ms (30fps), ±3px. When I add a 'fade' effect to an image, it fades in and out smoothly, but it is only 25x25 px in size. The control is 450x75 px to 450x250 px in size. In 2D games such as Bejeweled 3, the sprites animate with no choppy animation. So as the title would suggest: which is easier/faster on the processor: animating a bitmap (rendering it to the parent control during animation) or animating the control it's self?

But lets say I have another script with an IF ELSE statment and I would like to set an ELIF statement mid flow as a background task witht the & and then carry on with processing the rest of my script knowing that while rest of the ELIF will carry running in the back ground: #!/bin/bash if cond1; then stuff sleep 10 & stuff stuff elif cond2; then something else else echo "foo" fi stuff echo "Hello World" I really hope this makes sense any help would be greatly appreciated.

  We are looking for some tools to help us with our web development speed. The two main areas that we have pinpointed as parts of the problem are "Framework/Flow Management" and "Visual/Layout Development" Ideally we would find a tool that handles both rather well. However, it seems like there are few tools that handle the middle ground well. Usually it is just a Framework, or and IDE, not both. The best thing we have found so far is Agile Platform. Are we missing any obvious products? Platform at this point is not a huge concern. We can migrate to the best tool.

  Hi, I am recently introduced to the test-driven approach to development by my mentor at work, and he encourages me to write an unit-test whenenver "it makes sense." I understand some benefits of having a throughout unit-test suite for both regression testing and refractoring, but I do wonder how often and how throughout we should write unit-test. My mentor/development lead asks me to write a new unit test-case for a newly written control flow in a method that is already being tested by the exsisting test class, and I think it is an overkill. How often do you write your unit tests, and how detailed do you think your unit tests should be? Thanks!

  I am trying to learn how to write a bookmarklet where I can highlight some text, click on the bookmarklet and have it tell me what got highlighted. I can get that far, but next I want to know what element that text is in. For example: <div id="some-id">to be highlighted</div> The bookmarklet code: javascript:(function(){alert(window.getSelection();})() If I highlight the text "to be highlighted" and then click on the bookmarklet, it will alert the text. But how can I get the element in which the text is in, in this case the element after that? So the flow is: highlight text, click bookmarklet, bookmarklet tells you what you highlighted and the element it's in. Thanks!

• Hibernate: getting a record but it's being updated in the database?

  For some reason Hibernate seems to be keeping my session open and updating the object without me explicitely invoking a save/update/saveorupdate. I guess the session is staying open and it's beeing marked as dirty. However this is not the desired behaviour, so what's the cleanest way to fix this? The issue seems to occur because I store a phone number without formatting in the database but the getter of the object returns a formatted telephone number. My flow: go to a jsp = controller = service = dao DAO getter function if(userId != 0) { return (User)dbFactory.get(User.class, userId); } return null; The service just passes it to the controller and the controller puts te User object in the request scope. I display it on my JSP page using EL.

• How to use Messageboxes in MVVM?

  It seems that the XAML in MVVM pattern has difficulty to pop-up a Messageboxes. My client insists that the validation labels and colors are not good for them. They still want a messagebox. How can do it? I know I can pop-up messageboxes in the view-model, but it violates the whole purpose for the view-model. I can also raise a error, and pop-up a messagebox in some exception handlers, but the messagebox is not an exception. It is part of the normal program flow. Is there a good way to do it in XAML? My client likes messageboxes. She does not care about the MVVM pattern, she never had any quality problem before using MVVM and unit test. But now, she can not even get her messageboxes, so she is not very happy. Your help is definitely appreciated ... I need to make her happy.

  Hi all! I've search for some clues on this problem without much success. Hope someone can kick me in the right direction. I am prototyping a couple of apps where I need to design my own GUI. The GUI is made up by two separated UIViews where one of them contains a small thumb of an image. I want to be able to drag this thumb from the first view to the other. Simple as that! But I haven't figured out how this is done. Here is the exact flow I am looking for: touch the thumb animate a small enlargement of the thumb drag the thumb to the other UIView drop the thumb animate a shrink of the thumb Not particularly strange, but the thumb remains related to the first view all the time. I've tried to move the thumb via the first views superview and then back to the second view, but with no luck.

So I have a flow like this: Input: aa12345b Clean input somehow: 12345 Test if clean input is valid Use input if valid Now I want to do this in a beautiful OO-fashion (IoC, interfaces, testable, no statics, you know). Any ideas how to organize a class structure for this? Is it good to have a Cleaner and a Parser/Validator class separately, or put them as methods in the data class itself? • SSIS - SharePoint to SQL without Adapter Addin?

  Hey all, Im looking to Extract a SharePoint List (WSS 2.0) to a SQL(2005) Table using SQL Server Integrated Services. First off I am aware of the "adapter" that does this from http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd365137.aspx however I'm just wondering for compatibility purposes if it can't just be done "out of the box". There are only a limited number of "Data Flow Sources" to select as alternatives and I am unsure if any of these would be able to work in a similar way either directly to SharePoint or via SharePoints web services (e.g. http://server_name/_vti_bin/Lists.asmx) From the list of these sources it looks like the best option would be the OLE DB connector, but not sure how it would do this. Any help you have would be great, Mark

• What technologies are appropriate for a human workflow system?

  I'm researching various workflow architectures and it is overwhelming. The workflow system I am creating will be almost completely human-driven. Very little, if any, asynchronous activity will be taking place. One possibility is to simply use a RDBMS and have a task table, from which stored procedures would be used to enforce synchronous access to each task. This seems very simple, but I'm having a hard time coming up with reasons why I might need to involve a heavier solution. If my system has ~500 concurrent users, and there is very little in the way of automated or asynchronous tasks, should I even consider the various workflow patterns/packages out there like Mule, BPEL/SOA, Spring Work Flow, etc?
