  • Facebook profile search using email address of a user

    Hello, If I have email address of a user, is there any way to find the profile of the user? I know it can be done using the uid and name of the user (GetInfo() or fql.query). The specific problem I am trying to address is when I search for a user using the name field, I end up getting multiple results (people with the same name). I have the email address of the user I want to search, so if I can search using email address, I will be able to reach to the specific user. Alternately, if there's a way to find uid for a given email address, I can get the user I am looking for. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!

    Hi, I have two tables. One named status like this... user_id | status --------+----------- 1 | random status from user 1 2 | random status from user 2 3 | random message from user 3 4 | staus from user 4 1 | second status for user1 etc... and another named users_following like this... user_id | is_following --------+----------- 1 | 2 1 | 3 2 | 1 3 | 2 meaning that user 1 is following both users 2 and 3 etc... So, let's say I chose user 1. What is the best query (performance wise) to show the status updates of users that user 1 is following, in this case users 2 and 3 currently I have something like SELECT * from status WHERE user_id IN(SELECT is_following FROM users_following WHERE user_id='1') LIMIT 0,5 but I don't think this is good for performance if a user was following thousands+ of users

    After trying to find a reference to an API/tutorial to such thing, I have come here. I would like to scan a specific group wall, pulling all posts from it, with PHP or C#. In the end, I would like to have a nested-array containing each posts, with the next details: An array of the related comments Likes Views Obviously, I don't ask for any code, only a reference to the related API I will need to use. EDIT: If this is not possible, should I consider cURL as an option?

    I tried the option of students.item["http://www.myurl.com"].comments.data.length. However, the item["http://www.myurl.com"] call is not working. If I take out the URL from JSON object and write the iterator with students.comments.data, it works.     I'm writing ActionScript game and wanted to integrate it with FB, so I used http://code.google.com/p/facebook-actionscript-api/ with custom dialog function I've found in same issue thread. It goes like this: protected function dialog(method:String, callback:Function, stageReference:Stage, stageWebView:StageWebView, params:* = null):void { dialogCallback = callback; stageRef = stageReference; webView = stageWebView; webView.stage = stageReference; webView.assignFocus(); dialogWindow = new DialogWindow(handleDialog); dialogWindow.open(method, applicationId, webView, params); } I've written module to handle all the FB stuff and it worked perfectly. But few days ago I've noticed that dialog shows up, but when I select friends and try to send apprequest to them i get error: An error occurred with your app. Please try again later. API Error Code: 2 API Error Description: Service temporarily unavailable Error Message: User can't send this request: Unknown error I've checked it, and found out, that after selecting friends and clicking send dialog changes location to http://www.facebook.com/dialog/apprequest, the error occures, and than after clicking "ok" it changes location to redirect_uri. Do you have any ideas? Is this my fault or facebooks'?

  • Is there an easy way to always redirect facebook.com to facebook.com/events/list (Firefox, Osx)

    I often use facebook for communication while working. When I do, I'd rather not see the facebook newsfeed. Unfortunately it's hard to remember to not go to the frontpage and use facebook.com/messages or facebook.com/events. Is there any way to always redirect from the url https://www.facebook.com/ to https://www.facebook.com/events/list? I use firefox on osx. I have tried the redirector addon and I'm not able to make it work, not sure if I'm missing something obvious or if it's outdated/buggy.

This worked okay for basic modules that only had one content display, but for a module like DNNSimpleArticle this didn’t work well as the URLs for each article didn’t come across as individual URLs because of the way the Facebook code is formatted.     This may a Firefox question rather than Ubuntu but since the plug-in seem to be integrated with the Ubuntu status bar so I think I should try my luck here. Just update to Firefox 17 and not sure why now when I go to Facebook a icon show in launcher and a entry for Facebook at the top-right conner under the message icon. How can I disable this plug-in?     I am trying to connect to a IM account (WebEx connect - Protocol: Jabber/xmpp) with Thunderbird 15 but it fails to connect. It doesn't throw any error just says "Not Connected". Pidgin works perfectly with the same setting what I provided in Thunderbird 15. So the question is Will Thunderbird chat account(xmpp) support libnss3 Do I debug and collect info, when Thunderbird tries to connect to a chat account? I'm on Ubuntu 12.04
