  • MySQL my.cnf file not being read, Ubuntu 10.04 64bit

    I've been researching this for a few hours with no luck. Basically it looks like my server's my.cnf file isn't being read at all. I've searched my server, and there's only one my.cnf file on it, located at /etc/mysql/my.cnf. Its ownership is root:root. I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 64bit on a Linode.com server. I have the latest versions of MySQL and PHP installed. I've edited the my.cnf file, commented out "skip-innodb", and have set innodb to be the default storage engine using default-storage-engine = innodb And then restarted mysql. But when I do show engines, MyISAM is still coming up as the default engine. Also - none of the innodb settings I've added to the my.cnf file are being read. For example, I have this in my.cnf: innodb_buffer_pool_size=4G But in phpmyadmin, InnoDB is showing as having a buffer pool size of 8,192 KiB. Similarly, I have this in the my.cnf: innodb_data-file_path = ibdata1:500M:autoextend But in phpmyadmin, it's reading as ibdata1:10M:autoextend. It doesn't look like MyISAM info is being read from the my.cnf file either. The my.cnf file has skip-external-locking queried out, but it's showing as "on" in phpmyadmin. So - yeah, it looks like nothing in the my.cnf file is being read at all. But the server still works. I'm running a Drupal site on it and it seems to operate fine. So mysql seems to be drawing default settings from... some mysterious secret location. Any idea how I can make mysql see and use this my.cnf file? Actually, wait - it looks like it may be being read, not sure. I checked the error.log and found this: 101128 4:28:52 [ERROR] Cannot find or open table databasename/cache_apachesolr from the internal data dictionary of InnoDB though the .frm file for the table exists. Maybe you have deleted and recreated InnoDB data files but have forgotten to delete the corresponding .frm files of InnoDB tables, or you have moved .frm files to another database? or, the table contains indexes that this version of the engine doesn't support.   • Open Source Embedded Database Options for .Net Applications

    I have a .Net 4.0 WPF application that requires an embedded database. MS Access doesn't work on 64 bit Windows I'm told. And I having issues with SSCE: Unable to load DLL 'sqlceme35.dll': This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800736B1) sqlceme35.dll is installed into my application's program files directory, so I can't seem to figure out why Windows XP Pro doesn't see it. I was wondering about other embedded databases options I might use that work on both 32 and 64 bit windows. Any suggestions?

Invalid ESCAPE sequence as an output. I've googled around to find out about 335544972 error code, and it seems to be something about invalid connection string, but I haven't found any "official" info about that. Hase anybody encountered anything similar so one could tell me what am I doing wrong? Thanks.

    We are currently evaluating Web servers for an embedded device. We have laid down the evaluation criteria for things like HTTP version, Security, Compression etc. On the embeddable side, we have identified the following criteria: Memory footprint Memory management (support for plugging in a custom memory manager) CPU usage Thread usage (support for thread pool) Portability What I want inputs on is: Are there any other criteria that an embeddable software should meet? What exactly does it mean when someone says that a software is designed for embeddable use? We currently have zeroed in on two Web servers: AppWeb Lighttpd (lighty) Feature wise, both the above Web servers seem to be on par. However, it is claimed that AppWeb is designed for embedded use while Lighttpd is not. To choose between the above two Web servers, what criteria should I be looking at?

  • Feasability of reverse engineering some embedded code

    All, My company is in the situation where we are using an embedded control system from another company in another country. We do not have the source code or the schematics to this system, and the manufacturer doesn't want to release them, seemingly at any price or under any terms. We are thus stuck with a 6 month turn around to get even a small modification done, and they can basically charge any amount they want. Legal aspects aside, would it be at all feasible to reverse engineer the embedded code back into C? Do any companies exist that could do this for us? Thank you, Fred

    I'm new to mysql, I'm trying to run Wordpress inmy windows desktop and it need Mysql. I install everything with Web Platform Installer which provided by microsoft. I never seta root password for mysql and in final step of installing wordpressit askfor root password of mysql. What is the default password for root (if there is one) and how to change it? I try mysql -u root password '123' but it show me Access denied for user 'root@localhost' (using password:NO) after this I try mysql -u root -p but it ask for a password which I don't have Thank you in advance

  • What advantages does Windows Embedded Enterprise give you?

    My company has built a machine that measures wedge and roundness of lenses by reading and interacting with very precise indicators, motors, and a switch panel. The interface for the machine is a WPF application and it runs on Windows Vista on a normal PC bought from the store. I've never worked with Windows Embedded, but it sounds to me like it's intended for this type of system. My question is, what does it buy me? If I were to run this on Windows Embedded Enterprise (Vista) what benefits do I get? Do I get more control of the load, login, and all that? Can I make it more seamless where it doesn't really feel just like a normal application running full screen? Is it something I should look into more?

  • How to turn off the binary log for mysqld_multi instances?

    MySQL supports running multiple mysqld on the same server. One of the ways is to use mysqld_multi. If the default MySQL server instance (as configured in the [mysqld] section in my.cnf) uses log-bin, it enables the binary log for all the other instances ([mysqld1], [mysqld2], etc). How can we override the setting for the other instances? We tried putting log-bin= or log-bin=OFF under [mysqld1], but that won't disable the binary log.
