• Completely remove and freshly install MySql on XP?

  I have read this question and have not found it as a solution and I have even attempted much more. I've uninstalled MySql 5.5.18 and deleted: C:\Program Files\MySql C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\MySql After uninstalling, I restart the computer. When I reinstall, in the MySql Server Instance Configuration Wizard I leave everything to their defaults except: I add a firewall exception I check Launch MySQL Server Automatically I check Include BIN directory in windows path Enable root access from remote machines (I'll lock that down later, just debugging for now, I have also tried installing without this option to no avail) I've tried Typical and Complete while installing, as well as with and without strict mode. No combination shows a difference. After all this, it cannot Apply Security Settings and I get a 10061 error (it also said error number 2003) and this article didn't help. I've tried everything I can to completely uninstall and successfully reinstall so I can start from scratch. I've uninstalled and reinstalled about a dozen times with minor changes (including turning off the firewall at times), each time deleting the above folders and any proper registry entries with no success. Note by success, applying security settings and a working remote connection. I can connect locally every time, but it's remotely that counts. I have tried to look for exterior problems such as port forwarding in the router and (even though the installer should add it) I do double check the firewall settings, which have always allowed the default port. I'm out of ideas.

• I can't remove a background image in Powerpoint 2007

  Hello Everyone! I have a Powerpoint 2007 document. There is this annoying background graphic in my Powerpoint slide. I know about slide master, but this little bugger is not something that I can delete from slide master. Argh!!!!   Given a text file with space separated string and a tab separated integer, I'd ;like to get rid of all words that have non-alpha characters but keep words consisting of alpha only characters and the tab plus the integer afterwards. My attempts like the ones below didin't yield any good. What I was trying to express is something like: "replace anything within word boundaries that starts and ends with 0 or more whatever and there is at least one :digits: or :punct: in between". sed 's/\b.[:digits::punct:]+.\b//g' sed 's/\b.[^:alpha:]+.\b//g' What am I missing?   I have a bunch of large documents, with many tables that have different and inconsistent fill styles - some of them are not readable in black and white when printed. I cannot change the background fill for all the tables at once. The problem I have is that when I open such a document, and Select All, the Table Properties are inactive.   When I upgraded from Windows Vista to Windows 7, I copied all of my files back over from the Windows.old folder. When I was done I deleted the Windows.old folder with the deleted key and then deleted it from my recycle bin. This was about 2 months ago. I recently found out that there was a process to removing that folder. What do I do now? Im sure the files have already been overwritten so is there anything that I should do?

• Cannot remove storage account because of lease, but I already deleted the server [closed]

  I recently created a temporary virtual server on Azure. Then I deleted it. I wanted to delete the storage account associated with it because I didn't need it any more. The problem is that the VHD file is still associated to a non-existing virtual machine!! If I try to delete the VHD from Virtual Machines\Disks I get the Delete button greyed and the table tells me it's still associated with the old VM. If I go to storage administration and try to delete the blob from vhds/ directory I get there is an active lease. I've read on Azure forums that, in these case, one should try to force releasing the lease from the blob. I followed their instructions and downloaded their script, but running it failed. The script detected that the disk is associated to a Virtual Machine and can't be deleted. The problem is that I'm 1000000% sure that I already deleted the VM. In fact, I currently only have a single VM that has its own HD and is up and running fine! What can I do to delete that storage account that is probably sucking money from my pocket?

  I used to record important technical meetings and demos using Camtasia Studio, using a Mic to capture the speaker voice. Sometimes we invite attendees by asking them to call us in the meeting, and they would call on a cell phone then we switch it to loudspeaker so we can hear and talk to them and also record the conversation on Camtasia. The problem I am having now is that playing back those recording produces the regular noise that results from the microphone being close to the mobile phone (the kind of noise you hear when your mobile phone rings and it is near a speaker). Any advice on removing this noise?

  I have an issue where urls that end in a "/" after a file name causes css/js to break. I.e., http://www.mysite.com/index.php/ <-- breaks http://www.mysite.com/ <-- OK, only breaks for file names To fix, I tried adding a Redirect 301 directive in the vhost file as such where I'm checking to see if there's an extension with a slash after it: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName mysite.com Redirect 301 ^(.*?\..+)/$ http://mysite.com/$1 </VirtualHost> The redirect appears to do nothing. Is this an issue with my implementation or is what I'm trying to accomplish not possible with a Redirect 301 in the vhost file?

But in Library I have just couple old apps, which long time ago I used. So how I can sync the library in iTunes with my existing apps from iPad? EDIT: I have tried to click on Transfer Purchases, but not all of the items went to the library, just few of them.

How can I get rid of these 2 results from Google search results? How can I get Google to de-index it?   We are using hadoop to split a table into smaller files to feed to mahout, but in the process, we created a huge amount of _temporary logs. we have an nfs mount for the hadoop volume so we can use all the linux commands to delete folders files, but we just can't get them to be deleted, here's what I've tried so far: hadoop fs -rmr /.../_temporary : hangs for hours and does nothing on nfs mount: rmr -rf /.../_temporary :hangs for hours and does nothing find . -name '*.*' -type f -delete : same as above the folders look like this (38 of these folders inside _temporary): drwxr-xr-x 319324 user user 319322 Oct 24 12:12 _attempt_201310221525_0404_r_000000_0 the content of these are actually folders, not files. each one of those 319322 folders has exactly one file inside. not sure why the do the logging this way. Any help is appreciated.

• Can't delete ntuser.dat file to remove profiles after reboot

  I've ran into an issue where some servers will not release the handle on the ntuser.dat file even after a reboot. Or quite possible, after the reboot, the ntuser.dat file is getting re-loaded into memory. The user accounts are definitely not being accessed (some of them belong to users that have not been with the company in over a year). It seems to be on Windows 2003 servers, but I can't be 100% certain that there aren't some 2000 servers showing this issue as well. When I try to use process explorer or handle.exe from sysinternals to kill the handle on these ntuser.dat files, the handle remains open and connected. Handle.exe even reports that the handle was broken while it remains in use. I've even taken ownership on the file and tried to kill the handle to no effect (windows shows I have ownership of the file, but still refuses to release the handle). I have looked into the registry to see if I can discover where the files may be getting loaded at. Unfortunately, the username is appearing in too many places for me to be certain which one is actually loading their reg file into memory. Any suggestions on how I can either break the handle on the files, or prevent them from getting re-loaded after a reboot?

• Not able to safely remove external disk after having mounted and unmounted a VHD on it

  I am using Windows 7 SP 1. I have an external hard disk (Seagate 500GB) which I am able to use without problems most of the time. I am able to plug it in, use it and then safely unmount it via the "Eject USB Mass Storage Device" option in the taskbar tray. However, if I attach a VHD file located on this disk using "Disk Management", then detach the VHD and finally try to safely disconnect the disk via the system tray, I get an error which says: "Problem Ejecting USB Mass Storage Device: Windows can't stop your 'Generic volume' device because a program is still using it. Close any programs that might be using the device, and then try again later." How do I avoid this problem? Which process could still be accessing the device (even after I have closed the "Disk Management" application) ?

  Yesterday I installed an SSD in my MacBook and kept my original HDD with a "data doubler" (replaces the DVD-drive with a hard-drive bay). That means I have my OS (and applications) on both my SSD and HDD. Is it possible to get rid of the OS on the HDD? I think that removing everything but the ~/users-folder from the HDD should solve this problem, right? If not, what is the best solution to achieve this?

  I have an application that tries to open as many http requests as possible (in order to stress test a proxy implementation) It seems to me that Win7 (SP1) may have a limitation on number of concurrent opened connection (it may be the so called half-open state if I'm not wrong). Is there something I can do for client ? and also I test using a vista PC that acts as a proxy server. It would be great if I could configure it to sustain at least 50 new connections initiated / second on client side and many more on server. I made the modification according to this technet article by setting TcpNumConnections = 150 but it doesn't make a difference. I still only see about 20 tcp sockets associated with my http client by using tcpview.

  Alright, first, let me explain. I purchased some content through Microsoft's Zune/Xbox Video service, and man that was a mistake. After trying several times to get the video to play, I received an error along the lines of "out of licenses." Lucky for me, I was able to recover the file I was looking for off of a backup, but now I'm having problems playing it. It works fine in Windows Media Player, but not in Zune or Xbox Video (on Windows 8). I contacted Zune's customer support, and of course they couldn't help me. So, I legally own the content, I just want to be able to play it where I want to play it. It's ridiculous that I can't. I know there are ways to do this out there, I just can't figure it out (I keep getting directed to this piece of junk thing called Almedia, which kind of seems to work, but was only putting out audio in the demo version).
