  Hey I'm rather new to these could someone explain the significance (of the following code) or prehaps give a link to some useful information on lambda expressions? I encounter the following code in a test and I am wondering why someone would do this: foo.MyEvent += (o, e) => { fCount++; Console.WriteLine(fCount); }; foo.MyEvent -= (o, e) => { fCount++; Console.WriteLine(fCount); }; My instinct tells me it is something simple and not a mistake, but I don't know enough about these expressions to understand why this is being done. • Best way of implementing a batch like operation in a RESTful architecture?

  Hello, We have a predominantly RESTful architecture for our product. This enables us to nicely implement almost all of the required functionality, except this new requirement thats come in. I need to implement a page which lets the user to large scale DB operations synchronously. They can stop the operation in between, if they realized they made a mistake (rather than waiting for it to complete and doing an undo operation) I was wondering if some one could give some pointers as to what would be the best way to implement such a functionality? • Servlet stops working on Tomcat server after some hits or time

  I have a very strange issue with some of my servlets. Below is my configuration: Folder A has X number of servlets deployed in Tomcat directory Folder B has Y number of servlets deployed in Tomcat directory After certain amount of time or hits to any of the servlets in Folder B, it stops working properly, whereas at same time all servlets of Folder A works fine. I am not able to trace where I am doing mistake. All coding for both folder's servlets is the same, the only difference is they are interacting with different DB's, but it is very simple read only operation with DB though. Any ideas?

  Hi all I am converting an ASP.Net 2.0 Project to compile for .Net Framework 3.5 and facing the following compiler error for assembly reference... InternalXmlHelper.vb(9,0): error BC30560: 'ExtensionAttribute' is ambiguous in the namespace 'System.Runtime.CompilerServices'. It appears that there are duplicate assembly references one from 2.0 and the other from 3.5 but i have double checked it and its not the issue.. I have also googled around...with no success.. I have sure that i am doing some tiny mistake in additiona or removal of references,,,Is there any special thing that needs to be checked or done when compiling asp.net 2.0 project under .Net Framework 3.5 ?   Hello guys, I started with bitbucket and tried to use the wiki for my documentation. Therefore, i created a folder "documentation" unter the folder "wiki" (same level as home.wiki) and added some .wiki files. Now i'm trying to display all these contents of Documentation/ as table of contents. Therefore, i added the line: <<toc Documentation/ 2 >> After commit and push my home.wiki page really shows a TOC, but it contains only the first file stored in the folder Documentation/. • Boost Thread Hanging on _endthreadex

  I think I am making a simple mistake, but since I noticed there are many boost experts here, I thought I would ask for help. I am trying to use boost threads(1_40) on windows xp. The main program loads a dll, starts the thread like so (note this is not in a class, the static does not mean static to a class but private to the file). static boost::thread network_thread; network_start() { // do network stuff until quit is signaled } DllClass::InitInstance() { network_thread = boost::thread(boost::bind<void>(network_start)); } DllClass::ExitInstance() { //signal quit (which works) //the following code is slightly verbose because I'm trying to figure out what's wrong try { if (network_thread.joinable() ) { network_thread.join(); } else { TRACE("Too late!"); } } catch (boost::thread_interrupted&) { TRACE("NET INTERRUPTED"); } } The problem is that the main thread is hanging on the join, and the network thread is hanging at the end of _endthreadex. What am I misunderstanding?

  I have an HttpHandler class (implements IHttphandler) where the path defined for the handler in web.config is *.jpg. I am requesting a Jpg image in my page. Within the HTTP Handler I am writing to a file in the filesystem. By mistake I was trying to write to a non existant directory. This should have thrown an exception but the execution simply proceeds.Ofcourse no file is writte. But if I give a proper directory the file is written correctly.Is there anything special about HttpHandler Exceptions. • Active Merchant Paypal Recurring Pem Error Neither Pub Nor Priv Key

  Hi, I am trying to use ActiveMerchant to make a Paypal Recurring transaction call. I used the patch here: http://blog.vuzit.com/2008/08/01/paypal-website-payments-pro-us-with-recurring-billing-and-activemerchant/ and I'm stuck on this here: ActiveMerchant::Billing::PaypalGateway.pem_file = File.read('paypal_cert.pem') I am fairly sure the pem file is correctly downloaded from paypal. The error I receive is: /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/activemerchant-1.5.1/lib/active_merchant/lib/connection.rb:129:in initialize': Neither PUB key nor PRIV key:: nested asn1 error (OpenSSL::PKey::RSAError) from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/activemerchant-1.5.1/lib/active_merchant/lib/connection.rb:129:innew' from calling the commit method from line 49 of paypal_pro_recurring. I simply have 2 files - paypal_pro_recurring.rb from the tutorial and paypalTest.rb which I wrote and simply requires all files and calls the function. I hope the error isn't something stupid like I must require from an environment file or something. Thanks all!

  I am looking for something that will make it easy to run (correctly coded) embarrassingly parallel JVM code on a cluster (so that I can use Clojure + Incanter). I have used Parallel Python in the past to do this. We have a new PBS cluster and our admin will soon set up IPython nodes that use PBS as the backend. Both of these systems make it almost a no-brainer to run certain types of code in a cluster. I made the mistake of using Hadoop in the past (Hadoop is just not suited to the kind of data that I use) - the latency made even small runs execute for 1-2 minutes. Is JPPF or Gridgain better for what I need? Does anyone here have any experience with either? Is there anything else you can recommend?

• C# UTF8 output keep encoded characters intact

  Hello, i have a very simple question I can't seem to get my head around. I have a properly encoded UTF8-String I parse into a JObject with Json.NET, fiddle around with some values and write it to the commandline, keeping the encoded characters intact. Everything works great except for the keeping the encoded characters intact part. Code: var json = "{roster: [[\"Tulg\u00f4r\", 990, 1055]]}"; var j = JObject.Parse(json); for (int i = 0; i < j["roster"].Count(); i++) { j["roster"][i][1] = ((int)j["roster"][i][1]) * 3; j["roster"][i][2] = ((int)j["roster"][i][2]) * 3; } Console.WriteLine(JsonConvert.SerializeObject(j, Formatting.None)); Actual Output: {"roster":[["Tulgôr",2970,3165]]} Desired Output: {"roster":[["Tulg\u00f4r",2970,3165]]} It seems like my phrasing in Google is inappropriate since nothing useful came up. • Difference between implementing an interface and applying an attribute in C#

  This might be a stupid question but Ill ask anyway, I was reading "OOP Demystified: A Self-Teaching Guide by Jim Keogh and Mario Giannini" chapter 11 which covers interfaces. The examples in this book are C++. I noticed that C++ uses ISerializable to make a class serializable which you would implement where as in C# you just attribute the class with the [Serializable] attribute. What is the key difference here? Is it that with an interface you must provide the implementation where as if you attribute something the compiler will work out the implementation for you? I guess that with the [Serializable] attribute the .Net framework uses reflection to make the serialized object from the actual object. That said is it possible in that case to have an [Disposable] attribute or using my theory above the framework wont know how to actually dispose of an object hence you have to do it yourself? Would be grateful for a clarification. Thanks.

  I'm running a very simple query that I think should work. The only thing that I haven't done before is put a php variable in the WHERE clause of the query. The variable $X is a numerical value, say 100. When I run this query, I just get a value of 0 returned. Am I doing something obviously stupid? SELECT generator_64k.n FROM generator_64k WHERE generator_64k.n<= '$X' I've looked around the web and also tried this: SELECT generator_64k.n FROM generator_64k WHERE generator_64k.n<= '" . $X . • Compile C# into objective-C

  Now that monotouch is being banned, I was wondering if there is a way to translate C# (or some other modern language for that matter) into objective-C? I won't mind using apple's api as long as I don't have to declare my variables in 3-4 stages (ivar-property-synthesize-dealloc). All I want is a less wordy language to concentrate on my intent and not on the compiler syntax. unfortunately apple in its arrogance thinks objective-c is a "modern" language and if you are looking for an alternative (monotouch) it's because you are incapable of coding. also if you don't find programming in itunes; sorry, xcode enjoyable, it is not because there are better alternatives, it's because you are stupid. anyway back to my original question: can it be done?

• Git exclude a commit in a branch

  I have a commit, I have stored in a branch, because this should go only to a specific box. I have merged it to the branch master, but not the branch dev, that I use locally. Now, by mistake I merged master to dev and that introduced this commit to dev. I know can git revert sha, to branch dev; but since this is going to introduce a commit that undoes that commit (I am guessing, I haven't exactly tried this), when I merge master, will this commit be undone too? If so, how do I undo this commit only from the branch dev. And oh, git reset HEAD^1 --hard is not an option because there are other commits on master, after the un-needed commit. If reset back again and apply is the only option, then how do I only merge those extra commits from master other than the un-needed commit. Thanks in advance!

• Problem creating site using Microsoft Visual Web Developer Express 2008

  Hi, this is a very newbie question, sorry! I need to create an aspx website based con C# and am calling some webservices based on some DLL's I already have. Beforem purchasing Visual Studio, I decided to try Microsoft Visual Web Developer Express (is this ok?) creating a Web Application ASP.NET based on Visual C#. I created the form to enter the data which is submitted when clicking the process button. At this point I need to call stuff from the DLL, which I have added in the Solution Explorer via Add Reference, selecting the DLL from the COM list. But whenever I run the project, I always get the error "the type or namespace xxx cannot be found - maybe a using directive or assembler directive is missing" when trying to create the object. What is my stupid mistake? Thanks!
