  • [CSS] Margin display disparity between IE7 and FF3

    - by Ricky
Hi everyone: Refer to HTML, CSS below. Why the margin-bottom will not reflect in IE7, but in FF3? Is there any workaround for it? Notice that I set margin: 50 in CSS. <body style="background-color:#fff"> <div class="window"> d-window </div> CSS: body{margin:10px;padding:0;background-color:#1e1e1e;color:#ddd; border: 1px solid #000000} .window { width:280px; clear:both; margin: 50px; border: 1px solid #000000} Thanks

    - by Daniel Garcia

I have a website in Joomla, and I have some .css (layout.css, position.css, .... ) and I have at home of the website, 3 buttons, I tested in localhost, and when I see the home well, I upload everything to production, to my server. Now, I just edited some styles of these buttons, for example, the width, in order to see them better...but I'm having a problem with the cache, because sometimes I see them with new changes, but other times I see with the old styles.....I realized that this happens especially with chrome Could you help me, please? Best regards, Daniel

  • "Dynamic" CSS styling in asp .net?

    - by DeeMac
I have the following inside a content place holder in my asp .net pages: <style type="text/css"> #sortable1 { list-style-type: none; margin: 0; padding: 0; zoom: 1; } #sortable1 li { margin: 3px; padding: 3px; width: 90%; border: 1px solid #000000; background: #000000; color: #FFFFFF; } #sortable1 li.highlightWorkflow { background: #FFFF00; color: #000000; } </style> I would ideally like to swap the #00000's for values held on the page, maybe in hidden fields. Is this possible?

  • In which order are CSS styles applied?

    - by citronas
I have the following HTML. <ul> <li> <a>asdas</a> </li> </ul> In my CSS stylesheet I have general settings for the a tag, and several hundered lines later settings for ul li a. Like this: a:link { color: red; } ... ul li a { color:blue; } Firebug tells me, that first the color:blue is loaded, and afterwards overriden by color:red So far I've always thought, that the order of loading css files and the order of style inside a single css file tell the browser how html elements should be formatted. Unfortunately I'm now experiencing it vice versa. So tell me, how must I correct my style to achieve the a tag inside the li to be rendered blue and not red?

  • ASP.NET: CSS friendly calendar control

    - by pbz
I'm using the built-in Calendar control. It works, but in a few places the way the HTML is rendered is broken or not CSS-friendly and unfortunately cannot be changed (it's hard coded). I was hoping they would fix this in .NET 4.0, but as far as I can tell the Calendar control hasn't been changed at all. Also, as far as I know, there's no CSS adapter for the Calendar control. So, I would need a control that would: Allow me to customize the content of each cell (like OnDayRender works) Allow me to assign CSS classes to any HTML it may render Not render anything automatically that cannot be turned off, except layout code No auto-postback or auto-JS code (I can handle these by hand using simple links or custom JS calls) Basically a simple calendar view control that would give me full rendering control. What would you recommend? Thanks!

  • Sanitizing CSS in Rails

    - by Erik
Hello! I want to allow the users of a web app that I'm building to write their own CSS in order to customize their profile page. However I am aware of this opening up for many security risks, i e background: url('javascript:alert("Got your cookies! " + document.cookies'). Hence I am looking for a solution to sanitize the CSS while still allowing as much CSS functionality as possible for my users. So my questions if anyone anyone knows of a gem or a plugin to handles this? I've googled my brains out already so any tips would be really appreciated!

  • Adding CSS styles to injected DOM elements

    - by Nyxynyx
    I am using javascript to inject a few DOM elements into the page. I am able to inject a single DOM element and apply CSS style to it: var $e = $('<div id="header"></div>'); $('body').append($e); $e.css({ background: '#fbf7f7', }); Problem: If I have nested elements within $e, how can I apply CSS styles to the parents and its children seperately? var $e = $('<div id="header"><div class="header-content"><span class="title"></span></div></div>');

  • Dynamic CSS class names in GWT

    - by Anupam Jain
I am in the process of porting a simple CSS grid system to GWT. My CSS file currently has classes like .size1, .size2 etc., and I have a CSS resource that looks like - class MyResource extends CSSResource { @ClassName("size1") String size1(); @ClassName("size2") String size2(); // And so on } However what I really want, is to have a single function like the following - String size(int size); which will generate the appropriate class when passed the size as an integer at runtime. This is needed as I perform some calculations to determine the actual space available/needed for a widget in javascript and then attach the appropriate class name. Is this something that is even possible with GWT?

  • How to read from CSS files with jQuery

    - by Neurofluxation
Ok, I have a HTML page with jQuery included. I have a CSS file with a good load of lines in, I would like to read all styles for a given element from the external CSS file... Not the inline styles... I have the following code (which looks like it should work...): var styleProperties= {}; var getCssProperties = ['width', 'margin', 'height']; for (c=0;i<=returnStyleProps.length;c++) { styleProperties[returnStyleProps[c]] = $('div#container').css(returnStyleProps[c]); alert(styleProperties); } alert(styleProperties); But this only seems to alert: "[Object Object]" Any ideas you clever people?

  • CSS gaps between image links for no reason

    - by Infiniti Fizz
Hi, I've been trying to get this horizontal navigation sorted for the past few hours now and nothing is working. I've tried reset.css stylesheets, *{padding: 0; margin: 0) etc. and I still have gaps inbetween my image links. You see, the navigation is made up of an unordered list of image links displayed inline, but there are gaps in between each image, left, right, top and bottom and I can't see why. It's the same in all browsers. Here is a link to the page, and so source: Beansheaf Temporary I can't post more than one link (damn reputation) so the css is at the same url but in the directory "styles" and is called "fund2.css". The rest of the site is obviously still not done, it's just the navigation I'm worried about right now. Thanks in advance, infiniti fizz

  • How to change input button image using CSS?

    - by Baltimark
So, I can create an input button with an image using <INPUT type="image" src="/images/Btn.PNG" value=""> But, I can't get the same behavior using CSS. for instance, i've tried <INPUT type="image" class="myButton" value=""> where "myButton" is defined in the css file as .myButton{ background:url(/images/Btn.PNG) no-repeat; cursor:pointer; width: 200px; height: 100px; border: none; } If that's all I wanted to do, I could use the original style, but I want to change the button's appearance on hover (using a myButton:hover class). I know the links are good because I've been able to load them for a background image for other parts of the page (just as a check). I found examples on the web of how to do it using javascript, but I'm looking for a css solution. I'm using Firefox 3.0.3 if that makes a difference. Thanks

  • best way to output a full precision double into a text file

    - by flevine100
Hi, I need to use an existing text file to store some very precise values. When read back in, the numbers essentially need to be exactly equivalent to the ones that were originally written. Now, a normal person would use a binary file... for a number of reasons, that's not possible in this case. So... do any of you have a good way of encoding a double as a string of characters (aside from increasing the precision). My first thought was to cast the double to a char[] and write out the chars. I don't think that's going to work because some of the characters are not visible, produce sounds, and even terminate strings ('\0'... I'm talkin to you!) Thoughts?

  • css problem with unordered lists (as usual with IE)

    - by Emin
    I am using un-ordered lists that nests some divs to show the desired output on screen. I am using css to style them and they seem to look perfect on chrome and firefox. But in IE(8) it looks there is a problem which I was unable to locate. I am using the below CSS <style type="text/css"> .ur_container {width:980px; padding: 0; margin: 0;} .ur_container ul.bx_grp {list-style-type: none; padding: 0px; margin: 0px; } .ur_container ul.bx_lnx {list-style-type: none; padding: 5px; margin: 0px; } .bx_grp {border:1px solid #c5c5c5; background-color: yellow; margin:0; padding:0;} .bx_grp_header {background-color: #d6d6d6; border-bottom:1px solid #acacac;} .bx_grp_title {float: left; font: bold 11px Arial; padding:5px;} .bx_grp_options {float: right; font: 10px Arial; padding: 5px;} .bx_grp_options a{color: #125B93; text-decoration: none; } .bx_lnx {padding:0px; background-color: red;} .bx_lnx_header {font:11px Arial; color:#333;} .bx_lnx_title {float: left;} .bx_lnx_refno {background-color:#333; color: fff; padding: 1px; margin-right: 5px; } .bx_lnx_options {float: right;} .bx_lnx_options a {color: #258CF4; text-decoration: none;} .bx_lnx_url {font: 9px Arial; color: #999; margin-top: 4px; } .bx_lnx_notes {} .bx_lnx_notes span {background-color: #FDFFCC; color: #666; font: 9px Arial; padding:2px;} .bx_lnx_tags {} .bx_lnx_tags span {background-color: #efefef; border-bottom: 1px solid #ccc; color: #666; font: 9px Arial; padding: 1px 2px 1px 2px; margin-right: 5px;} </style> Against the following HTML <div class="ur_container"> <ul class="bx_grp" id="grp_1"> <li> <div class="bx_grp_header"> <span class="bx_grp_title">Personal File</span> <span class="bx_grp_options"><a href="#">rename</a> &bull; <a href="#">make private</a> &bull; <a href="#">hide</a href="#"> &bull; <a href="#">delete</a></span> <div style="clear: both;"></div> </div> </li> <li> <ul class="bx_lnx" id="lnx_1"> <li> <div class="bx_lnx_header"> <span class="bx_linx_title"><span class="bx_lnx_refno">#3103</span>How to file personal files</span> <span class="bx_lnx_options"><a href="#">edit</a> &bull; <a href="#">move</a> &bull; <a href="#">delete</a></span> </div> </li> <li class="bx_lnx_url">http://www.google.com</li> <li class="bx_lnx_notes"><span>search google for this</span></li> <li class="bx_lnx_tags"><span>personal</span><span>file</span><span>google</span></li> </ul> </li> </ul> </div> Which produces this output in Chrome and Fireworks and the following in IE The yellow and red colors was used in order to show that is being going wrong. • Vertically center CSS techniques don't work in Chrome

    - by at.
I've gone through stackoverflow questions and a whole bunch of articles on vertically centering text like the following: http://blog.themeforest.net/tutorials/vertical-centering-with-css/ None of the techniques seem to work with the latest version of Chrome. Is that just the nature of Chrome? My text just always appears at the top. It seems that whenever I use 50% or 100% as values for CSS's height or top, nothing happens. I just need a single line of text vertically centered. line-height isn't helpful because I want it centered in the middle of the browser window... I don't know how tall the browser window is going to be. UPDATE: The problem is apparently Foundation 4. Once I delete the following everything works as expected: <link href="/assets/foundation_and_overrides.css?body=1" media="screen" rel="stylesheet" /> Any idea on how to make it work with Foundation 4?

  • Load DOM before css?

    - by Tim
My jQuery code sets the height of an element to 0px as soon as the page loads, then animates it to 500px. In my CSS, this element is already set to 500px (in case anyone has javascript turned off). I tried 'DEFER' on the tag where I link to the stylesheet so that the CSS loads in last of all, but that causes a blank white page to show up between navigating through pages - which I don't want, because I lose the smooth page transition effects that I am after. Is there a way that I can set the height in the CSS to 0px and IF javascript IS turned off, have it set to 500px, perhaps? :\ That's what I'm after, in effect. Any ideas? Many thanks for your help.

  • File upload control - Select file is lossed when 2nd control is initiatied

    - by Barry
Our problem/question revolves around an upload control that loses the selected file (goes blank) when a postback control is used (in this case, the dropdown list posts). Any insight into what we are doing wrong or how we can fix this? Below is our code and a summary of the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! <asp:updatepanel id="UpdatePanel1" runat="server"> <ContentTemplate> <div class="row"> <asp:DropDownList runat="server" AutoPostBack="true" ID="CategorySelection" OnSelectedIndexChanged="CategorySelection_IndexChanged" CssClass="drop-down-list" /> </div> <div id="SubCategory" class="row" runat="server" visible="false"> <asp:DropDownList runat="server" ID="SubCategorySelection" CssClass="drop-down-list" /> </div> <div class="row"> <asp:FileUpload runat="server" ID="FileUpload" CssClass="file-upload" /> </div> <div class="row"> <asp:Button ID="submit" runat="server" Text="Submit" CssClass="button" OnClick="submit_ButtonClick" /> </div> </ContentTemplate> <Triggers> <asp:PostBackTrigger ControlID="submit" /> </Triggers> </asp:updatepanel> In this form we have 2 DropDownList, 1 FileUpload and 1 submit button. Every time that the user selects one category, the subcategories are loaded (AutoPostBack=”true”). The primary user flow works fine: User selects one category, subcategory and selects a file to be uploaded (submitted). HOWEVER, if the user selects a file first, and then selects a category, the screen will do a partial refresh and the selected file will disappear (field goes blank). As a result, the user needs to select the file again. This causes an issue because the fact that the file is no longer selected can easily be overlooked. Seems straighforward --- but causing us a lot of grief. Any experts out there that can help? BIG thanks!

  • Resize and center image in html/css?

    - by Derek
Is there a way I can resize, crop, and center an image using html/css only? (img tag or css sprite) For example if I have a 500x500 pixel image, I want to resize that to a 250x250 pixel image I want to make the actual visible image to be 100x100, but still have the scale of a 250x250 sized image. I want the center of the image to be at a location x,y. Is that possible with only html/css, if not, how do you propose I go about it with javascript? Edit - ????: For (2), say my scaled image is now 200x200, and I want my visible image to be 100x100: So I guess what I mean is I want the scale and resolution of the image to be 200x200 but I want the visible image to be 100x100 or in other words the visible image would be at coordinates x,y: 0,0; 0,100; 100,0; 100,100; of the 200x200 image. Sorry, but I'm not good at explaining this.

  • Creating "screenshots" with HTML 5 and CSS 3?

    - by Tower
Hi, I need to create small thumbnails of HTML elements. I first thought using CSS 3 reflection, but it is limited to being only a reflection (and not a direct copy) and I can not move it from its standard position. Then I thought using JavaScript to copy the HTML element entirely along with all its contents and apply CSS 3 transform to scale it down to a thumbnail. That works pretty well, but is kind of a hack. Does anyone know a better way of doing this with JavaScript, HTML 5 and CSS 3. Flash, Java and such are not an option and it only needs to work in one browser.
