  • I accidentally made my new hard drive (the non system drive) my primary partition

    Hi all, When installing a new hard drive, I accidentally formatted it using 'Disk Management' and set it up as my primary active partition, even though it isn't the system drive. Then, when I restarted my machine, Windows wouldn't boot, citing a missing or corrupt SYSTEM folder. Can anyone help me re-enable the system hard drive as my primary active partition? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • How to redirect external web request to localhost's testing server

    Some web services calls my web application(www.myapplication.com/external_update_handler). I need to test those requests locally, so I'd like to know your opinions about how can I "redirect" those requests to my localhost dev machine(that is outside of my web aplication domain) so I can debug. Probably it's needed a service/server to get those external requests and a desktop application that sends it to localhost:5555/external_update_handler, but I have no idea where to start and simpler options.

    For some reason when I boot my laptop now (winxp), it doesn't start explorer.exe automatically; I'm left with a desktop background and a mouse pointer. I have to run taskman and start explorer.exe manually. Recently I had Spyware Dr. detect a severe threat, and I was wondering if there was anyway to re-hookup explorer.exe on startup.

The question is how do I bring up all the Apps in farm via TCP/IP. The Citrix online plugin does not allow the same access as Program Neighborhood did to farms. Please help.

    I have two Windows VPS's that talk to each other. 1) I already firewall Remote Desktop to a few IPs. I want to require me to connect instead to the server via VPN (IPSec?) in order to then be able to RD. 2) I want to also only permit access to port 80 on the server if I am VPN'd in to the server (authenticated) 3) If possible, I want to secure communication between other VPS's I have using the same method? I have space on my Lab account which i usually SSH into, and i was wondering if URL's can be directly transferred over to a remote machine and saved on the hard disk.     Apparently, on my notebook, I have suddenly lost any ability to use network connections, involving SSL and/or data encryption, provided my MS: 1) remote desktop connections: Because of an error in data encryption, this session will end 2) browse HTTPS sites: Can't browse HTTPS pages. TLS error 3) communicate over WiFi, while wired is ok Is there any possible one central reason for all of these problems in Windows? Third party applications, like Putty, works fine. Is it possible to reset/repair certificate store or something in Windows?

    Hi I've just build a 64bit Windows 7 PC but am unhappy with the piddly performance of the linksys USB wireless dingle I've used. Can anyone suggest a good PCIe alternative that will be stronger for connection and maybe faster. I dont see why my desktop should show a weaker performance on wireless than my laptop when its sat next to it or even my Palm Pre for that matter. any thoughts?     I have DG43NB mobo, that have onboard X4500 graphics. Its supports 1900 x 1200 Resolution. But my LCD monitor is only capable of resolution 1024 x 768. I have to test some websites in resolution 1900 x 1200, how can i test? Is there any concept of virtual desktop using which i can simulate resolution 1900 x 1200. I have windows xp installed. thanks

    I have an external WD MyBook. it has USB, Firewire and e-sata connectors, but I would like to mount it internally in my desktop system instead for extra performance, and I'm also considered about how long it will last externally.     Hi, I hope this is right place for this. I am currently running Joomla v1 with a file management component called Docman on a Bluehost server. Some users (particularly with slower download speeds) are experiencing partial file downloads with some of my larger files (~100MB). I would like to keep the Joomla + Docman installation.   • Alternative to Outlook 2007 to sync with BlackBerry?

    Hello I installed Outlook (2007) since it's the most used PIM that can sync with a BlackBerry, but I find its UI ugly, and the different dialogs contain way too much items for my use. Does someone know of a good alternative? Ideally, it should be able to sync with BlackBerry directly, but I can live with one that goes through Outlook for synchronization. FWIW, I prefer desktop applications to eg. Google apps. Thank you.

    The old advice to set the REG_DWORD value named RPEnabled (some sources claim it's RPEnable) under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer to 0 doesn't work anymore since the Consumer Preview (i.e. now also for the Release Preview). Yes, I tried both RPEnabled and RPEnable. How can I log into the system and be presented the desktop instead of the metro start screen? I got rid of the lock screen already, so this is the missing piece in the puzzle of making Windows 8 Release Preview usable.
