  • Trying to modify the text of a document onkeydown is inserting text incorrectly.

    - by Benny
    I have the following html: <html> <head> <script> function myKeyDown() { var myDiv = document.getElementById('myDiv'); myDiv.innerHTML = myDiv.innerHTML.replace(/(@[a-z0-9_]+)/gi, '<strong>$1</strong>'); } function init() { document.addEventListener('keydown', myKeyDown, false); document.designMode = "on"; } window.onload = init; </script> </head> <body> <div id="myDiv"> This is my variable name: @varname. If I type here things go wrong... </div> </body> </html> My goal is to do a kind of syntax highlighting on edit, to highlight variable names that begin with an @ symbol. However, when I edit the document's body, the function runs but the cursor is automatically shifted to the beginning of the body before the keystroke is performed. My hypothesis is that the keypress event is trying to insert the new character at a specified index, but when I run the replace function the indices get messed up so it defaults the character insertion point to the beginning. I'm using Firefox to test by the way. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, B.J.

  • XSLT pass node into CDATA JS

    - by davomarti
    I have the following xml <AAA> <BBB>Total</BBB> </AAA> Transforming it with the following xslt using the xsl:copy-of tag, because I want to use the xml to create a xml doc in js. <xsl:template match="/"> <![CDATA[ function myFunc() { xmlStr = ']]><xsl:copy-of select="/"/><![CDATA['; } ]]> </xsl:template> The output looks like this function myFunc() { xmlStr = '<AAA> <BBB>Total</BBB> </AAA>'; } JS doesn't like this because of the missing semicolons ending the lines. How can I fix my xsl to get the below result: function myFunc() { xmlStr = '<AAA><BBB>Total</BBB></AAA>'; } I've tried normalize-space() and translate() but they strip the tags from the xml. Thanks!

  • Display multiple new windows

    - by Ricardo Deano
    Afternoon all. I have the following scenario: I have a search page where by a client searches for a product from a drop down list, upon clicking a button, a gridview is produced display the spec. What I would like is the functionality for the user to make their selection and a new window pops up with the spec. So I have a simple code behind for the search page: protected void Button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { Session["Product"] = DropDownList1.SelectedValue; string strScript = "window.open('GridViewPage.aspx', 'Key', 'height=500,width=800,toolbar=no,menubar=no,scrollbars=yes,resizable=yes,titlebar=no');"; ScriptManager.RegisterStartupScript(this, typeof(string), "", strScript, true); } And a gridviewpage that presents the data based upon the session created in the search page: <asp:GridView ID="GridView2" runat="server" AutoGenerateColumns="False" DataSourceID="LinqDataSource1"> <Columns> <asp:BoundField DataField="Product" HeaderText="MemberID" SortExpression="MemberID" /> <asp:BoundField DataField="Spec" HeaderText="Spec" SortExpression="Spec" /> </Columns> </asp:GridView> <asp:LinqDataSource ID="LinqDataSource1" runat="server" ContextTypeName="GridViewInNewWindow.ProductDataContext" EntityTypeName="" TableName="tblProducts" Where="Product == @Product"> <WhereParameters> <asp:SessionParameter Name="Product" SessionField="Product" Type="String" /> </WhereParameters> </asp:LinqDataSource> Now upon first iteration, this does the job...gridview presented in new window...hurrah! i.e. a user searches for egg, the spec for an egg is presented in a new window. However, what I would like to happen is that the user can make multiple searches so a number of new windows are opened. i.e. a user searches for egg once, the spec is returned in a new window; they then wish to see the spec for a chicken, so they use the search page to find said chicken, click the button and another new window is shown displaying the chicken's specs. Does anyone know how I can achieve this? Apologies if this is simple stuff, I am just finding my feet.

  • Better way to call superclass method in ExtJS

    - by Rene Saarsoo
    All the ExtJS documentation and examples I have read suggest calling superclass methods like this: MyApp.MyPanel = Ext.extend(Ext.Panel, { initComponent: function() { // do something MyPanel specific here... MyApp.MyPanel.superclass.initComponent.call(this); } }); I have been using this pattern for quite some time and the main problem is, that when you rename your class then you also have to change all the calls to superclass methods. That's quite inconvenient, often I will forget and then I have to track down strange errors. But reading the source of Ext.extend() I discovered, that instead I could use the superclass() or super() methods that Ext.extend() adds to the prototype: MyApp.MyPanel = Ext.extend(Ext.Panel, { initComponent: function() { // do something MyPanel specific here... this.superclass().initComponent.call(this); } }); In this code renaming MyPanel to something else is simple - I just have to change the one line. But I have doubts... I haven't seen this documented anywhere and the old wisdom says, I shouldn't rely on undocumented behaviour. I didn't found a single use of these superclass() and supr() methods in ExtJS source code. Why create them when you aren't going to use them? Maybe these methods were used in some older version of ExtJS but are deprecated now? But it seems such a useful feature, why would you deprecate it? So, should I use these methods or not?

  • jQuery $.each(arr, foo) versus $(arr).each(foo)

    - by Brian M. Hunt
    In jQuery, what's the difference between the following two constructions of jQuery.each: // Given var arr = [1,2,3,4], results = [], foo = function (index, element) { /* something done to/with each element */ results.push(element * element); // arbitrary thing. } // construction #1 $.each(arr, foo); // results = [1,4,9,16] // construction #2 $(arr).each(foo); // results = [1,4,9,16] Is there any difference, or is it purely syntax?

  • Drawing half of a Bezier path in Raphael

    - by Fibericon
    Let's say I have a cubic Bezier path as follows (formatted for use with the Raphael path function): M55 246S55 247 55 248 Just an example. This was taken from my drawing application, where I use the cursor to draw a line when the user holds the mouse button down, kind of like a pencil or marker. I'm using jquery's mousemove event to draw the line between two points every time the user moves the mouse. There is another (the reference point) that is taken before the line is drawn, so that the Bezier curve can be created. Here's my question: is it possible to make Raphael only draw half of a given path? I'm aware of the getSubpath() function, but if my understanding of Bezier curves is correct, it would be rather difficult to calculate the second argument. The problem with the animate function is that it creates double lines (that is, it creates the curved line that I want, and the boxy line around it which should not be shown, possibly because the mouse is being moved faster than the animation can handle). Of course, if my approach itself is flawed in some way (or my understanding of the possible solutions), I'd like to hear it. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Raphael Scope Drag n drop multiple paper instances

    - by donald
    I have two Raphael paper instances. In both I want to drag and drop an element (circle). It is important for me to assign both these circles the same id. I expected no problem, as both are in different paper instances and therefore in different scope. What happens is, that somehow both elements react, when I have clicked both elements at least once. If I however give these elements different IDs everything works fine (each element only calls its "start", "drag" and "up" function if draged around). Is this intended behaviour of Raphael and do I have to assign different IDs to the elements in the different paper instances? Hopefully not and you can point me to the right direction :-) Thanks a lot for your Help in advance, Here comes the code: <!doctype html> <html> <head> <meta charset="utf-8" /> <title>DragNDrop</title> <script src="raphael-min.js"></script> </head> <body> <h1>Paper1</h1> <div id="divPaper1" style ="height: 150px; width: 300px; border:thin solid red"></div> <h1>Paper2</h1> <div id="divPaper2" style ="height: 150px; width: 300px; border:thin solid red"></div> <script> start1 = function () { console.log("start1"); } drag1 = function () { console.log("move1"); } up1 = function () { console.log("up1"); } start2 = function () { console.log("start2"); } drag2 = function () { console.log("move2"); } up2 = function () { console.log("up2"); } var paper1 = Raphael("divPaper1", "100%", "100%"); var circle1 = paper1.circle(40, 40, 30); circle1.attr("fill", "yellow"); circle1.id = "circle"; //both circles get the same id circle1.drag(drag1, start1, up1); paper2 = Raphael("divPaper2", "100%", "100%"); var circle2 = paper2.circle(40, 40, 30); circle2.attr("fill", "red"); circle2.id = "circle"; //both circles get the same id circle2.drag(drag2, start2, up2); </script> </body>

  • Assigning values to variable WHILE loop

    - by Milaan
    Hi! I have a WHILE loop that loops through a table as long as $i is less than 10. I want this loop to assign the INNERHTML of each cell to a variable. So that I can use it later on to process the information (the loop is because you can choose if it has to take first 3 or first 10 cells). But how do I assign every innerHTML to a different variable? I'm sure there has to be an easy way. But google couldn't get me a good answer. Thanks in advance! Milaan

  • Hotkeys in webapps

    - by Johoo
    When creating webapps, is there any guidelines on which keys you can use for your own hotkeys without overriding too many of the browsers default hotkeys. For example i might want to have a custom copy command for copying entire sets of data that only makes sense for my program instead of just text. The logical combination for this would be ctrl+c but that would destroy the default copy hotkey for normal text. One solution i was thinking about is to only catch the hotkey when it "makes sense" but when you use some advanced custom selection it might be hard to differentiate if your data is focused, if text is selected or both. Right now i am only using single keys as the hotkey, so just 'c' for the example above and this seems to be what most other sites are doing too. The problem is that if you have text input this doesn't work so good. Is this the best solution? To clarify I'm talking about advanced webapps that behave more like normal programs and not just some website presenting information(even though i think these guidlines would be valid for both cases). So for the copy example it might not be a big deal if you can't copy the text in the menu but when ctrl+tab, alt+d or ctrl+e doesn't work i would be really pissed, cough flash cough.

  • onchange force page submit

    - by cometta
    <form jwcid="@Form" listener="listener:updateStaff"> <select jwcid="staffselect@Select" multiple="ognl:false" validators="validators:required" onchange="this.form.submit()" listener="listener:updateStaff"> <span jwcid="@For" source="ognl:hrStaff" value="ognl:currentHrStaff" index="ognl:currentHrStaffIndex"> <option class="text11" jwcid="@Option" selected="ognl:hrStaffSelection[currentHrStaffIndex]" label="ognl:currentHrStaff"/> </span> </select> </form> when onchange on selectbox, this form will be submitted and my pageValidate() will be called follow by upadteStaff() listener method. I wonder, when such submission is fired, can onchange='' pass a flag ('selectboxisfired' string) that i able to capture inside pagevalidate() 'selectboxisfired'? this will allow my logic inside pagevalidate to indicate is triggered by selectbox.

  • HighCharts : Can I customize the colors of individual series?

    - by user1091114
    I am using HighCharts for a line graph and i am attemping to change the line color for each series. I did find this example here but the data is hard coded. My data is pulled from an Sql database and passed to the HTML page using some VB code. var chart; $(document).ready(function () { chart = new Highcharts.Chart({ chart: { renderTo: 'container', defaultSeriesType: 'column' }, title: { text: 'Chart Title' }, subtitle: { text: 'Chart subtitle' }, xAxis: { categories: [<%= GraphDate %>] , labels: { rotation: -45, align: 'right', style: { } } }, yAxis: { min: 160, title: { text: 'Temp' } }, legend: { layout: 'vertical', backgroundColor: '#FFFFFF', align: 'left', verticalAlign: 'top', x: 400, y: 0, floating: true, shadow: true }, tooltip: { formatter: function () { return '' + this.x + ': ' + this.y + ' ºC'; } }, plotOptions: { column: { pointPadding: 0.2, borderWidth: 0 } }, series: [<%= GraphSeries %>], }); I tried to style it using the other post however it failed to generate a chart. The main problem is though, the line graph has two series, so the below method would set the color for both series i assume? So, would i maybe need to format the series in my vb code somehow? series: [{ color: 'yellow', data: [ [<%= GraphSeries %>] ]},

  • ScrollTo - toggle between min-height/fixed height

    - by Skoder
    Hi everyone, I'm trying to use the ScrollTo plugin, but I can't seem to get it working properly. I tried to view the source at the site I linked to but I'm trying to achieve something slightly different. I would like the window pane to change size according to the content (so the height would increase for longer text and would decrease for shorter text). However, when I supply a min-height (as opposed to a fixed height), the pane automatically changes to the maximum height when the page is loaded. So if I have something set to margin-top:1000px;, the pane will be 1000px in size regardless of what tab is currently displaying. The fix would be to use height instead, but that would mean that the window won't expand in height and the user would have to scroll. I got my code from viewing the source on the ScrollTo page, but I also tried this tutorial code. Thanks for any help

  • jQuery Collapse (with cookies), default open instead of closed?

    - by Christian
    Hi. I've got a jQuery snippet which basically allows a user to toggle a div, open or closed - their preference is saved in a cookie. (function($) { $.fn.extend({ collapse: function(options) { var defaults = { inactive : "inactive", active : "active", head : ".trigger", group : ".wrap-me-up", speed : 300, cookie : "collapse" }; // Set a cookie counter so we dont get name collisions var op = $.extend(defaults, options); cookie_counter = 0; return this.each(function() { // Increment cookie name counter cookie_counter++; var obj = $(this), sections = obj.find(op.head).addClass(op.inactive), panel = obj.find(op.group).hide(), l = sections.length, cookie = op.cookie + "_" + cookie_counter; // Look for existing cookies for (c=0;c<=l;c++) { var cvalue = $.cookie(cookie + c); if ( cvalue == 'open' + c ) { panel.eq(c).show(); panel.eq(c).prev().removeClass(op.inactive).addClass(op.active); }; }; sections.click(function(e) { e.preventDefault(); var num = sections.index(this); var cookieName = cookie + num; var ul = $(this).next(op.group); // If item is open, slide up if($(this).hasClass(op.active)) { ul.slideUp(op.speed); $(this).removeClass(op.active).addClass(op.inactive); $.cookie(cookieName, null, { path: '/', expires: 10 }); return } // Else slide down ul.slideDown(op.speed); $(this).addClass(op.active).removeClass(op.inactive); var cookieValue = 'open' + num; $.cookie(cookieName, cookieValue, { path: '/', expires: 10 }); }); }); } }); })(jQuery); Demo: http://christianbullock.com/demo/ I'm just wondering how I can display the list open as default, and have the div collapse when the header is clicked? Many thanks. Christian.

  • How to get rid of Internet Explorer 7 reloading on fragment change

    - by Philippe Beaudoin
    I have an anchor <a href="#!admin">General</a> somewhere in my page. Clicking this in any browser but IE7 (haven't tried IE6) causes no page reload, as expected. However, under IE7 it reloads the page as soon as it's clicked. The strangest thing is that I have the exact same anchor elsewhere in the page and it causes no reload. The only difference I can see between these is a slight difference in style, and the fact that the faulty anchor is deeply nested in divs, where the other is closer to the top. My questions: Is this a known bug with IE7? If so, is there any work around? If not, any clue as to what might be going wrong? Edit: If you want to see this yourself, go to http://filouguestbook.appspot.com/#!main sign-in with a google account and click on the Settings link the the top bar. Switch between the General and Accounts pages, the app will reload. From the Accounts page, click on Settings in the top bar, this will switch tab but not reload!

  • LocalStorage storing multiple div hides

    - by Jesse Toxik
    I am using a simple code to hide multiple divs if the link to hide them is clicked. On one of them I have local storage set-up to remember of the div is hidden or not. The thing is this. How can I write a code to make local storage remember the hidden state of multiple divs WITHOUT having to put localstorage.setItem for each individual div. Is it possible to store an array with the div ids and their display set to true or false to decide if the page should show them or not? **********EDITED************ function ShowHide(id) { if(document.getElementById(id).style.display = '') { document.getElementById(id).style.display = 'none'; } else if (document.getElementById(id).style.display = 'none') { document.getElementById(id).style.display = ''; }

  • Link to open in a new window, with 2 frames

    - by Kartik Rao
    I will be displaying news feeds from external websites on my website. So i need to open external links in those feeds in a new window, but give the user an option to return to my website. Basically I'm trying to replicate Google Images' technique of opening a link in a window with 2 frames - with the top frame having an option to "Remove Frame" and the bottom frame displaying the content of the link. Also, since the news feed will be dynamic, I don't want to hard-code anything. The code should be used automatically by any link appearing in the news feeds. Any ideas on how to do it?

  • Need help with cycle in JS

    - by antiarchitect
    I have such function, that adds a grid of droppables: function AddClassroomDrops(grid, weeks, days, times) { for(week = 1; week <= weeks; week++) { for (day = 1; day <= days; day++) { for (time = 1; time <= times; time++ ) { Droppables.add('container_grid'+ grid + '_week' + week + '_day' + day + '_time' + time, { accept: 'pair', hoverclass : 'hovered_receiver', onDrop: function(pair, receiver) { new Ajax.Request( '/pairs/'+pair.id+'/update_on_drop', { method : 'put', parameters : { classroom : grid, week : week, day : day, time : time, container : receiver.id } } ); } }); } } } } The problem is that params of Ajax.Request (week, day, time) are always equal to weeks + 1, times + 1, days + 1. But they must vary according to the cycle.

  • Get and Set a Single Cookie with Node.js HTTP Server

    - by Corey Hart
    I want to be able to set a single cookie, and read that single cookie with each request made to the nodejs server instance. Can it be done in a few lines of code, without the need to pull in a third party lib? var http = require('http'); http.createServer(function (request, response) { response.writeHead(200, {'Content-Type': 'text/plain'}); response.end('Hello World\n'); }).listen(8124); console.log('Server running at http://127.0.0.1:8124/'); Just trying to take the above code directly from nodejs.org, and work a cookie into it.
