• Hibernate N+1 from select across multiple tables

  Given the following hibernate query: String sql = "select distinct changeset " + "from Changeset changeset " + "join fetch changeset.changeEntries as changeEntry " + "join fetch changeEntry.repositoryEntity as repositoryEntity " + "join fetch repositoryEntity.project as project " + "join fetch changeset.author as changesetAuthor " + "where project.id = :projectID "; Why is this resulting in an N+1 problem? I expect this to generate the following single SQL statement (or something similar) select * from Changeset inner join changeEntry on changeset.id = changeEntry.changeset_id inner join repositoryEntity on changeEntry.repositoryentity_id = repositoryentity.id inner join project on repositoryentity.project_id = project.id where project.id = ? Instead, I see many many select statements firing. The data model here looks like this: I would like the full object graph returned from the Select statement in a single trip to the database, which is why I'm explicitly using "fetch" in the hibernate query. I suspect this is as a result of the parent/child relationship in the RepositoryEntity object. For the purposes of this select, I actually only require the parent object fetched. Any suggestions?

• Performing Aggregate Functions on Multi-Million Row Tables

  I'm having some serious performance issues with a multi-million row table that I feel I should be able to get results from fairly quick. Here's a run down of what I have, how I'm querying it, and how long it's taking: I'm running SQL Server 2008 Standard, so Partitioning isn't currently an option I'm attempting to aggregate all views for all inventory for a specific account over the last 30 days. What am I missing in this stuff??? Any ideas why the user logs in to the admin panel, tries to do something, is forced to re-login, and THEN is allowed to do stuff like normal in the admin panel?

• MySQL: Creating table with FK error (errno 150)

  I've tried searching on this error and nothing I've found helps me, so I apologize in advance if this is a duplicate and I'm just too dumb to find it. I've created a model with MySQL Workbench and am now attempting to install it to a mysql server. Using File Export Forward Engineer SQL CREATE Script... it outputs a nice big file for me, with all the settings I ask for. I switch over to MySQL GUI Tools (the Query Browser specifically) and load up this script (note that I'm going form one official MySQL tool to another). However, when I try to actually execute this file, I get the same error over and over SQLSTATE[HY000]: General error: 1005 Can't create table './srs_dev/location.frm' (errno: 150) "OK", I say to myself, something is wrong with the location table. So I check out the definition in the output file. I surmise that maybe something is wrong with the Query Browser, so I put this file on the server and try to load it this way ] mysql -u admin -p -D dbname < path/to/create_file.sql And I get the same error. So I start to Google this issue and find all kinds of accounts that talk about an error with InnoDB style tables that fail with foreign keys, and the fix is to add "SET FOREIGN_KEY_CHECKS=0;" to the SQL script. Well, as you can see, that's already part of the file that MySQL Workbench spat out. So, my question is then, why is this not working when I'm doing what I think I'm supposed to be doing? • PHP Image resize - Why is the image uploaded but not resized?

  BACKGROUND I have a script to upload an image. One to keep the original image and one to resize the image. 1. If the image dimensions (width & height) are within max dimensions I use a simple "copy" direct to folder UserPics. 2. If the original dimensions are bigger than max dimensions I want to resize the width and height to be within max. Both of them are uploading the image to the folder, but in case 2, the image will not be resized. QUESTION Is there something wrong with the script? Is there something wrong with the settings? • Gridview delete/edit not working when using select parameter

  new to ASP.NET. I created a sqldatasource and set up basic select query (SELECT * FROM Accounts) using the wizard. I then had the sqldatasource wizard create the INSERT, EDIT and DELETE queries. Connected this datasource to a gridview with EDITING and DELETING enabled. Everything works fine. The SELECT query returns all records and I can edit/delete them. Now I need to send a parameter to the SELECT command to filter the records to those with the user's id (pulled from Membership.GetUser). When I add this parameter, the SELECT command works fine, but the EDIT/DELETE buttons in the gridview no longer work. No error is generated. The page refreshes but the records were not updated in the database. I don't understand what is wrong. • User Getting Logged Out After Making First Comment

  Hello, I am using a login system that works well. I am also using a comment system. The comment function does not show up unless the user is logged in (as shown in commentformonoff.php below). When a user makes a comment, the info is passed from the function "show_commentbox" to the file comments2a.php. Then, the info is passed to the file comments2.php. When the site is first pulled up on a browser, after logging in and making a comment, the user is logged out. After logging in a second time during the same browser session, the user is no longer logged out after making a comment. How can I keep the user logged in after making the first comment?   In order to create a more elegant solution I'm curios to know your suggestion about a solution to persist a collection. I've a collection stored on DB. This collection go to a webpage in a viewmodel. When the go back from the webpage to the controller I need to persist the modified collection to the same DB. The simple solution is to delete the stored collection and recreate all rows.   when doing simple query on 4 inner joined tables, the server crashes with the output below appearing in the the mysql .err file. eg. select * from table1 inner join table2 on table1.a = table2.a and table1.b = table2.b inner join table3 on table2.a = table3.a and table2.c = table3.c inner join table4 on table3.a = table4.a and table3.d = table4.d If i remove one of the tables it executes fine. Likewise if I remove a different table, it executes fine. If I run the same query that I have to produce these results in sql analyser, I see 1 result. Can someone see why my query on my form produces a different result than the sql analyser does? • can a python script know that another instance of the same script is running... and then talk to it?

  I'd like to prevent multiple instances of the same long-running python command-line script from running at the same time, and I'd like the new instance to be able to send data to the original insance before the new instance commits suicide. How can I do this in a cross-platform way? Specifically, I'd like to enable the following behavior: "foo.py" is launched from the command line, and it will stay running for a long time-- days or weeks until the machine is rebooted or the parent process kills it. every few minutes the same script is launched again, but with different command-line parameters when launched, the script should see if any other instances are running. if other instances are running, then instance #2 should send its command-line parameters to instance #1, and then instance #2 should exit. instance #1, if it receives command-line parameters from another script, should spin up a new thread and (using the command-line parameters sent in the step above) start performing the work that instance #2 was going to perform. So I'm looking for two things: how can a python program know another instance of itself is running, and then how can one python command-line program communicate with another? Making this more complicated, the same script needs to run on both Windows and Linux, so ideally the solution would use only the Python standard library and not any OS-specific calls. Although if I need to have a Windows codepath and an *nix codepath (and a big if statement in my code to choose one or the other), that's OK if a "same code" solution isn't possible. I realize I could probably work out a file-based approach (e.g. instance #1 watches a directory for changes and each instance drops a file into that directory when it wants to do work) but I'm a little concerned about cleaning up those files after a non-graceful machine shutdown. I'd ideally be able to use an in-memory solution. But again I'm flexible, if a persistent-file-based approach is the only way to do it, I'm open to that option. More details: I'm trying to do this because our servers are using a monitoring tool which supports running python scripts to collect monitoring data (e.g. results of a database query or web service call) which the monitoring tool then indexes for later use. Some of these scripts are very expensive to start up but cheap to run after startup (e.g. making a DB connection vs. running a query). So we've chosen to keep them running in an infinite loop until the parent process kills them. This works great, but on larger servers 100 instances of the same script may be running, even if they're only gathering data every 20 minutes each. This wreaks havoc with RAM, DB connection limits, etc. We want to switch from 100 processes with 1 thread to one process with 100 threads, each executing the work that, previously, one script was doing. But changing how the scripts are invoked by the monitoring tool is not possible. We need to keep invocation the same (launch a process with different command-line parameters) but but change the scripts to recognize that another one is active, and have the "new" script send its work instructions (from the command line params) over to the "old" script.

• Mbean registered but not found in mbean Server

  I have a problem about the mbeans. I have created a simple mbean and I have registered it on the default mBeanServer that is run (Via eclipse or java -jar mbean.jar) and in the same process if I try to fouund the mbean registered with a simple query: for (ObjectInstance instance : mbs.queryMBeans(ObjectNameMbean, null)) { System.out.println(instance.toString()); } the query retuerns my mbean, but if I start another process and try to search this mbean registered the mbeas is not found! why? Im initiating it in the above MyApp and passing references all the way in to my runnable: class Connection implements Runnable { My question is what will happen if there are two simultaneous read or `write? My thought here was the all methods in the singleton are synchronized and would put all calls in the queue waiting to get a lock on the synchronized method.   Hello, I have adapted an script from an example of http://github.com/remy/twitterlib. It´s a script that makes one query each 10 seconds to my Twitter timeline, to get only the messages that begin with a musical notation. It´s already working, but I don´t know it is the better way to do this... The Twitter API has a rate limit of 150 IP access per hour (queries from the same user). At this time, my Twitter API is blocked at 25 minutes because the 10 seconds frecuency between posts. If I set up a frecuency of 25 seconds between post, I am below the rate limit per hour, but the first 10 posts are shown so slowly. I think this way I can guarantee to be below the Twitter API rate limit and show the first 10 posts at normal speed: For the first 10 posts, I would like to set a frecuency of 5 seconds between queries. For the rest of the posts, I would like to set a frecuency of 25 seconds between queries. I think if making somewhere in the code a loop with the previous sentences, setting the "frecuency" value from 5000 to 25000 after the 10th query (or after 50 seconds, it´s the same), that´s it... Can you help me on modify this code below to make it work?
