• django file serving issues

  I have in my url patterns, urlpatterns += patterns('', (r'^(?P<path>.*)$', 'django.views.static.serve', {'document_root': '/home/tipu/Dropbox/dev/workspace/search/images'}) In my template when I do <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="{{ MEDIA_URL }}style.css" /> It serves the css just fine. But the file logo.png, that's in the same directory as style.css, doesn't show when I do this: <img src = "{{ MEDIA_URL }}logo.png" id = "logo" /> Any idea why?

  I have a function that is being called when the user is typing in a search box. I want to wait for the user to finish typing before I actually execute the function. I know how to easily accomplish this in JavaScript with timeouts, but how would I go about doing the same thing in C#? Also, how long should I wait before I assume the user is done typing? 100ms?

  I need an algorithm written in any language to find an image inside of an image, including at different scales. Does anyone know a starting point to solving a problem like this? For example: I have an image of 800x600 and in that image is a yellow ball measuring 180 pixels in circumference. • Allowed characters in linux environment variable names

  What characters are allowed in linux environment variable names? My cursory search of man pages and the web did only produce information about how to work with variables, but not which names are allowed. I have a Java program that requires an defined environment variable containing a dot, like com.example.fancyproperty. With Windows I can set that variable, but I had no luck setting it in linux (tried in SuSE and Ubuntu). Is that variable name even allowed?

• Pull news from an RDF Feed using Ruby and Nokogiri?

  I would like to pull the titleand description fields from the newsfeed at http://www.tagesschau.de/newsticker.rdf to feed them to the Mac's Text-to-Speech engine. My search for a nice Ruby Gem to do this has brought me to Nokogiri, but all examples that "pull something out" of a given XML seem to be centered around CSS somehow. Does anyone have any idea how to save the titleand description fields in an array?

If I create a separate index for each column (one for A, one for B, one for C, not (A,B,C)), will all of them be used in the above query?

  When a user moves the Google map, I would like to display items in the viewing range of the user automatically. How can I efficiently and quickly display the items? I have basic understanding of calling getBounds() method every time the user moves the map, but I am not sure how I can efficiently search and get from my database the items within the lat/lng of the bounds of the current viewport. Would you do that and then have apps like "authentication", "questions", and "search"? Or would you really just have a site called mysite with one app called StackOverflow?

  I was wondering, is there some type of disc ID i can use to search in my database to see if that disc is has been scanned or not? All disc were created by me typically burnt on windows. -edit- I could compare write time and volume label to see if the disc has been scanned but i notice if i put in certain commercial disc that fields are blank or wrong causing many false positives (i once had the time set to the future, i dont know if people want to archive the contents of files on a commercial disc in my app).

• Are duplicate directives in php.ini going to cause an issue?

  I sent a request to ops today to update some php.ini directives, and found out that he merely appended them to the end of the file. My google search didn't really come up with any info on whether this is a problem or not to have duplicates in there and how they would be parsed. Obviously, it can cause confusion, but, I would have a stronger argument if I knew if this was acceptable or not. Any input? Thanks in advance...
