• Dispose Form opened in MainForm tab

  Hi, I have a MainForm which has tab Control and several independent form. I open each Individual From in the tab of the main form. A "Close Tab" button on the MainFrom closes the current tab, its implementation is below. This closes the current tab but what I also need is to dispose the From whose tab is closed but I am not sure how to get the instance of the form.' Any help is appreciated Thanks in Advance. • Is this an example of LINQ-to-SQL?

  I made a little WPF application with a SQL CE database. I built the following code with LINQ to get data out of the database, which was surprisingly easy. So I thought "this must be LINQ-to-SQL". Then I did "add item" and added a "LINQ-to-SQL classes" .dbml file, dragged my table onto the Object Relational Designer but it said, "The selected object uses an unsupported data provider." So then I questioned whether or not the following code actually is LINQ-to-SQL, since it indeed allows me to access data from my SQL CE database file, yet officially "LINQ-to-SQL" seems to be unsupported for SQL CE. • IntegrityError: foreign key violation upon delete

  I have Order and Shipment model. Shipment has a foreign key to Order. class Order(...): ... class Shipment() order = m.ForeignKey('Order') ... Now in one of my views I want do delete order object along with all related objects. So I invoke order.delete(). I have Django 1.0.4, PostgreSQL 8.4 and I use transaction middleware, so whole request is enclosed in single transaction. The problem is that upon order.delete() I get: ... File "/usr/local/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/django/db/backends/__init__.py", line 28, in _commit return self.connection.commit() IntegrityError: update or delete on table "main_order" violates foreign key constraint "main_shipment_order_id_fkey" on table "main_shipment" DETAIL: Key (id)=(45) is still referenced from table "main_shipment". I checked in connection.queries that proper queries are executed in proper order. First shipment is deleted, after that django executes delete on order row: {'time': '0.000', 'sql': 'DELETE FROM "main_shipment" WHERE "id" IN (17)'}, {'time': '0.000', 'sql': 'DELETE FROM "main_order" WHERE "id" IN (45)'} Foreign key have ON DELETE NO ACTION (default) and is initially deferred. I don't know why I get foreign key constraint violation. I also tried to register pre_delete signal and manually delete shipment objects before delete on order is called, but it resulted in the same error. I can change ON DELETE behaviour for this key in Postgres but it would be just a hack, I wonder if anyone has a better idea what's going on here. There is also a small detail, my Order model inherits from Cart model, so it actually doesn't have id field but cart_ptr_id and after DELETE on order is executed there is also DELETE on cart, but it seems unrelated? to the shipment-order problem so I simplified it in the example.

  I got an odd request, and I fear it will be closed as off-topic. So be it, but it's worth a shot. I'm creating a presentation about dependency injection and inversion of control, and I thought I'd make the point of interchangeable parts that serve a common purpose, but has different implementations, by showing an image I've seen before. Basically the image is of a man or a woman, but the image is split up into four parts: Head Torso uhm... not sure the name of this part, stomach, etc. Legs Possibly a fifth with feet and for each part you can choose among a few variants, creating odd people in the process. ie. a man torso with a woman head. But, I can't find such an image now of course. Does anyone know of such an image and can provide me with an url?

• SQL Server Compact timed out waiting for a lock

  Hi all, I'm having an application in that i use Sql Compact 3.5 with VS2008. I'm running multiple threads in my application which contacts the compact database and accesses the row. It selects and deletes those rows in a fashion i.e selecting and giving to the application 5 rows and deleting those rows from the table. It works great with a single thread but if i use multiple threads i.e if 3 or more threads are running I get very often the TimeOut Error!!! I have increased the Time out property in the connection string but it didn't give me expected result. The error log is as follow: SQL Server Compact timed out waiting for a lock. The default lock time is 2000ms for devices and 5000ms for desktops. The default lock timeout can be increased in the connection string using the ssce: default lock timeout property. [ Session id = 5,Thread id = 4204,Process id = 4808,Table name = XXX,Conflict type = x lock (s blocks),Resource = TAB ] The Query that I use to retrieve is as follows: " select Top(5) * from TableName order by id; delete from TableName where id in(select top(5) id from TableName order by id); " Is there any way by which we can avoid this Time Out exception??????? The above query I un as a transaction in VS2008 one using SQLCECommand and the other using SqlCEDataAdapter. Any Idea!!!!!! Reply

We have protocols like Modbus and Hart to handle the request and response between the application and devices. The question is related to managing the reference count of the channel. • Website often sticks, but clicking the link again everything loads fine

  Hi I have a website, which normally is very fast, however in the last week or two we're run into a problem whereby randomly if you click a link the browser will just sit there with the throbber spinning but the page doesn't appear to load If you click the link again it then responds straight away This doesn't seem to be limited to Chrome, Firefox or IE as we've tried all with all having same problems The site is build in ASP and connects to a MySQL database and runs on a dedicated windows 2003 server The firewalls were changed in the data centre recently to pixies but I've not been able to reproduce the problem outside of the office Within the office, we have 11 people (only 7 today and still experiencing problems) connected to a 7MB ADSL connection with Eclipse I have made some changes to the network in the office, namely wiring 4 desks back to the main 24 port switch rather than to small 5 port which then linked on to the 24 port switch... however we were having problems before this was done, and I did this to try and rule out an issue with the switch We have a backup ADSL connection, so I may try switching to that, or switching to a different router, but do you think this is a likely issue?   I'm getting a formatting problem if I use more than 10 UNION ALL statements in my VBA Code. If I use 10 or less everything works great. What I'm trying to do is combine 12 worksheets (Excel 2007). I have a numerical column called SC that turns into string and date if I have more than 10 UNION ALL. If I try to use ROUND with more than 10 UNION ALL my last selection will change all the records by one unit. I'm using Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0 as my provider and my connection string has worked for several things in my code so far. Is there any limit for UNION ALL statements when using OLEDB?   We need to redo a database in MySQL that has been already done on Informix, is there a way to migrate not only the schema, but the stored procedures as well? Thanks. We have a client whom we built a web application that uses an Informix database. Now the client wants to be able to implement the same software but on multiple closed networks (like 20). Doing this using Informix would be very expensive (20 licences X_X). So the best approach is to redo the database on something like MySQL. Because I want only one instance for each window, if window is existed, I will show it on top, & otherwise I will create and show it. Note: a mdi window is opened from Menus of Main Window or open from another mdi window. An example is very good. Update: Menu's status is depended on mdi window's status. Ex: If Window 'A' is openned - menu 'A' - disabled. When window 'A' is closed - I update menu 'A' status to Enabled. Thanks.

• .NET Remoting switching channels by itself.

  Hi. We are having an odd problem with .NET Remoting. Basically, we have a server which registers two TcpChannels with ChannelServices.RegisterChannel(): one listens on port 50000, the other one listens on port 15000. We then have a client that registers a TcpChannel to be able to communicate with the server. We retrieve a an object from the server by calling Activator.GetObject() with the URI "tcp://serverip:50000/objectname" and this works fine, the client connects to the server on port 50000 and gets the object. However, when we start calling methods on that object, the connection to the channel on port 50000 is dropped, and a new connection is made to the channel on port 15000 automatically. This poses a real problem for us since we don't want traffic on port 15000 because that channel may not be bound to the same network adapter as the port 50000 channel on the server or that port may not be open in the firewall, which causes the remoting calls to fail naturally. This is very strange to us since the client has no knowledge in our code that there exists another channel on the server on port 15000 or what IP it listens on, yet it attempt to connect to it. • Java - JTable multiple instances

  I have a JTable that gets data added to it from another JTable. Now I want to switch between JTables according to the day selected in a JComboBox. For example, if I choose Monday I add programs added to it then I select Tuesday from the JComboBox and a fresh JTable appears. If I go to Monday again the programs should still be there (until the program is closed). • What happens to an ActiveX control (COleControl) after the call to OnDestroy() ?

  I have an ActiveX control written in C++ that runs in Internet Explorer 8. Most of the time (approx 90%) when the tab or browser containing the control is closed, there is an access violation like this: The thread 'Win32 Thread' (0x1bf0) has exited with code 0 (0x0). Unhandled exception at 0x77b3b9fd in iexplore.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x65007408. The access violation occurs after the call to OnDestroy() but before the call to the control's destructor. The debug output says: No symbols are loaded for any call stack frame. The source code cannot be displayed. None of my code is present in the stacktrace, although perhaps the heap was corrupted at some earlier point during execution. What lifecycle events does an ActiveX control receive between the call to OnDestroy() and the control's destructor?

• SQL Server Blocking Issue

  We currently have an issue that occurs roughly once a day on SQL 2005 database server, although the time it happens is not consistent. Basically, the database grinds to a halt, and starts refusing connections with the following error message. This includes logging into SSMS: A connection was successfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the login process. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - The specified network name is no longer available.) Our CPU usage for SQL is usually around 15%, but when the DB is in it's broken state it's around 70%, so it's clearly doing something, even if no-one can connect. Even if I disable the web app that uses the database the CPU still doesn't go down. I am unable to restart the SQLSERVER process as it is unresponsive, so I have to end up killing the process manually, which then puts the DB into Suspect/Recovery mode (which I can fix but it's a pain). Below are some PerfMon stats I gathered when the DB was in it's broken state which might help. I have a bunch more if people want to request them: Active Transactions: 2 (Never Changes) Logical Connections: 34 (NC) Process Blocked: 16 (NC) User Connections: 30 (NC) Batch Request: 0 (NC) Active Jobs: 2 (NC) Log Truncations: 596 (NC) Log Shrinks: 24 (NC) Longest Running Transaction Time: 99 (NC) I guess they key is finding out what the DB is using it's CPU on, but as I can't even log into SSMS this isn't possible with the standard methods. Disturbingly, I can't even use the dedicated admin connection to get into SSMS. I get the same timout as with all other requests. Any advice, reccomendations, or even sympathy, is much appreciated!

• Processing file uploads before object is saved

  I've got a model like this: class Talk(BaseModel): title = models.CharField(max_length=200) mp3 = models.FileField(upload_to = u'talks/', max_length=200) seconds = models.IntegerField(blank = True, null = True) I want to validate before saving that the uploaded file is an MP3, like this: def is_mp3(path_to_file): from mutagen.mp3 import MP3 audio = MP3(path_to_file) return not audio.info.sketchy Once I'm sure I've got an MP3, I want to save the length of the talk in the seconds attribute, like this: audio = MP3(path_to_file) self.seconds = audio.info.length The problem is, before saving, the uploaded file doesn't have a path (see this ticket, closed as wontfix), so I can't process the MP3. I'd like to raise a nice validation error so that ModelForms can display a helpful error ("You idiot, you didn't upload an MP3" or something). Any idea how I can go about accessing the file before it's saved? p.s. If anyone knows a better way of validating files are MP3s I'm all ears - I also want to be able to mess around with ID3 data (set the artist, album, title and probably album art, so I need it to be processable by mutagen).

  Hello I am using mfc to Qt migration and I am showing Qt dialogs in my Mfc app. Is it Ok to deleteLater QWinWidget in its winEvent handler? The thing is that I want all of my open Qt dialogs in My Mfc application to be automatically deleted when the main mfc window is closed. Since WM_DESTROY will be sent for all child windows ( and the Qt widgets too) So I added the following code in QwinWidget winEvent handler : QWinWidget::winEvent(MSG * message, long * result) { ........ if(message->message == WM_DESTROY ) deleteLater(); return false; } Can someone comment this Thanks

• Dynamic notifications using jQuery

  I'm currently building a homepage for our staff which is to be set as the homepage in their browser. I'm currently building the facility whereby nominated members of staff can send notifications to all staff. These will popup on their home page without the need for them to refresh the page. I've currently got the code below which worked fine for 1 notification, but there may be more than 1 at a time waiting to be shown. I've switched to outputting json but I'm not sure how to modify my code to consume it. I'm using the PeriodicalUpdater and jGrowl plugins to get this functionality, if there's better alternatives then feel free to sugget them. $.PeriodicalUpdater({ url: 'getNotifications.aspx', maxTimeout: 6000, type: 'json' }, function(data) { var message = data; if (message != '') { $.jGrowl(message, { sticky: true }); } }); As an additional piece of functionality, would it be possible to store in a cookie when a user has closed a notification so they don't see it again?
