Most efficient way to connect an ISAPI Dll to a windows service

I am writing a custom server for a client. They want scalability so I must use a thread pool and probably I/O completion port to regulate it. The main requirement is that a windows service manage the HTTP requests for a number of reasons. An example of one would be that a client session spans many requests and continuity must be maintained. Another would be that the ISAPI Dll will be in the IIS address space and so it's code will be lean and very carefully implemented. The extensive processing in the Windows service may get unruly for the duration of the lengthy development. If the service crashes it will not take out IIS. Anyway, the remaining decision is how to have these two processes communicate. We have talked about pipes, tcp, global memory and even a single pipe with multiplexed data ala FastCGI. Would love to hear anyones experience with a decision like this.

Cannot create Java VM on OpenVZ

I'm constantly encountering an error related to Java and certificates on my Ubuntu server running in OpenVZ when installing things from apt-get. I'm pretty sure it has to do with how Java allocates memory. I know the fail counter for privvmpages is very high, so the problem must be that Java is hitting this limit. I have read that the server VM will allocate a lot of memory up front to preempt performance issues, but that the client VM doesn't do this and might be better for what I'm doing. I messed with jvm.cfg to make the system go to the client VM, but get an error that it can't find the client VM. I have tried replacing the Java binary with a script calling Java with -Xms and -Xmx settings, and that solves the issue for when I call basic things from the command line, but not for when doing things like having apt-get configure certificates. I'm at a loss for what to try next. I need to get this working, but simply increasing privvmpages is not an available option. I have the actual error pasted below. procmail issue - splitting delivery of one address based on destination domain

I use procmail to handle some serverside mail processing. I am trying to setup one email address on a server that support multiple domains (in the example below, domain.net and domain.com). I want mail sent to [email protected] to go to bob and mail sent to [email protected] to go to sara. VERBOSE=off LOGFILE=/dev/null :0 * .domain.net bob :0 * .domain.com sara The above recipe seems to work quite well in that it catches incoming mail to domain.net and forwards it to bob. However, instead of forwarding mail to domain.com to sara, it creates a file in /home/user called sara. What am I doing wrong on this?

BitmapFactory.decodeStream returning null when options are set.

Hi! I'm having issues with BitmapFactory.decodeStream(). When using it without options, it will return an image. But when I use it with options as in .decodeStream(inputStream, null, options) it never returns Bitmaps. What I'm trying to do is to downsample a Bitmap before I actually load it to save memory. I've read some good guides, but none using .decodeStream. I have a problem with my freeradius server configuration. I want to be able to authenticate users against Windows ActiveDirectory (2008 R2) and the users file, because some of my co-workers are not listed in AD. We use the freeradius server to authenticate WLAN users. Traversing/Manipulating new window from parent window with jquery

I found a question already with a possible solution, but I had already tried the method suggested before reading it, and it even says it's inconsistent. So I guess I'm wondering why this doesn't work: $("img").click(function() { var imgwindow = window.open('imgwin.html','','width=460,height=345'); alert(imgwindow.find("img").attr("src")); }); The goal is to set the new window's img to the same src as the image that the user clicked to open the new window. But in the above scenario, I'm just trying to tap into the new window to get what it's already-set src. I have imgwin.html already written with a default src for the image, so it should alert that url. Instead I just get undefined. I also tried the following (which should be identical on the back end), but with the same results: $("img").click(function() { var imgwindow = window.open('imgwin.html','','width=460,height=345'); alert($("img",imgwindow).attr("src")); }); I even tried variations of wrapping the imgwindow variable in $() in case somehow jquery wasn't picking up on the variable as a DOM element. The only thing I can guess is that since window.open() is a method, jquery doesn't treat it like a DOM element, even though all documentation from basic javascript tutorials treat the variable as both a method to open the window and the pointer to the window's inner DOM.

Custom UITableViewCell won't redraw on setNeedsDisplay

I created a custom UITableViewCell class with a UIButton, a UIImage, and two UILabels. The button and the image are overlayed on top of each other, and only one is displayed at a time. The expected behavior is you touch on the button, the button disappears, and it displays the image. The UITableViewCells are set to be reused. Custom jQuery Gallery Thumbnail Behavior

I recently got some help on here from SLaks (thank you) on the behavior of my custom gallery. I'm now trying to fix the way the thumbnails function. I've been toying with it for about an hour but I can't get it to work. Live version of the code: http://www.studioimbrue.com . Blackberry horizontal scroll in bottom menu bar

Hi, I have a MainScreen that has an overlay menu at the bottom of the screen, over a map. To do that, I have an MenuHoster (extends HorizontalFieldManager) that takes all width of the screen, 45px height and at the bottom of the screen. It overlays a map. In my MenuHoster, and add another HorizontalFieldManager that has a background image (my menu bar image) and focusable buttons. I have too many buttons to be all in my screen, so I want to an horizontal screen. When I create my second HorizontalFieldManager that hosts the buttons, I define the Manager.HORIZONTAL_SCROLL as style. My buttons are focusable, but nothing happens... The focus change to the next buttons but my HorizontalFieldManager does not scroll... I tried putting the same parameter in my MenuHoster HorizontalFieldManager, the scroll is working but all my screen goes right or left, and I want only the content of my menu bar... So there is my map and my menu going left, my buttons at the bottom and the rest of the screen white. Any idea why my second HorizontalFieldManager hosting the buttons does not scoll? Thank you!

Automating an SSRS 2008 R2 Report Snapshots and run report with most recent data

I would like to automate a report snapshot, but there is only an option to take a snapshot in the Report History Tab. All the resources I've found suggest I need to go to processing options and select "Render this report from a snapshot". But I don't want to do that - when I go to a report, I want to get the most recent data. However daily at midnight I'd like to take a snapshot and store it in the history in case I want to compare the reports as of midnight for the last few weeks. Or am I doing this wrong and have to create a subscription instead? Note: this is for an auditing database and has way to much data in to query a range with more than 1 day in it - reports are restricted as such. (1 day has over 1 million rows on it's own).

Linux Email Server Auto-Reply

I need to setup a mail server that has the following functionality: if a user sends an email to a specific address on this server, the server must first check if the email has a PDF attachment, do some processing to that PDF file and then reply to the user's initial mail with the new PDF file attached. My question is how would it be possible to achieve this functionality, and what software / mail server do you recommend? I'm thinking that it can be solved the following way: when the server receives a new email it executes an external Python script that checks the attachment, processes the PDF file and then sends it back in the user's mailbox. What mail server would be able to do this, and what configurations does it need?

How to prove writing specifications beats code cowboys?

So I have a problem. Or rather my friend has a problem, since I would never write about my company on an internet forum. At my friend's company specification writing is, shall we say, a little underused. There's a deeply ingrained culture of writing code first and asking questions later, whether it's for a library routine or a new tool to inflict on their long suffering designers. This of course leads to situations where functionality is partially correct, incorrect, or just completely missing ("oh, just save before trying anything you may want to undo"). This usually results in a loss of productivity for those poor designers, or beta periods where bug-fixing is largely spent implementing things correctly. My friend's found his suggestions of writing (and testing against) specifications to be generally well received. Most of his colleagues have embraced the wonderful feeling of discovering false-assumptions on paper, instead of at 11pm on a Sunday in the middle of beta. Viva La Revolution! However there are a few who poo-poo anything that stands between their task and a keyboard. They laugh at the thought of actually designing anything, and write code with merry abandon. Mostly these are senior, long employed developers, reluctant to "waste time". The problem is that this second group of heretics invariably produce things (or at least something) quicker than the first. Subsequently this becomes justification along the lines of "It's pointless to write specifications for something as simple as an image resizer! Oh and those bugs where width!=height or the image uses RLE just need a few tweaks". And now the question :) Other than saying "told you so" at the end of a project, what are some good short-term ways to demonstrate how the practice of writing functional or technical specifications leads to better software in the long run? FTP ASCII file from Windows to Mainframe (iSeries) — special characters

I have a text file created on a Windows machine, the page coding used on the file is 1252 This file is then ftp'd to an iSeries machine for processing As far as I can see, it appears on the iSeries. It has a CCSID of 037. Sometimes this file contains French characters (e.g. é). When this happens, the FTP will fail with a truncation error as the french character gets converted to some extra junk: ï¿½. The file is fixed block so the line does get truncated due to the one character turning into 3. I can convert the French characters to characters without the accents before sending but would prefer to keep everything intact. So is there a way to retain them and send the file over properly? I'm very green on iSeries, mainly a Windows guy.

vista server 2008 web edition cant change permissions

hi there, Im used to using windows server 2003 but decided to get a Vista web edition for IIS7 and to run our MVC applications on. I have installed copSSH that i use for SFTP, and when i upload my files i am unable to change persmissions or take ownership or anything when logged in as an administrator. when i try to go to permissions i get: The permissions on uploads are incorrectly ordered, which may cause some entries to be ineffective. and all permissions are the grayed out. i have tried to use icacls to reset ownership and also tried to give myself full control through icacls however all attempts are met with a access is denied message and failed processing 669 files. all i wish to do is set up write and delete permissions on an upload folder for a CMS systems admin area, but i am a week into looking into this and i am still no wiser. Please could someone give some sound advice so i can get this running smooth thanks p.s i have added the copSSH notes as i think that when i SFTP the files to the server, this may somehow have some involvement in messing up permissions

kmemsize problems in VPS even when there is about 500MB free mem

Hello, I have a site hosted on a Plesk VPS with 512MB memory and keep on getting kmemsize in "black zone" QoS errors. The soft limit of kmemsize is 12,288,832 and hard limit is 13,517,715. The definition Virtuozzo gives is: Size of unswappable memory, allocated by the operating system kernel. What's eating up the kmemsize? Is there any way to reconfigure and increase the kmemsize? The servers barely have any load or processing. Thanks for the help...

With that being said, I'm trying to develop a small application targeting the iPad, using Xcode and IB, basically, I have a table, for each UITableViewCell in the table, I added to the accessoryView a button that contains an image. Also, as you can see, I'm telling it to use the "cell.accessoryView" for the "inView:" attribute, is that okay?

bind (hardlink) one directory to many places

I need to "bind" one directory to many chrooted places. I know that I can do "mount -o bind", but this requires special processing on startup each time (run the mount). Is there a way to do it on the filesystem directly? My fs is ext4 and it seems not to support hardlinks to directories. Hardlinking all files inside is not an option too. Is thee a way to enable hardlinks to directories in ext4? Or any other options are avilable?

Uploadify - Passing Information Back to The Original Form

I have an Send.aspx page that has an uploadify control on it. Upload.ashx handles the file upload. I am adding a file record to a sql database in the Upload.ashx file and I need to get the ID of that record back from Upload.aspx when it is done. Can't get it working with Sessions. =( Something to do with an Adobe bug? What would the best way to handle this be? Sendmail background process sometimes processes queue, but sendmail -q always works

I'm using sendmail version 8.14.4 on Fedora 15 to send email. My Rails app uses delayed_job to queue up emails. Messages will queue up in /var/spool/mqueue as expected, but don't always get processed. I can see the messages and sendmail is definitely running in the background. Restarting the process does nothing. However, when I issue the sendmail -q command, sendmail gets to work and starts sending. The really odd thing is that this behavior only occurs sometimes. Other times message queue up and are delivered as expected. I've tried tweaking various sendmail configs to reduce the time between queue processing (for example, adding define('confMIN_QUEUE_AGE', '0')dnl to /etc/mail/sendmail.mc), but nothing seems to do the trick. Any ideas what might be the root cause?

Replace JBoss error page with Axis2 fault XML response

I'm developing a webservice with Axis2 1.4.1 on JBoss 4.2.3/Tomcat 5.5.27 and Java 1.5.0 (15-b04). It works flawlessly but when an exception happens I get a JBoss error 500 HTML page instead of an Axis2 XML/SOAP fault. This behavoir is vexing, because it difficults to handle errors in the webservice client or in SoapUI while developing. Can I change this to get the SOAP fault? Maybe it's just an Axis2 or JBoss parameter, but I didn't find any clue about. I built it again, made sure the jars where correctly copied to lib directory and it worked! Finally, it was an Axiom bug, as said in the links provided by Vineet. Thanks!
