  • How to reenable event.preventDefault?

    - by Richbits
    I have a web page which I have prevented the default action on all submit buttons, however I would like to re-enable default submit action on a button how can I do this? I am currently preventing the default action using the following: $("form").bind("submit", function(e){ e.preventDefault(); }); I have successfully done this using the following: $(document).ready(function(){ $("form:not('#press')").bind("submit", function(e){ e.preventDefault(); }); But can I do this dynamically when the button is clicked?

  • Stack Overflow like Watermarks in Forms

    - by Kaushik Gopal
    Hey people, I remember seeing a tutorial somewhere that talks of how to style your input forms in a more "usable" way. Essentially, you have a placeholder value and when you enter the input, it hides the hint so to speak. Now, just to be clear: I don't want the hint (placeholder value text) to disappear onFocus, but rather to go lighter when I first start typing something. Good e.gs: Check out the forms on Aardvark http://vark.com/. This is exactly how I wish to have my input forms. Our very own stackoverflow. When you try to ask a question, on clicking inside any input form, it doesn't hide the text right away. You see your cursor as well as the hint. but when you start to type, it hides the hint(I would prefer having it go to a much lighter shade rather than hiding all together, like above example). I remember very clearly reading a tutorial somewhere on the interwebz with this exact requirement, but darn forgot to bookmark it. Any suggestions/links?

  • Google Maps and Json structure

    - by mark
    I found a great script to plot markers on Google Maps. It uses an Json file to laod it. The problem is I don't know what the structure looks like in this case. Can you help? function loadMarkers() { var bounds = map.getBounds(); var zoomLevel = map.getZoom(); $.post("/gmaps/markers/index.php", {zoom: zoomLevel, swLat: bounds.getSouthWest().lat(), swLon: bounds.getSouthWest().lng(), neLat: bounds.getNorthEast().lat(), neLon: bounds.getNorthEast().lng()}, function(data) { processMarkers(data, _smallMarkerSize); }, "json" ); } function processMarkers(webcams, markerSize) { var marker = null; var markersInView = new Array(); var idsInView = new Array(); // Loop through the new webcams for (var i = 0; i < webcams.length; i++) { var idx = markers.indexOf(webcams[i].id); if (idx == -1) { var info_html = "<table class='infowindow'>"; info_html += "<tr><td class='img'>"; info_html += "<img src='" + webcams[i].smallimg + "' /><td>"; info_html += "<td><p><b>" + webcams[i].loc + "</b>"; info_html += "<br /><a href='/webcam/" + webcams[i].url + "' target='_blank'>Show webcam</a></p></td></tr>"; info_html += "</table>"; marker = new WebcamMarker(new GLatLng(webcams[i].latitude, webcams[i].longitude), {image: "" + webcams[i].smallimg + "", height: markerSize, width: markerSize}); marker.myhtml = info_html; map.addOverlay(marker); markersInView[webcams[i].id] = marker; } else { markersInView[webcams[i].id] = markers[webcams[i].id]; } idsInView.push(webcams[i].id); } // Now remove the markers outside of the viewport for (var i = 0; i < webcamids.length; i++) { var idx = markersInView.indexOf(webcamids[i]); if (idx == -1) { marker = markers[webcamids[i]]; map.removeOverlay(marker); } } markers = markersInView; webcamids = idsInView; }

  • Need to incorporate Timezone Selection (UTC) within Web App

    - by tonsils
    Hi, I need to incorporate a Timezone dropdown selection within my web app, which I need to use within an Oracle database. I basically require the user to select their timezone and I then need to use this against time stamp info stored within the Oracle tables. Unsure where/how to build this Timezone selection list within my page - example how-tos would be great. Would like this to be UTC. Thanks.

  • Pass dynamic data to mvc controller with AJAX

    - by Yustme
    How can I pass dynamic data with an AJAX call to an MVC Controller? Controller: public JsonResult ApplyFilters(dynamic filters){ return null; } The AJAX call: $(':checkbox').click(function (event) { var serviceIds = $('input[type="checkbox"]:checked').map(function () { return $(this).val(); }).toArray(); //alert(serviceIds); $.ajax({ type: 'GET', url: '/home/ApplyFilters', data: JSON.stringify({ name: serviceIds }), contentType: 'application/json', success: function (data) { alert("succeeded"); }, error: function (err, data) { alert("Error " + err.responseText); } }); //return false; }); Ideally would be that the filters would contain the serviceIds as a property For example like this: filters.ServiceIds. I got another filter for a date range and that one would be added like so: filters.DateRange. And server side get the filter as a dynamic object in the ApplyFilters()

  • JavaScript Array Problem

    - by JasonS
    Hi, This wasn't the question I was going to ask but I have unexpectedly run aground with JavaScript arrays. I come from a PHP background and after looking at a few websites I am none the wiser. I am trying to create a multi-dimensional array. var photos = new Array; var a = 0; $("#photos img").each(function(i) { photos[a]["url"] = this.src; photos[a]["caption"] = this.alt; photos[a]["background"] = this.css('background-color'); a++; }); Error message: photos[a] is undefined. How do I do this. Thanks.

  • Work time in fullcalendar [Solution]

    - by Zozo
    Full calendar have no included options to work-time feature (selecting first and last rows in agenda view for any day - where in example company is not working). I managed something like that: viewDisplay: function(view){ $.ajax({ url: 'index.php?r=calendar/Default/worktime', dataType: 'json', success: function(data){ if(view.name=='agendaWeek') selectWorkTime(data, 30, 0, 24, false); else if(view.name=='agendaDay') selectDayWorkTime(data, 30, 0, 24, view, false); } }); } Where index.php?r=calendar/Default/worktime is php file returning json. It looks like that: $arr = array( 'mon' => array('8:00', '17:00'), 'tue' => array('9:00', '15:00'), 'wed' => array('9:30', '19:00'), 'thu' => array('6:00', '14:00'), 'fri' => array('0:00', '24:00'), 'sat' => array('9:00', '14:00'), 'sun' => array() ); foreach ($arr as &$day){ foreach($day as &$hour){ $tmp = explode(':', $hour); $hour = $tmp[0] * 3600 + $tmp[1] * 60; } } print json_encode($arr); and at the end, some functions using for counting and selecting work-time: function selectDayWorkTime(timeArray, slotMinutes, minTime, maxTime, viewObject, showAtHolidays){ var dayname; $('.fc-content').find('.fc-view-agendaWeek').find('.fc-agenda-body') .children('.fc-work-time').remove(); $('.fc-content').find('.fc-view-agendaDay') .find('.fc-work-time-day').removeClass('fc-work-time-day'); switch(viewObject.start.getDay()){ case 1: dayname='mon'; break; case 2: dayname='tue'; break; case 3: dayname='wed'; break; case 4: dayname='thu'; break; case 5: dayname='fri'; break; case 6: dayname='sat'; break; case 0: dayname='sun'; break; } for(var day in timeArray){ if(day == dayname){ if($('.fc-content').find('.fc-view-agendaDay').find('.fc-'+day).attr('class').search('fc-holiday') == -1 || showAtHolidays){ var startBefore = 0; var endBefore = timeArray[day][0] / (60 * slotMinutes) - (minTime * 60) / slotMinutes; var startAfter = timeArray[day][1] / (60 * slotMinutes) - (minTime * 60) / slotMinutes; var endAfter = (maxTime - minTime) * 60 / slotMinutes - 1; for(startBefore; startBefore < endBefore; startBefore++){ $('.fc-view-agendaDay').find('.fc-slot'+startBefore).find('div').addClass('fc-work-time-day'); } for(startAfter; startAfter <= endAfter; startAfter++){ $('.fc-view-agendaDay').find('.fc-slot'+startAfter).find('div').addClass('fc-work-time-day'); } } } } } function selectWorkTime(timeArray, slotMinutes, minTime, maxTime, showAtHolidays){ for(var day in timeArray){ var startBefore = 0; var endBefore = timeArray[day][0] / (60 * slotMinutes) - (minTime * 60) / slotMinutes; var startAfter = timeArray[day][1] / (60 * slotMinutes) - (minTime * 60) / slotMinutes; var endAfter = (maxTime - minTime) * 60 / slotMinutes - 1; if(startBefore > endBefore) endBefore = startBefore; if(startAfter > endAfter) startAfter = endAfter; try{ selectCell(startBefore, endBefore, 'fc-'+day, 'fc-work-time', false, showAtHolidays); selectCell(startAfter, endAfter, 'fc-'+day, 'fc-work-time', true, showAtHolidays); } catch(e){ continue; } } } function selectCell(startRowNo, endRowNo, collClass, cellClass, closeGap, showAtHolidays){ $('.fc-content').find('.fc-view-agendaWeek').find('.fc-agenda-body') .children('.'+cellClass+''+startRowNo+''+collClass).remove(); $('.fc-content').find('.fc-view-agendaDay') .find('.fc-work-time-day').removeClass('fc-work-time-day'); if($('.fc-content').find('.fc-view-agendaWeek').find('.'+collClass).attr('class').search('fc-holiday') == -1 || showAtHolidays){ var width = $('.fc-content').find('.fc-view-agendaWeek') .find('.'+collClass+':last').width(); var height = 0; if(closeGap && (startRowNo != endRowNo)){ height = $('.fc-content').find('.fc-view-agendaWeek') .find('.fc-slot'+ startRowNo).height(); } $('.fc-view-agendaWeek').find('.fc-agenda-body').prepend('<div class="'+cellClass+' ' + ''+cellClass+''+startRowNo+''+collClass+'"></div>'); $('.'+cellClass).width(width - 2); height += $('.fc-content').find('.fc-view-agendaWeek') .find('.fc-slot'+ endRowNo).position().top - $('.fc-content').find('.fc-view-agendaWeek') .find('.fc-slot'+ startRowNo).position().top; $('.'+cellClass+''+startRowNo+''+collClass).height(height); $('.'+cellClass+''+startRowNo+''+collClass) .css('margin-top', $('.fc-content').find('.fc-view-agendaWeek') .find('.fc-slot'+ startRowNo).position().top); $('.'+cellClass+''+startRowNo+''+collClass) .css('margin-left', $('.fc-content').find('.fc-view-agendaWeek') .find('.'+collClass+':last').offset().left - width / 2); } } Don't forget about CSS: .fc-work-time-day{ background-color: yellow; opacity: 0.3; filter: alpha(opacity=30); /* for IE */ } .fc-work-time{ position: absolute; background-color: yellow; z-index:10; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-align: left; z-index: 0; opacity: 0.3; filter: alpha(opacity=30); /* for IE */ } So, I've got some questions about - is the other way to make the same, but no using absolute div's in agendaWeek? And... How can I get in viewDisplay function actual slotMinutes, minTime and maxTime

  • Changing url of background image

    - by João Pedro
    I'm doing this interface where I have a lot of buttons that are just a li with a background image like this #menu ul.icons li.nove { background-image:url(images/edit-menu/icons/undo.png); background-size:contain; display:block; margin-top:29px; } <ul class="icons"> <li class="um"></li> <li class="dois"></li> <li class="tres"></li> <li class="quatro"></li> <li class="cinco"></li> <li class="seis"></li> <li class="sete"></li> <li class="oito"></li> <li class="nove"></li> <li class="dez"></li> </ul> I need to create a code where I change the background image of the button when the user clicks it, to show that button its activated, I just need to change url(images/edit-menu/icons/ to url(images/edit-menu/select/ and keep the same filename. I need a way to do this dynamically so I won't have to do it for each of the 10 buttons. Hope I was clear, thanks in advance

  • Scroll to a text position in Javascript

    - by Andy
    I have a real-time HTML editor, with a textarea on the left for code entry, and a 'preview' DIV on the right to contain the preview of the code entered. At the moment, when editing the code in the left pane, the preview just sits where it is, so often the part of the code you're editing is not in the visible area of the preview (especially when images are involved). My question is how do I make the preview scroll to show the part of the code that's currently being edited? Here is the page I have so far: http://www.caerphoto.com/rtedit.html You'll notice in the source I have a (currently unused) matchPreview() function that tries to match the scroll position of the preview based on the scroll position of the textarea, but obviously if images or large text are involved the two panes no longer match.

    I do not code much in Javascript, but I have the following snippet which IMHO looks horrendous and I have to do this nested iteration quite often in my code. Does anyone have a prettier/easier to read solution? function addBrowse(data) { var list = $('<ul></ul>') for(i = 0; i < data.list.length; i++) { var file = list.append('<li class="toLeft">' + data.list[i].name + '</li>') for(j = 0; j < data.list[i].children.length; j++) { var db = file.append('<li>' + data.list[i].children[j].name + '</li>') for(k = 0; k < data.list[i].children[j].children.length; k++) db.append('<li class="toRight">' + data.list[i].children[j].children[k].name + '</li>') } } $('#browse').append(list).show()} Here is a sample data element {"file":"","db":"","tbl":"","page":"browse","list":[ { "name":"/home/alex/GoSource/test1.txt", "children":[ { "name":"go", "children":[ { "name":"validation1", "children":[ ] } ] } ] }, { "name":"/home/alex/GoSource/test2.txt", "children":[ { "name":"go", "children":[ { "name":"validation2", "children":[ ] } ] } ] }, { "name":"/home/alex/GoSource/test3.txt", "children":[ { "name":"go", "children":[ { "name":"validation3", "children":[ ] } ] } ] }]} Thanks a lot

  • Catching the Facebook Login Event to change the HTML of the parent page

    - by Arkid
    I am trying to create Facebook based login using Javascript. Once a person clicks a button he should get a div replaced by another div, if he is logged in to Facebook. However, if he is not logged in to Facebook he is asked his Facebook credentials and he logs in. However, we need the user to click the button once more for the div replacement to happen in this case. I want to know if there is a way in which I can catch the Facebook login event and change the div? Is polling a way or there is some other way out. I want to use only Javascript.

  • .each or search function, how can I make use of those?

    - by Noor
    I have a ul list, with 10 items, and I have a label that displays the selected li text. When I click a button, I need to check the label, versus all the list items to find the matching one, when it finds that I need to assign the corresponding number. I.e. list: Messi Cristiano Zlatan hidden values of list items: www.messi.com www.cronaldo.com www.ibra.com label: Zlatan script (thought)procces: get label text, search list for matching string, get the value of that string. (and if someone could point me in a direction to learn these basic(?) stuff. tried to be as specific as possible, thanks guys! edit: really sorry for not being clear. the li's are all getting a class dynamically (.listitem). the links can be stored in an array or in a hidden field (or other ul thats hidden) it doesn't really matter where the links are.. $('.listitem').click(function() { $("#elname").text($(this).text()); $("#such").attr("href", $(this).attr('value')); }); I was trying that with the li's having values but I realized that li's can't have values.. thanks again!

  • Ajax success function firing before java class responds

    - by user1899281
    I am creating a login function with ajax and am having an issue where the success function (SuccessLogin) fires before getting an ajax response. I am running the code as google web app from eclipse and I can see when debugging the java class file, that the javascript is throwing an alert for the success response from the class being false before the debugger catches the break point in the class file. I have only been writing code for a couple months now so I am sure its a stupid little error on my part. $(document).ready(function() { sessionChecker() // sign in $('#signInForm').click(function () { $().button('loading') var email = $('#user_username').val(); sessionStorage.email = $('#user_username').val(); var password= $('#user_password').val(); var SignInRequest = { type: "UserLoginRequest", email: email, password: password } var data= JSON.stringify(SignInRequest); //disabled all the text fields $('.text').attr('disabled','true'); //start the ajax $.ajax({ url: "/resources/user/login", type: "POST", data: data, cache: false, success: successLogin(data) }); }); //if submit button is clicked $('#Register').click(function () { $().button('loading') var email = $('#email').val(); if ($('#InputPassword').val()== $('#ConfirmPassword').val()) { var password= $('input[id=InputPassword]').val(); } else {alert("Passwords do not match"); return ;} var UserRegistrationRequest = { type: "UserRegistrationRequest", email: email, password: password } var data= JSON.stringify(UserRegistrationRequest); //disabled all the text fields $('.text').attr('disabled','true'); //start the ajax $.ajax({ url: "/resources/user/register", type: "POST", data: data, cache: false, success: function (data) { if (data.success==true) { //hide the form $('form').fadeOut('slow'); //show the success message $('.done').fadeIn('slow'); } else alert('data.errorReason'); } }); return false; }); }); function successLogin (data){ if (data.success) { sessionStorage.userID= data.userID var userID = data.userID sessionChecker(userID); } else alert(data.errorReason); } //session check function sessionChecker(uid) { if (sessionStorage.userID!= null){ var userID = sessionStorage.userID }; if (userID != null){ $('#user').append(userID) $('#fat-menu_1').fadeOut('slow') $('#fat-menu_2').append(sessionStorage.email).fadeIn('slow') }; }
